    Evening to you all

It has been jolly bleak, cold, damp and windy here today. Nasty weather. I don’t know about you but this weather always makes my pain levels worse. Took a trip to see our lovely animals they are all happy and well fed and watered .
A picture for you all at Toni and Barbara’s request.
    Graycie being super girl

And here is one of all three girls at Christmas I Absolutely love this photo

Toni We are looking forward to the cruise very much as this will probably be our last one as they are getting more and more expensive each year. And yes It was said it won’t last really only by one person. But it has and what better way to celebrate it than with a cruise. I would not say it will be relaxing physically because we both like going on the trips that are available when the ship is in port. And it can get a bit hectic when you have a few days together with trips on. It makes me feel my age realising that youngest GD is 18. They used to live close to us and she was only 6 when they moved away to Kent. I will feel the age even more next year when eldest daughter reaches 50. I am glad that Lucy and Charley’s GD didn’t suffer too much and I send them lots of (((((()))))).

Joan it is lovely to have many grandchildren and great grandchildren I just wish they all lived closer sometimes and we could see them more. Especially the great grandchildren because every time you see them they have changed so much.
Lillie the eldest great granddaughter has got so grown up since the other girls have been born.

I think all of us are missing Aidans posts and his outings and his news of dad and Bill and Tosca. He was such a lovely person. And his family became ours. It’s so hard to get the cafe feeling the same. I hope Bill manages to sell dads bungalow without any problems. And I send (((()))) to him. I hope he can feel the love we have for him.

Lots of love and sparkles to you all all. t4591 t4591 t115006 t115006 t115006

    Morning everyone :)

Carol lovely to see you I'm glad you've been to the sanctuary I expect you took fruit supplies with you.

Graycie as 'Super-girl'! I love it Just as sweet as I thought it would be :) As for the photo of all 3 well that is definitely one for the album - really gorgeous t4591

Well 50 years is enough I should think to have proven any doubters wrong! I suppose cruises can be harder work than you think, but you can't miss the chance to experience life can you? Your eldest daughter will be 50  well I shouldn't worry too much you don't look old enough for that milestone  18 year old GD is fine too all yours are doing you proud :D

I hope Bill can feel all our love winging over to him too :? The café won't be the same, but we owe it to Aidan to keep going and in time it will evolve into something slightly different, but still our little haven.

Barbara I am so glad your liver is fine :D:D PHEW!! didn't need that worry did you?

Paul picked Lucy up for me thank goodness with the epilepsy and us having no buses after 7pm this will always be necessary I suppose.

Yes I was making plans for markets and there was Aidan and Bill's village. Remember I popped there last summer with Kari and Paul and we met the people they sold their place to? I took him loads of photos it was a lovely day I'm sure he showed them all to Bill too. I wonder whether Bill's Dad ever went over….?

Lucky Niamh having the day with her Grandies!! Any news on your bro?

A quick wave to Joan I hope all is well and you didn't get that dreadful wind from yesterday?

A fry-up for Kath and everyone veggie bacon and sausages available.....

Ah I see Barbara left us a cuppa each....

    Daily Poem

How To Get On In Society
    by John Betjeman

Phone for the fish knives, Norman
    As cook is a little unnerved;
You kiddies have crumpled the serviettes
And I must have things daintily served.

Are the requisites all in the toilet?
The frills round the cutlets can wait
Till the girl has replenished the cruets
And switched on the logs in the grate.

It's ever so close in the lounge dear,
But the vestibule's comfy for tea
And Howard is riding on horseback
So do come and take some with me

Now here is a fork for your pastries
    And do use the couch for your feet;
I know that I wanted to ask you-
    Is trifle sufficient for sweet?

Milk and then just as it comes dear?
    I'm afraid the preserve's full of stones;
Beg pardon, I'm soiling the doileys
    With afternoon tea-cakes and scones.

    *******************************

Joan, oh I hope not, I hate snow. We are OK thank you, waiting for Holly to bring our bit of shopping. I rang dad on Sunday just as Anita arrived to cook their dinner. So I know he will be OK.

Toni, thank you for the fry up breakfast, just the think on such a cold, wet and dreary day.

Carol, Graycie makes a cute super girl. I'm not surprised you love the Christmas photo, they are such beauties your GGD. :D My eldest daughter Marie Claire will be 50 next year too, while Helen will be 49 six weeks earlier.

Babs, When we woke up this morning all next doors recycling had blown into our garden as their bin lid wasn't closed properly. Chris put it all in our black bin.

    Vegan Coffee Pudding Pots

These Vegan Coffee Pudding Pots make a great effortless dessert. They're quick and easy to make, rich and indulgent and require just 4 ingredients!

    Ingredients
500 ml (2 cups) unsweetened cashew milk (or sub any other milk - oat milk is a great nut-free substitute)
2 tablespoons chicory powder (or sub equal amount instant coffee)
5 tablespoons maple syrup to taste (or sub any other sweetener)
    5 heaped teaspoons cornflour (cornstarch)

Add all ingredients to a pan and mix very well (before heating)
Cook on a low heat for around 10 minutes, stirring constantly, until a thick custard has formed
Taste and adjust flavours accordingly (more chicory for coffee flavour, more maple syrup for sweetness etc)
Transfer to little pots or glasses and leave to cool before chilling in the fridge for a few hours before serving
Keeps covered in the fridge for up to a few days

    Morning all

Well what an eventful evening we had last night we were sitting our living room just before 8pm. And there was a loud noise from outside in the street, that’s a Surprise in itself because our living room has secondary glazing and that cuts out the noise from outside we look out the window and this is what we see.

    https://www.dropbox.com/s/qekdlx7seakfriy/IMG_0739.JPG?dl=0

Well to say we were shocked is an understatement as this was a very large thick trunk tree. We were just glad it fell in the direction it did of it would have hit our block of flats as it was the big tree that always shaded our living room from the sun in summertime and kept it cool. This is how it looks this morning after calling the police and they called a tree surgeon to make it safe. You can see our flat in the background on the ground floor to the left of the path.

Hopefully they will clear it all later as it is blocking half the road at the moment which I suppose is better than the whole road as it was when it happened.

I will post again later as I have got to go out soon and am not washed or dressed yet but I just had to post these pictures to show you.

Thanks Joan I always have a good laugh with my friend she's lovely :) I think we'll probably always think of Aidan, but hopefully less sadly in time :( ((()))

Carol   Oh my God. Aidan pushed that away from your flat for you to keep you safe. You have all had a vey narrow escape there :?

Nice to see your flat even if it was because of that tree.

It might be a bit warm in your place now in summer....can you get some of those blinds that keep the heat out?

    Some cake anyone?

    Daily Poem
The last one was by Sir John Betjeman and not one of mine. Today I found some I wrote about cancer. So I thought I'd share a couple as some of us have experienced it first hand. So these are for Toni, mig and Babs. XXXXXX

    Where Did I Go?

    Once I was human
    a long time ago,
    Someone with strength
    and get up and go
    That person has vanished
    I don't know where to,
    I just cannot find her
    Please, where did I go?

    My life is such sadness
    to think of my past
    the girl I once was
    but that didn't last.
    I look in the mirror,
    and I no longer know
    Just who I am,
    Oh where did I go?

    One day I'll come back,
    but be different somehow,
    be stronger, be bolder
    be calm and I vow
    I won't make a mess
of my new life, oh no,
    but just tell me please,
    where did I go?

I won't give in to pity
    or pass on the blame
    for all my mistakes
that was me, just the same.
    I'll keep going forward
    move on, so you know
as long as I find out
    just where I did go.

    *******************

    Being Bald

The party was a good one,
    with lots of party food,
    sandwiches, sausage rolls,
    and chocolate bars we chewed.

    We had a competition
    who had the baldest head,
    there were several men there
with bald spots which had spread.

I sat there with my hat on,
    never said a word,
then went and sat among them,
    it really was absurd.

They looked at me and smirked
    at my little chemo cap,
    "show us all right now
    what you're hiding under that!"

    So I smiled most benignly
and whipped my cap off quick,
and every one of them agreed
    I was the baldest chick.

So if you are a bald bird
    who is full of flair,
don't be scared to show the world
    you don't have any hair.

    :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:lol::lol:

Toni, You are giving us super delicious food, thank you.

Joan, Chris was out so early, it was still dark. ins were emptied today but there's still rubbish blowing about.

Carol, I know someone whose husband collects logs from fallen trees and makes fairy houses and other garden ornaments from them. What a shock for you though.

Babs, I'm so glad to hear your brother's leg is OK.

    *********************************************

Vegan Savoury pancakes with garlicky mushrooms

    Ingredients:
    100g (3½oz) plain flour
    200ml (7fl oz/generous ¾ cup) unsweetened soya milk, chilled
Generous pinch of fine sea salt 6 tbsp sunflower oil
    For the garlicky mushrooms
    Ingredients:
    1 tbsp sunflower oil
200g (7oz) button mushrooms, some sliced, some whole
3 cloves of garlic, peeled and finely sliced
    6 tbsp soya single cream
Small handful of flat-leaf parsley, finely chopped
Generous pinch of sea salt and black pepper
    Method :
Start by making the pancakes. Whisk together the flour, soya milk, and sea salt in a bowl until smooth.
Heat 1 tbsp oil in a frying pan over a medium heat. Test if the oil is hot by adding a drop of pancake batter to the pan: if it sizzles and becomes golden within 30 seconds, it is at optimum temperature. Add 4 tablespoons of the batter to make one pancake and swirl the batter around the pan to coat the base evenly.
When the pancake is golden after 2–3 minutes, carefully flip it over to cook the other side. Drain on kitchen paper then keep warm in the oven while you continue to cook the other pancakes, using 1 tbsp of the oil each time.
For the garlicky mushrooms, heat the oil in a separate frying pan over a medium–high heat and cook the mushrooms for 5 minutes, stirring frequently.
Add the garlic and cook for a further minute. Remove from the heat and stir in the soya cream and parsley. Season with sea salt and black pepper.
To assemble, place the pancakes on serving plates and generously load on the garlicky mushrooms. Fold the pancakes over and serve while hot.

    Evening all

Barbara I am sure the cloak is all ready to whisk us all up and take along to OH’s results. Hope they are good results. Yes the tree escapade was a bit of a shock and as you say but for the grace of god. Someone was sure watching over us on Tuesday that’s for sure.

Kath the poems are very good yes it was a bit of a shock when the tree came down it wasn’t even that windy , and well it’s not every day that you’re look out your window and see a great big tree lying across the road :o:o. All joking aside we were both so thankful that it fell the way it did and towards our flat, and that no cars or people were going down the road at the time. I Like the sound of the fairy houses.

Joan Yes we were very lucky hope you Sue and the doggies are well and that it is not too cold for you.

Toni I reckon you could be right Cos someone certainly was watching over us keeping us save on Tuesday night. It was also unbelievable that at that time on night that there was actually no one walking down the road or and cars travelling down it at the time. Most of it is gone not except the very bottom part that is still part way across the pavement, and propped up buy bits of the low wall that it took down as it fell.

Glad you all liked the girls Christmas picture my GD always like to dress them alike when it is possible. And I will say the picture of Graycie did make me laugh when I saw it. It’s the look on her face that dose it.

Thought you would like to see a couple of pics of GD kittens at 2weeks old.

    Good morning everyone :)

Oh Carol those kittens are ADORABLE t4591 The sweetest little things! I bet you want one so much....must keep working on Mr T - on that subject keep working on him at lunch if he's in the right mood

I used to dress my girls up the same for special photos it rally does make a difference doesn't it?

Well someone was watching over you and who better than our Matron? I was selfishly only thinking of you, but of course it could have been a car or an innocent passerby hit

Fingers crossed your friend is nice for your cuppa. I think she might be ok just she wants to be centre of attention at knit and natter which she can't be

Barbara….the cloak is rustling…. This afternoon it is. I hope you'll all recognise me I'm off to the hairdresser this morning :)

Well not so long ago your bro could hardly eat any 'real' food so I am pleased you got out and he had a bite to eat with you ((()))

Your poor neighbour! That's awful :( I think it might happen to my own ex-SIL too you know her bloke did the same earlier this year. Honestly it shouldn't be possible for these men to be allowed to have children and then go off and do this to them :x

Niamh t4591 see she's sweet wanting to house all the homeless people - at yours!! I always think some hot food and a drink is what people need out there :( As for your hat charity shop is not only fine but GOOD!! Recycling is what we want. Aidan was not averse to a charity shop bargain!

    Right some breakfast: photo-1535567465397-7523840f2ae9?ixlib=rb-1.2.1&ixid=eyJhcHBfaWQiOjEyMDd9&w=1000&q=80

Something for each of us I think.

A quick wave to Joan! Hope all is well

    Love to everyone else

    Daily Poem

    Me
    by Kathleen

    I'm not old,
    I'm not young,
    can't you see?
    I'm not smart,
    I'm not dumb,
    I'm just me.
    Not just somebody's daughter,
    or mother, or wife,
    so leave me alone
to get on with my life.
    I don't need a label
    to know who I am;
    and I'll do anything
to break loose if I can.
    To fulfil all my dreams;
be what I want to be,
    not somebody else -
I just want to be me -
    ok!

mig, I answered your pocket duties plea, and I know Aidan would have been the first to reply if he could. I just wanted to ask if your RA symptoms disappeared while you were undergoing treatment? I don't know what drugs you were given or how they affected you. Just glad they worked and you're back with us. t4591

Sue, I always used to worry about roof tiles blowing down as I walked beneath them.

Toni, and good morning to you too. Super choice for breakfast, can I see some crispy bacon among all those goodies? Yummy yummy.

Carol, what delightful kittens. I do hope you get one. I'm sending positive thoughts in Mr T's direction. Do you have any names prepared ready? Or will you let Mr T pick one out.

Babs, How dreadful for your neighbour, and for you too as you will lose a friend and have the worry of who will move in the house after she has gone,

(((HUGS))) for Bill, Mandy and Tosca, our Very special friends.

    Vegan Tomato Pasta

    Ingredients
    Smoky Sauce
    2 Tbs Dijon Mustard
    1 Tbs Smoked Paprika
    Juice from 1 Lemon
2 Tbs Extra Virgin Olive Oil
    2 Cloves Garlic minced
    1/2 Tsp Sriracha
    Pasta and Vegetables
    12 oz Whole Wheat Fettuccine
    1 Tbs Neutral Oil
2 Large Handfuls Fresh Green Beans trimmed
1 Small Head Broccoli cut into florets
    1 Lb Cherry Tomatoes
    Tamari
    Fresh Ground Black Pepper
    4 Cloves Garlic minced
    2 Tbs Chopped Parsley
    Fresh Basil Leaves torn

    Instructions
    Smoky Sauce
Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl and whisk until smooth.

    Pasta and Vegetables
Warm 1/2 tbs of the oil in a large cast iron or heavy-bottomed saucepan over medium heat. Add the green beans and broccoli and sauté until they are bright green and blistered in places, 7-8 minutes. Add a splash of tamari to the pan, sprinkle with black pepper to taste, and move the vegetables to one side of the pan.

Increase the heat to medium high. Add the remaining half tbs of coconut oil and the tomatoes. Let the tomatoes cook undisturbed for about 1 minute, then toss them and cook, tossing periodically, for about 4 minutes, until the tomato skins are wrinkled and blistered in places. Add a splash of tamari and the garlic, mix in the green beans and broccoli, and remove the pan from the heat.

In the meantime, cook the pasta according to the instructions on the package. Drain well and add the cooked pasta to the pan with the vegetables, then pour in the sauce and toss to combine. Serve immediately, garnished with parsley and fresh basil leaves.

I was on a drug regime called RCHOP with a trial drug added or a placebo, one of the drugs in the regime was rituximab (sp) which is used for RA I was unbelievably free of RA symptoms and Dr Pandi said when needed she could put me on that but when having the chemo I was also on massive doses of prednisone so I will wait to see what she comes up with,do you still see her ? I know you used to,she’s my hero if it hadn’t been for her I don’t know what would have happened to me.
Love your poems wish I could write. Mig
