When to exercise
I am awaiting a THR on my right hip. As I have scoliosis and kyphosis, I am at very high risk of dislocation after the op. (My left hip was done some 20 years ago, when I was 60). Surgeon has said to walk as much as possible to prepare for the op and strengthen that whole area, which I am trying to do, plus specific leg exercises. My question is, when the leg gives way a lot (practically every 2nd or 3rd step when I'm moving), should I rest, or exercise to help overcome this. It's v ery frustrating.

Good afternoon @KathleenIvy and welcome to the online community.
Sorry to hear your concerns about THR and exercising.
Personally I would do what you can when you can and rest in between (listen to your body) everyone different so no one fix fits all !!
I am sure others with same or similar condition and concerns will connect with you soon.
Best wishes @Naomi33

Have you tried pool walking? I've been exercising every week and have gained so much more strength. My legs collapse/spasm a lot too, which makes land walking near impossible, but pool walking is a gravity hack (but you really notice it when you're trying to get out though lol).
