What a beautiful day. I managed to hang some washing out (hand is much better, just a bit achey) while being serenaded by Mr Robin. My favourite birdsong, followed closely by the Blackbird and the Chaffinch. All is dry, but I won't be emulating mig - the ironing board is on strike...
I hope all are feeling good today. The sun is very welcome. Also hope Barbara's dentist appointment goes well tomorrow.
Bubbles, thanks for the malteser cake, don't mnd if I do.
Still waiting for my dermatology appointment, I do hope they have a solution to my itchy problem
Love to everyone

Hello all beautiful day, really beautiful What a difference it makes. Have been in the garden for a little while but no Mr Robin, Kath. There was a songthrush that came here regularly a couple of years ago & I hoped would be back but no.. Mr Blackbird will do me though. Glad your hand feels better today, hope your dermatology appt comes through quickly for you.
Good luck from me too for the dentist barbara & sorry if it has to come out. Glad it's nice where you are today too. Lawn-mowers are definitely out round here, first fine day, all the little gardening pixies come out of their houses like it's a matter of life & death. Still it's a wonder there is any grass left most grub it up & put down extra drive space so can't grumble. How nice your GD is doing a T-shirt for the group - very cool. 8) You are so right about family trees etc. I have a fair bit of info because an aunt has done one side, but the worse thing is photos - I have so many & so few with anything written on them - but you don't think to, do you? It would be ok if they had been put away in order in their packets  but this is before strips of negs so they are all loose & nothing to go by. I hate things being out of order anyway so it bugs me no end. Someone would say pick out what you like & never mind when/where they are but I don't work that way.
Applerose I'm sure it is better for you to sleep & get up as the light &c dictates, more natural, and you miss the light of day. I do feel more like getting up early in summer so one day I will try pegging my hours back by degrees & try & get more back to 'normal'. I just seem to perk up a bit in the evening & that's usually when I start time-wasting on the net & stuff when I should probably be getting some quality sleep - they do say wind down before bed I am usually winding up instead. Bad habits.
Hope you had a nice time if you went to the park all the best for your extra hours tomorrow. Will get a good strong pot of tea (or coffee) on standby if needed.
Hello dachshund, hope you have a good week too & some more of this weather - and have a lovely time mig.0 -
Hi Joan. Hope you've had a good weekend.
Glad your hand is improving Kath. Robin's are lovely birds, aren't they? I have a soft spot for a blackbird who comes in to my garden and stands looking at the window until I put food out for him. I was doing a little weeding this afternoon, kneeling down, when he zoomed past the side of my face squawking. If I'd turned round, he'd have flown beak first in to my cheek. Then he stood there staring at me till I went in for his mealworms. He brought a new wife. She was tall and big boned, for a blackbird. And a bit wary of me. Fingers crossed they sort out your itching.
Yes, Barbara, I am keeping out of it. The silly thing is, my sisters post things on FB about my brother and he can't see it so I can't see the point. I have asked dad to write down some of his memories. Don't know if he'll remember though. I have started writing down my memories. I'm sure some of my descendants at some time will be interested. I'm starting my extra time at work tomorrow so will have to remember to take some lunch. Just noticed the time. Your GD's concert will have already started. Hope she's having fun. Wonder if she'll be able to start a little business doing t-shirts.
Toady, we are the same. People take photos thinking they'll remember who and when but years later, they've forgotten. I started sorting mine out a while ago and put some in to albums but got a box full I'm not sure about. And I'm like you, I feel tired in the mornings and a bit more awake in the evenings when I sit down for tea but then I can't get back up because I have had a look on the internet. Thanks for offering the strong tea. I think I might need it.
Will post a bit more later. My GD is badgering me to send her some photos I took today while we were out so I'd better get on with that.Christine0 -
Right, where was I? Had a lovely day today, a lie in with breakfast in bed, then a trip to the local park for a walk with my son and his wife and the kids. Next an Indian buffet followed by an hour weeding in the garden. I was worn out after that but waking up a bit now.
My little Ruby with her naan bread and daddy.Christine0 -
hi all seems like everybody has been in the cafe today. i was wondering where Bubbles had got to and was hoping she was okay as i know things have been tough. where is Catie too? I have heard from Karen too.
well my birthday turned out to be fab. My Daughter finally arrived after all the tube lines to our local station were closed and we had a lovely chat and played proper scrabble. My friend popped round for coffee later in the evening with flowers-all in all the best birthday for ages.
i do hope the tooth ache subsides Barbara. you'll have to have a whiskey to dull the pain,
time to sign off as will need to do my parenting duties,

This is the 1st time without a child being at home for ages as my Daughter has had a bad time lately. I had to coax her back to school as she was very tearful but they are so so nice and help her in very many ways.
My Son has had a lot of problems with getting told off at school when he reacts to music and starts etting agressive and swearing but I had a lovely phone conversation with the deputy head today. I think he may have a medical problem with his ears. Remember he had to go the hospital to get a toy removed once? I'm just wondering if some damage or sensitivity occurred. So I'm going to take him to see the GP about it to see if I can get referred to a specialist.
I meant to say how lovely Ruby was Christine with her beautiful big blue eyes.
I hope the GD had a great time at the Goth concert. Did she wear her Austrian boots? Did you wait up for her Barbara?
I saw your happy birthday Barbara don't worry. Thank you very much.I'm counting backwards from now on I just found it a really nice day. OH Mum turned up with the other Grandchild of course. If she'd said to me (like she has in the past) she was giving her Mum a break I think I'd have got very angry because she NEVER offers to give me a break even when I have been very unwell. In fact last year OH brought the little one to our house after a Mothers Day meal which I had missed because I was too unwell to attend. i was just caught by surprise but I'll be prepared if it happens again.
The sun has gone in and it is chilly now. I had all the windows opened to air the house and the washing is on the line but now its not looking so nice and is quite chilly.
I think I should go and get some sleep to prepare for the long evening ahead.
I'd leave some cake but Bubbles beat me to it with her malteser cake.
Take care all.

afternoon all
What a glorious day and I have had to have a tooth out... good riddance to it..but we went for a little walk to a nearby park..walk and rode I should say..and the sun is so warm for March I certainly cant remember this any other year...
Joan..thank you I had the tooth out and am I glad to the back of it...the fulling was put in over 30 years so not done bad
Elizabeth thought you might have missed the wishes..how lovely that the schools looks after your daughter and son..it must be a big worry for you..you might be right about your sons hearing...but its strange I know a little autistic boy that is the same with noise..and its not always loud...
Bet it is very quiet for you today...
I have just bought myself a couple of cold come warm pack today for my shoulder really, heat for my neck but that makes my shoulder worse cold really helps..so I am a happy bunny...
Will get myself a cuppa and see you later...xxxxxLove

Elizabeth, hope your GP is able to help your son. It must be awful for him to get upset over the music. Hope your daughter has had a good day at school and is feeling better now. Glad you are having a peaceful day today. I think Ruby is adorable but I would wouldn't I?
Barbara, sorry you had to have your tooth out but better that than the pain. Glad you have found something to help with your shoulder and neck. It's a bit awkward needing cold for one and heat for the other.
Well I did a full day with only 15 minutes for lunch. I could have had more time but I'd rather get on with it and leave earlier. My boss actually came and asked me if it had been a long day. I'm getting worried about him being so nice. He's not a bad person, he just doesn't think normally. I remembered I had been talking to his wife about their son's boss who sounds nasty and I had said to her that bosses should realise that if they appreciated their employees, they'd get more work out of them. I wonder if she told my boss. My son phoned to say he was passing where I work just as I was about to finish so I got a lift home.Christine0 -
Daughter was in tears this morning about going to school. But I know they will take care of her so had to send her in. We see the lovely GP tomorrow morning after a week long wait for an appointment and her consultant at the hospital later the same day. I don't like her new consultant though as he is a bit brash so not looking forward to seeing him.
Glad the tooth is out safely Barbara.
Well I hope you cope with these extra hours Applerose and a lift home will have helped. Just take it a day at a time. It is good that your boss takes the trouble to check you are okay. He obviously values you.
Seems like poor Karen is feeling very unwell. Not sure if it is her neck/ shoulder as before but she says she is in a lot of pain.
Hope you get some relief from the pain Karen.
I am very tired but have to stay awake as someone from the DWP is coming to visit my Son about bank accounts now he is almost 16. I'm not looking forward to it.
Have a good day all,
All the best

Hi all,
We went to see my dad today. He's 83 and has arthritis in his knees, his doc has given him steroids which he is doing well on. Apart from a bit of a cold, he'd not doing too bad.
Hoping all are relatively pain free. Glad your tooth is out Barbara. Feeling rather tired today. We have to catch 3 buses to get to dads's, and 3 buses back. Wore me out. Set off at 7.10am arrived at his around 9.10am, left for home at 10.55 and arrived home at 12.30 but we stopped off at the chippie on the way from the bus.
So glad this weather is hanging around, but it could be a bit warmer!!
Still waiting for my dermatology appointment  Grrrrr.
Sending hugs. Kath xx"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hi everybody, didn't make it in yesterday everything ran late all day somehow. Was packing up a couple of items I sold on 'an auction site' and it always takes longer than I think.. why is every box you have always half an inch too small one way for what you need to pack. Really late to bed and then up early for the milk (ordered some compost ) so went back to sleep again after. So 10pm isn't an odd bedtime barbara , I think I'm the oddity. Should do something by the time clocks change.
Anyway another lovely day, have put my little greenhouse back up so gardening go go go (well it will not be as energetic as that sounds, in practice). Should be like this for a few days so very thankful for it. Hope mig is having a good time beside the seaside. By the way I'm living in the Midlands-ish at the mo barbara (no not too personal), not from round here though. Wouldn't mind moving in some ways. Hope you feel better for having the tooth gone, though not something you want done of course, hope it heals quickly for you.
Kath, gosh, your Dad does not look his age! Glad he keeps well in general. 3 buses is a pain, I don't mind using the bus but it's knowing how quick you could be there in a car is what grates, hate wasting time while a bus goes all round the houses. Do hope they get on with your appt soooon!
Applerose glad you got on ok yesterday, your boss situation sounds a little uncomfortable, yes you certainly wouldn't want to think his wife had been passing on your remarks, such awkward things working relationships. :? I see you have been weeding, I expect you have been getting out again today is possible, too good to pass up isn't it.applerose wrote:..He brought a new wife. She was tall and big boned, for a blackbird.
Tkachev glad you had a good birthday, sounded like a nice day and I hope your daughter settles at school and things get a little easier all round, sorry you are having a DWP person calling, it's not nice is it, you will be glad to shut the door behind them I'm sure. No hassle with sorting out the bank business I hope.
Going to have something to eat, I am not sure what meal it counts as now it's getting late, technically lunch I suppose so disorganized.0 -
Hello Kath..what a kind face your dad has, bless I hope the steroids go on helping..its just not fair when you get old... hope the appointment comes through soon..I'm still waiting for a rheumy one... :x
Toady I wondered were you had got to....has long as we know you are okish..good for you getting the little greenhouse up ..mine was destroyed last year in the storms..I gave up with it..I think we all have to do what is best for us bed wise..I go to bed early fall asleep after a little read..then up every couple of hours..so might be better if I went late... :?
We have 2 GC here a small tea party for the middle ones 13th..the baby has been with her sister and now gone home...so I have my feet up..
Will see you all tomorrow
Love to everyone that is missing...xxxxxxLove

Elizabeth, I'm sure your daughter will be ok once she is in school. Hope the appointments go well and the consultant is a bit more pleasant. Hope you and your son got what you wanted from the DWP person.
Hi Joan. Hope you are ok.
Kath, I thought it was bad enough for me catching 2 buses to dad's but 3? And a 2 hour journey? No wonder you feel tired. Your dad looks like a very nice man. Glad he's doing ok. Hope you get your appointment soon.
Toady, hope you got a good price for your items. I've got things to sell but haven't got round to doing anything about it. I usually end up just taking them to the charity shop. And you've got your greenhouse up. Another thing still on my to do list. I've applied to try and get some help to pay for a boiler as I can't afford to pay it all myself. I got 3 quotes and sent them to the agency who deal with that sort of things. Got an email today to say they had received the information I'd sent and they'll let me know if they can help.
Barbara, I had a small and a big greenhouse. Both got damaged in the wind. Don't know if I should buy a new cover for the little one. Haven't seen one for the big one. I started going to bed at the same time every night, even at weekends when I used to stay up later, read for a while and lights out at the same time. I've found that I sleep better and wake up at the same time every morning. It does mean I don't get a sleep in though. I even seem to fall straight back to sleep after a night time trip to the bathroom. Happy birthday to your GD. A teenager. Bet she feels more grown up now.
What a lovely day it has been here. Been stuck in work most of the day but had a lovely walk home. Got the bus over to get some shopping. On the way home, the driver went past 2 people's stops despite the fact they had pressed the buzzer. When we were coming up to my stop, a young lad pressed the buzzer and went to the front of the bus. I got up just as the bus was slowing down but, when I reached the driver, he shut the doors and set off. I asked if I could get off but he carried on and I had to knock on his window and shout. I think he must have been very distracted today. And some bad news. I found my little ladybird upside down in the bath this morning. I know he was only a ladybird but I will miss him.
Hope you are all enjoying some sunshine this week.Christine0 -
Morning all
I have to see the nurse this morning blood pressure and things...both GDs gone to school they really enjoyed there Tea party for her birthday...
Chrsitine..I cant use the buses because of the fear of falling ..like yours they speed up to stops and some times go past..it was my form of transport and I have my bus pass so such a shame..how nice walking home in the lovely weather you enjoy...thanks for the birthday wishes...
There are a few people missing..Catie, Rosie,Marianne,Karen Coco...sorry if I miss people its the old brain...
The sun is shinning so will potter today...see you all later xxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
The weather has bee nippy and cloudy here since the weekend but it seems much nicer elsewhere.
I'm off to the hosp with my Daughter in a moment but just having a quick break. I was indeed glad to close the door on the DWP man but he came across as a nice chap, but feel everything was being judged.
Nice to see your Dad is doing well. I'm sure the knees are a pain though. Like the others I'm not a fan of buses but luckily OH does all the driving. Fancy driving past peoples stops!!! I think some just take the p... don't they? others are lovely.
Happy birthday to your GD Barbara and hope she enjoyed her special tea.
Toady I have loads to sell but I think I'll be doing a table top sale to raise money for my Sons school and the local autistic charity. I'm not a fan of Ebay.
I remember your little greenhouse got damaged last year Applerose. They don't last long I'm afraid. My friend applied for the new boiler but has had a long wait. I hope you do get some help.
Barbara Coco is about on fb but not sleeping so she is very exhausted. Karen has to take it easy. I have no idea about the others I'm afraid. I hope Catie hasn't had another set back and Rosie is out and about in her car enjoying the better weather.
Well I'd better get myself together for this trip to see the consultant so might see you all later.
Take care

Will see you later...xxxLove

Good Afternoon
Just to report that Catie was admitted to hospital to have a wisdom tooth removed. A couple of weeks ago she developed an abscess near a tooth and was told that rhe root canal had failed. Not so .... She sought a second opinion and was told that she had a nasty infection which needed attention immediately . Anyway, expect she will be back in the cafe soon.
Sorry to hear about your tooth Barbara. Shame we haven't evolved to produce a third set of teeth I envy my kids.... not one filling between them - wish I could say the same
Best wishes to all0 -
Hello MrO thanks for the update on Catie, poor thing good job she sought the 2nd opinion, always pays to persist if in doubt. Not what she needs at the moment. You are right about teeth needing a better design, we should wear them down like rabbits etc. Mind you there are a lot of things about our anatomy I could design better. Hope you are keeping well, are you currently in UK?
I have been in the garden, digging up & splitting a heuchera, now having a coffee break & will pot up the divided plants. A new cover for the greenhouse would probably have been sensible, had a job to give it a good clean, ended up wrestling it around in the bath (not with me in it :? ) but it was hard to do a brilliant job and has a couple of little splits. Just hate chucking plastic away. They indeed don't last long, tkachev, mine is rusting inside the poles but it was only a tenner & least the metal can go to the scrapmen after. I saw one on wheels the other day - good idea I suppose, not if it's windy like where you are applerose, if not nailed down it would probably go off for walks on its own & end up 3 streets away. I was sorry to read about your ladybird (sniff). Sad to hear the end of any little life however small.
I did ok on my eb*y items thanks but they were not expensive things, & 1 is a friend's. I can see why people don't like using it but it's been useful for me up to a point, & I have done better on some things than a dealer would give you as they want a lot more profit than the fees you pay. What I do like about it is it's made it harder for dodgy dealers to tell people their stuff isn't worth much, which has to be good, now you can sell your own directly to collectors etc instead of having hobson's choice.
Going to sit & look at m*s's sale online this pm, I've been meaning to make an order for the last few days so now I'm glad I didn't as I would have just missed the reductions. Sometimes it pays to procrastinate. Not that they are giving things away.
Glad GD had a nice tea-party barbara, sounds lovely & I hope you got on well at the drs this morning. Kettle on, & best wishes to those currently missing & under the weather, xx.0 -
Hello everyone,
Haven`t read back yet, as I`ve not been home long.
My younger son always said that as soon as he passed his test, he would be home to see me. As it`s only been just over a week, and he lives a good distance away, I didn`t expect it would be anytime soon. Not so. He came and took me back with him, and I`ve had the best time with my granddaughter, who is four months old now. She is absolutely adorable, laughs all the time. As for her daddy, I cried to see how happy she has made him. He is besotted, just like my other son is with his little one. After they left University, they both worked hard with their respective careers, travelled the world and never seemed to want to commit to any of their relationships. That all seemed to change after their dad died, although I don`t know if that was the reason. I just wish he was here to see their happiness.
Now, I`ll have a coffee and read everyone`s comings and goings.....Much love to all......Rosie.x.0
