Struggling
Hi first time posting, i have brutal pain in both knees and various parts/joints in my body.
I have taken so many different painkillers for most of my adult life and not helping.
The pain clinic have recently told me there is nothing more they can do to help me.
I have been told i am on a waiting list for a full knee replacement, but as i am 48 i dont think i am priority and they dont seem in a hurry.
I am at a loss, my mental heath is not great!, my wife does no understand.
I have no idea what to do next.

Hi @Hibby and welcome to our friendly online community.
Sorry to hear you are going through a rough time. Do you have a rheumatologist or is your care handled by your GP? It sounds like you would benefit from going on to some medication to help your pain. I have had the same experience where people don't understand the pain and the fatigue that comes with having an autoimmune disease. It's very difficult. Definitely try to see about going on a proper drug and tell them how the pain is affecting your quality of life.
All the best, Claudia

Glad that you are on the waiting list for knee replacement. The waiting lists are very long for NHS treatment unfortunately and don't seem to be getting any shorter. I don't think they prioritise anyone, however bad the pain or the effects on mental health, because most on the list are desperately in need of knee replacement. Hope your wait isn't too long.

Hi @Hibby I am so sorry you are struggling so much, but as Bryony says at least you are on a waiting list. You don't say which 'brand' of arthritis you have, but if you are on the waiting list I know it's bad.
I am struggling to think of anything else you could try while you are waiting and wondered about the Nuffield
joint pain programme which my sister has just completed as have a good few people here. It's free and my sister said that everyone on the course with her reported improvements.
A lot of us here do suffer with our mental health - living with constant pain with no end in sight it's understandable have a look at this
It is tough for our families and friends to understand the constant pain we are in they just want us to get better.
Take care Hibby keep posting it can help
Toni
