Diagnosis timeframe
Hello, I am going through test for arthritis at the moment. How long does it take to get a diagnosis? I seen an OT yesterday and she told me once I am diagnosed they can give you medication and you can have an “almost” normal life again. I just want to be able to walk without being in pain anymore.
I am 40 and I get pain in SI joints bilaterally which x rays show degenerative changes. Bilaterally at the base of my thumbs and wrists and bilaterally in my ankles as well as my index finger on my right which has a lump on it and my middle finger on my left hand.
Any advice on pain management would be greatly appreciated as well, I take codeine, pregabalin and paracetamol. Not able to take anti inflammatorys. Due to lots of flare ups of diverticulitis.
I am 40 years old, full time job and children. Really struggling with everything at the moment. Thank you for reading.

Hello @colette_Pope
I'm not sure how long the diagnosis pathway would be, I expect it varies around the country, at least you are in the system so to speak!
This it the right place to visit to let off steam or find advice. I would recommend giving the helpline a ring, it's free and they are very helpful.
All the best Joanne
