just checking that the night staff are doing their duties.

Cate, I know how you feel, but everything will still be there tomorrow. OH does so much already, I do what I can, things that are waist height I can dust and fuss, above and below, no chance. Mithered, haven't heard that in a long time, Mum always said to me, stop mithering when I was young.

You can certainly have a bed. There are always suitable vetted staff on duty. Your GD sounds adorable.

Hope you rested well Elizabeth, those vague days, yes, the ones so many of us know. I call it my Fybro fog, descends like a brick wall. Hoping you feel better today. I was nattering the other night and wondered, how many of us wake up and feel refreshed? I wish. Anyway, I won't get to maudling.

Hi Rose, help yourself to beds and cream cakes, now, there's a nice thought, lying in bed, with a large cream cake and a black and white movie on tv.

    Take care, XXXX Bubbles

Morning all, bitter cold here in Nottm think heating will be on all day.
Middle son is coming to start tiling the bathroom, well it's really a wet room the part that the shower is on is staying plain white tiles as it's got a special membrane under them the rest is being done in beige patterned tiles with three rows of grey mosaic tiles ( the narrow ones) that way it will match the curtain and mats and so on if we had done it all white it would have seemed so cold.
Got a piece of brisket for tomorrow's lunch been a long time since I cooked it fingers crossed it turns out ok. Mig

Popping in now while I'm off work and my eyes aren't too bad. I've noticed supermarket lights make them worse and the computer screen or when I'm tired. :o

Cate, I get those days too. So frustrating. Hope it eases soon. My mam used to say mithered. How sweet of your GD sending kisses. And headache in her foot. Aaaw!

Elizabeth, that's men for you. They just don't think, leaving you to do the work. Makes shopping a bigger chore than it is. Maybe you need to tie him to a bungie rope.

Bubbles, waking up refreshed? What's that? I do feel refreshed in my head but my body just laughs at me.

Mig, I'd love a wet room. Yours will be lovely. bet you can't wait to use it.

Barbara, think you do need to see your GP again. Your headache and sinuses are lasting too long. That's one of the biggest problems working in a care home, people dying. Hope it didn't hit your GD too hard.

Joan hope you and Sue are having a good weekend.

Mango's flights are booked for 27th April so he needs his vaccinations and blood tests doing from the beginning of March. it means he'll be leaving me in the next few weeks to go to Edinburgh to his other grandparents ready to fly from Glasgow.

Hope everyone is having as good a weekend as possible. I'm off to make yet another cuppa. Have left 2 already in the kitchen because I forgot about them.

Afternoon Mig Barbara, Joan Rose and apologies if I missed anyone who snook in the back door, not that there is much room with all these beds !

Hope the tiling goes to plan Mig, sounds v nice. Ours is all white, with those doors for getting a chair in and out. Just come out of the shower myself. Early bath for me. My fond regards to Nottingham.

Poached eggs suitably enjoyed I trust Barbara. Bless, it is a shock when someone passes away and you have never had to deal with this life event. She can work part time in our mini ward, all us lot would put her to the test lol. Have you had Doxycycline Barbara, one a day? They are pretty good AB's and strong to boot. Hugs for the headache to go away

I like your comment on waking up refreshed Rose. Arthur and all other things alongside just don't add up to a refreshed state. You are as bad as me, doing something in the kitchen, then wandering off and finding my pills and drink on the side an hour later. Not good when you have three cats that like to be nosey

Hope everyone has a quiet evening, not sure what is on tv, we will watch something we have recorded, so we can whizz through the adverts. XX Bubbles

    Hello everyone,

Cate, you can have my bed. I've warmed it up for you. :D Aaahhh, how sweet of your GD to blow you kisses. They do come out with some cute but funny sayings.

Bubbles, can't remember the last time I woke up refreshed. Think it was pre 1980. Everything has left me with the dreaded FOG. :(

Christine, I hope mango's flight goes well. Will you have some cuddling time with him before he leaves you?

Joan, you are right about anti biotics. I can only take a few, Doxycycline, Amoxycillin, or Fluxloxicillin. Can't take Cipro though as it gave me tendonitis. But I am on prophylactic Azithromycin for my lungs. One on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, low dose.

Barbara, did you enjoy your poached egg? I just fancy one (or two) on toast now.

Mig, I have a wet room. They removed the bath and replaced it with a shower which fills the space. It took two and a half weeks to finish. I had to delay my mastectomy to get it done as I didn't think I'd cope with it after surgery. I would have been right. Liking the sound of brisket tomorrow. Enjoy. :D

Elizabeth, sorry to make you hungry. Any foodie talk makes me hungry. The thought of Barbara's poached egg has my stomach rumbling. Think I'll go get an apple. Got to watch the weight, and my blood pressure.

Ooo, I had a poached egg with a trout for lunch. I would have had a kipper but didn't have one.

Bubbles, the other thing I forget is my Yorkshire puddings. I buy ready made and pop them in the oven while I'm dishing up the rest. As I buy gluten free, it turns out expensive.

Kath, yes I'm having cuddling time with Mango now. My daughter (and the relocation people) has agreed for him to have his jabs and bloods done at the vet near me so I'll have him for a few more weeks. That took a long time to put your wet room in.

Don't worry about moaning Barbara. You don't usually so it must be bothering you a lot. Hope you get some help tomorrow. I've heard of the filter. Must look out for one. Not sure I'd get a dog. I'm out a lot and I'd need to get it looked after. Don't like to leave it in kennels and they are expensive but everyone I know has a dog or cat.

Wow, Kath. You could open a pharmacy in the cafe and dish some out to us. Think you've got everything we'd need.

We had a few minutes of hail while we were out walking. Started just after we went out so thank goodness it didn't last. Sorted out a box I found in a cupboard in the spare room. It was full of ornaments I'd had in my last house but I'd never unpacked them. I've been here 20 years now. Think trip to the charity shop is in order.

Nearly forgot. My GS in Australia has been going to creche for a couple of weeks now. He came home one day and told my daughter that he had a girlfriend with long hair in a pony tail. :jheart: A couple of days ago, the creche had a bbq and the parents were invited. My daughter went and decided to introduce herself to my GS's girlfriend's mum. When my daughter told the woman what my GS had said, she replied, 'He's a boy.' :o Thankfully it happens a lot to them and the woman was fine about it. My poor GS is a bit confused now. As far as he's concerned, boys have short hair and girls have long hair.

Poor Barbara!!! What on earth is going on with you? :(

Eyes don't 'swell' for nothing??!!! You have been proper poorly now for ages and it's time it was sorted. Temperatures indicate infection. I hope the doc has done bloods by now??? ((())) xxx

Christine - I love the story about the 'girl' with long hair!!! I am not overly keen on boys with long hair myself when they're young....or earrings ...bets left for kids to decide themselves when they're older

I know you'll miss Mango, but doggies are a tie...you would have to arrange your life so much around one. That's why I have Daisycat - she's independent :)

Poor KathT!!! Your medication list reads like Lucy's and some  You must be very organised that's all I can say. Especially with all those creams to remember and probably use as specific times :?

Lucy also had prophylactic antibiotics. Weekends only.

Hello Bubbles :) What is waking up refreshed?? :? Hahaha! Mind you I am just grateful to be in my own bed and not listening to the beep-beep- beep of the pumps administering chemo to kids

We watched Death in Paradise recorded while we waited for Lucy's party to finish last night. Never much on on Saturdays :(

Hello Joan - all is well with us lot here, I hope the same with you Sue and the doggies????

Mig - the plans for the wet room sound lovely. we have a row of mosaic tiles too...not cheap but very effective :)

Fingers crossed for your brisket ;)

Elizabeth our Marks has no-where to park either, but the staff will do anything for you so they make up for it :)

I hope you are feeling a little less tired today and that all the kids are ok ((()))

Aw Cate :) Blowing you face-time kisses :loverain: How sweet is your Granddaughter?!!!

I have broken 5 glasses and one side-plate this last couple of weeks so I know how you feel

    Right sleeves up!!

Toni..I never get headaches.the infection has definitely got hold I will have to go back tomorrow..I just dont want to see an ear nose and throat person that will be 4 consultants   not long now till Lucy goes to London..I cant wait to see the pics and all this is a boost for her..they should be honoured to her presence :D

Morning everyone, cold and wet here, so a day for reading and doing my nails. My nine year old granddaughter loves my nails, and is glad that I "don't have old ladies hands". Bless her, maybe she needs a trip to Specsavers!

My son has Netflix and has included me, although I'm not much of a film buff. I did watch the first series of Last tango in Halifax again. I love that programme as I know the area well. I do think it's not quite as good now though.

Well, I'm relieved to find that Mango is a much loved doggie. I wondered why he/she was being sent to grandparents in Scotland, then dispatched across the world. I imagined a little Paddington Bear with his suitcase.

Right, some toast with lime curd, and a builders tea, then I think I'd better test the beds again. With Bubbles nursing skills, and Kath's dispensary, I reckon we are all in good hands......Cate..x

Morning all, it is looking very tidy around the cafe / ward. You have been busy Toni, hats off to you. Breaking things in the kitchen, ditto, I send things flying all the time, even if I can see it and know where it is, I can still send it crashing. The cats even know to take cover.

A day nearer to sorting out your infection Barbara, let's hope they do and quickly too, it is no fun at all, eyes and sinuses being poorly, makes you feel really rotten.

Cath, that is some list. I was going to write mine down, but when I got to 26 different prescriptions I gave up  . I average about 52-55 tabs a day, depending on pain levels. Between us we will keep the pharmacy stocked with just about everything in the national formulary. No wonder I don't wake up feeling refreshed, I am permanently half baked !!

OH has just popped round to see the folks. I would normally have a little walk, about 50 yards, but, it is wet, cold and blowing, so decided to stop indoors and ramp up the heating.

Will watch some of the downhill skiing, love winter sports and tennis, we follow the ATP tour from one end of the year to the other. Love to see the snow in the alps. Going to Norway, above the arctic circle is on my bucket list, to see the Northern Lights, but, I doubt it would ever come to fruition, Nice to dream though.

Oh, I see snow outside, so may not need to go to Norway !!!

Afternoon everyone, raining here now. At least it's not snow, although I see Bubbles has some. :o

Don't be amazed at my organizational skill, I use a rather large pill sorter and have to concentrate hard while putting them all in the right order. Creams I use first thing in the morning, midday and before bed. I've got into the habit now.

Cate, good idea, think I'll have a lie down too. My youngest grandson will be 13 next month. I only have one granddaughter, six grandsons. Lee - 28, Reece 23, Oakley 18, Willow 16, Chester 15, Shay 14 and Campbell almost 13. Lee, Reece and Shay are brothers, Oakley and Willow are brother and sister, Chester and Campbell are brothers. :D

Barbara, I don't know how you are coping with your sinuses and headaches. They are far worse than mine. Hope you get some relief soon. :?

Toni, you've done us proud again.
You can always tell when Toni's been in,
the Cafe sparkles like a new pin.
She washes dishes, scrubs the floor,
and even empties the dusty bin.

Christine, I love oily fish but have never had Trout. Would love to try some. Adore Mackerel, Salmon and Kippers. :P Also love Yorkshire Puddings, would be lovely to find some in the cafe one day (hint hint :D )

Hope Joan, Sue, Coco, Elizabeth and whoever else is missing are all ok.

    Morning Joan and Barbara,

I hope your snow has disappeared now Joan, and not affecting your trips out on your scooter.

Barbara, let's hope this next lot of antibiotics do the job. Visiting another hospital department is the last thing you need. A friend had a lot of the symptoms that you have, and after many AB's and tests, was told it was something called Post Nasal Drip. Google it to see if you think it could be something like that. I hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.

Right, tea and toast, then I'm just gonna see if I can get Kath out of bed. If not, I'll squeeze in with her!.....Cate.x

Hi Joan Barbara Kath Toni Mig Elizabeth Cate (who did I miss)? Sorry if I did, but hi too

Tablets for the ache Joan - no more pills, please. If it was up to the Rheumy Dr I would be on a whole load more than I am already - I said, no, to 200mg of Amitryptiline a day, 75mg is ok, then there is room to increase if needed. Also the pregabalin, I take 8 a day, which is less than he wanted, but again, I would never get up. Tramadol I try and keep to 3, max 4 a day, but can take 8  CO codamol is at max dose. Then we get onto the pills for my heart................The fun starts when I forget to fill up my travelling pills pot, or once I forgot to take my Evening meds, what a fuss, 50 miles away from home. Sticky notes all over now, just in case I forget, which I do, often.

Let's hope that this course of AB's do the trick Barbara, well wishes and hugs, as always.

Lovely to see the pics of the family Kath.

Hope you managed to get some bed space. I think we need a Ward, to run alongside the cafe :)

Been out for lunch today, was an effort, but worth it. I avoided looking into the cake counter. The wind was SO cold, blew straight through us.

Hope everyone is keeping safe and warm. I have done the pots g110.gif so we need some more !
    I gave the loo's a mop, a065.gif

I am not sure, maybe I was dreaming, but I thought I saw Mac.

Oi, not sharing, I'll get out.

Actually spent the morning at my respiratory clinic. All good. :D Until it was time to go home and I tried to ring OH to let him know I was on my way. Every time I tried, my mobile kept cancelling the call. Tried a few more numbers - no problem. It's the house phone that has a fault on the line. :x We can ring out, but it's not receiving calls. Rang the phone company. They are working on it. Oh well, hope it doesn't take too long.

Oh dear Barbara, not more anti b's. Got everything crossed for you, even my eyes. Hope this lot works for you. Has your GP suggested a nasal rinse? Never had one, but read about them - BTW, when my eldest GS was born, I was 36. Same year I was diagnosed with RA. Middle daughter (his mum) was just 16. She has 3 boys now, and is a brilliant mum in spite of the youthful start.

Joan, SNOW!! Horrible stuff. Hope it clears away soon.

Better not tell Christine that I've just had a mug of......no, mustn't say it.

Sorry about the crumbs in the bed Cate, I had a packet of salt free crisps. Love them, but I keep forgetting there's a sachet of salt in there and have almost eaten it a couple of time.

Just noticed you bubbles, well, Mac's back is he? Must get him in a nurses uniform so he can help out on the ward. :o:lol: I'm sure you will soon lick him into shape - er, perhaps not. :?

Toni, I always have something recorded for Saturday nights although I do like And and Dec. I'm forever dropping things. Thankfully don't break too much.

Barbara, I've often seen chefs putting a poached egg on top of haddock. As I only had trout, I used that. I've got my fingers crossed (my toes were already crossed) hoping these ABs work and you don't need the ENT person. Hope you are a bit better today and the rheumie appointment goes well tomorrow.

Cate, that reminds me of my nieces when they were very young and they used to nip my mum's skin (they didn't hurt her) and thought it was strange that is stayed as it was and didn't go back down. Even mum thought it was funny. Yes, Mango is very much loved by all of us. His family are missing him and he has been howling, when he hears them, to ask them to come and get him. He is going to Scotland because he has had the first lot of tests there when they were all visiting up there and he is flying from Glasgow. Dogs can only fly from there or Heathrow, which is too far for me. Glasgow is only an hour from his Scottish family.

Bubbles, you take such a lot of tablets too. Don't think I could swallow that many. I just about manage two. I went out to take the dog for a walk but it was freezing so, other than that, I've stayed at home. I had a day's holiday and felt I should have gone somewhere but brrrrr, no thanks. Hope you enjoyed your lunch out.

Kath, you need to try trout. It's a lovely tasting fish. I've put some Yorkshire puddings in the freezer. Mostly normal ones but a few gluten free in case anyone wants them. Lovely to see pics of your family Kath. Hope you got home ok and your phone gets fixed soon. So what did you have a mug of? I can't think. My memory's not too good.

Sorry you had snow today Joan. It didn't snow here but it was freezing and windy. Hope you and Sue kept warm.

Not a nice day here today at all. Very windy and bitterly cold. Mango and I only had a quick walk as the cold wind was really getting at my neck. Creak creak. My son has put their house on the market. They have decided to move in to the town to be closer to everything. They live in a small village at the moment and there is no bus and quite a walk to the school. It'll be easier for me to visit and they'll not need such a big mortgage so can do more fun things. I collected a brass door knocker yesterday offered by someone on freecycle. I went to put it on today and realised I've already got one.:lol: Well you don't use your own door knocker, do you? Don't think anyone else uses it either. Everyone seems to knock on the window so I forgot I had one.
