    Hi everyone,
Just popped in for a quick afternoon cuppa and catch up. Hope everyone is doing OK. Cold day here today and forecast to get colder as the day goes on.
Today I've been to dentist, had a blood test and got a printout of my bone scan results which I've deciphered, I think. Also OH took me out to lunch at a local restaurant which was a nice unexpected surprise. Had a nice meal and everything looked clean and hygienic, was specially pleased to see that when I dropped my fork the waitress took it away and gave me a clean one without even thinking of wiping it and putting it back on the table.
Pretty PIC of Emily and her friend, nice to put a face to the clever menu designer.
Best go and shut the blinds and curtains now as its almost totally black outside. Time to cosy up in the warm

    Love to everyone

Joan, I hope my cold doesn't stay for 4 weeks. I feel ok just have a bit of a cough now. I was worried I'd start coughing while I was at the dentist today but I didn't.

Kath, Emily's meals sound delicious. I wouldn't know which one to start with.

Slomo, that's a good idea, a bit of everything. Hope you've got your energy back and are feeling better. Looks like you have been very busy today. Glad you enjoyed your meal.

Barbara, think I'd best stay away from Ald* then or I'll end up buying the bed. I've already overdone it.

Coco, lovely to see you. Hope everything is ok with you.

I've been to the dentist this morning too. Had to go to have a temporary crown removed and the permanent one put on. The dentist took the temporary off and tried the permanent one on. "I'm not having that,"she said. "It doesn't fit properly." So I had to have the temporary put back on and have to wait 2 weeks again for a new one. While she was busy with her hands in my mouth, the receptionist came in and said the alarm engineer had to test the alarm so could everyone keep perfectly still for 2 minutes. :? Of course she said no. Went to my son's for a tea party for my grandson's 12th birthday which is actually tomorrow but he's spending the day with his friends. Got my blood test results back. RA bloods normal again but cholesterol is too high. Oops!

    Evening all.

Hope everyone is doing OK. I'm OK been so much go on here the past few months it's ridiculous. A quick run down. Two lots of skin cancer found and removed.. Three kids into university .still full time carer/support for my son. Several falls. Latest one resulted in a broken leg. Still not healed. Mother had a stroke but apart from that I'm still here lol

Going to have a hot drink then curl up on the sofa for the night.

Well here I am again . . in pain and waiting for the painkillers to kick in so I can go to bed. Well I've done my good deed for the day today. Said we would pay for my daughter to see a rheumatologist for initial consultation. She has been suffering with awful pain and sometimes crawling upstairs (she is 31) and been back and forth to her GP who keeps fobbing her off with painkillers that make her throw up. They think it is fibromyalgia. Last week GP said he would refer her now says he won't and said more blood tests. Hope she gets somewhere.
COCO Hope things take a better turn for you . . . sounds like you are going through the mill a bit at the moment.
APPLEROSE hope the dentist was nice with you and that the cough soon clears up. A nice mug of hot chocolate with a drop of brandy in it should help.
SLOMO hope you enjoyed your meal. It's always better when the service is good too.
FROGMORTON I have had epilepsy since 1990 since a major stress time happened.

    Wishes to all

    What a miserable day.
Isn't the inter web a brilliant thing,I brought two tubs to put flour in and duly emptied plain into one and sr into another and made labels and laminated them but then I forgot which flour I put into what tub so I googled "how do you tell the difference between them"and up came lots of answers saving me throwing it all away.
Going to a farm shop tomorrow its about 20mins away and not on a bus route so now my daughter is driving we can go,so looking forward to it.We have also found a fruit ,veg and salad man (just starting out)so we are going to give him a try next week,Im fed up with the quality of produce on my local market and some supermarkets ,they don't seem to last.
Well I hope it cheers up for tomorrow, take care all. Mig

Oh my Coco, you have been having a rough time. Hope things are improving now.

Your poor daughter Bridlass. I hope it's not long before they find out for certain what is causing so much pain. I've got my fingers crossed you get a good night's sleep tonight.

Hope you are having a good weekend Toni.

Joan, hope you and Sue are having a good weekend too.

Mig, I remember once reading how to tell the difference between plain and self-raising flour. Can't remember how now. Glad you found it though. I find shop bought fruit and veg never lasts long but home grown does.

Barbara, thank you. It was my GS's birthday today. He wanted to spend it out playing with his friends while we all went shopping. Problem was it rained heavily and they all got wet. They seemed happy enough though. I'm sure your GD will appreciate a nice warm coat. And you've got your tree up. At least your GD got to do it. She might have missed out otherwise.

I've had a good day today. Went in to town to get my gluten free pies. The town had put up little Xmas huts for all the stall holders which was lovely as all the decorations are up too. There's a big bauble to walk through, a lit up present on the roof of the town hall, a big bear standing up against the town hall looking in through an upstairs window and a huge reindeer and baby. As well as the Xmas tree. The local bikers had their Santa parade today. About 100 bikes and they had been collecting for a local children's charity. It fun to watch so many Santas, snowmen and reindeer ride past on bikes. Then my son and his family picked me up and we went to another town to get Xmas things. Going again tomorrow with my GS to see what he wants for Xmas and to watch the reindeer parade as Santa arrives there.

Christine town sounds lovely and festive there! We went into Brum yesterday and it was all Christmassy too :D I bet the bikers parade was amazing!! Hope you can sort GS out.

Mig Good idea labelling your flour like that, but please tell me how can I tell the difference?? The WWW is a great invention when used for good like this I agree

    Joan
I hope you don't have as much rain as us or the doggies won't be too happy

Bridlass I hope your epilepsy is pretty well under control now. Not nice gaining it as an adult :( I also hope your daughter gets some answers soon.

    coco
It was lovely to see you posting, but not great to hear some of your news - at least good stuff has happened too. I hope we see you soon.

I'm here to have a rant, so earplugs at the ready. I will try not to use any inappropriate words.

My breadband server is Tis**li, and as you know they've had problems recently. As they are working on improving their security, it is affecting the email side of things. So my personal email account, which I use for almost everything, isn't working. One of the places that use that email is my bank, so I logged on there and tried to change my email address. I need to use my card reader to prove who I am - but I'm logged in :!: :!: :?: :?: :!: :!: The only other option is to ring them, can't be bothered, so if they want to send me emails I won't get them. (mumble, mutter, mumble) :|:( :x

    a020.gif

Sorry to hear of those who are suffering. I'm off to see my rheumy tomorrow to find out what (if anything) she has decided about MTX. I'm hoping she will not put me back on it, but will try something else instead. Will let you know. Right, a strong cuppa and an egg cob, then I'm off to have a sulk. a015.gif

Toni, hope you've had a lovely weekend.

Barbara, it is a worry when our youngsters go off on our own, especially with things that go on. Hope you enjoyed your Xmas dinner.

Kath, that is so annoying. We rely on our emails for so much now, especially things like banking.

Mig, it's worth paying a bit more at a farm shop. Things taste so much better. I find supermarket fruit and veg goes off very quickly.

Today, I caught the train to one of the towns to watch the reindeer parade. The school kids had prepared a carnival parade to guide Santa too. The weather was horrendous. It rained heavily and was very windy. They had to move the Xmas market stalls in to the museum and cancel the Xmas light switch on but the parade was supposed to go ahead. Shortly after I met up with my son and his family, it was announced that the parade was cancelled too. They couldn't let the reindeer or the kids walk round in that weather. Such a shame. My grandson wanted a subscription to his online games for his birthday and showed me some tops he wanted for Xmas. And I got my dad's present.

Mig, that will be lovely going to your son's for Xmas. Hope you got a good price for the shed repairs.

Joan, I doubt they will be able to do the reindeer and children's parade later as I think the reindeer might be too busy elsewhere now. Maybe they will still allow the children to do their parade. They suggested I watch their website for updates. Santa will be arriving with his reindeer in another town near here but I don't think it will be as good as the other one.

Barbara, I find it difficult to think of something for my dad. He doesn't have much space in the home for ornament type things. I've been trying to find him something he can do, like building a model ship, but he doesn't have the concentration now. People have been giving him jigsaws but I don't think he's touched them. He enjoys drawing on and off so I bought him paints to try out but they got put in the drawer and forgotten about. So I've bought him trousers for Xmas. At least he'll wear them. I'll get a jumper to go with them.

After having a sore throat all weekend, I lost my voice today and now have a cough. So much for this cold clearing off. I still feel fine though. I started making the kids Advent calendars but didn't get them finished on time so had to buy them one each from town. I've now got little sweets all wrapped in little bags or Xmas paper lying around. Not sure what to do about it now. Can't keep them till next year so might have to give them them next week. I'm sure they'll manage to catch up.

Oh Dear Christine! I hope you don't keep the cough for long :(
We used to LOVE seeing Santa and the reindeer when the kids were little....sigh!

I bet the kids were disappointed even when the weather was so bad.

Barbara you've started your CARDS??? Oh no! I better get cracking for definite  Tree up and cards written.... :?

I think most internet providers are the same....much of a muchness

Hi Joan thanks for asking...tomorrow is the first day we'll try the roads since they ought to have got rid of the roadworks!! Fingers crossed eh?

How lovely mig for you all to be together for Christmas :) I also hope like Barbara that they give you a good price.

Fingers crossed for you Kath as far as rheumy is concerned ((())) So sorry about your hassles I hope you have at least sorted the bank by now.

    Love to you all

It was expensive to have the shed fixed but its a big shed ,he cleaned the roof off before starting to recover it ,all the trims were replaced and it was heat sealed as well round the edges ,he then rehung the door as it was difficult to open and close as the hinges had slipped ,he did all this in the pouring rain.It cost us £125 that included the materials and his labour,he worked from 10 oclock till 2.30.So we are really pleased with the result. Just popped in....lovely to see Coco has paid a visit. sorry your Mum has had a stroke!

Very quiet here, just sleeping and scratching, one or the other.

BB is with BT, I'm happy with them although they are considered to be expensive but if it aint broke....

I always watch Supervet Applerose but know that they do charge fees
even though they claim not to in the end credits. Not that I'd expect him to work for nothing.
I haven't bought any advent calenders yet and tomorrow is the 1st so will have to sort that out tomorrow.

No Toady or Cate for ages now, I hope they are both okay.

    Hello everyone.

Joan, how did your foot scan go, I believe it was around about now it was due.

All email and bank problems duly sorted thank you. :)

I had a good appointment with my rheumy. Liver result is down from 88 to 44. well pleased with that. So the plan at the moment is: stay as I am, 10mg Leflunomide, 10mg Pred, NO MTX. If all goes well up to January, double the Leflunomide. If I have flare before January I can double Leflunomide before. If all goes well, this will stay the same until I see her again in February/March If I flare, I have to ring nurse helpline. If she decides to put me back on a lower dose of MTX I've asked for tablets to see how I get on. But she might consider an alternative. But I can't have anti TNF because I've had cancer! She mentioned Sulfa, which I've had before, I mentioned MMF and Azathioprine as possibilities for the Vasculitis. She mentioned Rituximab. So it was a bit like a game of chess really!

She agrees with my GP (there's a first) that my hip and spine pain is caused by osteoarthritis. Have an appointment with GP to discuss this on December 21. :?

Hope everyone else is doing as well as can be expected. xx
