Hi Tony thanks yes she’s quite worried which is understandable I’m glad the villagers had a good result. Yes the pans can definitely wait.I don’t really read them back anymore, poetry writing can definitely be cathartic, but at that time I was really unwell and doing things obsessively so it was bad for me , but only at that time. Would be upsetting to read them back now to myself though that is true. I went to costa today but it was early morning and quiet so I had tea and teacake inside no jam could’ve been worse, lol. Hope you had a nice pastry breakfast take care. X

Hi Kathleen that’s very good news about Emily what is she going to be teaching? Hope you find the right Zimmer frame for your dad. What are you up to today! I didn’t do much but I did go to Costa but not to eat cakes okay bye for now.

Hi Joan, thanks for the message. Excess family has departed now so that’s a good thing in many ways. I took methotrexate yesterday afternoon so still feeling a bit yucky really. A The lady did what? They do put such odd things in the papers, lol. I’m having a bit of a cheese detox today. Hopefully should be going out for lunch in a few days for a belated birthday celebration, if all goes according to plan which it usually doesn’t, lol. What are you and Sue up to today? Morning!
Mike As long as you are ok that's all that matters🙂 Hope Vixen is too behaving. My puss is right here next to me up too early to take Lucy to work no buses at all here on Sundays and only every hour starting after she should be there in the week. If she didn't have epilepsy (chemo damage) she'd be driving herself🙄 What model are you working on at the moment?
Kitty Kat Your Dad needs a zimmer to stop from falling. Good job he has his carers still he needs to keep them. You might ditch the rollator? Whichever helps you most I agree. Always safety first 😘
WONDERFUL news for Emily!! The children will benefit so much from her teaching them. Year 7's eh? Special needs is the best as you know.😁
Reshmi lovely Costa all to yourself nice and safe a cup of tea and teacake no jam should be pretty healthy. The crowds still in bed I expect.
Yes it could upset you to read the poetry back except to realise how far you have come maybe? It is cathartic though. I love reading other people's poetry.
Mum will be ok she will be so happy when her eyes are done.
Joan what that lady did cannot be legal!! That's awful😯 Yes Syringe drivers can be such a huge help especially when you are really really ill. I'm so pleased you both had a lovely day out Friday this week is going to be lovely too weatherwise! ((())) xxx
Barbara have you booked at the pub for your dinner with the girls? That will set them up for work. Has you GD reacquainted with old friends? her fiancée will make friends via work hopefully too.
Poor Mr B 😕I hope he has his appointment ready with the Dr? ((()))
There is too much pressure on kids these days sadly, but they know no different do they so probably happy enough??
Right must get some clothes on ready for the work-run!
It's SUNDAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!
one each!

Morning Froggie et al. Had cuddles from Vixen last evening from about 10 till 1230 when she went out again. I have just finished a WW1 battlefield layout which has taken about 3 months to do and have just started a War of the Roses diorama complete with a castle. I have been lent a camera to take some photos as they are both in 1/72nd scale so when I get round to it I will put some on here. Have a nice day.

Hi Barbara how are you ? thanks, i’m not sure exactly when the op is, I know they brought it forward from November need to check with mum to get the details. Thanks my mum. You have a good Sunday take care. X

Hi Toni how are you today ? thanks, but the reading poetry back thing I don’t think that’s how it works for me to be honest, it’d be like a recovering alcoholic filling her house with vodka just to test will power and practice positive thinking, of course everyone is different ,I’m aware of that, thank you. Yes she will feel a lot better after the Op that’s true. Have you always been vegan? just curious. I did have butter with the teacake but at least I didn’t have a chocolate chip panettone, lol. I didn’t have a good night felt very nauseous with the heat and methotrexate but I’m okay now thanks. Have a nice Sunday Toni take care.
greetings to turbo gran and Kathleen as well have a nice Sunday.

Good morning my very good friends, I hope you are all well rested and coping with your pain.
Reshmi, Emily teaches children who are blind, deaf, deaf/blind, those who suffer from anxiety. She doesn't specialize in any subject, but her class has lessons in independence. So cooking, laundry and anything that will give them confidence. But definitely NOT maths!
Everyone reacts differently to poetry - even their own. I wrote masses when I had cancer and when I read it back I think "did I go through THAT?!" this is my favourite one and I know it resonates with dear Antoinette too. I wrote it one year after my diagnosis.
Stalker
One year ago we met.
Just one year - and yet,
How can I ever forget!
Sometimes I catch your shadow,
Sneaking down an alley,
just around a corner,
in the darkest recess of my brain.
Stalking me -
the ghost of what once was-
and what might be again.
I thought I had expunged you,
drove you from my head
in the halcyon days
when poisons in my blood rid me of your threats.
I believed you would be gone for good!
But here you are, my stalker,
waiting,
while fear of your return fills my mind.
Oh Cancer, why are you so unkind?
Mike, what is your favourite era in history? Mine is the English Civil War. I wrote a children's novel set in that time, called Phoenix Cottage and is about time travel. It's available as a free download on OBOOKO.
Barbara, I'm so sorry to hear that Mr B is struggling. Yes, Emily is thrilled and can't wait to meet her new class. They will love her, everyone does.
Antoinette, that picture of Sleek was taken in my kitchen. You will be pleased to know she left it spick and span. All my saucepans are gleaming and I need to put sunglasses to go in there now. 😎
If I get a new walker, I shan't ditch my old one, I'll just fold it up and put it away in case I need it any time.
Crispy spud salad with sauerkraut, ham hock and peas
This recipe is from Olive https://www.olivemagazine.com/recipes/meat-and-poultry/crispy-spud-salad-with-sauerkraut-ham-hock-and-peas/ it's not vegan, but could be adapted. Sauerkraut (fermented cabbage) is not only healthy and good for your gut and bones, but its distinct flavour lifts this simple salad with super crisp potatoes and salty ham
Ingredients
- new or Charlotte potatoes 400g, halved and large ones quartered
- spray oil
- smoked paprika 1 tsp
- lamb’s lettuce 95g pack
- frozen peas 75g, defrosted
- sauerkraut 100g
- ham hock 90g pack or Vegan alternative
- flat-leaf parsley ½ a small bunch, chopped
DRESSING
- olive oil 1 tbsp
- Dijon mustard 2 tbsp
- white wine vinegar 2 tbsp
- caster sugar a pinch
Method
- STEP 1
- Heat the oven to 200C/fan 180C/gas 6. Tip the new potatoes into a bowl and spray with oil, then add the smoked paprika and lots of seasoning. Put onto a non-stick baking tray and roast for 40-45 minutes, turning halfway, until really golden.
- STEP 2
- Whisk together the dressing ingredients in a bowl then tip in the hot potatoes, lamb’s lettuce and peas, and mix well. Divide between 4 plates then top each with sauerkraut, ham hock and parsley.
Sauerkraut (fermented cabbage) is not only healthy and good for your gut but its distinct flavour lifts this simple salad with super crisp potatoes and salty ham

Hi Joan , that’s great that you and Sue go out with your dogs every day I try and go out most days if I’m feeling okay, but our house is such a massive chaos at times I, sometimes I just need to have a shower at a time at my convenience , well relatively convenience, lol, don’t worry i’ll stop The diatribe, lol. Tc. X

Hi Kathleen that’s very true indeed that everyone reacts differently to, poetry, that’s a very moving poem that you wrote about your cancer, you and Toni have been through so much. That’s great about E. don’t worry I’m not good at maths either, even though I remember I had to teach one of my ex-bosses is how to work out the VAT at 17.5%, she really was a very stupid person no disrespect, lol. Okay. Kathleen, bye for now.

Hehehe! Reshmi that made me laugh I am also rubbish at maths, but certainly can manage my finances and make sure i get the right change!!!!
Gosh I love that analogy about filling the house with vodka. My sister struggles with her mental health a lot she uses art to help herself. One thing she does though which might help is she has some words she has written now she is well....to remind her future self if she gets poorly again.....that she got through it and life can and will be ok again.
I have been vegetarian since I was 18, vegan is more recent it's more to do with other people's reactions to it? Not here everyone here is interested and supportive. You sort of feel 'attacked' a lot of the time if that makes sense. Is there anything less welcome than a vegan at a dinner party?
Morning Mike yes please i would - I think we all would - love to see your models once they are done please🙂Vixen is still being cuddly then? Maybe she has forgotten that she needs to go to the vet's... Don't let her read this will you😁
Kitty I love that poem I think I ought to copy it for a friend (coming for an outdoor curry this weekend) because cancer certainly stalks her. She is one person who will never ever get over hers. Everything however minor gives her huge anxiety. Mine is low-level luckily.
Now I really am thinking of fermented foods your recipes have come at a good time. I believe gut health should help our physical health. I can veganise today's recipe easily enough thank you 😘
Young Sleek very much likes cleaning kitchens yes she does I wondered who's kitchen she was in! Yep! sunglasses ON😎
Morning Joan. It's going to be a lovely week this week I hope you and Sue will get some nice walks in with the dogs. I am hoping to potter a bit in the garden this week when the men aren't here. ((())) xxxx
Take care Barbara I hope your eyes aren't too bad. Missed you yesterday. Bet you had a lovely meal with the girls and fingers crossed they both enjoy work today!

Oh boy, not only is it bright, but it's very warm. I'm feeling very happy today. Firstly I visited the Complete care shop online and ordered these.
I don't know when they will arrive, as there are even shortages because of delivery difficulties - BUT IT'S ORDERED!
Also, I had a visitor this morning - THE DN JO, I've had my blood test finally, whoopie dooooooooo. and breathe.
Reshmi, thank you, I'm so pleased you liked my poem.
Antoinette, of course you must share The Stalker with your friend, I hope it makes her realize she isn't alone.
I'm so pleased you can veganize my recipes and that you are looking into fermented foods for Lucy's bones. Sleek was singing all the time she was cooking and cleaning, so I could tell she was happy. She sang all of Abba's back catalogue.

Hi t , thanks. That’s great about your sister and the art. About the words I guess everyone approaches things differently, last time I was really mentally unwell was about six years ago now so I try to be a bit relaxed about it, I guess, that’s working for me but thanks for the advice. I understand about the veganism, I suppose it’s like what you said about asexuality, sometimes a relatively new concept is difficult for certain people to grasp, but people eat so many different things now, I also think there’s a bit of narrowmindedness going on there, regarding both the veganism and asexuality, but you’re doing a good and healthy thing that takes self-discipline, don’t worry so much about stupid people who can’t be bothered to understand 😄.

Hi Kathleen you’re welcome. Glad you got those things ordered and that the DN has come. I I don’t like the Sun myself nor does my skin, lol. Well, I managed and early morning walk and I’m spending the rest of the day inside so that’s good at least. Have a nice Monday take care. Xx

Morning everyone!
Mike you had better have had an extra cuppa or two ready for Sue's arrival and some treat for you to share? What is on the menu today i wonder.....🤨
Kitty yes I can veganise most things to be honest but the sag aloo is ready to go and looks really lovely. Even better it's gluten free which will mean my friend can have some - she is the same one who had B cancer I mention from time to time.
Sleek sings her heart out in the kitchen doesn't she? Abba and the carpenters yes you have her sussed. She gets Alexa to play the 2 new songs Abba have brought out. My kitchen is usually spotless as you can imagine.
I get my bits and pieces from the complete care shop too. I find their prices very reasonable. I think there are shortages of lots of things just now but it will come the caddy is a fabulous idea!
and your bloods are DONE I am so very pleased for you👌
Barbara I did blame the eyes....
I am sure the girls were both very happy in their new work and your GD's slight change of career.
Fabulous news P is coming home TODAY!🙂. A hospital bed and air mattress has arrived as well as a couple of other useful bits and pieces.
Carers 4x daily.
Is sauerkraut nice? It is fermented too....must get trying some of this.
Reshmi you have hit the nail on the head! People can be narrow-minded and do not like to be challenged by new ideas or bringing things out into the open🙄I will take a breath and ignore them. Me eating what i want to isn't telling them what to eat and being asexual threatens no-one!
My friend is escaping the hospice! I never thought she would, but they have managed to get her symptoms under control more or less. She will have carers 4x daily and all sorts of equipment at home District nurse daily.
Oh yes any funny stories about the little nephew (the bigger one?) today?
Joan! Joan I hope you are both ok? I didn't see a post from you yesterday. Hopefully i just can't see it as you know that happens sometimes then they appear! Sending love to you both and good news P is coming home!🙂 ((())) xxx
Sending love as usual to Carol and Chris. xxx
eggs for breakfast!

Morning my lovelies. My walking frame and caddy arrived this morning, so I’m not on my laptop. I need to get some sliders for the back legs as there are only ferrules on them.
Joan, any tips for using the frame? I’m sure you can put me on the right track.
Antoinette, is that pan of eggs for me? You are too kind my friend. I’m thrilled that P is able t come home, easy for you to visit her.
My family have no choice but to be accepting. We have great diversity in every one of us. With my gay sister, ditto daughter, just about every Asian, West Indian, African race we have embraced. Then myself and Emily are JWs which a lot of folk can’t stand. Then my disabled relatives. But I don’t think many people are related to a cat. But we ignore those who have no tolerance and carry on as best we can. BFN XXXX

hi Toni, thanks I agree it’s a good idea to take a breath and ignore them, you’re absolutely right. I’m really glad that your friend is leaving the hospice that’s great news. Baby R has got a new tooth, I commented on it and said “ R enjoy your rusk”, then A, who has a very fertile imagination, got a bit jealous and said “ mummy is auntie going to take the tooth out of my mouth and steal it? “, and then mummy angrily said, “ you’ve got a lot of teeth not just one and auntie doesn’t still teeth you know that“, I think she was a bit frazzled and lord A had made one silly comment too many, lol. Eggs are Great for breakfast then maybe not five, lol. Take care T. Xx
