    Hi Julie

    That's brilliant - what a good appointment!

I had heard about Manuka Honey too, but not got round to buying some (it is expensive, I know).

Ineresting that the nurse mentioned 'medicinal strength' - I'll have to google it and make sure I buy the correct strength (Iris - to note too).

Wow Julie, new hospital sounds amazing!! Do you get the special honey from the chemist. (Now I know this is a really thick question - please don't laugh too loudly - but if I don't ask I'll always be wondering - do you have to eat the honey or apply it to the wound??)

Well done for your trip out too.

    Speedy

PS I think you are very wise to leave off your leg until they have checked the measurements and so on ... no point setting it back. I f you do need a new fitting - does it take long to have the new one made?

Oh speedy sorry but did smile , you put the stuff on the wound. It is in a tube. But you can buy manuka honey in a jar I have seen it in the coop, it is very expensive just to put on toast. will stick to marmalade, The leg if i need a new one would normally take about 3 weeks . Then you go for a fitting and they tweek it to make the alignment right. They then take it to the workshop in the hosp to be made up to look like a real leg. The toes are brilliant and the skin they put on is vry good too. You have to really look to see if its false. (well not in my case as my real one is bent and toes disgusting) This takes a couple of hours as you are always in a queue. As you can imagine there are a lot of people waiting for legs. But we all have a good chat. and the time then doesn't sem so long

    Have a good night

    Hi marion
just been down stairs to get the manuka honey box. Cause internet will sell loads i suppose. This says ACTIVON medical grade manuka honey (+12umf) 25g tube. You may beable to get it at the chemist or it may have to be prescribed. it is used for sloughy wounds pressure ulcers leg ulcers surgical wounds burns graft sites and malodourous wounds. I hope that helps you.

Hope you are well and you too have a good evening

    Hi Julie,
Soo happy the appointment was a good one. The hospital sounds great.
i have heard about the honey before. I think it was first used by the monks for wounds. Mind you some of their other remedies leave a little to be desired

Hope it works quickly for you.

I am sitting here and roaring with laughter (tho very quietly so I don't wake The Husband). The root of said merrimment? Julie's description of the 'new' leg versus the old. Hun, where do you find the strength to poke fun like that? I cannot comprehend losing any limb, for any reason: I suspect most of us cannot. You put my petty little woes into perspective. Thank you for your guts and humour. Our little pf is a star. DD

It could be the meds, julie47pf, or it could be hormones. You are at that sort of age now, aren't you? I've had three and a bit years of flushes, they are now tailing off, but I remember the misery well. You have my symapthy. DD
