Hi Barbara hope you are feeling better now, now I'm not sure but is't it ilegal to give out someones personel details :? The store manager gave a violent agressive numpty your address. The shop I worked in wouldn't have been alowed to do that, its against the law.

Just remembered the word I was looking for, data protection act. Sounds like the manager has broke this and if so could loose his job. and so he should.

Oh Barbara,
I am so so sorry that you have had to go through this. I think everyone has said all that there is about this crafty '*d.
Yes your hubby has every right to be angry with the supermarket.
I know it will not be easy but try and relax a bit over the weekend.
Hugs to you and your granddaughter.

Hi Barbara, not been on for a couple of days so just seen your post. What an awful experience for you, this man sound like a complete a**e, how dare he treat you like this. And as for the girl on the checkout, she does need some kind of disciplinary, the last thing she should have done is give him your address, supposing he'd have turned up and became aggressive, it doesn't bear thinking about! Anyway, I'm glad the Police saw it for what it was and aren't taking it any further.
I hope you are able to put this awful ordeal behind you, take care lovely and hope you have a nice weekend. Love and hugs (((()))) Brenda xxx0 -
I didn't think that you would have any problem with the police and that is luckily how it turned out.
As for civil action, he has probably contacted one of those 'no win, no fee' organisations and fed them a load of rubbish. If they phone you again, tell the 'legal team' that, (keep a copy by the phone and just read it), "You are harassing me in an effort to get me to change my story. As I am an innocent victim of his aggression, I am sure that the court and the press will treat your attempt at victim intimidation in the way it deserves. See you in court." Hang up straight away and have nothing more to do with them.
Hang up without speaking if they phone again and don't reply or even acknowledge their letters, but keep them. Keep a log of all contact from them to read out if you are taken to court. Once they realise that you are not going to cave in and pay, they have a choice: either take you to court with a case that they will most likely lose, (as the police are taking no further action), or cut their losses and drop the case. Unless there is an 85%+ chance of winning, solicitors won't usually push this type of case, as losing doesn't help their reputation. Would people hire a regular loser or a competent winner?
One thing you have to be aware of, if they start a case and ask at the last minute for you to settle out of court, then refuse and get legal advice. Before you have your day in court, make sure that the local press are well informed about this man's actions and name him. Whether you win or lose, by aggressively attacking a disabled women from behind, then attempting to claim compensation because she halted the attack will not go down well at all with the general public once they know about it. Even the 'bad guys and girls' won't like this type of thing happening to you as it could have been their mum or gran in the queue.

Well said, Joseph, good sound advice as usual. Regards, Brenda0

This man is claiming that Barbara hurt him badly by pushing a trolley at him. He will maintain this story in order to get some easy money.
Barbara you must continue to deny you hurt him intentionally and that you were protecting your legs from further damage and that you deflected the trolley.
The police will do whatever to get an easy conviction folks.
It makes them look like they are doing there job. I have had a similar experience.

The girl on the till gave this freak your name and address?????
Are you serious??????
That MUST be addressed (pardon the pun).
Everyone in the world knows not to do that.
I'd write to the Chief Exec/Chairman of the supermarket chain.
However, you must do what YOU feel is right at the time as it is easy for us lot on the sidelines to tell you what you should do.
Hope you managing to relax a bit this weekend.
Keep smiling, Carol0 -
Just hoping you are having a better day, Barbara, and not letting it spoil your weekend.

Hi everyone
I know I keep saying Thank you, but you have all got me through this, Joseph, its kind of you to go to the trouble of giving me all that information, I will put it all to good use.
I have told his solicitor that I want everything in writing, on Monday I will tell them not to ring me again, I must have had 15 calls already.
There was no way I pushed the trolley hard enough to knock him over, I could only use one hand, using my stick in the other, he throw his self on the floor, like they do in football.
I will let you all know how we get on next week.
Love

Dear Barbara
I am so very sorry to read your thread. I cannot believe what has happened to you. Why do horrid things happen to such lovely people?
I am sure it will turn out alright for you in the end. You have your grandaughter as a witness. I do not think for one moment that you would have hit him hard enough with your trolley - he was putting in all on. He started it and hurt you. Make sure you get a photo of your bruise. Shame no one else came forward to act as a witness too.
Try not to worry too much about it, dear Barbara but I know that is difficult to do. I would be so upset, like you too.
Lots of love
