I've just been reading through and completely mis-read 'pansies'. Completely and utterly. Would have made for a very strange-looking garden.
Why pea sticks? I get the bamboo bit, but are they used to support peas? (as in sweet or the veg or both?) I am down to one snowdrop and all the daffodil leaves have fallen over. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

Mell and me got our chilli seeds planted(that's my ner ner ner ner ner face

Ive got a free allotment favorite packet of seeds so leeks, Beetroot cabbage, carrot and parsnips will grow in me garden. I also got a packet of half hardy annuals RUDBECKIA look forward to trying them.
and also some small propergaters with radish turnip starting.
I am wondering about space.
I have spotted a Ladder allotment if not seen one its a wooden wide ladder which has steps which you put plants in compost. Looks a good space saving device to prop up against wall etc.
I just wish for good weather its been nippy up these parts 5 miles from rehab. Just wondered if it was cold up there in your parts.
snows been mentioned hope not.Joanne0 -
Not far form you either then Joanne aqm in the midlands too.
That laddr sounds interesting....maybe it will also help those with getting up and down issues??

Hello Del, Toni, Joanne, Val, Tinks, and DD
Is it spring yet? I guess, being 1st March it is officially spring but it certainly doesn't feel like it here today!
Good tip Delboy! And I like the sound of your "ladder" Joanne.
Well my wonderful OH dug over the bottom of the new raised bed at the weekend to loosen the "soil" (Clay for making pots anyone?!!) ready for delivery of the topsoil.
And today I have braved the cold to plant a few lettuce seeds in the greenhouse. Eventually gave up on the ones I planted in Jan and Feb. Was just too soon to plant them but I was so desperate to get gardening again.

I has been a lovely sunny afternoon here, but cold and I have heard someone cutting their grass! I am hoping that at the weekend I can get out into the garden to start some tidying up ---If it stays dry.. I am begining to feel guilty reading what you have all been doing.
Also need to start spring cleaning!

Hi there,
Yes i love my garden and am itching to get out there. For now i am unable to do much out doors but i have a positive little plantation of seedlings sprouting in propergators on my window sills. Watching things grow from seed is so rewarding. I am going to do a few vegetables in planter bags and lots of flowers. I figured to make gardening easier and enjoyable i would plant cottage garden plants, many of which i hope will re seed themselves in due course.
Happy gardening!!
Best Wishes, l :P ittle green fingered Hils. :P0 -
I mowed the lawn and cut the edges yesterday as it was such a lovely afternoon. I put the potatoes into trays to chit. A productive afternoon.
Although it is not sunny today I aim to drastically prune our laurel as I have been told by my bruv that this is the time to do this. It is too tall and wide. Recycling wheelie bin gets emptied tomorrow so a good idea to fill it today

I filled the emptied recycling wheelie bin again with the rest of the laurel branches. Hopefully now it will flourish well.
Lovely sunny afternoon, a joy to be outside.

Hi everyone my tree is finally down after being put off for 3 wks. they were waiting for a part for the shredder. They have to come back as on way over they lost the tire on their trailer so could not take the brush away so have to return next wk. The garden is white over with saw dust and i have the brush branches of the tree still. It looks a mess but the light in garden is better. I am leaving the tree bottom as a table.
My lettuce etc are sprouting indoors on my window sill and i have more seeds to put in. My hubby said he will copy the ladder idea from magazine for me. He got lots of wood from a sale to make stuff for the garden and allotment. Tnanks for the replys happy gardening right im off line now im going to bed good night x JoanneJoanne0 -

Hello gardening peeps!
Been a lovely sunny day here today and hubby and I have been pottering in the garden. (Or to be more accurate he has been doing the hard work - bless him - and I have been wafting around giving instructions and making tea!)
He very patiently drilled holes in our old dusbin so I could use it as a compost bin and tipped out lots of empty flower pots onto the borders.
He has also painted the outside of the raised bed to match the greenhouse. When we went to buy the paint we couldn't remember which colour it was. So G decided to use a key to open the tin to have a look. Unfortunately he then dropped the lid into said tin of paint, spilling it onto the garden centre floor, down the side of the tin and all over his hands  And there was I fishing through my coat pockets looking for tissues to wipe up the mess! Not one of his better ideas I have to say - but at least we ended up with the right colour.

tomato seeds in a pot
mint in a pot
two bonsai trees
Lettuce
Radish
The front of my house gets so much sun it gives me an early start for my seeds in their propagators.
The birds are sat in the branches of the old tree but i'm fed up with waiting cannot wait until the men come back to clear the rest of the tree away.
I have put the chipped bark around the garden it looks good and some in the chicken pen. I also have put in fresia and Iris bulbs and swept the saw dust away.
The sun in my bathroom took me by surprise and woke me up from the early morning stooper its made a big difference in the ups stairs rooms. wish id got rid of the tree years ago.Joanne0 -
Hello Tinks and Joanne!
Hope you have been having the same lovely weather as we have here for the past few days. I sat outside (yes really) with a cup of tea this morning and it was sooo lovely!
Joanne, sounds as if you have been very busy with your seed planting! And so pleased you are seeing the benefit of removing the tree.
Tinks - you are probably right - said garden centre ought to be avoided for a bit probably  although it's the nicest one around so maybe I'll just creep in with a bag over my head or something

Hello
Anyone planning to watch new series of Gardener's World which starts tonight? I'm looking forward to seeing Monty Don back and to seeing what his own garden is like. Bit disappointed it's only 30 mins long though.

Hellooo everyone .
. newbie to Gardeners corner ...
I haven't a garden that i can plant anything in as the landlord regularly sprays the gravel with weed-killer( and wont let me handle it) .. but last year turned my Bathroom into a mini garden by installing a garden shelf unit in the bathroom (Wilko's approx £7)
I had great success with Basil and Chilli's last year and some of the Basil lasted through the winter .
I have planted Basil , chives , 3 types of chilli, Oregano, and wll be trying Rocket this year too
Certainly makes the bathroom smell nice .. and ...mmmmmmmmm pesto

Hi everyone
Well after pontificating for a couple of hours I have finally gone in the garden!!!
have removed the broken fencing panels. and cut back a wayward rose bush and red hot pokers and bagged and swept up all the rubbish. That took an hour , having a rest and the next job is to cut back the grasses which were completely battered from all the winter winds and heavy snow. I have all of next week off so the plan is to at least get it back to reasonable -- all my daffs are in bud! will have to get rid of the weeds so I can see them.
My next door neighbours garden is looking beautiful he has a range of spring bulbs out in bloom and its an impressive sight, he has also cut his grass and there is not a single weed in his border --- oh well -- Perhaps now I am going to be working part time I can invest a bit more time to the garden -- weather and body permitting
