    Hi Kath,

Mine are normally too modern........ I love the music from the 90's and '00's! I really do. This is off the Album war of the worlds and that was big well into the '80's........ I was shocked to realise it does come from the '70's but not by much!

I think I have revealed too much of my state of mind here and there...... see what modern dance music does to you!
    Take care,
    Cris

Hi Cris, one of the best songs ever i dont think Jeff Wayne wrote it but its.

I used to listen to the album all the time it was my get to sleep music
Forever Autumn from Jeff waynes war of the worlds.

My favourite line from the album

Like the sun through the trees you came to love me,
Like a leaf on a breeze you blew away.

OK ITS MY GO AND ILL MAKE IT EASY TRY THIS ONE

And then they hush their children back to sleep,
Lock the doors, upstairs they creep,
For it is said that the souls of the dead
Fill that train ten thousand deep!!

    Take Care you all

OK i'm sure one of you will know it so some more clues
    This is the next verse

Well a railwayman lay dying with his people by his side,
His family were crying, knelt in prayer before he died,
But above his bed just a-waiting for the dead,
Was the Devil with a twinkle in his eye,
"Well God's not around and look what I've found,
    this one's mine!!"

Ill give you a bit of the next verse
Just then the lord himself appeared in a blinding flash of light

Oh Colin, NOW I know why I couldn't get this
(If I had a list of my least favourite artists, Chris de Burgh would probably be at the top. Switch off whenever one of his songs comes on.)

I defo won't get any of his!

    OK guys it was
    SPANISH TRAIN

    TRy this one

So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.

ooooh!!! getting excited as I THINK I might actually know this one???!!!

errrrrr ............. worried now in case I've built this up and am going to let myself down ... but the words seem to remind me of a song about a gambler - It may even be called 'the gambler' but I haven't a clue who sang it. If It is the one I'm thinking of, it has a chorus that goes something like .....

You've got too know when to hold, know when to fold, know when to walk away, know when to run, you never count your money whilst you're sitting at the table, there'll be time enouh for counting, when the dealing's done.

Now you know what my dad used to love singing along to when I was a little one!

Spot on it is Kenny Rogers with the gambler

Try this one from the 80s and dont forget if you guess the song its your go.

    Temptation, frustration
So bad it makes him cry
    Wet bus stop, she's waiting
His car is warm and dry

    I think you're right Vonski.

    How about this one -

Tumble outta bed and I stumble to the kitchen
Pour myself a cup of ambition
And yawn and stretch and try to come to life
Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumpin'
Out on the street the traffic starts jumpin'

Nine to Five - Dolly Parton :)

Think its right so I'll risk doing the next:-

I gave a letter to the postman,
he put it in his sack,
    bright and early next morning,
    he bought my letter back.....

If it helps, yes it was a war between Neil Young and Lynnard Skynnard after Neil wrote a certain song Southern Man that peed them off.
