Toady, I know what you mean about turning a blind eye. If we thought about the bad things in life all the time, we'd all get so depressed. Just looked back. Barbara was saying she hoped your laptop turned up and I read it wrong. I know she had problems with her keys earlier so for some reason, I thought she was getting a new one. Not the first time, I've read something the wrong way.
Toni, being turned in to a diamond sounds like a good idea. In hospital, it's everyone in together, isn't it? It wouldn't be possibly, and not right either really, to segregate anyone when it's not their fault. Hope you, Lucy and your family have a good as possible weekend.
I've got a whole day to myself today so started with breakfast in bed and a catch-up. Not sure what to do with the rest of it but possibly a little bit of work in the garden and maybe a walk. I'll see how the weather is. Looking very dull and overcast at the moment.Christine0 -
Gosh there's been a lot of coming and going in the cafe.
Toni I posted what seemed like a few days ago but came into the cafe and it has been busy.
Barbara I threw my first orchid away when it stopped flowering but this one kept going but I have taken more care of it.
Toady you are clever sorting out your laptop. I usually download Anti virus and then rely on that but couldn't do anything else.
I was cross last week because I missed getting Lucy into school clubs. We only had the form 2 days before it needed to be returned so I was a day late. Now she has missed re-joining her guitar club, which she loves. She's doing football club though,. I suppose they need as many players as possible and guess what? More expense, boots, shin pads and socks are required  she also bought a ukele while out shopping today and her Dad got some lovely clothes from the 2nd hand shop. Bargain items and brilliant condition.
Mum is scattered on the Sussex Downs. I'm going for the bluebell woods down near my childhood home. I keep reminding my older girls just so they know!
Glad parcel turned up Toady but I see its not your laptop.
Despite sleeping most of the day I managed to put the old desk in the correct place in Son's room. He was upset that it was over by one wall where he likes to sit. He doesn't like his bean bag BTW so Daughter has claimed it and I'm yet to set up the light/bubble thing I bought for his birthday. Now the desk is moved I'll set that up but on Monday I'm having an MOT. GP has been chasing me about BP and diabetes test and a few other checks but I'd put it all off because of the summer hols and then forgot. I hope he'll be pleased I've lost weight.
Itching started again yesterday (or Thursday) when I took my humira injection so it must be linked.
I've just spotted Coco. Hi there! Don't like to hassle you as I know you have a lot going on but glad you were able to pop in. Have a well deserved Cuppa.
You won't catch me shredding either. I rip them up and put them in the compost. It is painful Kath. I had the same pain (bum cheeks and hips and feet) when I sorted through my Son's wardrobe. I'd been chucking clothing in and it was full. Only a few items will get passed on to Lucy as she is fussy and the rest had to be bagged up. I'm waiting to find a good cause to pass them on to as many are in tip top condition like jeans worn once and even some clothes still tagged. I'm determined it will go to someone who really needs them!
I had my waitrose shop (always cheers me up but stresses OH as I spend so much) and I had a voucher so I stocked up on my favourites and items the kids love. I bought 5 tubs of ice cream!!!!Then bumped into 2 friends and C. had sadly lost her Dad a few days before, this only a few months after Hubby lost both of his parents within a month. So the kids have lost 3 Grandparents within a year. Terribly sad.
Glad your sister apologied Applerose. It is sad seeing the old struggling in hospital. I had a very old lady next to me and she kept pulling the drips out of her arm so I had to keep ringing for the Nurse. they had to help her once very late at night and kept apologising to me as I as right next to all the commotion but it was no hardship. I was on a high having had my painful hip replaced and nothing was going to knock that feeling!
Hello Joan sorry to hear you have ongoing issues with the mouth. It must feel horrible so hope it can clear up soon.
Take care all, hope I haven't missed anyone. I panic I'm going to lose my post which is why I talk such nonsense. Life is one big rush for me,

Hi Joan
Lucy is fine thank you just ate two slices of eggy bread s I am happy and a glass of chocolate milkshake. I hope Peppa is ok now ???
Hi Christine
A whole day to yourself eh?! It's dull and overcast here too, but maybe some time in the garden would be nice.I think I would make a lovely diamond hahaha!
Elizabeth it's good to hear all your news! Lots has happened with you. I am sure the Waitrose shopping will all get eaten and none wasted
You don't talk nonsense at all I enjoy your chatty posts, mind you I am very sad to hear about your friend's family having so many bereavements in such a short time
I do the same with clothes we no longer use...I prefer cancer charities at the moment especially children's ones.
I hope your 'MOT' goes well - I am certain the GP will be really pleased with your weight loss.
Well done for moving the desk for your son and hope that the bubble thing can be done soon.
Bluebell woods sound a lovely final resting place and somewhere your kids can visit anytime they want to.
Love to you all

Hello Toady, Elizabeth, Toni, Joan, Christine, Coco, and anyone I've missed. Hope Barbara is having a good day out at the seaside (she said enviously). Mig's away somewhere too, hope all is ok with you mig.
Got an appointment with rheumy nurse on Monday morning. Worrying about an awful pain in my right hip, thigh and knee. Definitely bone pain and not nerve pain. Every step feels as though someone is tightening a screw in my hip joint - and I've hardly had any problems with hips before. Don't think it's Rheumatoid, thinking more osteopenia worsening or maybe osteo arthritis. Any thoughts???
Toni, glad to hear Lucy is eating well, hope it continues. Sore bum cheeks were caused by crouching down for over 2 hours sorting stuff to put in the shredder, at least they're not feeling so bad now. :?
Joan, hope you are having a good weekend too.
Elizabeth, I know of others who itch after Humira injection. Nightmare.
Christine, not sure what I want doing with my ashes. I like the idea of being scattered around the base of a tree but fear I would do more harm than good with all the various 'poisons' I'm now ingesting.
Toady, no specific reason for scowling a ologists. I'm just sick of seeing them now, and I'm sure they're sick of seeing me.
Glad the coffee cake was popular, must bring another but I see Toni mentioned shortbread - can't resist that."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hi Kath I answered your post on LWA as I had similar.
I'm glad to see Lucy had her eggy bread and milkshake.
No nothing will go to waste but it won't last long, the waitrose shop never does.
I'm happy to give clothes to charity but I worry that the best stuff will get taken by the staff. I know many volunteer because its close to their heart so maybe I should't worry.
I've still got Lucy's new school shoes that hurt her feet. She's gone back to her old ones. I'm too late to take back I think.

Joan hope you and Sue have a good weekend
Toady was the parcel your new laptop..I am behind with everything..hope you are enjoying it and it lives up to expectations

Barbara0 -
Hello people
well I'm posting on the new laptop
came today, all fine. Good condition and will do me nicely for what I want - which is, more or less entirely for internet (so I won't need to do much getting to grips with windows7) and then leave me able to sort my trusty old PC out without needing to use it to go online, especially with the xp situation. Also one of the main things was to get something with a battery.. one less lead about the place.. & it's little & portable. Can't believe what some of these 2nd hand machines cost in the beginning & what they make when they filter down to the 2nd hand market.
First thing I did was lock up the mouse pointer trying to get the scroll zone thing on the touchpad to work, & had to plug in an old wired mouse to get back in.. not so clever.
Glad you had a nice day barbaraso glad it was sunny. Two cornets sounds lovely I wonder if they were both the same different flavours.. and were they supposed to be both yours when you bought them.
Hope you aren't too tired at least you have not had to get up early this morning or tomorrow hopefully.
Applerose I see you can lie in too, oh good, hope it is a better day if you do want to go in the garden as today was definitely a bit uninviting. Haven't too much to do outdoors apart from check on things, I will be batch-potting up parsley indoors as the last time I tried none came up so I sowed plenty & now they are coming up in droves.
Hi TK and glad you managed to get quite a lot done despite the sleeping. Shame about your daughter's school clubs, 2 days is a silly amount of time to give you and they should have factored in a bit of leeway for only being a day late  Good luck with your GP on Monday hope everything's fine, hope the itching is definitely only temporary & injection related. Sorry too for your friend, that's very hard on the family.
Kath is off to the nurse on Monday too, oh dear.. that pain sounds horridhave you had it long.. hope you get on ok. Yes all of us composted down together when we go would not make a very nice mixture would we.
Like it.
Glad to see Lucy is eating a little better, frogEggy bread is ideal. What a lovely postie!
Hardly see mine as they are all trained to leave things in the porch.
At least I actually got the laptop this time unlike the last one which went halfway round the country & disappeared - even though at one point it was a few doors up. I will be able to post & check in easier now
especially when I have no internet on my phone, but I'm trying to make it a rule not to take it to bed with me, dare not go down that slippery slope!
Joan I hope Peppa is ok too. Will check in tomorrow for news. Hope it's not too far to go to your local vets I expect there are follow-ups?
'night to all xx0 -
Good morning everyone
The sun is out!
Toady I am so glad your new laptop is here safe and sound and hope you will be very good and only take it to bed with you if you are poorly :?
Good your garden is under control and you will only be potting up your parsley. I am looking forward to doing more in my garden this next year as I expect Lucy to be way better.
Poor KathT not nice pain she has there. being one-sided tends to make you think something other than inflammatory doesn't it? OA pain is very different beast isn't it? Never had Osteopenia or Osteoporosis one yet so can't judge, but Joan will know more about that kind of pain
Hopefully the rheumy nurse will be able to ask for some tests?
Barbara I am so pleased you had a lovely day outYou deserve it
Having the sun out really makes the day doesn't it?
Why is it the elderly are respected so much less these days? We really ought to do something about it, after all we'll be there one day all of us  Never ever was any adult called by their first name by someone younger than themselves.
You deserve a shortbread after baby has been
Elizabeth You really don't talk too much. Your posts are usually interesting and or funny
Shame about Lucy's shoes. we are off to sort out our Lucy some 'smart work-wear for school today and that will include shoes I suppose :? they are so fussy about shoes
Mmmmm....I never thought of charity staff having the 'best' stuff. As you say a lot of charity staff are doing it because they actually really care about the specific charity.
Right sleeves up:
and
and my favourite job....
love to you all

Morning all..yes we have the sun...Im like the weather lady on here..just a bit obsessed I would say ..I even have the ten day one on my phone...

Toady I am so pleased your new laptop arrived...you will soon get used to windows 7..says me who hated it when I first got it..I did like XP my first one had 95 on it...wouldn't it be good to go back and and have a ;look at it..
you enjoy..
Toni sorry you had to clean again in the cafe we have let things slide..wish I could get here to do the same..hope thet both you and Lucy had a good night..and hopefully today Lucy will find something else she can eat and enjoy today..

We had an extremely tiring trip ,a lot of walking but was well worth it for the sights we saw,we were even rowed by a nice youg man called Henry 8)
on the canal in Canterbury.
Our next trip will be in two weeks time we are going to our sons for a few days.Still doing the washing the ironing can wait, will read through the posts and see whats been happening . Mig0 -
Welcome back mig, what a lovely idea lighting those candles. Hope your not suffering too much after all that walking.
Toady, glad you now have your new laptop. Hope you get on ok with it.
Barbara, so glad you had a good day by the sea - I love the sea, can I come with you next time?
Sun is out here too Toni, what a lovely thought, Lucy being much better for next year.
Elizabeth, thank you for replying to my post on the LWA thread. I thought I'd post it in several places so more folk would see it.
I'll let you all know what happens after tomorrow. Hope it will be good news."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Elizabeth, it doesn't seem fair that Lucy wasn't allowed in to the club just because you were a day late. Can't see what difference it would make. Glad you got to do something though. It is all very expensive, isn't it? You bought 5 tubs of ice cream? Sounds like my type of shopping. Don't worry about how long your posts are. They are always interesting.
Joan, hope you, Sue and Peppa have had a good weekend.
Toni, I didn't get in to the garden. It rained most of the day. I think you would make a very good diamond. Hope you and Lucy and your family have had a good weekend.
Kath, hope your appointment tomorrow goes well and they find out what your hip, thigh and knee are caused by.
Barbara, I see you keyboard is still playing up. It must be so annoying. Glad you enjoyed your trip out and your 2 cornets. I do enjoy breakfast in bed but have to go and get it myself. Well done to your OH for getting some weeding done today. Glad the weather was nice for you and you were able to listen to the birds. Happy birthday for tomorrow to your GD. 17? Almost all grown up.
Yaaay, Toady. Your new laptop has arrived. I always take my laptop upstairs on Saturday night so it's there for me to use while I have breakfast in bed on Sunday. Don't do it any other time though. Glad it's what you want. Too grey and drizzly to get in the garden so it has been left for a better day.
Mig, what a lovely thought to light the candles for everyone. Especially nice as it was your sister's birthday. Hope you weren't too sad. I like going for a row down the river. Sounds lovely to do it in Canterbury.
I was hoping to go to the hospital this afternoon but my sister went without telling me so I had to do the evening shift. Not to worry. Dad is much brighter and eating a little bit more. He has to see the dietitian who will give him milkshakes and snacky things which might tempt him more than a full meal. Just managed to catch the 2nd bus in town as it was already at the bus stop. It's a bit difficult on Sundays as the buses are only once an hour. Luckily my son was able to bring me home. Didn't do much else today other than clean the bathroom. Guess it's one thing ticked off.Christine0 -
Hello Christine Mig Barbara Kathleen.
Christine i'm pleased your Dad is eating a bit more. peppa is well he has the stiches out next mon.
Mig that is a lovely picture of the candles very kind of you to do that.
Barbara nice to see you back. did you have a good journey.
Kathleen i hope you have a good appointment.

Afternoon all
bit of a chilly start but now it's nice
yes I have the 10-day weather on my phone too
Hope all are well, I have had my delivery of chocs this morning so all help yourselves and extra for those coming back in from appointments, Kath, TK & any others, hope all straightforward.
Laptop is working out well & thanks everyone for kindly taking an interest. A little over-featured in my opinion (windows 7 that is) & I do like good old xp but I will get used to it barbara, and there are some nifty bits & bobs.. I have virtual sticky notes on my desktop, let's hope I don't end up with as many as I have icons on my pcbut I can see that helping me to go in the bank or pay a bill on time.
Hope frog & Lucy are out successfully tracking down the right school stuff.. 'approved' shoes (not the sort you'd choose of your own accord I'm guessing! :? ) but main thing is if the trip goes ok.(& you can always trade-off having to have school shoes by buying Lovely Shoes as well, that's what I do.
)
Lovely pic mig and glad the trip went well, and you fitted in a good amount of sightseeing and got onto the river. My boating experience extends to a drive your own at riverside amusements, but as I can't swim, maybe that's just as well.It sounded lovely this weather.
Glad to hear the 'patient' is well joan & hope the stitches coming out don't bother him too much. Does he have to wear a collar til then.
Well done on at least getting your bathroom cleaned applerose, mine is a shambles right now, the side of the bath is off while I attempt a bit of plumbing :? and there are spanners and general untidiness, so I could do with a hand.Glad your Dad is eating better & seems brighter.
Wishing barbara's GD a Happy Birthday, going to put the kettle on & defrost the fridge (mine not 'ours'), see you anon. xx0 -
Afternoon all
I gave up this morning again..Toady think I will have to look on ebay for a new laptop.. glad you are enjoying yours...and thanks for the birthday wishes for my GD..its a shame really her daddy stops her contract for her phone today it was for her birthday 2 years ago so now she pays for her own..but they have to learn...think she is getting giff gaf*..very cheap
Joan glad that peppa is doing ok..bless her bet you and Sue were worried
Christine glad you dad is a bit brighter...but not nice having to go at night on your own..Im glad to see you son could bring you home
Just been to Ald** for greens and fruit for my bullet..its much better with frozen fruit nice and cold..so I use both
Righ were are these chocs that Toady brought in the cafe...how come Ican eat sweet stuff but not savory.....
See you all later xxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Joan, glad to hear Peppa is well.
Mmmm, chocolates Toady. Is there a coffee cream one I could have, please?
Toady, I had the side of the bath off for quite a while at one time. There was a hole in the seal round the bath and the shower was leaking and the water was going through the hole so I had to turn the water off when I wasn't using it.
Barbara, it is a shame that your GD is having her contract stopped but you're right, they do need to learn. My brother's wife's son is looking for his own flat. He keeps finding one but, when they sit down and work out how much it will cost him with the bills too, he says no, I'll stay here a bit longer. He can't believe how much it is.
Well the 18 year old, where I work, has gone off to uni. His little sister has decided to have his room so I gave it a good clean (something I haven't been able to do for quite a while) for her. So she now has a bedroom and is using her old bedroom as a dressing room.Christine0 -
*passes the coffee cremes*
Nice chocs actually & there were others when I looked at the site today I hadn't seen when ordering, like some salted caramels but thin.. bit like a round after8.. may have to pop back & get some next time, there are a few salted caramel fans here I think.
Yes I have had plenty of turn-the-water-off incidents here too, appleroseit was a huge help when I finally got a new stoptap for a start, as before that the old one only turned off so far :? & on top I have tried to have isolating valves fitted in some cases so I can turn off the offending item.
Not surprised the cost of renting+bills is putting off flathunters these days, I saw a flat advertised the other day for x£ pcm inc all bills, I thought well it can hardly be all so there must be a bit of small print there. Ooh, a dressing room for your boss's daughter, that's the stuff of dreams at her age.
Gi*f-gaf* seem to get a good press barbara, well they get my approval anyway because they ran a thing a while back to help battery henswish they still did it but I don't think so. Glad you have stocked up on greens etc, it's the one thing I wish the milkman would bring, well fruit & veg in general, then it would be a big help between online shops. They used to do a mixed fruit&veg box when they started but I guess enough people didn't order it.
Quite tonight so I'll fix myself a coffee and sit here mulling things over & thinking philosophical thoughts.Have a good night. xx

Hello all, I need a coffee, and something sweet as a pick me up. Hope all are ok.
First the good news - I think. :? Hip pain etc is just a bad attack of Sciatica  so feel a bit embarassed about that. Taking co codamol occasionally.
The rest isn't so good I'm afraid. First, my sero negative RA is now sero positive. My liver function is raised quite a lot. Other tests are elevated because of steroids. But the worst thing. I have vasculitis, which is causing all sorts of problems including itching. I now have to go to the day care unit on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday next week for 3 Methylprednisolone infusions. Rheumy nurse is arranging delivery of Methotrexate injections and prescription for folic acid. Not happy!! I've had to cancel my oncology appointment which should have been on 30th (day of second infusion) and make it for a later date. I've decided to cancel my next dermatology appointment as they can't do any more for me now that rheumy has taken control. My head aches, I have constant buzzing in my head/ears. Sorry to be so negative, but you can see why I need the coffee and hopefully a large piece of any cake that's going.
Sending love and hugs to everyone, take care. Chat soon. xxx"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Oh dear Kath sorry about all your problems hope you feel better soon,my ra showed positive on the first visit and blood test with the good Dr P,most of the drugs played havoc with my liver count so I had to stop them and go on to anti tnfs ,I shall be sending good thoughts for you.
I LOVE COFFEE CREMES any left, love to all Mig0 -
Thank you for the coffee creme Toady. My stopcock under the kitchen sink doesn't turn off fully so there's always a trickle. When I had a new bathroom suite put in a few years ago, the plumber put valves on everything in there which is very handy.
Barbara, I remember going to the phonebox round the corner to phone mum and dad. When my daughter went to uni, I used to phone her. She stayed in a house which had been turned in to flats and there was a phone at the front door. Whoever heard it would answer and go and find my daughter. I watched Cilla last night. Brought back memories.
Oh Kath, that's not so good. I hope it all gets sorted out quickly for you. You certainly deserve a huge slice of cake with your cuppa.
Mig, I'm sure there are a few coffee cremes left. I'm sure I didn't eat them all.
Just waiting for a free bed at a respite centre for dad now. He'll be there for up to a week then he'll go home. He'll need a lot of help but nurses will see to him morning and evening. We'll have to sort the rest out between us. Think I'll have a cuppa and another chocolate if that's ok.Christine0
