Yes I still see her but she doesn't like me very much because I have to use Patient Transport (ambulance and wheelchair) which usually gets me late to appointment. Plus she has made several mistakes on my review letter and doesn't believe me when I point them out. One is about a corneal graft op I had when my youngest was about 4/5 (he was born in 1983) she insists I had it in the 1970s. So I dread my appointments with her now.

I have heard of RCHOP, it involves lots of steroids. I hope you've had a DEXA scan. High doses of Pred and Methylpred for Vasculitis caused my Osteoporosis which I now have, with 4 spinal fractures. Which is why I can't even stand, let alone walk. :?
I have the occasional double dose of Rituximan (Truxima) for Vasculitis. How did you get on with it?

My oncologist said it would keep the RA at bay which it seemed to do the high doses of pred kept me awake while I was taking it but combined with the rest of the drugs has worked for the lymphoma.I had a delay a few years ago so should be due another one soon.

    Daily Poem

    The Lady From Tahiti **
by Kathleen ** The lady of Tahiti was my alter ego while in hospital for Pseudomonas Colonisation of my lungs.

    The lady from Tahiti
    in her brightly patterned dress
    sashays down the ward
    trying not to cause distress
    as her single bosom flounces,
    her enormous stomach bounces
and her buttocks gently sway from side to side.

    The lady from Tahiti
    wears seashells in her ears
    a creation by Paul Gaugin,,
she tries to hide the fears
    and all the pointless tears
    gathered up across the years
as the ageless, timeless paint begins to crack and fade.

Some time later, watching a TV program about Tahiti, I wrote this. :D

    The Lady of Tahiti
    by Kathleen

She swayed across my TV screen
her voice was soft and lilting.
    Her eyes were dark,
    her smile was wide,
    her hands were upwards tilting.

I held my breath and closed my eyes,
    while dreaming of Tahiti.
    Of flowing hair
    and flowered dress
    and voices singing sweetly.

    Along the sand
    I watched her dance
    among the Palms around me
    amid the rippling waves
her shadows washing out to sea....

    ....So she came home,
    that dark eyed beauty
    my lifelong friend,
    the lady of Tahiti.

    t69044 t69044 t69044

Joan, exactly right my love. Consultants have no (or very little) compassion. My dad's fine thank you. t4591

Toni, Bill has a new car. :D
He's a sweet little black car and is called BUBBLES!!
    :D Aidan would be chuffed.

Babs, nothing wrong with him - pull the other one Mr B.

mig, I thought you night have meant that. :D

    Daily Poem

    August Afternoon
    by Kathleen

Out in the garden I sit and laze
Feeling my skin begin to glow,
    sweltering in the summer haze
Listening to the Ashes on the radio.

The butterflies flitting here and there,
wondering which way next to go.
The bees buzz around the Roses, fair,
then down to the Lavender bush below.

    An aeroplane flies overhead
visiting lands that I don't know.
But I'll stay here by my garden shed,
listening to the Ashes on the radio.

Joan, it's the vertebrae in my spine, 4 have broken just by sitting up in bed (well tried to anyway). My mum had it and she broke her wrist. Gran also had it and I think it was in her spine too as she had a Kyphosis (hump back) She was also very small as am I now. I'm sorry that you have it in your hips. Do you take Calcium and Vit 3 with the Alendronic Acid? My hip pain is caused by Osteoarthritis. t115006 t115006 t115006 t115006

Toni, It's bright and sunny here, but VERY cold. t110007 hank you for the pancakes and fruit. :D I agree that Niamh is so funny, the things she says has me in stitches.

Love and ((((hugs)))) for Bill, mig, Barbara, Carol and all our hard working Mods.

Vegan Berry Pie with Sugar Cookie Crust

    Ingredients
    For the Sugar Cookie Crust:
    1 cup almond flour*
1½ cup whole wheat pastry flour
    1 teaspoon baking powder
    ½ cup coconut sugar
    1 tablespoon ground flax seeds
    1 tablespoon cornstarch
    5 tablespoons coconut oil
    5 tablespoons water
    3 tablespoons vodka**
    For the Blueberry Pie Filling:
    5 cups mixed berries frozen***
    1/3 cup coconut sugar
    2 tablespoons whole wheat flour
    ½ cup chia seeds
    Pinch of salt

    Instructions
In a food processor, combine the almond flour, whole wheat pastry flour, baking powder, coconut sugar, ground flax seeds, cornstarch and coconut oil. Pulse for several seconds to combine. Add water and vodka and pulse again until a ball forms.
Roll into two balls, cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
Heat your oven to 350F. Spray a pie pan with vegetable spray.
Remove one of the dough balls from the fridge and place it between two sheets of plastic wrap. Roll the dough into a large circle, a little larger than your pie pan. Gently transfer to your pie pan.
    Bake for about 10 minutes.
In the meantime, roll out the second ball of cookie dough until about 1/4 inch thickness. Use a cookie cutter to cut pieces for the top of the pie. Set these pieces aside.
Place the blueberries, coconut sugar, and flour in a saucepan. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to simmer for several minutes, until a thick sauce forms. Remove from heat and add the chia seeds and pinch of salt.
Pour the blueberry filling into the pre-baked pie crust. Top with cookie cutouts and bake for 20 – 25 minutes, until the top is golden brown.

Forum closed tomorrow :( Oh dear we will all miss each other, but I suppose updates must happen. Might not take them all day fingers crossed.

Barbara it's been white here all day. My friends came down from Stoke and it was sunny up there! Typical.

Yes Aidan would have been ninny walking :) Paul hates driving in fog I can cope with fog just not with ice and snow.

I know the funeral is such a long time off, but they can goa nd see their grandad this week at least bless them all. Having the wake over the 18th hole - he was a great golfer.

Kath what a lovely poem reminds me of my childhood when I did used to sunbathe and my first love was into cricket so I always listened to/watched it.

Your poor back I am so sorry ((())) I hope the vitamins and infusion helps a little you certainly don't deserve it at all. Seems it definitely runs in the family :(

Niamh brightens my day too bless her :)

What food have you prepared for us?? Vegan Berry Pie that's lovely! I have some vegan alpro custard to go with it t4591

Joan so your osteoporosis is in your hip and affects your groin too is imagine it does :(

Go you I would ask for a barium meal it's better than nothing and the endoscopy was so awful for you ((()))

Right shall we have a little something to eat?

Morning everyone! The fog has gone, but it's still icy here brrr!!!

Did Aidan have the cake Barbara? Not surprised if he did  He loved his cake a lot for a diabetic  You had to admire him t4591

Yes I believe the 18h hole is the last hole you play and it's traditional to have a bar there so rather appropriate.

I'm ok driving I fog just not snow and that invisible ice too scary.

I expect it will be bloods for your bro his week? Is it chemo then if all is well?

    Daily Poem

    The Ring.
    By Kath

A circle of gold, my ring.
Adorning my bent and twisted finger,
    Giving it beauty undeserved.
    Within a curved delicate edge,
    Reflecting the light, minute white
Clusters surround a pink fragile centre.
    Jagged stones deceive the eye
With a soft flower like image.
Recalling your love which ended in deceit.

Joan, I have RA, OA and Osteoporosis. Yes it is customary for them to put you on a drugs holiday after taking them for a certain length of time. I don't know how long for though. From what I understand, you may be offered a different drug in the future. Whatever you do, if they offer Prolia (denosumab) DON'T accept it. This is taken from a document about the drug.
    Prolia Lawsuit
    Updated: January 2020 31 Comments
"Increasing evidence suggests that side effects of the osteoporosis drug Prolia may increase the risk of hip fractures, femur fractures and other bone fractures, which typically occur following minimal or low trauma events."
    It's a dangerous drug.

Toni, boiled egg and soldiers ME, ME, ME.

Barbara, yes it was awful (still is) morphine isn't helping much. :?
It is the DEXA scan. It shows how fragile your bones are. Eat plenty of oily fis, eggs, spinach and prunes. Walk, or jog as high impact exercise helps strengthen your bones. Sklipping is good too. Sadly I can't do any of those.

    vegan pasta carbonara
    ★★★★★
    4.8 from 4 reviews
    author: Simple Vegan Blog
    prep time: 10 minutes
    cook time: 15 minutes
    total time: 25 minutes
    yield: 6-8 1x
    category: Main Dish
    cuisine: Italian
You can enjoy a delicious and creamy vegan pasta carbonara in just 25 minutes. This is a gluten-free version, which is also healthier and lower in fat.

    Vegan Pasta Carbonara.

    ingredients
18 ounces pasta of your choice (500 g), we used brown rice spaghetti
    10 ounces firm tofu (275 g)
1/2 cup plant milk of your choice (125 ml), we used soy milk
1/2 cup vegan parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast (8 tbsp)
1/4 cup nutritional yeast (4 tbsp)
    2 tbsp lemon juice
1 tbsp tahini (or extra virgin olive oil)
    1 tsp turmeric powder
    1/2 tsp sea salt
    1/8 ground black pepper
Vegan bacon to taste, we usually add 3 slices for each serving
    Fresh parsley to taste

    instructions
Cook the pasta according to package directions.
Place the rest of the ingredients (except the bacon and the parsley) in a blender and blend until smooth.
When the pasta is ready, strain it and place it in a frying pan or in the same pot you’ve cooked the pasta, add the sauce and the bacon (chopped) and cook over medium-high heat for about 2 to 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
Serve with some fresh parsley on top, more pepper and more bacon (optional).
Store the pasta carbonara in the fridge in a sealed container for up to 4 days.
    notes
Use any type of pasta you want.
Adding 1 tsp of turmeric powder you’ll get a beautiful color, but if you’re not a big fan of this ingredient, omit it or add just 1/2 tsp.
If you don’t eat soy, you could try to use overnight soaked cashews instead of the tofu and any other plant milk instead of the soy milk.

Good Morning everyone. Still frosty outside - and a bit smelly here too as they've been muck spreading  still that's a GOOD thing for the soil isn't it?

On the subject of what's good for you shall we have some breakfast?

    pexels-photo-949069.jpeg?auto=compress&cs=tinysrgb&dpr=1&w=500 Barbara's type today.

Young Sleek just crashed in the cat-flap. She's been over to see Tosca (checked on Bill) and up to Pendle. On Thursday Kari is coming over here with her DIL and the cats will be taking their chance to meet up at Mrs Darcey's. Rosie is joining them too she goes outside in her garden now and doesn't want to come back in! As yet she has stayed inside her own garden though bless her.

Don't anyone tell Sleek but she has her booster vaccinations on 31st :?

Today I am going to do some ironing and clean out another kitchen cupboard...maybe go out for a walk but that will be IT!!

A quick wave to Joan g025.gif

    Love to everyone

    Daily Poem

    Doe Of The Morning
by Kath, sorry if I've posted it before.

    Doe of the morning
    how faithful you are,
    keeping your secrets
    when near, or afar.
Your eyes - sweet as almonds
    and white silken throat,
    you dance like a dove
    beneath far distant Oaks.
    Drink deep from the Lilies
    all covered in dew,
    then hide with your secrets
    the white winter through.

Joan, I felt I had to inform you about Prolia, it can caused rebound fractures and we don't want you to suffer needlessly. I know what you mean about walking. I'd love to as not only is it good exercise for our general health, but it can strengthen bones. I've also read that stamping your feet while sitting down is good. You might find this website useful. https://theros.org.uk/forms/sign-up/exercise-videos-email/

Toni, some wonderful cakes thank you, and as for the Muesli and fruit, MMMMM slurp. Oh nanas, Matron didn't like them but I do.
Sleek is due BOOSTERS  :? Shhh, shan't say a word. :|

Barb should be popping in soon, g050.gif Hope she has good news about her brother.

Hi to Carol too, just one word, KITTEN ?
