I'm not lazy!!
So I'm 27 and was diagnosed a few weeks ago with osteoarthritis in my toes, and good god, I can't believe how relieving it is to know what the hell has been wrong with me all this time!!
I've always been the friend who would rather get the bus or a cab if we're going somewhere, or who needs to take more breaks when we walk somewhere or queue at a concert or a theme park, and all this time I just thought I must be lazy. Surely everyone else must be feeling the same, but push through it and I just can't be assed. I've always struggled with running in school, and figured it was the same thing; I just didn't want to bother or put the work in, and everyone else managed just fine.
But no, the pain is real, and I'm not lazy!! It's not something everyone feels, and it's not normal to be in this much pain just from standing up. It doesn't fix it obviously, and it doesn't make it easier, but god, at least there's a reason!!

So sorry to hear that I've just recently been diagnosed with moderate osteoarthritis in my spine after complaining of constant pain in lower back for over 4 years kept being told just a muscle spasm know how frustrating it is not to be heard or believed x

Gosh l guess it’s a relief to find out and now something to get your head around. It’s about pacing yourself and you mustn’t feel guilty for having a medical condition. Those around you will have to start being more accomadating also. Also you should look at asking GP to be referred to a Physiotherapist which would help and using adequate pain control if necessary. I started having knee arthritis in my 50’s and this is something l have done which helps.

Good morning @bytesizeillustrator a very warm welcome to the online community.
I see from your post that you have recently been diagnosed with arthritis in your toes and are feeling very relieved that you have had reason to want to keep off of your feet over the years.
Would these be of interest to you I wonder?
I am very glad youve found the site and hope you'll find it supportive while you adjust to your new diagnosis.
Best wishes
Ellen.
