Hi Granddad Colin
Lynn and Elna   I meant the towel was for the car seat or my sofa whilst she waits to go into hospital not for a DIY delivery
If you get to the hospital before you're 5 minutes between contractions they send you home again these days. (In my day you were allowed to go in to hospital after the first few twinges, have a nice bath and a cup of tea, much more relaxing in the good old days )
What will I do if her waters break on my sofa   ...........................maybe I should make her wait in the garden. :?
Still waiting 1 day 7 minutes overdue.

Good morning Linda That is exactly right, DIL waited as long as possible and was disappointed as there was no time for the birthing pool. Oh Linda, get the polythene sheet out
I'm getting really excited for you now, "nearly NannaLegs".
Love

Sorry missed this thread as been busy but luckily not missed the big event itself.
This is a popular time of year for babies...so many friends are celebrating their birthdays. Hope he or she comes today.
Loved having my babies. I was so lucky and had easy time every time(probably why I had 5). That feeling when you hold them in your arms for the first time is amazing.
So excited for you Linda and can't wait for the name to be announced too!

Hi Toni, Elna and 'E'
Sorry, no news yet
We do have a pond if there's no time for the birthing pool although the fish, newts and frogs will be looking on ............suppose I could always blindfold them
Phone rang half an hour ago it was .................................my sister  That's the fastest chat we've had in our lives, she understands as she's already a grandma three times over.
I've baked a cake this morning purely so I could sing the lyrics " ♫ If I knew you were coming I'd have baked a cake ♪ ♫"
I've also had my hair washed as my grandbaby has to see NannaLegs in all her finery!
Still waiting.

Oh dear Legs, you are living in Tenterhooks Central at the moment aren't you? Are you able to sleep at night or is it difficult to settle in case the phone rings? I am thinking of you, this is a very exciting time is it not? DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

If it's a boy might she call him Ichabod?0
-
When my sister was pregnant and was due she eat a hot curry and sat in a hot bath to try and start her off. It's surpose to work most of the time! Hope you become a nanny soon Linda! And if you want to try the idea let me know if it works!0
-
Oh Linda I'm getting so excited reading this thread.
My daughter is living with us so no wine here either! I'm the birthing partner and was thinking of taking a small bottle of fizz with us for after the event.
We are on 8 days to go! and like you we don't know what kind of baby we are getting, so the hospital bag contains a selection of clothing.
I will keep looking in for updates.
Much loveRuby0 -
What about sitting in a hot bath, eating a curry (thanks Bubba) whilst watching Wimbledon (thanks 'E') .................that might work The alternative might be that I tell her I've put this thread up and the whole of ARC members are possibly waiting for news
Yes, Dreamdaisy, we are able to sleep but when I do I'm generally giving birth  I had a little girl last night and Mr Legs said he wasn't keen on it and pushed it back in    Good job it was painless
Ichabod, I'll suggest that as a name and see what they say
Hi Ruby, my sister was there for the births of all her three grandchildren with her daughter's partner too. (I'll warn you it's not an easy thing to watch your daughter go through.) Fizz is a lovely idea and I shall hold your hand too .....just don't let yours be early
Still waiting.

Legs, just a word of warning - when this little one does decide to join us in the world, please keep Mr Legs at arms length at first, just until you're quite sure he won't attempt it in real life (We ACers can't go through all this again.)If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Willingly Sticky. The trouble is when you're arms are permanently bent, such as mine, arms length is a bit too close for comfort  Anyone got a spare barge pole?
Just spoken to daddy2b and there's not even a twinge yet ............so .................
..............still waiting.

Luv,
Legs, the arthritis has got to your brain. Daddy2b isn't the one who gets the twinges
Would straitjacket do instead of a bargepole? You could borrow MrSW's second best one.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Ah Linda
I'm getting a little addicted to checking on your thread!!!!
It just ran through my head to take my laptop upstairs so that I can look if I wake up!!.......!Ruby0 -

I thought daddy2b gets the twinges and mummy2b gets the downright, full blown, eye watering pain
As for Mr SW second-best-straitjacket - that's a good idea but who does the buckles up, would it require a third party?

I must admit I'm getting addicted to my own thread Ruby.  I was just wondering that if she goes into labour in the middle of the night will I log on just to let you know ...................I think I probably might
It'll probably be all quiet till the morning now ................hope so we're off shopping for a new oven tomorrow ................with our mobiles glued to our ears of course.
Two days overdue ..............still waiting.
Night-night all, luv,Love, Legs x

Nothing yet?
I'm off on a course all day so wont be able to pop in.....enjoy the shopping trip!
An oven how appropriate...!
Check and double check you have your phones before you leave..see you later!Ruby0 -
I'm off to hospital (about the 2nd THR) but my ears will be burning.
My Charlotte was 14 days late. They told me to come in to be induced that night-which I didn't fancy so I did some cartwheels(seriously) and she was born just after midnight.
First daughter was brought on by the 'football' European final between Liverpool and Roma when Phil Neal scored. The last 3 just came in their own time and on their own terms.
