BOOKINGS BEING TAKEN FOR CRUISE NUMBER 3

Capri sounds very enticing..........I'm looking forward to that. Another B & G and I think I will have to retire to my cabin to see if anyone has left me any spare zzzzzzzz.
Are there any entertainments planned for tomorrow - apart from watching the Cap'n sail the ship overland, of course. That could get very exciting!
Anyone want another drink with me? Joy, more pink champagne? Julie? Trish?
Annie0 -
I'll have one with you, Annie, while I puzzle about teacherphobic :!:0
-
I was always teacher phobic Joan, they frightened the life out of me most days.................
It's only as I've got older I can relate to them as actually being human!
Annie0 -
They did at my first school frightend stiff I was.0
-
You should have been in my class. Nothing but sweetness and light all day long, that was me :!:0
-
Joan
What did you teach?0 -
Primary school children, Trisher, so all subjects. My most famous pupil was Jayne Torvill, who was in my class when she was 9. ( name-dropping :!: :!: ) Now feel ancient when I see her on Dancing on Ice :!:  She's still a little girl to me.0
-
Gosh what happened to me last night. One minute I was drinking Pink Champagne and then I wake up in my cabin. How many did I have? Sorry to have left you Annie, Trisher and who ever else was in the cocktail bar.
Now today, Lovely, beautiful Capri. Well it was a few decades ago. I think it looks tired now, and crowded.
I have only been twice before. Rehab, , are you going to dock at Salerno or Sorrento? (we have to take a smaller boat to Capri) Sorrento maybe, then if not everyone wants Capri then Sorrento has the most beautiful shops. Clothes to die for. And plenty of millionnaires. So does Capri, but they will all be away this time of year possibly in their skiing lodges.
Capri is where Tiberius (successor to Augustus who died 14 AD) made it his golden exile, and lived the last 10 years of his life. He was an evil and perverse character. Anyone he didn't like would be pushed off Mount Tiberius (335 m) The Villa, which bears the name of the most important of the Olympian divinites is the most representative of a consisten number of villas built on Capri during the Augustan-Tiberian era .A written tradition, quoted by Tacitus would attribute Augustus' successor with the building of twelve imperial residences all dedicated to the Consenting Gods (Jupiter, Apollo, Neptune, Mars, Vulcan, Mercury, Juno, Minerva, Venus, Vesta, Ceres and Diana)
I copied that last bit because I thught it would give us some ideas for our fancy dress do tonight. Togas and seronges, that sort of thing. Now I wonder who Rehab will be. Who do you fancy being Joan?
If we are to have about 2 days in Capri, then a trip up to Anna Capri would be nice. There are such beautiful villas here and I have always wanted to stay at the Hotel Quisisana and then tomorrow we could go and lok at the lovely blue grottos.

Hi Shipmates
The SkylARC is now docked at the Marina Grande in Capri. There is so much to see and do on the island, so I hope you will have a fabulous day.
You could spend time looking at some of the very expensive shops, just to see how the other half lives. Then stop off at the Grand Hotel Quisisana for coffee, and enjoy it's opulence and luxury for a short time.
But I think a better option would be to take the chairlift up Mount Salaro. From the top, you can get a wonderful view of the Gulf of Naples and the Island of Capri.
Then visit the Villa San Michele in Anacapri, which has one of the most beautiful gardens in the world, and take in the romantic setting and atmosphere.
A boat trip around the island will take you to see the Blue Grotto and the Faraglioni rocks, and is not to be missed.
I remember it all so well, and on a grey February day it is just the place to be.
Number One0 -
Okay number one i will just grab my hat, think i will start at the Grand hotel Quisisana for a coffee.
Next i will take the chair lift up Mount Salaro, must remember to do some retail therapy while i'm here.
Finally a boat trip to see the Blue Gotto, can't wait.
Anyone else comming :?:

Hi Julie
The chairlift is fantastic. It goes very high up the side of the mountain, and the views are really wonderful. It can be a bit chilly on the top, so take a cardigan.0 -

OOOOHHHH :!: :!: :!: :!: :!: Nuff said about teachers now :!: :!: That was in another life, and I'd rather be Number One on the SkylARC now, and in Capri :!:0
-
Well said Joan back to sun, sea and chairlifts
julie xx((((hugs)))) n xxxxx to ya all0 -
Oh I am enjoying this chair lift. I have always been afraid of heights, but somehow, not on this visit. All that has gone. I just love the clear air around Capri. You don't get any damp sea mists or fogs here. One place I would love to visit again is the Villa of Axel Munthe.
I am getting itchy feet.
O lovely memories.
Joy0 -
Hi Joy
It's the Villa san Michele at Anacapri which was owned by Axel Munthe. I remember visiting it, and the gardens are beautiful, with fantastic views over the Gulf of Capri.0 -
"Twas on the Isle of Capri that I found her" Da de da de da, afternoon all fellow cruisers..............I have completely lost the plot but seem to remember that we are in Capri in a chair lift and I've got my eyes shut as I can't stand heights..........tell me when we land!
Annie0 -
