May, I'm sorry it was such a tough day for you. I guess, if the physical stuff doesn't get you the emotional stuff does. The last thing you needed was worry about your daughter. I hope the results are good. I am thinking about you. Take care.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Ditto 100% to StickyWicket's post - sometimes misfortune doesn't let up and everything comes like a tsunami - but it will pass and things will seem brighter again soon I am sure. Re your daughter's shoulders - at least they are investigating thoroughly and not just leaving her hanging on - unlike you and your poor sister? Best of luck over the coming week while I'm away May,
Mat xxIf you get lemons, make lemonade0 -
Thanks Sticky,Emotional stuff is causing physical stuff to kick off.
Feel like putting my knees and feet in an ice bath.
Not normally as bad as this.Pull yourself together girl!! things can surely get better. May
Mat,I will bounce back, always have.Just give myself a good telling off.
I'm doing exactly what I told you not to do....worrying about things that might not happen.Take care, here from you when you get back.0 -

Oh it does, May. It does. My early flares corresponded exactly with 11+, O-levels, A-levels and Finals. And there's no getting away from it. All one can do is share it. It doesn't make things better but it does make them better than if one didn't share it.
I don't think you need to pull yourself together at all. I think you are a very 'together' sort of person - a lesser one would have crumbled long ago. Don't be so tough on yourself. You're doing great. And we Mums never stop worrying about our children. It goes with the territory. Not letting on to them is the difficult bit though, isn't it?
On a purely practical note - if your feet & knees feel like they need the ice bath treatment, why not? Or, that good old standby, a packet of frozen peas?
I hope tomorrow is a little easier all round for you.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Dear May
You have had bad days before and they have passed. I do hope that tomorrow is calmer all round. Today does seem like one thing on top of another.
I am sorry to hear about your daughter. Try to stay calm about that until more facts are known. Again easy for me to say and it makes it more worrying sometimes when they do not ask questions.
Very true, we never stop worrying about our children.
I do hope that tomorrow is easier for you all.

Moning all,
Definately calmer this morning. Both of us.Might not be a bad thing having a social worker for my sister.I have managed to convince her that she can't just be dragged away from me.....unless of course I am neglecting her.
Her mind is all over the place and she just wasn't thinking straight.
Then of course there was my daughter....and mine went into overdrive.
This is so not me....I face things when they actually happen.
I had no idea my daughter had had her bloods done,so this came out of the blue. She was just annoyed she had to have more done.
Getting results in a week.
This daughter is my tough one but she's lost a lot of weight lately yet she is a good eater.High inflam markers....not my espertise.
So I'm a bit lost on this....and why more bloods?
Well no district nurse today, they have decided to do the dressing every other day,but I've changed it,gloves and pinny on.Done her intravenous drugs and now making a coffee.
Take care of yourselves and I hope wherever you are the weather is better than it is here. May0 -
Dear May
It is good that you are calmer today. Thinking things out more logically, both of you.
The weather here is bright, sun shining. I am out and about today so that is cheering.
So you have had your nurse hat on already. I am just dressed. Had a bad night with "restless legs".
I hope your day continues on the calm side and that you are not suffering too much with the hurting bits.
Love

Hello, I'm so sorry you and your sister are having to cope with this, it must me very hard for you both. Especially you.
You'r not being selfish, I can understand how you feel I've had family illness and loss to cope with and it made me feel the way you said you feel.
You'r very worried about the sister you love, and coping with the shock you feel and if your sister is staying with you, its a 24 hours a day 7 days a week comitment. Its all new to you too. If she goes into hospital, you will also have to visit. I looked after my mother in law and it knocked me out.
The only practical help i can give you, is to take any offers of help you get, as you need them.
I'm sending you and your sister my love and best wishes for any further treatment. Lots of love Sue xxxx0 -
Hello my lovely, my word you have more than your fair share going on at the moment, don't you? I second Sticky, I think you are coping well so please don't be too hard on yourself, but as you are in the midst of it all you won't be able to see it for yourself.
Right, your girl. Are we talking about my old friends CRP and ESR when you say inflammatory markers? If we are then she may well find herself having a fair few tests over the coming weeks, just to monitor what is going on. I am not going to speculate about what it may or may not be as I am not a doc, but I think she will find herself making more than one trip to the surgery, and that can only be for her benefit. Tiresome for her, I know, but necessary.
How's John? I hope he is well and settling well into his new role as a Domestic God. If he fancies cooking in someone else's kitchen for a chnage don't hesitate to send him round, there will always be a warm welcome for a chef chez DD! I am doing meatballs tonight and will shortly be leaving here to start my absolutely delcious home-made pasta sauce. There are some heavenly combinations in this world (no, not knickers!) Gin and tonic, strawberries and cream, cheese and pickle, fennel and basil. Guess which combo is going in the sauce.
Take care. I am thinking of you and your sister. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi,
Elna...No hat..no uniform for that matter.
DD,You a bit better.I don't know which blood tests she had,she just said thyroid ok,not diabetic and inflam markers up.She doesn't know anything else, told her she should of asked.
Right now, social worker...nice and pleasant.Didn't really know why she was here.Hospital just told her I had sister here and may not be able to cope.Showed her round, shower seat etc. She was more interested in a cup of tea.At least I didn't fall over my feet again.
I could manage to cook a meal but John has just taken over the kitchen.
Oh pasta....been a week or so since we had any.Might give a little hint but make him think it's his idea.
Well both of us are now totally relaxed....although we are still aware there is another op on the way.
Tired but not physically.....mind you I'm not going to do anything stupid like clean the windows!!!!
Here I go again...not knowing how to thank everyone.
I've never been on a forum until I came here and I couldn't have picked a better one.Your support has really helped.
Bless you. May

You do sound more relaxed, May, and I'm very pleased about that. Of course things won't be all smooth (Whenever were they?) but, on the 'one day at a time' basis, you'll get there, especially with your lovely husband at your side.
As for thanking everyone - there is absolutely no need. We give when we are able and accept when we need it. That's how it works and I, for one, am very grateful. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Everyone,
I haven't been around much today but have looked in on you all once or twice.
Been feeling really rough, especially knees and feet although my back is playing up too.Pain dullers have not touched it.
So glad the social worker came yesterday although I managed to drag myself through the district nurse visit today.
Every time I've gone to do something John has told me off and my sister has been fantastic.....took ages to shower her thiis morning.
Because of not being able to move her arm she is unable to wash her back....but she did most of the rest.
Oh...now shoulders and arms are aching...good point...hand isn't as swollen.
I've got my 3 monthly bloods tomorrow CA125 ...cancer one.
Will you go away...or as I know you won't will you just ease up PLEASE.
Tomorrow is another day and I need and must feel better than this.
Possible I am getting too used to coco's and they are not helping as much as they did.
There I go...pathetic again.
I do hope you are all feeling as well as possible. May0
