Recently diagnosed seronegative arthritis
Hello everyone. I am Yasheka, just thought of introducing myself here. I was recently diagnosed (confirmed diagnosis just yesterday) with seronegative RA.
Initially they suspected it to be axial spondyloarthritis since I had a fall about two years ago and hurt my tail bone. I didn’t go to get my lower back checked back then since I had no pain or discomfort expect for when I sat upright for a long period of time. This year, back in March, I started having a really bad pain in my lower back, couldn’t sit or stand. Since then, every two-three weeks, I developed new symptoms. Each joint of mine started hurting. Nothing was wrong with my MRIs and XRays. My pain didn’t get better with regular pain meds/anti inflammatory meds and my inflammatory markers were high in my last blood test.
Yesterday, my rheumatologist confirmed to me that this is seronegative arthritis since my final MRI also came out fine.
This is all very new to me. No one I know have had any type of chronic pain. Initially I found it very difficult to open up about this even with my family. Now, I am slightly better at expressing myself now but I am still worried that no one really understands what I’m going through and I don’t know how to explain it to them either.
