    Evening everyone.

Yup this is late for me but just wanted to havee a read on forum

DD harrogate is lovely for shopping and Bettys tea shop looks a treat, but every time we go there the queue is a mile long.

We live about 25 miles away .

I didn't see turkish baths but I did see Harrogate spa baths but is now a chinese restaurant. How awful is that.

Hi marion, skeizer tilley and speedy. hope you are all well.
    Thanks for dropping in

No! Not the spa baths? I think that's what I meant: Rod went just after the council had spent a shed load of money refurbishing them. Unbelievable. He loved it there, swore he would go back one day - bit late now though! I hope you slept well and are feeling OK today. I hope the nurse is pleased with your progress. Thinking of you, my lovely pink flamingo. DD

    Afternoon every one

I am late today as I have waited for nurse. Took out stitches and she is quite pleased with the progress. Still not knitted together properly yet but never mind. See what the surgeons nurse says on wed when i go for follow up app.

Realy warm here today, I am boiling, Just got a astew in oven (combi microwave) I swear by it. (and at it)

Bought it about a year ago as I was burning myself regular on proper oven.

DD glad i was wrong about baths if council had spent tonnes doing em up. (I get mixed up, a age thing)

Cham. My daughter works in the grounds of harewood house in some offices in their court yards. She often walks round the house grounds and bird garden in her lunch hour.

She can't get too close to the emmerdale set , but has been near one of their bridges and the free standing post box.

She knows when they are filming because they have to use a different entrance. I have told her to get some autographs. Obviously she can't. It is a 70 mile ROUND trip for Lisa to get to work.
She took the job ecause while at uni they employed her for a year , they were so pleased with her they took her back when she finished lin june. She graduated labout 2 months ago. we are very proud.

Hi joan hope you are well today.

Marion, skeizer, tilly and speedy what you all up to.

Take care Julie pf xx :)

Well, that's good news from the nurse, what's the next step? Have they considered taking you off meth to give this wound a chance to heal properly? Surely it has to before you can wear your prothesis again. This must be tough julie47pf - I admire your courage and good spirits. DD

    Hi Julie

You live in a very nice part of the country.. How lucky your daughter is to work at Harewood House!! I am very jealous.

Glad that the nurse is happy with the wound.. really hope it heals properly very soon.

I've not been able to spend too much time on the forum this week as have been back in work for 4 days on my 'phased return' - next week I will be in work 5 days ... Am coping OK ish but am looking forward to 2 days rest now!!

Hi Julie, So glad you are feeling more relaxed about the leg. Good luck for Wednesday. Well at least the stitches are out :)
Love that area of yorkshire too. Not long since we visited Harrogate and pop over to Skipton a few times a year.

We will be having a run out tomorrow but will be looking at the weather forecast first :D

    Hi Julie,

good the nurse is pleased with your wound ...and that you have a check up for it on Wed ... I'm sure Marion came off her one of her meds to give her wound a chance to mend quicker - as DD says it might be worth asking about it - so you can pop on your artificial leg sooner rather than later.

We had a day out today to place called Conkers ... luckily the weather improved as it was torrential rain and lightning when we set off - and we were mainly outdoors. We had a lovely time and like you say it was very warm!

I have had OA since mid twenties. It affects my hips and knees. I had a THR on the left aged 30 and now have a resurface-replacement on the right - done May 2010.

    Hi Julie

Just catching up with your news. Glad the stitches are out and do hope you are feeling a little brighter there and are recovering well now. Good luck for Wednesday.

I can recommend Harrogate, such a lovely part of the world. Was it Harlow Carr or the valley gardens you saw? Glad you had a good visit. Do give Bettys a try, sometime the queue does move pretty quick and you just gotta try a fat rascal with butter!

Take care, just refilling the hug quota for you. (((( ))))

    Morning every one.

Just read all your lovely peoples messages. I get really excited when i come on and there are people wanting to talk to me. Its like waiting for the postman :)

Morning DD I hope you are well today and enjoy any leisure time you may aquire. Rich just gone to meet our daughter to take her on a bike ride. They are both doing a sponsord bike ride for leukaemia research. They have done it for the past 3 years. Its ok for Rich ,as you know he goes out every week so 26 miles is nothing to him. Lisa however goes on a bike when the letter comes through the post. I have warned him not to go too fast. She has plenty of time , the Sp ride isnt till 3rd oct.
I just popped in before I start to empty the dishwasher and get the washin out of washer. I have to put it on a airer which really annoys me. they look so untidy. Whats your OH doin today?

Marion , ofcourse you are now back at work. I admire you for that , It must be really hard . Running a home, work and arthur are quite a mix.. Hope you are pacing yourself and not getting over tired.

I hope Ironic your run out was enjoyable. and that the weather picked up. Gonna be another warm one , lovely here at the moment..

Chris7 Yes it was harlow carr. I loved the contempory garden best although to see all wild flowers , poppys daisies and what ever other flowers they threw in to make a natural garden was pretty. Will try bettys some time. There are 2 at harlow carr, but they too were busy.

Right gonna read up again cause memory is short and i have missed some of you out. j julie pf x :)

Hello julie. I had a lousy night, much pain, unsettled sleep, so I am a bit grouchy. The Husband is currently in town, doing stuff, I am boiling my breakfast eggs and I must do a shopping list. Bore chore of the week. I also have a shed load of ironing to do and a bed to change and I DON'T WANT TO DO ANY OF IT. That feels better. DD

    Back again

Hi cham I hope you have a good weekend too and thank you for your kind words. :)

DD , mmmm will ask the nurse on wednesday about mxt as she is the surgeons nurse and may know more about it than the district nurse. They are very nice people but to be honest don't know much about medications, only dressings. I will have to wear a shrinker I expect as I did last time to make the swelling properly go.
I rang prosthetics but he said it was too soon yet and i had to ask the dist nurse for advice as he couldn't see it and advise over phone. She didn't know about shrinkers. I have two here from before but they might not be right , So I will wait till i see prosthetics on the 7th. I can wait.

Oh dear DD sorry you are not too good. Leave the beds and ironing if you can. You must be tired not having any sleep and you teach as well. I admire you for that, you must be a patient lady , Bu on the otherhand I am sure your kind of teaching can be very rewarding.
Hope them eggs haven't boiled hard. Sometimes its an art. I am disappointed when I look forward to a runny egg and its rock hard. 2 mins 3 mins its just a guessing game to me.
Make sure on shop list there is a nice bar of choc for yourself.

    Hope your day gets better

You and I differ widely in our view of eggs. They have to bounce when dropped otherwise they is revolting.

I have to do the bed/ironing 'cos I've been putting both off for far too long! I shall do the ironing to the accompaniment of Fighting Talk on 5Live - lots of lovely men (and occasionally a woman) talking b*****ks about sport. I love it and that will cheer.

I hurt from my toes to my waist. Poo. You, however, my lovely girl, are in a far worse boat so I shall shut up and ask what a shrinker is. I guess from the name it is designed to reduce swelling thus aiding the fitting of a prosthesis. Does it hurt? It sounds as tho it would. DD

    Oh dear DD

Sorry you have to do the ironing after all. I love the clothes hat take no ironing unfortunately I haven't many of them.

I would say we are all in the same boat with our discomforts, and we all from what i have read on different threads cope very well indeed. Lets all have a pat on the back :)

I read on a thread somewhere you are meeting up with friends tonight at the pub, hope you have a lovely time. Have a cider for me. I could just drink one but I don't drink. (daredn't) only on spec occ. Cant wait for lisas wedding next apr, will be very very merry.
(prob sick next day) Will look lovely eating breakfast with everyone the day after. mmm don't look good in a morn.

Shrinkers yes you were right. Just a tight sock really doesn't hurt just makes you feel secure. prob like them there slim pants.

(wish I could wear em Wouldn't be able to pull em up. Or down in that case.

    speak again soon

I did the ironing, not particularly well, but it's done. I just pulled the bed back together. Tomorrow is another day, I could do it then.

Yes, DD is on the razz again tonight. I am not in the mood: the weather here is FOUL. It is extremely humid, dark and heavy, breathing feels like inhaling soup, the air is all thick and gooey. It's a long haul to the pub our friends have chosen, but I guess it'll do me good to trudge there. Once the first pint is down I am sure the world will appear to be a brighter place. By the fifth/sixth I really won't be caring much at all about anything! Then it'll be time to crawl home and fall asleep in front of Wallender. Bliss. Take care. DD

    Morning DD

Hope the evening went well and that you slept like a log.
Lovely day here. Rich outside making my ramp at front door longer. (he likes playing with bricks, childhood memories of lego)
No seriously he is a marvel. He has taken the lip out of the front door so that i can now get my powerchair out.(Yipee). I bought another on friday one that is good for inside and out. A more sturdy one than the one i am sat on now. The old one is now up here (i am upstairs).
I hate chairs but I have been on house arrest for long enough. It could be another couple of months before I can get out on scooter so I made the purchase (reluctantly). goin for a spin this arvo if i feel up to it.
We took richards mum for fish n chips last night and sat at a view point. She has just had a tnr and still feels unsteady. So , sat in the car was just right. You did your ironing , Good for you. I have some , might do it tuesday.
Have a good day. love julie pf xx

Hi Julie .... just catching up on your thread ....sorry

Great progress you're making  hope that you do get out today in your power chair to enjoy the sunshine. Rich is a clever OH....building you a ramp....impressive. :D

....about the Mtx and healing; I had to stop the Mtx jabs for three weeks, not because of the op but because at 4 weeks post op I got a wound infection that stubbornly wouldn't heal.
I had noticed though (before the infection) that the wound wasn't closing as quickly as when I'd had previous orthopaed. ops.

Worth asking about when you see your doc or rheummys.

Good luck to Rich and Lisa ...in training....and for the sponsored Leukaemia bike ride in Oct. :wink:h040.gif

    have a lovely family Sunday

    Hello Julie

Hope you have had a nice day..it's been lovely here in the North West... (a few conkers on the ground already though).

Hope your wound finally heals this week.

I am on methotrex and had to leave my staples in for 20 days (ie an extra week) when I had my hip replacement in May because the meth does delay healing. I've also been told that because of my RA and the meth I will take 4-6 weeks longer to recover than the average hip replacement patient. Perhaps it's a similar longer process with your kind of surgery??

Look forward to reading your updates this week.

Morning julie47pf, I hope things are OK and that your silence yesterday meant a lovely day out, not lying in bed feeling horrid! If it was the former, great! If it was the latter, I am so sorry and I hope you are feeling better today. There. All bases covered, I think! DD

Morning Monday soon comes around and back into the routine of a few chores a day.

Still going round like a jouster with leg sticking out but at least i am getting on with things.
Went out on power chair yesturday aft, went to local lidl (i know not exciting but needed to know how i would cope)
Found it difficult reaching for things as i can't reach far. I said to OH i will just have to go down into the town for the ride, and get little bits i can reach. (Rich always does big shop on mon eve.)We have a market on tues and fri so i might try thm again soon.
I think the chair is great but i cant wait to get back on scooter.

Marion and Iris yes I will ask about mtx on wed .(she might not know though) I have never missed a dose, I was amazed at reading these threads how many people come off when either healing or have chest infections.
I have these problems but still keep on taking it. (i have said before I am going to a new Rheumy nurse on the 2nd and these are all questions I will be asking. Got my list.

DD sounds like you had a great night but suffered on sunday Poor you, Hope you are on form today , i expect you will be teaching. Looking at this comp room I think it needs a tidy, will be diong that shortly,
    Have a good day
    everybody
