Hello @generic26 and welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience too.
I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing so much pain, as well as other symptoms, especially in your hip, knee and shoulders. It sounds as if you were given a diagnosis of osteoarthritis (OA) in your hip 4 years ago, and told that this was bone on bone, but never got the opportunity to have hip replacement surgery.
Pain and reduced mobility limits daily activities and can drag you down. It is understandable that you are feeling low, especially as you have recently lost your job and you have been going through such a rough time. At times like this, it can really help to be in touch with others facing similar challenges.
If you would like to have more replies to your post, you are welcome to repost on our Living with Arthritis forum which is a supportive space where you can ask questions and share experiences with others. You are also welcome to call our Free Helpline if you would like to talk things through informally and in confidence on 0800 5200 520 weekdays 9am - 6pm .
It sounds as if it would be good to go back to your doctor to talk through things further, review your pain medication and explore treatment options. I am aware that the medical system for referrals in the USA is different to the UK. A hip replacement could make a significant difference to your quality of life. It sounds as if you need to consult an orthopaedic surgeon. Physiotherapy (physical therapy) may help too.
The right kind of exercise can help you to move more easily and be in less pain. Muscle strengthening exercises will help to increase joint stability and protect your joints from further damage. Pacing yourself and balancing activity with rest is important so that you don't overdo it and aggravate your symptoms. Eating a healthy balanced diet and keeping a healthy weight will help to put less strain on your joints.
I hope you find the information given below of some help.
Please keep posting and let us know how you are getting on and I'm sure others will connect with you as well.
Best wishes,
Fiona, Helpline Advisor

Hi what's help me with my pain is tramadol. I know it's not suitable for everyone and it can be addictive. I take it with ibrophfen tablets at regular times every day if you have the pain or not. Most doctors dont like to prescribe tramadol but its helped me. I hope you feel better soon. There is nothing worst that pain. It effects you physically and mentally. Take care
Kind regards

@generic26 Welcome, I feel for you, I am waiting for hip and knee replacements and know what Bone on bone feels like, very frustrating not being able to do he things you would like to be able to, sorry to see you have lost your Job,I am taking Osteomol, its like Panadol, and Ice gel to rub on my knees and hips, and I also use a pillow between my knees at night that helps remove a bit of pressure off knees.
