kath so sorry to read you have lost your friend. such a horrible disease and taking far too many people.

Bubbles I'm sorry to read that your mum has had a heart attack and hope she will recover.

Very hot, still coughing terribly and popped my jaw/ear with all the coughing. just sent my son off for another exam. he seemed to revise for this one for a change.

love that you caught the mouse in your own contraption toady and were able to release him unharmed,

Marrianne, it is annoying when you keep a nice garden and your neighbours don't bother to even keep it tidy. I do tend to let my back garden get a bit wild but keep the front garden tidy. I do like to let nature do it's bit but I will cut things back once a year.

Barbara, yes Tony stayed in rather a nice area right next to the river. They have rowing and dragon boat clubs and it's where our Olympians do their water sports training. That was nice of your neighbours doing some sausages for you too. Hope your cough clears off quickly. The pictures of your garden looks lovely. I do like your buddhas.

Elizabeth, that sounds painful. Hope it isn't and hope your cough clears off soon too. Hope your son's exams are going well.

Hope you are all doing ok Joan.

We've had another hot and sunny day. I took my lunch out to sit in the garden at work. Not something I have ever done before. I heard my boss's wife shouting for me to ask if I wanted a cuppa. I went in to say yes please and I think I gave her quite a shock. She said seeing me in the garden was unexpected. She didn't mind. Just never seen me sitting out there before. We're expecting heavy showers tomorrow.

Thank you for all your kind words of support, they are appreciated greatly.

I rang the ward this morning and mum had had a bad episode in the night, x ray showing a lot of fluid congested on her lungs, which was making breathing very difficult. Lots of medical intervention and IV drugs to shift the fluid. She was better than we expected today, quite bright and chatting, had eaten some lunch, was drinking ok, so, holding her own at the moment.

The buddha looks lovely, now, lots of tummy rubbing, to bring in prosperity and knowledge.

Summer and bad tempered, I am crammed, like a box of wasps as soon as the weather heats up, I go into meltdown, just cannot keep cool unless I am in somewhere air conditioned, like the car. Makes my OA at least 20% more painful, autumn, winter, early spring are fine, summer, me no like at all. Think some of it is to do with the mountain of drugs. I am drenched, just sitting here with the fan on and typing a little.

Wishing everyone well, as always and take great care. xxxxxx Bubbles

Good evening.. sorry I haven't caught up, I seem to have been busy getting very little done.

So sorry to hear about your friend Kath :( . Thoughts will be with you even if you are not posting. Thank you for posting your poem it does convey a lovely sense of peace along with the sad theme. All the best. x

Sorry also to read your mother has had a setback, bubbles, especially as they were starting to talk of discharging her. I have just seen your new post & pleased at least to hear she has had a better day after the difficult night. Continued good wishes for her & yourselves. The heat must be very trying for you under the circumstances, I can take the heat up to a point but I can quite imagine how miserable it is if it doesn't suit you.

Thank you for the tea earlier barbara, I was glad of it. Your garden is very, very nice, I like it a lot. The 'trailing' effect of that acer is lovely. You have made me have a think there.. hmm.. goes to look at plant info.. and I love the way you have 'framed' that 2nd pic. Glad to hear your MRI appt has come through, & that your GD got on well. :)

Marrianne I have had 2 mouses since  1 alive, 1 sadly not. The one that got away scuttled behind the fridge & I left it to make its own way out which I'm presuming it did. I'll never get used to it either, & it's not even my cat.. which would be different, not better obviously, but different.. anyway I can't turn a deaf ear because of that, if I can get something off him alive I feel I must. Thanks everyone for cheering the original mousie on to freedom :) I haven't turned the cupboard out yet, I've had a look and there was chewing up of things going on. :? I hope you got on well at hospital today. I didn't see the Dylan Thomas programme, I expect it was well done, if sad to watch.. I do like his writing but used to read a lot more than now..

Applerose what a shame about your parcel, so disappointing when you think you may have won something nice. A pack of wraps & 2 buns is not pushing the boat out exactly, wouldn't a little voucher have been more sensible?! Winning the gas barbeque so you must have some luck with prizes, so maybe it's your turn for something else soon (if you enter things; I mean to, & don't get round to it). You gave your boss's wife a turn today then  Pity not to sit in the garden when it's nice.

TK hope the coughing is lessening. Horrible to feel poorly in the heat. Hope your son got on well. I certainly don't want any rats  doubt I'm in the right area but then again you never know maybe I just don't see them.

Hello joan and hope you'll have a more comfortable time as it's supposed to be going to be cooler. Wasn't as hot as yesterday here so gardening was nicer.

Glad you liked the film mig but they are often too loud and you are right, a volume switch would be ideal, it's what used to put me off going. These days you'd think they could do something along those lines..

Should get myself off to bed before it's hardly worth it.. have to get up to put a parcel out for collection, but started fiddling with the f*ref*x update & changing bits I don't like  if I'm here much longer I may as well start off the breakfast coffee. :)

By the way everyone that has said that they are bad-tempered these days, ooh me too, I even tell myself to shut up when I sneeze or if I drop something/ make a noise.

Christine..bet it was lovely sat in the garden ..you deserve it and it was nice of your boss to make you a cuppa...think if ti had been me I would have fell asleep... you should have pretended ... :)
bubbles I am sorry your mum has gone worse in the night ...bless our parents worry about us then its our turn..my late mum used to say life goes in a circle..hope today is a better one all round

Hello joan, having an ok day here so far thank you, just had some shopping delivered & thinking what to do next. It's looking a bit overcast & rainy here. Will have to get on with some indoor jobs. Have been trying to find some carpet for the spare room as the one I liked from some samples I sent for has sold out. My fault as I did leave it a while but all the others they had at the time are still available, isn't it typical. Hope you are doing well today too. :)

Sorry your son hasn't heard anything barbara. I slept ok thanks though there was another live mouse incident after I posted. That's 3 that have survived, maybe Tiddles is getting to learn that that is how I prefer them. Let's hope. Plenty of things to go with a tea or coffee, shortbread, pastries, muffins.. will have a sit and then stir myself to some 'work'.

Hope TK, Kath, bubbles are coping.. and marrianne is alright.. hello anyone else that may call in. x

Toady more mice ..we have been quiet for a couple of nights..I remember when we moved in this house it is pre war and the lady that had it let the mice run riot they were in the drawers and one cheeky thing used to come downstairs at the same time every night and go behind the fire..must say the electronic things seem to stop the breeding at least..
Glad you got some sleep...shell we have a no job week..mind you I will know no different..
Been to Al**and got some fruit and veg...and a bird feeder to keep the pidgeons from taking the lot..

Bubbles, sorry your mum has had another turn. Hopefully, she is now on the mend.

Toady, you were up late. I sometimes do that, lose track of time while I'm on the laptop and end up going to bed very late. Hope you manage to find some carpet you like.

Barbara, I did think of lying on one of the loungers but didn't dare or I would have fallen asleep. A no job week sounds very good to me.

Joan, hope you had a good day today.

The weather girl has been telling us that we will get heavy showers for a few days now. They still haven't arrived. Now they're saying it will be Friday. My feet and hands are giving me gyp and my shoulder is joining in now so I'm off to bed with some painkillers. Have a good day tomorrow everyone.

I'm feeling rather proud at the moment. The date for Sandra's funeral has been arranged. The Valentines come from all over the country - with one in France, so only one will attend and be our representative. But Sandra's daughter Amy is using one of my poems in the order of service. :) Instead of flowers, the family want us to donate to Marie Curie Cancer Care. Lovely idea. So now we are beginning to feel a bit better about things.

Bumper pack through the post this morning. My Arthritis Care magazine and my NRAS membership welcome pack. So that's MY evening sorted.

Barbara, I love your little buddas. I hope they bring you peace and happiness.

Mig, thank you for your thoughtfulness .

Bubbles, sorry to hear about your mum, hope she is recovering.

Sending hugs to everyone, sorry for missing some names off.

Hope all are enjoying the lovely weather. I think I'll just have some orange juice today and will take it over to the window and enjoy the view.

Yes Mig, I'm sure the ironing will wait for another time. Lovely day here again too.

Glad you are feeling a bit better Kath. How lovely that they will use your poem.

Barbara, ha ha that would be the day, my boss doing cleaning? Hope your chest eases by tomorrow. It's all still a worry for your son but I'm sure all will be well in the end.

My boss's mum came to pick me up today and took me to her house. When we got there, she said all she wanted me to do was mop the kitchen and hall floors. About 20 minutes work. Then she drove me home. :o So I managed to get a bit of weeding done around my pond.

Evening.. indeed a very nice day, & staying so light now.. so much that I didn't realise how late it had got in the garden, just going by that. Missed ordering anything from the milkman, & haven't had tea/dinner as such so better rustle something up. Did some weeding and put a few more things in, bulbs etc. Glad you got some weeding done as a consequence of light duties at your boss's mother's, applerose. :) Especially as the weather is on the turn, supposedly. Hope the joints that were playing you up yesterday eased off a bit today.

Kath I'm glad you are finding some positive thoughts from the arrangements being made in memory of your friend & the wish for donations. How lovely that they are using your poem, that's so nice. Hope you had a nice quiet time contemplating the view from your window, & have been able to get on with attending to your NRAS material.

Barbara the brazen little mousie coming down every night like clockwork to go behind the fire  ..it conjured up a picture that they were pre-war mice, that came with the house, & dated back to the blackout. Perhaps behind the fire & inside the drawers would be like their Anderson shelters (ok, that's a little fanciful!) ..shouldn't want to come across one suddenly inside furniture, that would be a step too far! Hope you hear some news soon about your son, it's best that they think everything through absolutely thoroughly. I haven't come across a 'new' choc finger.. but if there are any I will have one with you over a cuppa tomorrow. xx Joking aside a no-job week is a good idea; I often forget that though I'm doing comparatively little, & don't have a normal 'work & evenings/weekends' routine to go by, because of that, I don't actually take 'time off' either - I just keep going. So I really should have the RA equivalent of a holiday every now & then, & make myself switch off. Good thought.

I finally figured out the browser tweak that I was fiddling with last night, which is very satisfying.

Hope joan is well as she hasn't been in the cafe today, has been into town instead maybe. All the best to marrianne, bubbles & anyone passing. xx

I've got behind with posts again.

Bubbles I'm glad your Mum was in hospital when she had all this fluid as it must have been frightening for her and she's going to be frail after the heart attack. Very nice to hear she has a bit of colour and is eating.

I am still coughing 2 weeks now, I caught it off my Son Toady but his only lasted a day. I'm just resting a lot in order to keep my strength for when needed like half term coming up.Sorry but I'm selfishly hoping for rain next week as every time the sun comes out the neighbours blast out the music and like Bubbles very hot weather makes my pain worse.

Kath our friend asked for donations to Marie Curie too. Funeral is taking place Tuesday but only OH will attend as it is half term.

I'm sorry your Son is still waiting for the op Barbara.

Toni has been quiet but It has been so sad losing yet another patient on the ward. It must be so sad when you get so close to the families.

I must pop off for a sleep. I only meant to pop o here quickly. Will have a spot of luch first.

Applerose, Joan take care too. Mig enjoy your cruise.

Toady, I still go to bed at the same time but am waking up way too early because of the light. Glad you got your browser tweak sorted out.

Barbara, how awful having the ceiling fall down. It must have made quite a mess. I was reading somewhere about those plants that have tomatoes and potatoes. They are from the same plant family but it does seem strange having them all on one plant.

Elizabeth, still coughing? It can't last much longer I hope. Glad you are managing to get some rest and that half term is easy for you.

Joan hope the thrush clears up soon and it's not too painful for you.

Rain here again today. My boss's dad put up a nesting box with a camera in it a couple of year ago. I've been watching over the last few weeks. Some blue tits have nested. At first, all I saw was one bird sitting in the nest very still. Another time, there were no birds but 7 eggs (7 eggs from that tiny bird  ) Last week, she kept getting up and sticking her head under her then settling again then putting her head underneath her again. Yesterday, my boss's mum told me the eggs had hatched later that day. I saw the chicks yesterday. Just looked like one big fluffy ball but there are 6 of them. 1 egg still left. The male bird kept appearing with food for them all then the female would sit on top of them. Apparently, only 1 survived last year.
