Coming to terms with possible Psoriatic Arthritis
hi everyone, been signposted here by mum who often takes comfort in posts here.
I’m 32, mum of 3, and have recently been told I may have psoriatic arthritis. What an overwhelming situation! First feeling was fear (I’ve seen my mum struggle with this along with osteoarthritis for many years), second feeling is - oh…maybe it isn’t normal to wake in pain every day, maybe it’s not just because I’ve carried children, lack of sleep, bad posture!
I’ve struggled with ‘eczema and pompholyx’ for years, however turns out this may actually be psoriasis, that, along with new psoriasis on my head, and an endless list of aching, painful and intermittently swollen joints had led them to believe it may be psoriatic arthritis.
However, I’m also hypermobile and currently breastfeeding (causes relaxin hormone changes) so they are unable to confirm a diagnosis at the moment.
I just feel a bit lost really, like I’ve been dangled a diagnosis carrot under my nose but there are other things in the way stopping me from getting help!
Going to spend the next 2 months before my follow up smashing through Pilates and trying to stop breastfeeding a clingy 18 month old, wish me luck!

Hello @katie2502 a very warm welcome to the online community.
I can totally understand how you are feeling just now 'almost' diagnosed having to rush your little one on from breast feeding too.
Such a hard thing to do isn't it that special bond, but your health is important too. Your little one and the other two need a Mum who is as well as possible.
I am very glad you have a Mum who has experience with psoriatic arthritis herself. Her support will be invaluable.
I don't know whether you've had time to read this? It's been written for people newly diagnosed:
I do hope you'll keep posting on the forum and find it as supportive as your Mum has.
Best wishes
Ellen.
