Hi

I've had JIA since age 2 I'm now 40s have bilateral hip/knee replacements and not had severe flare ups for years, but every now and then I'll get a sudden attack which has always happened in the night, I can go to bed fine and wake up now and then as normal then ill wake up again and my hands, arms will be stiff painful, I'm thinking it could be the weather as it's dropped last couple of days or some red coloured squash I had yesterday which was the only different thing I had yesterday and don't usually have x

Hi @Emmie1975 and welcome to our online community :)

Wow, age 2 is very young to be diagnosed. I was 10 when I was diagnosed with JIA. I do find the weather affects my pain, the cold and damp weather definitely makes my pain worse. I would be surprised if some squash had any impact on your joints, it would more likely be the change in weather but you never know.

    All the best, Claudia x

    Hi Emmie

I hope you are now doing well. Unfortunately, the weather does affect us and mainly it's the high humidity that I find difficult to deal with. The winter is usually my worst time. I was diagnosed with sJIA at age five. I'm now 56. I try and keep moving as much as I can to avoid the muscles weakening.

Good luck and I hope you have improved

    Gail x😊
