Hi Efleure,
Just dropping by to ask how you are. Not getting enough sleep is a nightmare for you. Sooo glad you have had the staples out. One small step nearer.
Hope the weekend is kinder to you.

Hello to all my kind support group....slept better last night...tried to go to bed really late, with my saved up painkillers, and it helped...having the staples taken out has really helped, and i think the iron tablets are starting to take effect...feeling a bit stronger, so i can do the exercises more often...was taken out by my oldest daughter to the physio at the local hospital, which i was scared of, but found ok in the end...was worried how i'd manage the outside stairs, getting in and out of the car, etc whilst still being so weak...the physio was in a real hurry, reeled off a sheet of excercises, asked a few questions, forgot to answer mine, and then i went home...the thing i find the most infuriating about all this is the damn inconsistencies thrown at me ....leg up when resting, leg down when resting, do it til it hurts, stop if it hurts, sleep on your side with a cushion, never sleep on your side, lots of weight bearing if uncemented, hardly any weight bearing if uncemented etc....anyhow, thanks again for thinking of me and i hope you all have a good weekend...x0

Hi Efleure
Very glad to hear that you are feeling a bit stronger. Well done for managing the trip in the car..
It sounds like you are over the worst now Efleure - but don't get disheartened if you have some bad days as well as good days... it's a bit 'three steps forward two steps back' in those 8 weeks post op...
Best wishes

I agree, Efleure, now that you know what you should be doing, you do what feels right/comfortable for you. We know our own bodies more than anyone else. You are doing well.
As Marion says, it is often three steps forward one step back. I noticed this with my knee ops.
I am sure that now, when you look back there are things that you can do, that you could not do then so you are definitely going in the right direction. Look at it that way round. Carry on with the good work.

Hi efleure
sorry for not posting on your thread before now
hope you're finding that with each day you're feeling stronger

Thanks Elna,
yes, i'm definitely getting a bit stronger, almost daily, so that's good and helps with the mental state...but as you say, the one step forward, two back thing is hard to get used to , but never mind...thanks again x0 -

Hi Efleure,
Sorry been awol from your post for a bit but so glad to read your feeling stronger. It really does get better and the 2 forward 1 back doesn't last for too long so hang in there. Sending a ((( ))) and a bucket of hopes that it soon does 2 forward and no back ones at all. Cris x0 -

Hi Efluere, there are an amazing number of inconstistencies aren't there?!!
Well done for surviving your trip out. Make the next one more fun! I started to feel like I was on house arrest and was desperate for people to take me out - even short trips.
I was at my best first thing in the morning so after a few weeks I used to take my anti-inflams then and hold off with the painkillers for a while so that I could take them a bit closer together as the day progressed.
Marion is SO right - it does feel like a 3 steps forward and then a couple back... you feel a bit better, you do more , you pay ... etc
You do sound like you are coping better and improving. Start comparing yourself to how you were just before and just after the op and you will see how far you have come already!
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0
