Morning all
Mig what a lovely picture..I knew you would have a kind face..
I am still thinking about putting my mugshot on here...
Karen..aww I hope you manage a kip today...I was told by my pyhsio that you should use ice on shoulder and leave on for a couple of hours each day till the inflammation goes down...I dont like ice much prefer warmth
Marriane I was heartbroken over the giraffe..how can anyone put a beautiful healthy animal down is beyond me..both my sons live nearby...
Toady I don't blame you for not going out..hopefully the blinking flare wont last long..keep warm and safe
Is that everyone..it is pouring down here and the high winds we have been promised is getting up already..still not sorted the pebbledash with the insurance so I am sure there will be more damage tonight..100 miles and hour  think I will sleep under the bed...
I will have a cuppa and feed cuddles..shes not half growing..its all the fish she has eaten
See you later xxxxxxLove

Listening to the roaring wind outside is very scary. The house at the back of us has a conifer tree which is about 30ft. Got visions of it crashing down on us one of these days.
No snow here yet, just torrential rain. I think all the birds are roosting safely somewhere as none have been down today. Can't say I blame them!!
Lovely photo Mig, but I can't believe you are 66. That's 3 years older than me.
Barbara, we heard there will be Hurricane Force winds later too. Can't be far off that now. I'm sitting with my hat and scarf on and I don't even care. It's too cold to take them off, even with that lovely roaring fire. Crumpets and butter I think with a steaming mug of hot chocolate.
I know I've not mentioned everyone, but you are always in my thoughts so sending hugs.

Hi all, thanks for the kind thoughts, marrianne & barbara I'm not feeling too bad as such I just want to keep a very beady eye on any doubtful joints. I will still be in & out and putting my oar in; doing things on here & messing with the pics thread etc are the things I'm doing because I don't feel up to 'proper' activities so I'm blowed if I'm cutting any further back on my internet-ing as well. I am resting up here & there too, honest. Hope you're ok today too.
V windy here too, can't even imagine 100mph force it was 24-ish here on Sun I think so 4x that is scary stuff. Hope 'your' conifer stays put Kath, plenty here too so hope they have good roots. Not really in the mood to have the roof off today I must say so fingers crossed.
Mig, looking at the code for your pic, you must have used the forum Img button + the 'direct' photo link by my reckoning? Hope you work out what you did. There are slight differences between the way the various links work. See little post below (I haven't added it to the thread because it counts as one of the 'odd extras' that I may work in at some point).
Good luck with your rice & stroganoff creation.
Hello constable, and any other lurkers.0 -
If you post a pic using the 'direct' link & the forum Img button it shows up as just a picture, you can't click on it & go anywhere. If you use the longer 'IMG' link, you will see that if you hover over the picture you get the 'hand' pointer and clicking on the pic will take you to the picture on the hosting site. I've put one of each type below (you will see what I mean better than me explaining it), the second one takes you away from this site and onto a separate page with my pic on. That happens because most websites 'wrap' extra code around the photo link that's for forums, so that clicking will take you to their site. That's why I advise to lock your 'album', otherwise once someone has 'clicked' away to your picture they can then view your other photos from there.
If you view my post in 'quote post' box you can see the difference in the links, the 2nd one has extra bits of code. Hope that's helpful rather than more confusing!
That is just 2 of the possible link types but the others aren't strictly relevant here.0 -

Excellent Isn't it lovely when things click into place.. the trouble with all this sort of thing is that I could show someone in a minute or two, but written instructions can make your brain fuse.. I've had some real tear-your-hair-out moments trying to follow technical stuff.
Thanks for persisting and for the lovely picture0 -
Ooooh the winds have landed...it is roaring outside like you say Kath not a night to go out...we have fields at the back so very exposed
Kath what a lovely pic of your sons wedding.... Toady the forum will take your mind off the pain..or at least help a bit...and its all very helpful thankyou..
I am getting my candles ready just in case the power goes off...
hope everyone's safe and warm ...xxxxxxLove

Good Evening
Gosh, what awful weather everywhere. The wind started with great vigour at about 2 and then we lost our electricity  It is now much quieter and the electric came back after about an hour. Let's hope the strong winds don't cause too much damage and everyone keeps safe.
Toady, you have done so well with all your instructions for posting pics - what patience you must have. I'm afraid where technology is concerned, I would come bottom of the class
What lovely pics - really makes the cafe seem cheerful too. Love your family photo's Kath. Mig....you don't look 66 and how kind that your grandaughter baked you a cake.
Barbara, thanks for asking about my foot. The plaster should come off the end of next week and then I will be sporting a moon boot. Can't wait to get rid of the plaster as I'm not managing to sleep with the wretched thing. Still...could be worse Have you had any more thoughts about your next op?
Love to all xx0 -
Didn't manage to come in last night but have read everything. Can't remember most of it now. Hope those of you who aren't feeling so good are better tomorrow. Some lovely pictures of Mig and Kath and her son and his wife.
The wind is howling down my chimney and the rain is coming down fast. My front path is under a couple of inches of water but the garden looks ok so far. Fingers crossed the drains will take it away. My daughter was in Plymouth for the last couple of days. I heard on the news that there were hurricane force winds in the Irish Sea so I didn't think she'd get home to Dublin but just heard from her. She is home. Phew.
Hope everyone is safe.Christine0 -
Glad she's home safe,my daughter is on her way home from London should be in station about now.
The wind is howling here,my head will be under the duvet tonight. Mig0 -
Evening all my net has been off for a while..the wind is horrendous, my son has been stuck on the motorway...from 6 oclock...poor thing
I am sure my house is moving..
Mig the pic is lovely..if you took it..you would make a good photographer. ?
Catie..bet you cant wait...I have seen the moonboots it should be more comphy
Christine..dont worry its not always easy keeping up..soglad your daughter has got home safe and sound..its so scarey this weather...hope the drains can handle the water
Right I am off to bed..and like mig will have my head under the blanket
Hope youall sleep wellish...xxxxxxxxLove

evening all,
hope your all ok and safe, the weather and flooding is awful,
please take care xxx0 -
mig, your picture - ooh, pretty! Must be beautiful to be there with it all fully out but lovely to go & see it, anyway. How nice to see something calm & pretty this weather! Thank you.
Terrible winds still but it's calming a bit? I think?! Forecast says a drop in wind overnight, anyway. Hope everyone can keep wind/water at bay, applerose that it won't inch up any nearer.. 100,000 without power again they said earlier, omg. Everyone is battening down the hatches here by the sounds, with emergency candles & whatnot - I've got a wind-up torch & keep meaning to get a wind-up radio & phone recharger but haven't - also often wondered about a camping stove or one of those butane type little cookers, but I don't really trust them somehow, especially if it only got used in emergencies.
Barbara I'm ok pain-wise bless you, I'm very lucky, I have only had much pain off my joints when I'm really badly inflammatory, & by then the docs obviously want to get at you & 'do' something - in other words I'm not supposed to be in pain & haven't ever been told it's something I have to just cope with like many here. I don't routinely take painkillers these days so I am fortunate.
Catie, roll on the plaster coming off hope you find the boot to be the lesser of the two evils. I do like playing around with bits of technology so it is not really going to any trouble for me to pass it on, I enjoy it, but thanks (all) for your appreciation (and am blushing  you're too kind). Everyone has their strong points, I can't do things where there's too many options - think that's why I like things where there's a 'right' way to do it. Give me choices & I'm hopeless. I could never be any good at photography itself, there's too much involved.
Thank goodness everyone's family is safe & accounted for, that's the main thing in all this - mig & barbara hope you'll hear from your children as soon as they get home - hello Coco as well - maybe tomorrow will be better.0 -
