Hi Linda,
I'm rheumatoid too, and I had to have the neck x-ray - I thought it was to see how far they could tilt my head back in case they needed to do a GA, even though I had the spinal on the day. I also spent 5 hours in pre-op - were we at the same hospital?!!
At least you can eat sooner after the spinal, I had a ham butty and a cuppa when I got back to the ward!

Hi Jo,
Yep, sounds like the same hossy.
I was told by the anaesthetist that they might have difficulties getting the needle in my spine so she specifically sent me for the neck x-ray to see how much movement I have in case in needed a GA.
Spinal does have it's advantages and to my mind the eating and drinking quickly afterwards is the biggestLove, Legs x

Hi Julie,
Thanks I'm still coughing 'stuff' up but not as badly or as frequently ....longest cold I've ever had, 2 weeks today since it started
As for a date I have to ring when the cold has cleared and then they'll give me a slot.
Hope your appointment goes OK, expect a long one my pre-op took 5 1/2 hours  so you'll need a flask, sandwiches and a good bookLove, Legs x

Legs, I've just seen the stuff about your neck x-rays.
With my knee revision I just completely forgot to mention my neck (They always do tons of x-rays on it pre-op) and that my mouth doesn't open much. (No, you'd never guess.) Well, you can't remember every bit and every op can you?
Next day the lovely young (fit) anaesthetist came to see if I was OK. He'd taken ages to get me sorted and was worried he might have done some damage in there. I was tempted to say yes so's he'd come back.
How's the cough coming on?If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Cough's gradually, very gradually disappearing Sticky. I don't think I've ever had one as bad but that's probably due to being immuno-compromised
I know what you mean about the 'fit' young anaesthetist my ward doc was lovely too. He had blonde hair, clean shaven with twinkly eyes .....not sure they were twinkling in my direction ......but didn't stop me having a lovely fantasy
Looks like neck x-rays might just be a matter of course then and no I wouldn't have thought you'd have any probs with your mouth opening .......bet it's like mine and still big enough to get your foot inLove, Legs x

Both feet at once, Legs.
As for the fantasies - go for it. This disease takes quite enough away from us but, hey, the fantasies remain. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I'm reminded of a friend having a hysterectomy who took ages to go under on the operating table. She said her last agonised thought was 'He's standing at the wrong end!'If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Are you still ripping the filters of those Players No 6??? I hope your joints aren't suffering too much, if you're still off the MTX? Been having a few flying lessons, so I'm on top form when you get the go-ahead
Take care,
Love from Lynn xx
Twas a big dilemma of whether to take the Mtx this Tuesday being as though I'm still coughing and blowing my nose although less frequently but I bit the bullet or in the case swallowed the tablets. My joints are easier than last week though they could have been hurting due to the upset and being ill generally.
Players No 6 ...do they still sell them then Lynn????
I'll let you know when to put your message sack on MrsLove, Legs x

Hi Legs,
Thanks for the buckets .... don't think I can ever win but I sure ain't going to surrender... haven't got it in me but this neck and spine dummy spit is the worst they ever done... they must be teenager's now
Hope you hear soon and the spinal block... let me know where its done cus a friend of mine has trouble l4/l5 and be honest it would be good to know it can be got round... not that I am wishing you trouble with L4/5
Glad you lie the flowers design... did it just after the pregabs..... can you tell and be glad there wasn't a tree in it.....
Leaving a bucket of knee quiet, sleep draft and a good day draft as well as some ((((( ))))). Love she who must go get pending payback xx
Hey I am some impressed you call a 2 week cold a long one How long are they meant to last do you know? The mtx thing and not taking it..... my rumo never stops it and was miffed the cas doc did when they stuck me on the heavy penicillin so it really has no standardisation flower......0 -
Morning legs, I hope the cough continues to go and the rest continues to get better - I think you hit the nail on the head about being immuno-compromised, it doesn't help. I always stop my meth etc (following the advice of my hospital) and, touch wood, colds etc have cleared up within a week or ten days. Let's hope you are really on the mend and that things can go ahead sooner rather than later. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

D'you know Cris I think you should glue the neck and spine dummies in then they can suck on them and be pacified and stop bothering you.
The sleep draft worked as I didn't need to get out to go to the bathroom till 5 a.m. which is a record for me  The 'knee quiet' also worked as I've hobbled round Sainsbury's this morning and it's still not too bad
The dishy ward doctor said the cold was a bad one so it would take 2 - 3 weeks to clear, normally when I do get them normally last just over a week.
And I did ask the anaesthetist where she was going to insert the needle as you were shouting from my pocket at the time to remind me. After telling you to shush she said she would look at my back and put it in the best position for me but it would be in the lumbar region probably between vertebrae 4 and 5 and if she couldn't do it there she would move up a bit. Hope that helps.
(((((( )))))) Hugs.
Love, Legs x

Thanks Dreamsdaisy, this is the first morning I've got up without coughing so this cold seems as though it was 'in like a lion and out like a lamb'. I was off the Mtx because of the op but I'm not sure how long it takes to get out of your system.
If things continue as they are I think I may be able to ring the hospital early next week for another date .....just got to work up the courage to pick up that there phone  :roll:Love, Legs x
