Hello everyone,
Oh, I've died and gone to heaven! Pies and cakes everywhere. I may never leave this place. Emily is trending Yeah! Good job it's all calorie free. I lost over four stone two years ago, and it's really hard keeping it off.
So good to hear the little one is up to her old tricks Barbara. I hope you have as much resilience after your next op.
Kath, I don't know how you manage to keep on top of all your meds. It does sound as though you are well looked after by your medics though.
Isn't it strange how I always manage to arrive just as Emily has finished baking. No, I don't pay her to let me know........she does it out of the goodness of her heart! x.
Much love to everyone, and enjoy the pies.....if you can find any...Cate.x0 -
Hello all..
Cate I had better stop calling her the baby her name is Niamh..I find it hard to remember how to spell it.. :oops:you did so well getting all that weight off..like you say the trick is in keeping it off..I am sure you will
its a lot cooler here today..
I have just bought a dress at half price I have liked it for a while, but the other day my youngest son said mum you used to look lovely in a dress...think that means I don't in trousers.. :roll:I never used to wear trouser but have lived in them for a few years now..
Right I will go and look what Emily has cooked up for today..Love

well I had a small nap and during this time my 11 year old has gone to town with her friends. Then she rings to say that one girl has lost her purse but I'm a bit suspicious because this girl is a drama queen and doesn't even seem to be looking for it. Then she rings to say this girl's Dad is picking them up but then says her Dad will only pick his Daughter up (what dad does that)? The other girl says my Daughter cannot come back with her on the train and wait at her house so I speak to her and tell her straight she will bring my D. back on the train otherwise I will be 'speaking to her parents about her disrespectful, thoughtless behaviour (luckily her parents are very nice). So fingers crossed she gets back to the station where OH is waiting.
To make matters worse my OH was in the same place at 5 and could have arranged to pick them up but of course I was asleep and not aware of anything!
I'm fuming now.....

She's back now. The other girls parents are aware of the situation from OH as they were waiting at the station too.
Good news that baby is recovering well. I hope the op makes a difference to her health. The lure of a kinder egg always works
I've not worn a dress or or skirt for many years either Barbara.
I'll try catch up on your thumb op threads Barbara. I usually on visit ChitChat nowadays.
Kath sorry to hear your lung function results were lower but good that you are keeping an eye. Nip it in the bud as they say.
I think its great fun that a little piece of you is going to Mars Applerose! I hope your Dad is feeling better.
Hello Joan. Hope all is well.
I'm trying to avoid all the pies and cakes if I can.Never be bullied into silence.

Good evening everyone. Just read very quickly.
Glad the baby is feeling better Barbara.
Is Emily cooking our meals for us now? How wonderful.
Glad you got your daughter home safely Elizabeth.
Joan, hope you've had a good day.
Have you ate all the pies again Cate?
My dad was taken in to intensive care last night. When they give him meds for one thing, it is affecting another part of his body so it's a vicious circle at the moment. Sounds as if it'll take some time to get things right again. Went to see him this afternoon and he's hooked up to a lot of wires and tubes on both sides. He was a bit brighter though and is eating a little.Christine0 -
Good morning all what a wet night we have had,its still drizzling and breezy just the sort of day for staying in.
Where is the meat ? Kath I need beef ,chicken, pork ,lamb and fish of any kind ,has the cafe gone veggie ?
Anyone doing anything for the bank holiday ? middle son is going to take us to the cash and carry and to Du.. He.. mill to buy new cushions .
Shall make a coffee and watch JK I'm sorry but I like him.
Glad your dad is a little better Applerose.
Take care all Mig0 -
Oh dear Christine
Your poor Dad and you too you must be so worried. Sending him strength and you some ((())) xxx
Morning Mig! Do you know I noticed our menu for today had no meat in it and was really pleased!!! I tell you what there's some sausagy pies in the fridge if you'd like one?
No plans for the bank hol here other than to rest
Elizabeth - like you I rarely venture further than chit-chat these days.
I do hope your poor Lucy is ok and not upset by that nasty behaviour from those girlsWhy is it some girls are so nasty to others and I didn't believe the purse story either.
Good to hear all is well anyway.
Kath please thank Emily for the menu - I have started on my breakfast already
I chose the porridge yum
Thanks for doing the washing up too
I've hoovered and mopped the floor
Hi JoanI hope you and Sue are well and that the poor doggies can get out today (raining here
)
Barbara such good news that Niamh is so much better, but I rather like her being called Baby
Well done getting your bargain dress
I agree with you hip FIRST them thumb
Cate I am getting worried about you!! You seem to be in pie heaven!!It IS a good job they are all calorie-free so you can enjoy them to your heart's content
Have left you a caramel macchiato 'specially
Love

Hello everyone, Emily has been having fun making up suggested recipes. Mig, there are always meat pies in the fridge, you don't have to stick to the menu, it's just there for those who are too tired to heat up anything else.
Toni, glad you enjoyed the non meat menu. I had both breakfast options.
Christine, Cate can't eat all the pies, Emily has left a chart of what food is in, we tick and initial whatever we eat so she knows what is needed to replenish. Could be a bit embarrassing if anyone (like me) overdoes it.
Elizabeth, I'm glad your daughter got home safe and sound. Dread to think what might have happened.
Suggested Menu:
Breakfast:
English muffins with poached egg
Bacon & sausage with fried tomatoes
Kippers with brown bread and butter
Dinner:
Spaghetti Bolognaise
Steak and kidney pie
peas and sweetcorn
chips
baked potato with choice of cheese, mince or curry
Marmalade Pudding
Supper:
savoury omelette
cornish pasty or cheese pasty
chips
stewed fruit and custard or pancakes with honey, jam or lemon curd
All these will be available over the next few days along with the usual pies and cakes etc. Should give us a nice varied selection. :P

Toni we Mum's know when a story doesn't sound right don't we?
I have to say one of the girls is usually lovely (the one with nice parents) and not the nasty sort at all but I think that the other girl wanted to go back to her house without L, (probably with her Dad collecting them but not L) even though it meant abandoning L on her first ever trip on the train without a parent or adult accompanying her. That girl came up with such pathetic excuses and I did get very angry. She will no longer be welcome in my house.
Kath I'd love the fry up AND the savoury omelette! Is that being too greedy?
Mig I only recently discovered D*N*LM M*ll. They do have some lovely soft furninshings.
It has poured down today but now the sun is shining. I might still book a last min holiday, having been thwarted so far. I have found a working farm near family, and therefore the beach, but it is booked for Bank holiday weekend. It will be on my list of places to stay.
Applerose I hope your Dad will continue to brighten up and get better. It must have been a shock to hear he was going to be put in intensive care.
I hope your breathing is still okay Kath.
Has Barbara gone out for the day? I think the weather is nicer oop North.
Love to those not able to pop in....

Joan, you can eat as little or as much as you need. We also love Quorn products, but I'm not a veggie.
Elizabeth, same applies to you, if you want fry up and savoury omelette, you go ahead and have them.
And although it isn't necessary to burp. nobody will mind if you do. I certainly do from time to time.
Cate not popped in yet? I'll put a double helping of marmalade pudding out for her. I'm sure she'll have a builders with that."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Thanks for your thoughts for my dad and me. He was just the same today but they had him sitting in a chair. Can't post much as one eye feels as if it's been sandpapered so only looking out of one slightly blurry one. :cheers:Christine0

I think Christine that your Dad being in a chair is a good sign
I hope your eyes are easier now.
When they're like that please don't read back just let us know you are ok
Oh Elizabeth us Mum's can definitely spot a fishy tale!!! I think your theory is right and chances are the nice girl wasn't too happy about it either, but possibly the other one is 'powerful' at school. She wouldn't be welcome in my house either.
Do book a holiday you really deserve one
I think a few of us like qu*rn then Kath! I knew Joan and Sue do so easy enough to stick some of those in the fridge
I rather like the idea of us signing out for our pies!!
Yes I can do that
Hi Joan. How is Lexi's paw now?? Is she back to normal yet? We have sunshine ATM
Barbara Niamh will always be the baby in your family probably even when she is 40!!! Hehehe!

Good morning Toni and Joan,
Emily's breakfasts are a great selection aren't they.....well, the whole menu really. I've never been able to eat much before lunch time, but will have the bacon and sausage then. With a builders and bread and butter to make butties. Then the marmalade pud that our Kath kindly saved for me.
Christine, I hope your dad is better today. He is being well looked after it seems.
I'm not feeling too great at the moment, as from today until Monday is the time we had planned for us all to be together. I had some great ideas for places to take the kids. So don't worry if I'm not around much. I'll just be trying to keep myself occupied. I speak to both my sons most days. They care very much, so that will do me. Although my elder son said yesterday that there needs to be a discussion. I'll be guided by him.
All this signing for the pies is going to leave me with a seriously sore wrist!!
Much love to you all.......Cate.x0 -
Morning all lovely and sunny here..
Toni it sounds like good news coming...yes she will be the baby at 40...
she doesn't say much but has learned to say daddy pleaseeee... she knows how to work it
Joan..our physio id brilliant and when you are discharged you can still ring them..I have 3 lots of splints at the min ..ones for the crutches...hope you both have a good day

Popping in while I can see straight and before work.
Barbara, two trips for bloods? Ooo! Hope they went ok. Hope the splints are helping. Not easy with just one hand though.
Toni, I won't read back too far or I'll end up not posting at all. I see you have some news and you are keeping us all waiting. Looking forward to hearing what it is.
Joan, that's good to hear that Lexi is back to normal now.
Cate, sorry to hear you are not too well at the moment. Are you still getting together? Hope you feel better soon.
Not heard any more about my dad but my sister is visiting at lunchtime and my brother at teatime.
I have bought a T*sc* H*dl. Set up was very easy. I can even talk to G**gle and ask it things. I think I prefer the bigger screen on the laptop and I can't find a chat for FB but it will be good for while I'm travelling.Christine0 -
Hello all,
Well, we can certainly have some pies made with Quorn mince, and use some Quorn sausage for the sausage and mash. I've been pondering on making it easier for those with painful hands/wrists to sign out their grub, we'll have a menu list ready made up, with labels (self sticking) with our names on. A bit like postage stamps. A book for each person, (is this getting a bit too posh?) you just peel off a name label and put it beside your meal choice. I did consider using fridge magnets, but they might get lost.If anyone has a better suggestion, please let us know.
Christine, I'm sorry about your eye problems. My eyelids have started to get very itchy. I think it's caused by my Hypromellose drops, so I've started to smear a little vaseline across them - it helps. :?
Barbara, I don't think it's the moths that eat the clothes, I think it's their grubs. I hope your new splints help with your hands.
Cate, I couldn't see you going without marmalade pudding now, could I. Hope you're feeling a bit better today.
Toni, can't wait to hear your news. So exciting.
Sending you all gentle hugs.

Barbara - Niamh will be like 'Little Mo' on Eastenders!! Still 'little' at 50!! My bro didn't talk much either because us siblings knew what he wanted so he had no need to
Cate - you keep busy and do whatever you need to we are right behind you ((())). Elder son has got sense
Enjoy your pies - we will know you've sneaked in if some are missing
