    Hi All

Just popping in on behalf of Cris to let you know she has a doctor's telephone appointment this morning at 11. If they insist on seeing her she will go in, but isn't keen as the doc on duty is new and she is in a lot of pain.

She doesn't know what they may suggest. She has had MRIs on the neck before and had the opinion of two consultants who both have said it was too unstable to operate on.

Of course the increasing bouts of numbness may change things now.

    Finger's crossed

I am so sorry to hear about you, Cris - not long now until the phone appointment. I was wondering how recent was the latest MRI? I do hope you get some good help with your problems.

Thinking of you and thank you Toni for the update.

    Love
    Elna x

    Hi All

Just a quick update from Cris. she had the phone consultation and sadly it wasn't that much help:

he said this is what you get with advanced spondy and she is to double her pain meds ( they are pretty strong ones  ) and if things don't settle in a day or so to contact the pain clinic doc.

She found out from him that she has an 'open' appt with her, which she hadn't realised. This is good news as she has a lot of time for her.

He also suggested she try the collar on 'loose'.

Bless her we had a good chat and l got her laughing in the end

Thank you Elna and everyone for caring. The neck is making typing too painful just at the moment, but she does try to look in if she can and appreciates all of your kind wishes.

    Love

    Toni xx

HI tis wonky PA here

Cris is on the phone dictating :lol::lol::lol:

    so in Cris's words ......

First of all thanks to Toni for really lifting my spirits this morning.

Toni and I have hatched a plan to try to track down the surgeon who operated on my lumbar (a very tricky op at the time) and get his opinion on the neck. Tis important to get an opinion from someone I trust. Sadly I'll have to pay because they (pain doc and rheumy) won't refer me to an ortho. The pain clinic doc said if it was her neck she wouldn't let anyone touch it.

Elna - the last full MRI was about 4-6 years ago, but the neck is checked regularly by the pain doc using ultrasound. Apparently - as I understand it - the bones are too deteriorated to be able to hold the screws that would be needed in an op.

Sending hugs back to Barbara, Joan, Val & Suzy and we'll leave a sachet for Izzy (and hope that littlelegs doesn't see if first )

Sorry too for keeping letting the forum down & I'm so sorry.

Thanks to you all for the care you show me, it's really appreciated!

love and hugs (and cris is insisting that I thank Wonky  :lol: )

I do hope you manage a proper sleep tonight Cris and it is good news about the pain clinic.

Thinking of you and sending some calming vibes and a one way train ticket for the two winged ones.

    Hugs as always,

    Hello Cris

Although I am not posting much at the moment I am looking in sometimes and I do think about you.

I am so sorry that you are in so much pain with your neck.

Having spent ages trying to deer-proof the owl box, I decided we might as well put his cunning to good use instead so have been trying to train him to collect the supplies from the owl box and and take them to wherever you are. So hopefully he is on the way to you now (but hope he doesn't eat the CDM on the way )

Thinking of you lots Cris. Love and ((()))s

I think Joan has very neatly summed up my feelings, skezier.

I like the 'cunning plan' that you & Toni have hatched up. An expert you have faith in, with a good track record on you, seems like the ideal guy to ask. Go for it. And take some of these with you. ((((( ))))) (For you, not for him. OH well, whatever it takes!)

    Dear Cris

I am really sorry to hear that. Yes, a good idea to try to track down your ortho from years ago. I do hope you are able to do this and he is still "in the profession".

    Hi All

Got Cris (yes the VIP) on the phone as l type

    She says the following:

I found 'my' Mr Browne - with an 'e' Unfortunately he has actually retired and is only doing consultancy work for insurance companies now  .

Having said that l did have a productive conversation with the private clinic which has helped me understand that l can't 'run from this' I am looking at palliative which is the right way to go and the chat helped me accept that a bit.

HOWEVER l reserve the right to (from time to time) dummy spit and kick my legs in the air (on a good day  ) This may include screaming shouting and sky ranting and generally crashing about the place refusing to believe this......you have been warned

ON the GOOD side l woke up with much less pain, (and far less pins and needles the numness now hurts because it's coming back to life),and even managed to wear the collar for an hour. Unfortunately the weight of my head has kicked it again now. This is the FIRST time for days :grin: .

The upping of the Oxy has helped no end and l am feeling much better. All in all l woke up much better the first time for about a week  .

Wonky and l were talking last night about whether the OT could make me a custom-made collar?? l am still waiting for the appointment, but will ask.

Elna l might still be after one like yours  Can l ask has it got a bit that comes down over the shoulders because that would go over the lump and it might be just what l need.

Hugs to all of you - especially; Tilly the Deer on his way back, a sachet for Suzy and littlelegs thanks her for the parcel Sticky Haz is bouncing in your general direction with his suit on  (as Toni l am jealous)

Huge thank you to Wonky and Toni (who is that??) for doing such duties (wages yet to be negotiated) Be warned (Juliepf will verify this) l will nab any of you to do PA duties!

Major thanks to all of you and l am so grateful for keeping me from being too down. I can look in just not type. I have had a 'warning shot' but this time with rest (and some sensibleness - Toni)will be ok.

    Love

    Toni xx

Aw dear Cris, no, this brace does not go over the shoulders. You can google it if you have the strength - Miami J Collar. It definitely keeps the neck in place. I can vouch for that. :| Do you think that you woke this morning with less symptoms because of the enforced rest?
I wish I could do something to help you.

    Thinking of you,

    Hi Cris,

Well done for finding your Mr Browne with and ‘e’! Sorry that he has retired though. Wonky’s idea for the OT special neck collar is a good possibility, so I hope you get your appointment soon.
Well you have had your orders in no uncertain terms and you must not do any typing and rest and conserve your energies for a while. .... there has been rumours of the forum hammer being used if you don’t comply!!!

Hi Toni Thankyou for your update you are very very good at this pa job

    k060.gif

Cris I have the same problem with peeps retiring, my last rhummy dr,my gp and when I went to see this other surgeon he said he thinks the surgeon who originally took me on may be retiring  (he didn't look that old and.....he still has the other job to do when this oone is done  )

Glad you woke up yesterday with not as much pain and that you were able to wear the collar for a while. A good Idea  to ask if you could have one made to measure.

Hope the rain has stopped where you are, today we have dull but dry.

    Sending hugs and a cuppa
