I have run in 9 Great North Runs. Unfortunately, Arthur stopped me from running my 10th in 2010 which would have rounded things off nicely. I didn't manage to win any of them. There were usually around 4000+ runners and I would come about 2400 and something so not far from the front.

I went to school with Eddie Jobson of Curved Air, Roxy Music and Frank Zappa's band among others. He went out with one of my friends.

I started recycling many many years ago. My family used to laugh at me for using the same carrier bag more than once and now we're all told we should do it.

Tony I only stopped for a much needed rest. Been refused entry to a few-the shame

Steve Ovett once asked my Sister out but she declined the offer.

I am still utterly boring with no interesting features but I'm starting to revise my former belief that I'd never met anyone famous. Looking at all the names listed on here I now have to conclude that I may have met lots of famous people: I just haven't a clue who they're supposed to be.

Forgot to mention....if anyone saw the recent growing children programmes on autism, dyslexia and OCD (BBC4) my daughters class and her form teacher were featured and she is in a couple of very brief shots in the dyslexia episode.

We both sat through the first episode-the autism one- because my Son is autistic and I was obviously interested and when they had the closing few minutes my daughter suddenly jumped up and said 'thats my school'. They had done some filming( with our permision) a few months previously but I hadn't known what programme it was for.

I grew up thinking my family were Scottish protestants. It was only a few years ago, my mum told me that my Gran and Granda were catholics and had come over from Ireland when they were young. In Glasgow, my gran wanted her daughter, my auntie, christened as a catholic but the priest refused to do it as my gran was late after walking through very thick snow to get there. So she turned her back on her religion and became protestant.

That is very interesting Applerose.I've heard of a lot of Irish Catholics who became protestant to obtain work. Its a big about-turn for someone to make and I can see how angry and let down your Gran must have felt but it can't have been an easy decision for her.
I would like to start studying family history but don't know where to start.

I use Friends Reunited. I filled in as much as I could then sent messages to people I thought could be related and got messages from other people. I found a cousin I hadn't heard from in a lot of years and a cousin of my dad's I didn't know existed. I was then able to look at their trees and fill in some more of my own.

One very famous person I've met is a certain tjt ( Tony )
    Yes girls, he's lovely :D

Been kissed by Rehab44, and still haven't recovered yet

My other claim to fame is that I used to teach Jayne Torvill at Junior school. She makes me feel ancient when I see her on TV now as I can still see her as a 9-year-old.

I think she's lovely, and hope she continues to reign for many more years. Long enough to give her jug eared son time to decide not to bother with the throne so it can go straight to William :D
