Hi elna
I am so sorry to read about your loss. I was just popping in to say I hope your pre ops don't take up too much of your day tomorrow and that it doesn't tire you out too much.
I would like to say thankyou to mermaid for replying to your post too and I am sure it will have put your mind at ease. It has helped me reading about some one who has had this type of operation.
Thinking about you

Hi Elna, just wanted to wish you all the best with your op. Hope it really makes a difference,
SpeedyI have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.0 -
Hi Elna,
Just dropping you in a stay calm bucket and a hope that Liz's post has helped you to know its going to be ok?
Hang in there flower and a ((((( ))))) with a cuppa for the morning. Cris xx
Hi Liz,
Like Julie said thank you for your post. I hope so much that you will be ok and not have further surgery and thanks again. Cris x0 -
Hi Elna I just wanted to wish you all the best for your op. You are strong and resiliant and I'm sure will come through all with flying colours. Lots of folk will be sending good vibes to help you cope. Big hugs. Rita.0

Hello again Elna,
I'm sorry to read about your Uncle but very glad there were friends popping in several times a day to care for him and the hospital made his last days comfortable. So all the travelling is now over and I believe today is pre-op day. I'm sure you will update before the op date.
So my best wishes for today
Can Ian sew as well as iron because Dan has ripped a 2nd pair of band new trousers on their first ever wear. Luckily the school dont seem to object to joggers as been to a open morning today!
My best wishes

You are going to need some very big pockets to carry us all with you pet.
I will be also keeping you in my thoughts and sending healing vibes over.
Let's just hope you get a gorgeous surgeon to pat your hand and make it feel all better.

Dear SW, well Ian has not learned to cook or iron yet and I have had quite a few ops during our time together. He will muddle through as usual. We both will. Thank goodness for ready meals, for emergencies.
Dear Tony, I hope I am first on the list too, I have a 7.30 am admission. Thanks for your good wishes and congratulations on your one year old new hip. Happy birthday for the 27th !
Thank you mods and online team. By the evening I should well and truly have been done.
Thank you Vonski, you are a poppet when you have so much to contend with yourself.
Dear Liz, thank you so much for replying. This is the op that I am most nervous about and I have had a few, along with procedures too, but I trust my surgeon and I can see no way round this but to have the operation. I shall most certainly take you up on your offer of asking you any questions that I may have post op. It is reassuring to know that someone else on the forum has been through similar.
Dear Julie, likewise I am very grateful to Liz for replying to my thread and you may well have some questions for her in the future too. So you will have two of us to compare notes with, when you get your date through.
Thank you dear Speedy, I also hope that as a result of this operation, I get back at least some of what I have already lost. This is the unknown for me and my consultant. He has told me that it will stop further deterioration though.
Dear Cris, thank you for popping in as I know you have so many of your own problems to deal with. Liz’s positive post was good to read and it is reassuring that I have someone to turn to chat to about it if need be.
Dear Rita, Elizabeth and Ange, thank you so much for your good wishes and healing vibes. Ian cannot sew or iron, Elizabeth so he will be no good for you! The pre op went ok thank you, all the usual forms to fill in, being weighed, blood test, urine sample, blood pressure taken three times and all of them really high and an ECG – routine after the age of 50 I believe. I had an ECG in March before my bunion and toes op but that was not good enough.
Dear DD,thank you so much for calling in today, especially as you are still not at all well. I could not help laughing at your account of your doctors appointment though. You most certainly have a way with words. I do hope the antibiotics kick in fairly quickly for you.
Tomorrow will be a fairly quiet day for me but Saturday and Sunday morning I shall be looking after Lola so that will make me forget about my forthcoming operation.
You are all such lovely people to be replying to my thread – it really does help.
Love

I am thinking about you and sending loads of Wonky hugs ((((((((())))))))along with much love.

Dear Wonky, please do not apologise, I am well aware that you are going through it and have been for a long time and I am so sorry. I return love and gentle hugs to you too.

thanks Elna
will be thinking of you and all the others who have ops coming up in the near future - seems to be a few lately
I really hope you get more than you imagine from the op - but I knwo only time will tell.
As for husbands and cooking/ironing etc ..... it's surprising how they manage when we can't manage for them
I know - mine's been doing it for far too long
must log off now but leaving more hugs ((((())))))
WOnky xxx0 -
Dear Wonky, yes there does seem to be quite a few of us going for ops and yes, I would like some improvement if possible, I feel I have deteriorated quite fast, especially from the walking point of view. You are probably right about husbands being able to manage if pushed!
I hope you sleep well, my bed is calling me,
Night, night,
Love

Hi Elna
Just popping in this morning to see how you feel.......What time will it be? I dont want to miss your pocket You've probably said somewhere along the line but I have a memory like a goldfish I do know its not today re reading that bit of post made it sound as if i thought it was. Just want to get things straight in my head so I'm there on time for you.
This is a completely unknown to me so certainly cant help you out but just know that I'm there with you....wishing you all the best.
Ian will cope in his own way....they always do {even if its not our way }
Love

I am glad to read the pre-op went okay but high blood pressure is not so good.
I do hope Lola will help you pack your bag for Tuesdays op. I am going to wish you well now incase we don't get a chance to talk again before Tuesday.
Thanks for always being there for me too.
Loads of gentle hugs and lots of love

To make extra sure I don't infect you I am now using bamboo garden canes to type (three glued together) I am in my bedroom, the lappy is twenty feet away, should be enough.
We've reached the 'This time next week it will all be over' stage of proceedings now, and I think this is always the toughest part. I know you know that you are being cheered on my so many, we will be with you all the way there and back, and with Ian too (I am parcelling up my Mrs Beeton later, just for him) but there's no harm in reminding you. As you know I am not a great one for the hugs etc so brace yourself: ((((((())))))) and a smidge of love too. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hello Elna
Hope you managed to sleep last night.
I imagine it will be hard to get off to sleep initially with lots on your mind.
You are going to have a lovely weekend with your lovely little girl, she will make you smile a lot.
Thinking of you lots as I know everyone on here is too.
Love and hugs
Kath xx0 -
Morning Elna,
Yes, Ian will cope - though he'll probably give himself a break from healthy eating. It's what men do and it won't hurt him.
The ECG is routine. They always give me one these days. Of course you are concerned. This is a 'different' op, but only to you: not to the surgeon. It's normal for him.
Have a good weekend. It's important to keep having fun.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Dear Hileena, I do not expect you to remember all the details about my impending op, you have more than enough to contend with at the moment. But to let you know it is a 7.30 am admission on Tuesday. Ian will not like that but at least he can go to work then and have a snooze at his desk before his work colleagues arrive. They will be surprised to see him there so early as he is usually not in until after 9.00 am
Thank you dear Elizabeth for the good wishes, love and hugs, I shall be in touch as soon as I can after the “event”.
Aw, dear DD, you do make me laugh, typing with bamboo sticks, with the lappy 20 feet away. Where do you find your sense of humour from? There you are suffering and you can still be cheerful. I do hope the antibiotics are kicking in. Ian WILL enjoy the cookery book for bedtime reading! Nothing like a big hint about doing the cooking, is there? Thank you for the hugs, especially treasured as you don’t give them away easily, so I feel honoured.
Dear Kath, I did sleep well last night, but the amitriptyline helps. I do not think I shall sleep well on the Monday night, but will have time to sleep and rest in hospital as I shall not be allowed out of bed for a couple of days, so I was told.. I hope you are ok.
Dear SW, you are right, Ian will manage, he has done before, so he will again. You are also right in saying that this op is new to me but not to the surgeon so I shall say that to myself, when I get the occasional “wobbly” about it all.
You are all so kind, especially as you have so much going on with yourselves, bless you all.
Lots of love

Hi Elna,
I just wanted to stop by and see how you're doing as Tuesday is now on the horizon. I'm so pleased you're coming across as very positive - even if your inner core may be a little wobbly jelly.
Have a lovely time with Lola, she is a delightful way for keeping your mind off things.
Take care, I'm thinking of you (whoops that sounds like a threat   ).

Hi Elna
Thanks for the reminder about the time
I'll be there in your pocket

Hileena0 -
Dear Linda, thankyou, yes, I am getting "the wobblies" every so often but I do not want to deteriorate any more so needs must. Yes, being with Lola this weekend will take my mind off things. I do not take it as a threat that you are thinking of me, bless you. I hope you are still going on well and going from strength to strength.
I hope your weekend goes ok.
Love

Dear Hileena, thanks for being there for me, even that early in the morning! I hope you soon get the results of your bone scan. it gets a bit much, doesn't it, when we have to chase the medics up for results.
Enjoy your weekend,
Hugs

I feel quite shattered after today, so when I have finished the washing up, it will be an early night for me, methinks.
I do hope that the weekend goes well for you all,
