Post six weeks exercise

I am now 6 weeks post THR and have been told by the surgeon and physio I can use my hip normally. Noting I need to extend the range incrementally. Do you have exercises that you can recommend to do this please?

I am finding plenty of exercises for before and immediately after the operation but not for after the six week milestone.
Thank you.

    Hi @ali_m_e

It looks like you are new here so welcome to the Community. We are a friendly and supportive group and I hope that will be your experience as well. I note that you have tagged our helpline team. I am sure they will respond to you soon.

You will also find our community very experienced - particularly in the subject of hip replacement! If you search for hip replacement in recent posts you will find a lot of information and advice from our members.

Also, our website is a mine of information so do look at it. You might be particularly interested in this as it does have a section on exercise:

You can also search using words like hip or exercise.

I had a hip replacement a couple of years ago - best thing I ever did! I do remember getting in and out of bed being complicated but I used a dressing gown cord looped around my foot to lift my leg out of bed - I got quite good at it. In relation to exercises I just remember doing the exercises I had been given but extending a bit further or doing more of them and just walking more and more.

Please keep posting now you are here and let us know how you are getting on.

    Best wishes

    Mary
