Domiciliary physiotherapy services in London, UK
Hey folks,
I'm a 33-year-old male with haemophilia A and osteoarthritis of the right knee. The knee has been locked at about 90 degrees for 6+ months, and remains painful. My left ankle was fused 7 months ago but hasn't had its rehab because of the knee problem I just mentioned. I'll be having a total knee replacement surgery for the right knee in February or March. I want to do whatever I can ahead of that surgery to get the best outcome possible. I live in NW10, London. Could you please point me to some domiciliary physiotherapy services that I could use?
Thanks,
Rahul

Hi Rahul,
I think it's great that you're thinking ahead and trying to do all you can ahead of surgery to ensure a good outcome. I've had 3 knee replacements (over 43 years) and all have been very successful. I found the key was never to rush progress but to be very conscientious and regular with the exercises.
In answer to your question - I assume we're talking about a private physio as I've not heard of the NHS doing domiciliary visits (though they might). Here is where you can check out credentials https://www.csp.org.uk/public-patient/find-physiotherapist/find-physio . In your case I'd be very careful to do this as I'd guess that, with your ànkle ànd with haemophilia, it would be easy to inflict damage.
I do wish you all the best.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

You could try to see if your local health authority uses the NHS Anywhere service. I live in the west of Scotland and I'm just coming to the end of my second 12 week online physio course. In my case I have one to one sessions with an NHS Rheumatology Physiotherapist. It's a bit like a zoom call - I think it's a great service.
