Hi and thank you Elizabeth, Cris, Joan, Tilly, Ironic, Marion, Julie, Cath, and Chris
What would I do without you...sorry this has been drawn out....but just want to give you all an update.
I got a call off the secretary, and she said he wanted to do the injections.....sorry if Im repeating myself...not sure what I have told you.....so I had a call from the ward were they will inject me.....and I have to go back next Friday for another pre op.....and I have the injections the following Monday....she just said he wanted to inject and have a look round  so I take it means a camera...this is the same consultant that was shocked at how much my hips had deteriorated...and said he would offer me a THR....I feel has so I am bring blackmailed....if I dont have the injections....I dont get the THR.
So there you go...I will have to them......I have has these injections in my spine and got no relief....I honestly think they are stalling.....
Thank you again for all your support
Love to everyone

Aw Barbara huge big hugs to u hun!! so not nice to put in this spot at all!
Bloody Jumped up Secretary , they make me mad so much ,sorry peeps , sure there not all bad though either!
I myself just had the injection into the hip 3wks yesterday and my consulant said on monday just gone "can take upto 6wks to work" , but seeing as I had to go to dr's today to get more pain relief , I don't think its worked! And they won't do a THR cause I'm only 33!
SO wish u loads of luck for Friday and Monday and stand ur ground with the consulatant/s too!
xx

Hi Barbara, sorry to have missed this thread. Well done you for making the decision to have the op - there does come a point where you realise it really is the only option. Eight months is terrible - get that referral in quick, you could opt for taking a cancellation. Get your GP onside too, to fight for why you are a priority. My ortho had two lists - an urgent and a non urgent list ...
Might be worth looking on the NHS choices website to see where the shorter waiting lists are too.
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Barbara,
Do you think they just want to give you the injections and exploratory to help you? The injections may give you a lot of relief and the camera will give them an idea of what going on and what they have to tackle.
It may seem as though they're messing you about but they probably have your best interests at heart.
The injections might just tide you over whilst you wait for your surgery.
Hope everything goes smoothly next Friday and Monday, I'll be thinking about you.Love, Legs x

Hi barbara12, I am absolutely with legs on this one, I think they want to do the injections to help you, I really do. I don't think it's a case of if you don't have these then you won't have that, I reckon they want to make you as comfy as possible whilst you wait for the op. The camera is a good idea too, it'll give them accurate info about the state of your joint and that can only be a good thing. You know that we will be there in force on Friday (it's OK valval, it's this coming one, you haven't missed it) and we will cheer you on through every stage of this difficult time. We care, and we'll show you just how much! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

As usual Legs has been the voice of reason. The injections may well help you a lot until the THR. I can understand why you are confused why they can't just get on with the THR but as you said your consultant was shocked at how much they had deteriorated and wants to help you in the meantime.
No harm in asking him why you need injections if you have opted for a THR when you next see him,
Good luck,

Hi Barbara - you never know you might be - but it will just be the adrenaline as you prepare for the op. Don't be fooled - don't dare put it off!!!!
