For a year I have been told that my neck pain was simply an age related wear and tear issue and the local clinic simply offered standard pain relief suggestions.

Research now shows it is not just an 'age' issue but also a distinct disease often related to metabolic issues. There is very little about this on most information pages

and very little known by clinics with regard to preventive measures to avoid the disease progressing or its early diagnosis. I would be very interested to learn of any new research and treatments that are currently not openly available?

I will draw your post to the attention of my manager @PeterJ and the @helpline_team to look at @llandysul in case they have any useful information about research for you.

    Best wishes

    Ellen.

Thank you, my neck pain has mostly been dismissed to me as just an 'age related wear and tear', and 'nothing' can be done, apart from pain killers. But more recent research in the USA for example, actually seems to now say that this is due to a variety of metabolic and age circumstances and is being identified in younger adults, not just the 'old' ( I am 72 and have luckily not had any health issues before this) There seems to be very little 'prevention' or early diagnosis knowledge to help with slowing any progress and issues that may arise. Too late to prevent anything for me, but it would be nice to think that GP's were aware of what could be on the horizon. I first went to the GP some 2 years ago and it has taken two years for the recent CT scan to lead to an eventual diagnose of DISH.

Thank you ! I was slightly concerned when the local Skeletal consultant asked me to 'hang on' as he had to google it so as to be able to explain what is, as he looked though my CT scan !
