    Emily's ginger cake. Help yourselves.

Hello all. For some reason, yesterday my laptop was playing up. I wanted to post the above photo, but Photob****t kept playing up. Thankfully it's working today, hence the yummy looking cake photo. :D

Toni, how lovely for Lucy. Will she has to be away from home for long while training? I bet she looks gorgeous in her uniform. :)

Elizabeth, that must have been a difficult and painful job for you. You should be proud of yourself for managing it. :o

Joan, we did have a good day today, I helped OH tidy the front garden. Just a bit of trimming back and sweeping up. He does all the heavy work. Glad we only have a small garden. :?

Barbara, thank you for the compliment, but I think Emily's blog is far more amusing than mine.

I hope everyone are feeling reasonably good, the sky here is going a bit gloomy, I think the rain is on the way. Quick blast of sunshine.

:sun: :sunny: :sun: :sunny: :sun: :sunny: :sun: :sunny:

Barbara, you did tell me about Whattsapp. My GD suggested I use it too but I don't seem to be able to sign in to it, despite her showing me how.

Joan, hope it isn't turning too cold where you are. Some people are saying they are putting the heating on and have put their winter duvets on.

Elizabeth, I have a spare pair of glasses but I like to leave one pair at home and one in my handbag. I'm having to remember each morning to put them back in. Would you believe my boss used to own a company with about 100 employees. They made payroll software. But somehow he didn't know I should have been getting paid holidays. My sisters are always on their phones sending texts. Just don't have enough for me. Just left a message for my sister on FB, as she asked. Guess what. She's posting on there but hasn't replied to me. She'll probably wait till I've gone to work tomorrow. It is a bit of a nightmare trying to do things like sewing when your eyes are bad. Hope you managed ok. Good luck to Lucy for her first day back at school. Hope the DWP visit went ok.

Toni, I hope Lucy has enjoyed her induction and is ready to get on with the course.

Yummy. That ginger cake looks good Kath. I find sometimes I can't get to the ph*t*b*cket page I need to upload to and I end up on a page where they want me to buy photos.

It's going to be a long day tomorrow. Work in the morning, a half hour walk to the care home to pick up some things for my dad, back down to a nurse appointment, almost home to pick up washing my sister did for my dad then to the hospital to visit dad. Hopefully, I will find my glasses in a drawer. Don't think I mentioned it but I bought an adult colouring book at the weekend. And some colouring pencils. Haven't tried it yet but my friend is enjoying colouring. Was it you Kath who does it on your phone/ipad?

Toni, my niece did hairdressing at college. I couldn't believe how much she had to carry with her.

Joan, I've lost posts a few times. It is very annoying, isn't it?

Barbara, bet your hair looks lovely. I've left mine longer than usually so I can get it done before I go away. Didn't realise I could get someone to invite me to use Whatsapp. Think I'll have to give it a go.

Pretty miserable here today weatherwise. Yaay, I've got my glasses back. Got to the hospital and dad was wearing them. So I put them in my bag and got him to put on the ones I gave to my brother to take. Went to see the travel nurse today to find out if I needed any jabs. The only one she suggested was tetanus so I got that. I'm sure I had one a few years ago. I remember the nurse then telling me that because of my age, I wouldn't ever need another one but it wasn't on my records. Not to worry. I'm topped up again.

Morning all,Bright but very chilly here today .We went to the theatre last night to see Alan Carr he is touring with his show called Yap Yap Yap,we left at the interval it just wasn't the type of show for us.
We are going to a house warming and barbecue at my cousins tomorrow ,the wider family only seem to get together at funerals these days so it will be good to see everyone in a happier circumstance.
Hope you all have a good week-end.Mig

was this you having your tetanus??

    Hi mig

I agree it's nice for families to get together other than sad occasions and hope the housewarming goes well :)

Shame you didn't enjoy the show :(

Well it was overcast here, but now the sun is out :)

Toni I bet you do miss Lucy but how lovely she is able to move on and get her life back on track. Think of the money you'll save in future getting Lucy to do your hair! :sunny: How are your other 2 girls? Did Charley get on the ambulance paramedic course?

Glad the specs turned up Applerose. I thought someone from the hospital was doing a roaring trade in 2nd hand glasses. Glad the tetanus went well, they had to chase Daniel to get his done.
Lucy wanted 2 colouring books, she's done half a page so far. Honestly she wants everything and has no concept of money.

I bet you look lovely Barbara. Mine needs sorting but it is so expensive so might just get it cut this time.

Lucy loves her new school and already can't be bothered to wait for her big Brother to be ready to leave! She's up, organised and out the door before he is even dressed. Yep I finally got the sewing done. Luckily the boys didn't need new school clothes - I hope they have now finished growing!

I've luckily managed to get a canal trip booked for Sunday. Dan's 16th birthday is tomorrow but chose Sunday for the trip. I'd better get a cake!

I went to Rheummy appt yesterday and she suggested I swap humira for rituximab (hope I've spelt it right) because of all the breathing trouble I get (even the DWP woman said get something for that cough lol) but she's going to get a reassurance I can go back on humira if I need or want to.

Shame you lost your post Joan. Maybe someone was posting at the same time. I always check it has posted before I leave.

Hope everyone is okay now the weather has turned. I won't put my heating on but have shut the windows now.

Off for a tidy up before goin to buy the cake. The cards are all sorted and they are all photo's of Greyhounds :D

Kath good luck with the scan. I know it is scary incase it is clots but hopin they can treat them once they know. x
    Take care all

    Hello all,

Just been to look at Emily's latest blog. I'll chat with her on the phone later, and tell her the ginger cake is going down a treat.

Barbara, I bet your hair looks lovely. I have the same style all the time, shaved to within an inch of its life. But I find it so difficult keeping it tidy otherwise.

Elizabeth, I'm so pleased that Lucy likes her school. I'm sure Dan will have a great birthday what with the canal trip you booked. :D I know a couple of RA sufferers who have Rituximab, they are doing well on it.

mig, enjoy the house warming. I can't say I've every watched Alan Carr.

Toni, how lovely it will be when Lucy can practice her skills on you.

Christine, I didn't know there was an 'end date' on the tetanus. I think I must have passed it as I can't remember having one for some time now. :? Yes, I have a colouring app called Colorfy on my iPad.

Joan, oh those missing posts. They are so annoying when you've gone to all that trouble to type it up. :x

To be honest Elizabeth, my consultant said she wasn't expecting anything but just checking to rule blood clots out, due to my unusual breathlessness when my oxygen level are pretty good.

    Need more exercise

Sorry you didn't enjoy Alan Carr's show Mig. Hope you enjoy the bbq. It'll be good for you all to get together.

Toni, there was a new practice nurse in the room while I got my tetanus jab. Didn't realise it was you.

Elizabeth, I think a lot of teenagers don't understand money. They don't seem to realise that there's only so much. Happy birthday to Dan for tomorrow. Hope he enjoys his canal trip.

Barbara, hope your GD finds going back to school isn't as bad as she thinks it will be. Maybe when she meets up with her friends, she'll be ok.

Joan, that was lucky getting an appointment so soon.

Kath, I'm sure that's all the scan is for - to rule out the blood clots. Difficult not to worry though but I'm sure it will be fine.

Cate, we all need quiet times. Glad you're ok but don't worry about popping in. Just when you're ready.

I planned to get some housework done after work but only washed the dishes. Think I sat down to early and couldn't be bothered to get back up. :deckchair: I have been checking out the flight menus. 3 course meals with free drinks and snacks inbetween meals. Not sure exactly what I'll get but it all looks delicious. There are about 100 films to choose from so by the time I choose one, we'll be landing. :bouncing-ball:

Cate - thanks for letting us know ((())) to you from me xxx

Christine - aha!! you sussed me!!t118028.gif

The flight sounds as though it will be entertaining if nothing else!! Where is your seat? Window? Aisle?

    Hello mig!! :)

Morning Barbara I hope you enjoyed some sun yesterday. we had a little, but also a little overcast at times :( Lucy went up to her friend's who has just moved into our village. I had to rescue her on her way home though ;)

Thank you Kath :) I also can't wait for Lucy to practise on me!! Mind you she always has!! Obviously she could do yours for you already ;)

It's good that your health is continually monitored at least :)

Hi Joan!! What great news!! 14th September!!!!!!!!! Yippee :)

Hi Elizabeth :) Yes I am pleased Lucy is back on track bless her though I am having a little trouble with one member of staff who suggested to Lucy that she ought to have left it another year. I have the support of the 'learning mentor' though and a meeting there on Monday. I, like you with yours, will be her advocate :x

Tia and Charley are great thanks. Do you remember the car-jacking of Charley's car? Comes to court next week

I hope the change in meds will help you - you've been so rough for far too long ((()))

Good news about Lucy loving school!!! Good girl!!

    and Happy Birthday to Dan

Glad you're having some sun Barbara. I think it's shining here but can't see it for the clouds. :sun: It is like a little family in here, isn't it? Everyone knows what the others are going through and we're all here for each other. You're right, I have no idea what to pack. Not sure what the weather will be like yet but should be spring-like. Just thought, it will be the end of October when I get back so must pack warm clothes for my trip from Manchester airport to home. On the way there, I stop in Dubai airport for 1 and a half hours. Just enough to get from one plane to the next. On the way home, I stop in Singapore for 4 and a half hours and Dubai for 1 and a half hours.

Toni, I have a window seat booked on the first flight there and the last two flights on the way back. On the other two flights, it's a free for all for seats. I don't know if I should stand in the queue early to make sure I get a window seat or wait and take what's left. I do like to look out of the window at everything from take-off to the clouds. Will Charley have to go to court next week? I'm guessing she will. Hope it goes well.

I haven't decided what to do today. Others are visiting dad so I'll leave that as he seems back to himself now, although still needs some more treatment. I found some lovely dresses, t-shirts and shorts in the B*yes sale and have sent pics to my daughter to see what she thinks. Was thinking of going to get some today but she hasn't got back to me yet. So I could do housework. Hmmmm, I'm sure I have more important things to be doing. :hammock:

Hope you all have a good weekend.

I prefer window seats or an aisle seat just don't like being in the middle if its 3 seats Christine!!!

Good you have a few window seats already :)

Those stops will mean you get extra stamps in your passport then? :D

I think you ought to buy a few bargains for yourself and Yes definitely some warm clothes for coming home. We used to take the kids away to warmer climes in October 1/2 term or February one and it was so COLD!!!

Yes, I have a few window seats so I shouldn't be greedy wanting them all the way. Didn't know I'd get stamps in my passport. Think I've only ever had one. Must have been when I went to Jamaica. I'm going in to the travel agents before I go to get them to 'walk' me through the journey. I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do as I'm changing flights. All I know is my baggage will be dealt with by them. I don't know if I'm supposed to go through customs and security each time.

My daughter saw the photos I took of the kids' clothes. She only wants 2 of the dresses and a pair of shorts. I went in to town for them thinking they'd have more to choose from in a bigger branch but they didn't have any. I'll have to call in to our local one tomorrow before work. Bought myself some fleece leggings from the market though and found some plastic monster hands for the kids to dig in the sand. I'm going to my son's at lunchtime but meeting at the school as my GS is playing a friendly footie match there.

Toni sorry you had to rescue Lucy hope she is ok, and that Charley doesn't have to go to court..none of it was her fault...
Christine what a good idea getting the travel agents to take you through the journey, at least you will know what to expect..yes wise to take warm clothes for some of the journey..we queued when it was a free for all..and I was glad I did..mind you I had the wheelchair to sit in...why is it that they dont always stamp the passports..we wen to America 8 years ago and no stamp I was fuming  ..and Spain didn't..I think you must be very independent to go on your own..wish I was...
Hope Dan is having a brilliant Birthday :bouncing-ball:
Is there any cake left I could just eat a piece...I never have room for a sweet these days and it annoys me...
