I have brought the girls in to cheer you all up, especially Ange :-) I like sneaking in without them sometimes, but do get lonely, I have to admit. I like my girlie crew.

Perhaps Jassie (nearly 6) could tell you about the fight she had with her best friend yesterday? She put her new coat on yesterday morning before school (that's why the weather's turned mild all of a sudden by the way, people, it's because I've got their winter coats out) and I put a little tub of vaseline in one of her pockets because she gets chapped lips sometimes.

Well obviously, she'd taken it out and applied it about 10 times before we even got to school where she showed it to her best friend. Her friend immediately started pleading with Jassie to lend her the vaseline and let her "have a go" or take it home whereupon she would return it the next day. Jassie refused and they actually had such an argument about it that the pair of them had to visit the Behavioural Support teacher :-) Jassie was let off with a telling off but her friend had to go to Step 2!

There's nothing to report from Simie (7) yet but I'm sure she'll do something mad soon. Ellen (10) was born sensible.

Oooh, must tell you about this - Simie's teacher was telling us all at a governors meeting that her friend had told her that if you've been drinking heavily the night before, you should carry a 2p in the car. So if you get breathilised the next day, you can put this 2p in your mouth and it neutralises the alcohol coming off your breath(?).

We all looked at her really strangely until she said "It's true! My friend told me 'to get off a fine for heavy drinking, you should suck a copper'"!!!! And she was serious! Someone eventually explained it to her and she said "Oh no! I've been carrying a 2p piece in my car for ages because of that!"

This is why Simie loves her teacher - they're both as dippy as each other!

Cheers Cris, for seeing to the beasties. Are we still OK for ewe nuts?
Had a very busy day today, but a lovely October day here to make up for it - been working outside tidying up. Well, that's what I call it, OH calls it 'pottering' but that is my limit these days.
I'm ready now for some soup and a roll and a Cornish pasty, I'm craving a pasty today.
Hope everyone's OK, love your girlies, Nina - they're about the same ages as my grandchildren, girls are such fun!
Have a lovely holiday, Toni - why not a toyboy? Just asking.

    Hello

Who's going on holiday? Toni? Have a nice time. Hope you get more sunshine than we have had today. Suppose to have been the wettest day of the year today!. I only felt a couple of drops of rain.
Well, I've nearly finished my xmas cards and I bought some very reasonable wrapping paper today so I can start wrapping my presents. Can't believe how early I am. I think I am getting prepared in case I get my op done early. Dr thinks they will do immediately after my test on 2 Dec. She says it is very bad and my consultant may do another injection to try and help.
Do we have any green fingers around? Seby bought round a very sodden Venus Fly trap plant in very soggy soil with slugs in it. Three new branches have died and there are only two new ones. I think I should take it out of the soggy pot and let the plant rest.
another little job I wasn't expecting. never mind.
    goodnight

    joy

    hi all,

late on today - been struggling with this cold. I'll just pop myself away in the 'lurgy' corner ..... can I have a large bowl of hot water and a big towel please? 'scuse the smell .... got to inhale yet more olbas oil before I trurn in ...... MUST get some sleep tonight

Is there any tea left in the post (  POT I meant POT  can't think why post came to mind  ) ... and maybe even a bacon sarnie? smells wonderful (i think!!) and I have to admit I am always hungry with a cold.

Littlelegs is lurking somewhere ..... probably as far away from me as poss ..... the trip to the vets was fun ... could have done with a cattle prod - she didn't want to leave the waiting room  ...... needed a lot of shoves and rather too many bribes!! but got the ok in the end.

Must admit I have to admire the man ..... 15.7kg of snarling & unco-operative staffie and he still had all his fingers when he'd finished examining her teeth :lol::lol::lol: not to mention the injection.

slipperboy has obviously been teaching her a thing or two. The ladies in the waiting room were in hysterics when instead of walking into the consulting room littlelegs took up a perch on the weighng scales and refused to budge an inch!

oh what can tomorrow bring

I feed better quality and if he thins it can stay down he hasn't' intermingled with the others too well  I have 3 'hoovers' and a thief if no other....

HI Cris, if you are still up (i can't sleep .... don't even think it's worth trying yet   )

the vet said if she put on a bit it would be ok but only a bit, if she lost a bit then only a bit, so i will keep her about how she is now that we have got there .... her ribs are not so pronounced, but you can still feel them easily. She LOVES the porridge well-cooked (with water) and the scrambled egg is a real favourite when i decide to treat her.

I am going to gradually give her less of the extras, and see if we can get the balance right to keep her at this weight.

At least she is happy & look well .... and no stomach problems for ages now. :D

Glad the tips help ..... good to know others have similar problems.

    sleep well

    Hi everyone.
The reason I am having problems sleeping is my left hip. It is so painful at the moment I'm wondering if the bursitis has flared up.
I can't sit, walk, stand or sleep prop.
Anyway, used my Tens last night and I did manage a fairly good night. Wanted to stay in bed but hip didn't. It is a very painful, tingly shooting pain sort of thing.

Anyway, who am I talking to. If you are there and invisible, how do I know your listening?

I made myself a cup of tea. cheers. having a good day everyone?

    Hi
Hope Toni has a good time . Pity yu have to come back to the cold.
The dark nights and the dark mornings. At least I am retired now and do not have to get up for work. Mind you, I still get up early, my hip ensures that.

Now this losing weight thing. How many of you going to join?
I think we will hold it in the cafe here. I am quite prepared to make a chart

Perhaps we could get the Helpline crew to help here!!! I'll put it to them.
As I have put on another post, I weigh 16st 8lbs at the moment. need to lose at least 3 stone.

Wait to hear from you all.

    joy

    Hi all,

havve to say that we had fish and chips tonight, so am fairly full, but would love a huge bucket of tea and a large bowl of hot water for my inhallation before I retire for the night.

cold is all in the sinuses now .... getting painful too :( wondering if I should ring the doctors but not sure if there is anything they can do if it doesn't seem to be infected (which it doesn't at the mo)

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Iwish it would GO AWAY!!!!

sorry, had to get that off my chest (face  )

have brought a huge vat of fat-free veg soup which should fill up those of us on the diets thread ....... did you see the programme where it said if you eat liquid food (ie thick soup) you feel fuller for longer than if you eat solid food? works for us :D

Glad to see all you slimmers queueing up at the door there.

Now you lot with these bad colds. Remember what we were saying about Man Flu the other day

Try some nice Ginger and Lemon tea. it's brilliant.

I feel loads better now after that virus. Had the rest of my birthday present yesterday and had lovely massage and facial again. She massages right up to the top of your head with almost an Indian Head massage. Hair was all oily afterwards and look dreadful, but who cares when it is so relaxing.
Slept like a baby last night. Pain has gone away for awhile. It will be interesting to see how long it stays away. was about 48 hours last week, but then it came back with a vengence. It was nice to have some respite. MY OH has said Ican book another session. I have just bought a couple of the oils today, Chamomile and Jasmine and some Rosemary. I usually mix it in with some body oil and use it that way.
    brilliant.
    hope to see you later

    joy
