Hello Everyone

I've recently been diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. After two long years of tests and scans, my rheumatologist put me on a course of steroids for 3 weeks and I had 3 weeks of bliss! Between that and my history, he decided that I had PsA.

I've just had more blood work and am having a fibro scan next week to make sure my liver can handle the meds as I've got a non alcoholic fatty liver.

I'll be talking to the nurse in April about my treatment and to be honest, I'm scared of the meds. I'm so sensitive to everything and I'm not sure how I can put this into words to the nurse to where they don't think I'm being a drama queen.

I'm feeling very alone and isolated and I don't have anyone that I can talk to.

Thank you for listening!

Good morning @AliceRabbit you finally have a diagnosis of Psoriatic Arthritis. I suspect a type no-one you know has ever heard of. Of course you are feeling alone with it all, but you are here and there are lots of people here to do have the condition. In fact I believe the numbers of people being diagnosed with the condition is on the rise.

A quick search for PsA gave me these threads:

Do you know yet which medication they are proposing I wonder? The good thing is they already know about your existing liver issues and you will be monitored very closely.

If you can take someone with you to your appointment with the nurse that might help give you some confidence. Also telling them what you told us just - you don't want to come across as a drama queen, but medications really don't always agree with you. I'm hopeful they'll understand.

Do keep posting and let us know how things are going for you.

    Best wishes

    Ellen.

  • Hello @Ellen

    Thank you for your reply.

At the moment, they are looking at either Methotrexate or Sulfasalazine. I kinda prefer Sulfasalazine to be honest as it has less side effects.

My appointment with the nurse is going to be by phone, so I'm planning on having my daughter near by in case I forget to ask something important.

Thank you for all of your help. I hope you've had a great weekend 😊

    Take care, Alice xx
