Yes, Barbara, it is such a relief. I used to do that too, skipping from job to job until I found one I like. As you say, no chance now. It's looking nice and clean in here and the crocuses look lovely on the table. Hope the ice pack is working on your shoulder.

Kath, my sister has the same sort of problem. Her house is always damp and the wallpaper keeps falling off but the council just come and replace a tiny patch of plaster and leave her to repaper then it happens all over again. They really should have tiled your floor when they had finished. Hope all went well today.

    Tea tonight sounds tasty Mig.

It was -1 degree on the way to work today but this afternoon was lovely. The sun was shining and warm, the birds were all singing and lots of spring flowers out. Hope it was the same for everyone. it really cheers you up, doesn't it?

Hello everyone, lots to read today.. just didn't get in earlier, thanks for asking after me barbara, and kath for waving back yesterday.. :)

All the very very best for your appointment next week Kath. Sorry you are having to have antibio's for the urticaria.. never been sure if that is the same as heat rash (nettle rash) etc but it does always sound like heat would make it worse so seems sensible it would be worse in bed when you're warm. Hope it improves soon. Definitely an unwelcome visit from the HA if it's led to badly-planned work.. hope the extra sockets are worth disturbing the plaster for & they make a decent job of putting new on after.

Applerose that's great news for your son especially in these times, I meant to ask how your daughter & son-in-law's plans are going, I assume the move is dependent on any job offer.. hope the time they are taking to decide is a good sign..

No sun here today so hope it's back soon. Don't want any snow thank you.

Barbara I am not guilty of luring Cuddles away  I'm sure she's not far away. Hope your ice treatment is helping - how long has your appetite been not too good for :( hope it picks up. Let us know if there is anything you could fancy in here & we'll get it in.. maybe ginger biscuits..

Saturday tomorrow hope everyone has an ok day, will be around sometime, toady xx

Sunny today it must be our turn. I'm doing ok today, keeping an eye on 'the knee' but it's no worse & feeling 'fair to middling' for me, as they say, thanks. :) May get some things done while its bright. Just looking around at places to pick up discounted stamps, as I see the prices are going up AGAIN end of March.. but the site I use sometimes is down, probably to adjust their own prices in anticipation of people like me wanting pick up a few now ahead of the rise.. 53p it will be 2nd class, shocking price, especially as we have no post offices anyway :x

Doing a bit of browsing/shopping online as well, have you seen anything nice on the shopping channel barbara.. I must also get round to to do something about getting internet on my phone back; seems daft that a cheap & cheerful bit of plastic kit is just as fast as a complex pc - different technology I suppose. Plus little gadgets taking over from big gadgets is the way it's all going.

Hello dachshund and all others present & absent, xx

Love the rabbits Toady. Thanks for asking about my daughter and her husband. He has had another email apologising for keeping him waiting for the decision. My daughter thinks they have probably offered it to someone else and have to wait until he refuses before they can offer it to anyone else. Or they could still be putting a package together re-paying for them to move etc. Stamps going up again? Didn't they go up just before Xmas? Or am I imagining it.

I'm glad the ice is working for you Barbara. I couldn't imagine losing my appetite for more than a day or two. hope yours comes back soon. Bet it was lovely in the garden centre today.

Hope you are having a good weekend Joan.

It was a lovely day again today so all the family met in town so we could get dad out for some fresh air. We spent most of the time in the shops and cafes though.

Hello again Toni. I've just posted in the other thread. I'll join yo for a cuppa and catch-up. Hope you can have a nap, or at least put your feet up, later once you have sorted out the grab bag and Lucy's friend arrives.

The weather is a bit so-so here at the moment. Wondering if I should cycle to my son's later. Only problem is the tyre needs pumping up and I can only half fill it. Wonder if that'll be enough to get me there then my son can fill it for me. It'll only take me about 20 minutes. Hmmmm.

    Hope everyone enjoys today.

Afternoon all. The morning's sun has vanished behind a thick swathe of cloud. Just waiting for the rain to arrive, so will help myself to a big slice of chocolate cake and a latte.

Toni, I love the little smilies you have, especially the one drinking tea.

I too love the white rabbits Toady. Mum always used to grab me by the arm and say "A pinch, a punch, first of the month" with actions. I was an abused child every month.

Barbara, yesterday was such a beautiful day. OH planted some summer flowering bulbs and corms, then planted all the potted plants we'd had for Christmas, into the garden. My contribution was to pass him each bulb or corm to put in the hole - and I swept when he'd finished.

Hospital on Tuesday, 9.45 appointment. Last week was my GP, she put me on flucloxicillin (or have I already told you that?). I know it's too much information, but it's given me the runs  I'm sure this chocolate cake will settle things down.

    Kath xx

    Hello all cafe friends :)

Sorry I've been awol, but it's been one thing after another here. Firstly, on Valentine's day we had an attempted break-in at our home. It was around 2pm and I was at home with our daughter when an intruder tried to force our front door. It was a terrifying experience, but the police were at the scene in less than 5 mins. Can't say much more really, but the man in question (daughter gave a good description of him) hasn't been found. Just so glad our security is tight and he didn't get in  On the same day, I then developed a dental abscess at the site of a tooth that had received a root canal about 18 mths ago. I'm looking like a hamster, but next week am going to have the tooth re-treated. It's a bloomin nuisance to be honest
I guess the only good news is that my foot is now out of plaster and in a moon boot. It seems to have healed quite well - touch wood. I had to smile as my b-i-l sent me a four-leafed clover beautifully mounted - so fingers crossed :)

Hope those who have also been missing are ok and love to all those who have been popping in regularly. Really love all the pics that have been posted :)

Toni, a special ((( ))), for you. I'm so pleased that Lucy is making good progress and is able to spend time at home - it will make such a difference to you all as a family. Try to rest when you can :) MrO sends his best wishes to you and says to 'stay strong'. He's in France at the moment as his little grand-daughter had to have an op - she's fine now :)

    See you all later :)

Hello all :) lovely to see you Lucy :) your smilies are fabulous, so cheery. My crocuses are looking lovely too, little clumps of white ones very pretty among the greenery. Waiting for a nice day this week to put some allium sphaerocephalon in :D (not sure if it's the right time as everywhere seems to say autumn but packet says plant feb-may ) :? .
mW18hx8Jm6p98XoY5-VMhsQ.jpg My knee will be fine thanks :) well it'll be fine 'or else', that's how I look at it  Pusskins is indeed a sweetheart, a lovely nature, typical easygoing tabby.

Hi kath, glad you got some bulbs in too, yesterday was lovely, such a difference to today, I've had the light on since lunchtime, can't see to do a thing. Hope you finish the antibio's soon, nasty old things :( Keep up the chocolate cake.

Barbara I loved my bike too, it's sitting in the garage purely ornamental now lol (not to mention sentimental), I could probably just about ride it but my neck would be the problem as I can't look up or round properly so that's a slight hitch in the cycling department . Shame though, the one sporty thing I loved.

Applerose hope you had a good cycle (if you did decide to go), glad somebody can, have a freewheel for me while you're there. :D Not sure when stamps last went up would've thought it was last april seems to be when they do it, but they were messing around with the parcel sizes & rates again more recently (cos everyone was using couriers for their parcels and left RM like a sinking ship, so that gave them a nasty turn haha, soon changed their tune then).

Glad people liked the rabbits I'm surprised there's not more by today

Hello susiesoo not sure if we've met but hi from me if we haven't :)

Now then, chocolate - I have praline, coffee, and champagne truffles, and lightly salted pistachio, white lemon & poppy seed, and orange and ginger choc (bars) so stuff your faces :D

Catie, hello, how horrible to have an attempted break-in! That's awful, scary that you were there, I suppose it wouldn't be very nice to be out either & find it had happened. Must have shaken you both up. Sorry to hear about your abscess too, oh dear, one (moon-booted) step forward and another one back, hope it gets sorted - glad you are progressing anyway and have made it in :) just a few others to round up now..

I have heard of the emergency tyre air Barbara but thought it was only for car tyres. I'll have a look for some next time I'm in town. Might come in handy. Isn't it lovely getting tired out by the GC? I've been to my son's and the baby was holding my hands while she practised walking round and round. She is crawling a little too now so she has to be watched every minute.

That's what I like to hear Kath, couples sharing the gardening. And yes, I think I have heard that chocolate cake is good for dodgy tums.

Hi Susie. hope you have enjoyed your weekend.

Wow Catie, someone trying to break in in the middle of the day? Yes it must have been terrifying. Have they found any DNA or fingerprints? Hope they catch him soon. And an abscess. Glad your foot is recovering well. I think you've had enough going on. Send my best wishes to Mr O if you contact him. Glad his granddaughter is ok now.

Toady, I like alliums too. I even let my onions flower but prefer the purple ones. I didn't go on my bike in the end. It was very cloudy and there were a few spits and spots of rain and they'd gone out and didn't get back till nearly 5pm so it would be dark when I was coming home. I will have a freewheel for you when I do go on my bike as there is a hill to go down.

    graphics-cycling-239489_zps165ed37e.gif

Thank you for the chocolates. I'll only take the one.

Catie how scary for you and your daughter.. these people think they can just come into your house and take what they want..and no thought has to how shocked it would leave you..I hope they get him..sorry to hear about the tooth..I had the same after a root canal treatment very painful, hope they sought it soon ..thanks goodness you have got rid of the plaster..another step forward..give my love to MrO and and some healing hugs for his GD ((()))
Toady such a shame you cant ride your bike..didnt think my neck would stop me just thinking of these hips..very tricky not being able to look round...I love the allium family, but have not grown them from seed..it will be interesting to see how you get on with them..I love the pic.. :D
Christine hope work goes ok today..I love your pic.. my surgeon said I should be able to get on my bike after I have this other hip done..but like I have just said to Toady my neck wont turn  so thats that..well for now..chocolate cake for a bad tummy..wow..I will have to get some in..does it goes for choccy biscuits :D

oh Catie that was very frightening and upsetting. Luckily you woke up and were able to phone the police.

I have finally managed to get some cream to clear my Sons eczema. It has done a great job but Daughters bowel probs are still causing her great difficulties despite taking bucket loads of movicol. I tried to get her a GP appointment to see if they could help but it is a week before they can see her.

How lovely for Toni to visit. I hope cafe was clean and there was some spare cake!

I also get night sweats now but it must be my age. but i always take a hot water bottle for my aching joints so that probably doesn't help.

Right I'm off for a short rest,
    Take care

Hello all, tis a gloomy Monday here. Having a nice hot coffee to perk me up a bit.

Thank you for the bike pic too applerose, ah happy days :D enjoy that hill, hope it's not too steep for going t'other way. Didn't mean to put a damper on your future bike-riding barbara, it depends how much movement you have got, it might not have to rule you out - with me it's because I can't tip my head up & back that'ss the problem, I always rode with my seat quite high so I was already looking down at an angle (if you follow me), so it's quite a long way to then look up properly. Looking round is slightly less of a problem because at least you can turn your shoulders & body, depends as I say how much you can turn & if you feel safe I suppose. If I got used to riding in a different way/different bike maybe it would be possible, I just probably wouldn't feel happy having to adapt but that's more about attitude!

I am only growing the alliums from bulbs, I didn't say that sorry. Anything that's tricky to grow from seed I would probably play safe & buy as a bulb or plant, some things I've gone 50/50, eg I bought some heuchera plug plants & some seeds to try. Thanks for the forum reminder I thought it was the 3rd & 4th.

Hi tkachev, sorry you've had problems & hope you can get some help when you do get to see the GP - if you've found something to work for your son's eczema that's good :) hope it keeps working. Hope you have a nice rest. I take a hot water bottle to bed in fact I go round the house with one half the time which is daft but I seem to prefer that than putting a jumper on.

Sorry I managed to skate over Catie's mention of Mr O somehow, hope things are still well with his family & he's doing ok.

Raining now as well, lovely. Will pop in last thing with a suitable message to last over the 2 days down time.. xx
