I've read alot of the posts regarding surgery, and tbh I'm finding it pretty difficult. I'm 38 and was not expecting to be going through something like…

Update on my recent Hip replacement
Hello to all you kind people who gave me advice before my left THR. The op itself went well and I was hoping not to have any sedation but thankfully the anaesthetist in his wisdom thought differently and I had a low dose of “ Ketamine” Which I think is a horse tranquilliser 🐎😁 Well it worked a treat ! I could hear all the…

Upper body strength and using crutches
Along with the exercises recommended for before hip and knee replacement surgery. It would be really good to have exercises recommended to strengthen your upper body and the muscles you will use to move yourself around getting in and out of bed, the car, chairs etc. and using crutches. Thank you

Techniques for getting in and out of bed etc.
Could there be some information made available giving techniques for getting in and out of bed after hip replacement surgery. And also the car. Knowing things like this can greatly help with recovery. And for after the six week milestone when the person feels ready getting in and out of the bath.

When to exercise
I am awaiting a THR on my right hip. As I have scoliosis and kyphosis, I am at very high risk of dislocation after the op. (My left hip was done some 20 years ago, when I was 60). Surgeon has said to walk as much as possible to prepare for the op and strengthen that whole area, which I am trying to do, plus specific leg…

Hip Replacement Surgery - The Rottinger Approach or Rapid Recovery
I have just read an article on my news feed from the Daily Mail on this new approach to hip replacement that enables patients to be up and walking out of hospital the next day with no crutches/sticks! I read on and it is already available in some private hospitals and surgeons from these hospitals are now passing their…

With my first hip I came home after 5 days using just a walking stick and I know I was walking unaided at 6/52 when I saw the surgeon for follow-up but…

Problem following left total hip replacement - advice please
Hi, I had a left total hip replacement at the beginning of March. After approximately 7 weeks I noticed that my leg doesn’t straighten and my knee turns in. X-ray has shown an unstable knee with moderate OA. I wondered if anyone else experienced anything like this and what the outcome was? Thank you in advance. 😊

I have been on a waiting list for exactly 12 months now. 3 weeks ago I had my right hip replaced following a number of years of increasing stiffness.
