Hello everyone, hope things aren't too bad for any of you today.
Well, I've seen my GP and I have a sinus infection,so taking a week's course of Doxycycline. GP couldn't see my eardrum in my right ear as there was so much wax in there - no wonder I've gone deaf!! I've made an appointment with the practice nurse to have the wax removed, and do my blood test next week.
I bought two pairs of fleecy, warm trousers from A**a, and a fleecy, warm top. Just the thing for midwinter. Should keep me warm as toast lounging around the house in the cold weather. Although we have double glazing and PVC doors/windows, we also have subsidence so everything has slipped out of kilter, causing the house to be very draughty!! There's a gap down the back door - which opens into our living room - that gets wider the nearer it gets to the bottom, if you get my drift. We do use a draught excluder across the bottom to try and stop it. Social Housing - Harrumph!!!!! :x
A nice hot cuppa and toasted muffin is called for I think."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Joan, hope you and Sue are doing ok this week.
Elizabeth, I like a good Xmas tree too. I always used to have a real one but they are pricey now. Not sure where I stand with cutting down real trees versus throwing out artificial ones once they don't look so good. I think I'd be tempted to buy a Barbie too but, as you say, no point if it's not played with. Enjoy your me time while you get your hair coloured. Lucky D. I'm sure she'll enjoy it.
Barbara, maybe put your laptop on the floor and jump up and down on it a few times.Yes, the town council are certainly making up for last year. Our own town tree was unwrapped today. Have only seen a picture but that looks good too. Might go and see them both tomorrow. It does help when you get the first few presents, doesn't it? That was good getting the sweets with money off and free delivery. Might have a look at their website as I do usually get a few things from there.
Kath, hopefully the infection will start to clear quickly. I often get wax build-up but they won't remove it for me. I have to use oil to soften it and let it make it's own way out. I use the oil for a couple of nights every few weeks anyway to try to prevent it building up. Your fleecy clothes do sound warm. My parents' front door developed several gaps all the way from the top to the bottom. They put a curtain up which helped a little. Theirs was socail housing but they couldn't get a new door.
Called in to T*sc* today and they have a lot more gluten-free food. I bought apple pies, mince pies, Xmas cake, Xmas pudding and hot cross buns (thought they were for Easter :? but tasty anyway). Lots of biscuits too but I'm not a biscuit person. And they were buy 2, get 1 free.Well I bathed the dog last week because he smelled very doggy. A few days later, I could smell him again so bought some doggy fabreeze which worked quite well but he is now lying asleep next to me smelling both doggy and dog foody. Pass the fabreze.

Hello all, just a little call and thank you for your good wishes.. *sniff*.. (someone's feeling weak & emotional, do excuse..)
Things not too bad but I can tell I'm not really 'right', you know what I mean. I don't have to go back any sooner than usual TK, partly dependent on next bloods, I expect I'm on the 'may call & need to be seen earlier' list. However as I had a depomedrone shot which they are hoping will kick me back into line (but knowing me I doubt), my next bloods will probably not tell anyone much. No idea why things have gone wrong anyway when I was doing ok. Flare-up over Christmas, would be just my style.
Anyway.. glad to see you all.. hope not too many problems and that TK's cough clears up soon now (sorry about the funeral & hope it goes as well as possible), and Kath's sinuses respond to treatment quickly too. Sorry the itching is hovering about though.Best wishes to joan & sue coping with the plaster and all the visits.
TK's hair is looking very niceand barbara is going to paint us a picture for the cafe, how nice. Look forward to it. Hello mig - have a lovely unofficial birthday.
Sorry if I've missed anyone.
I am going to have a mince pie too if there are any.. it's nice and warm in my corner, I think it may be because Kath is still sitting nearby in her fleecy clothing and emanating lots of warmth.I will also try and lure Cuddles my way, or failing that, maybe I could borrow Mango* for a little while.
I am having a charity van round tomorrow to hopefully take a chest of drawers away, hope they think it's good enough, I have given it a good polish (which is more than it's ever had before). Has been so dull the last few days so hoping for a ray of sun soon, and for you all, toady xxx
* after his next bath maybe, applerose (hello to you),nice clean kitties win out over doggies there, don't they, no contest.

Passes tissue to Toady. No, don't have a flare up for Xmas. It's not allowed.
You are welcome to borrow Mango for a while. He is a bit pongy at the moment though. And his tummy has just started making noises. Hope he's not going to be ill. He's not allowed leftovers but I gave him a little skin off some duck I had for tea. :?
Christine0 -
Morning all
Kath I'm glad to see you have all your fleeces ready there are some brilliant lounging cloths..our house is the same its very old and very draughty.. I hope the sinus infections clears up very soon for you..
Toady..its not like you to say things aren't right..and feeling weal and such..so here's an hugs..(()) I am sure mango will help ...I hope the shot brings you some relief very soon and when you feel like it lets us know how you are ..and hopefully the charity came and took the drawers..we had then refused a dresser one year so had to break it up..it was such a shame..I am sure someone would be pleased to have them.. :?
Christine..I would jump on this laptop if I could jump..it will be nice for you to see the trees and lights when they are ready..poor mango and his tummy ..hope hes ok for your sake..
I love the doggy fabreze..
they do smell especially when wet..

No one will be allowed to be unwell over xmas and new year if needs be i will get the cauldron out and make an emergency potion. That means you Toady,Kath no more itching ,i have to have my right ear done next week .Any one else who is as Toady says "not right "i send mega hugs (((())))
Its spag bol and garlic bread with a side salad for tea ,its only a pasta sauce but its tasty.
Oh is off to the chiropodist in a little while so i will have a couple hours to myself yipee.
Middle son phoned up to ask if we would like to go to Chatsworth house on sunday its the last day of their xmas fair so we are looking forward to it as we haven't been before.Mig0 -
Toady, I'd come over and give you a big warm hug, but with your bad cold and my snotty nose, we wouldn't do each other any good.
You borrow Mango or Cuddles and I'll see if I can borrow next door's dog - he's huge and cuddly. We went out to clear some leaves up this morning. He just sat there watching us and never made a sound. That is until a flock of starlings came down to feed - he gave a bark and they all flew off.
So he is now our official starling scarer. Hope he doesn't frighten any smaller birds off though. :?
Mig, you can make me as many potions and lotions as you like, and I'll also have some garlic bread and spag bol with salad. Yummy. Notice that not being well hasn't affected my appetite.
Seeing rheumy nurse on 8th December, so will see what she says when I tell her about the itching.
christine, I'm smiling at your (as I read it) 'glutton free food'! Must get my eyes tested. 8)
Well I hope all of us who are feeling off colour soon start to feel better in time for Christmas.
Hope Joan and Sue are both ok, and anyone else I've missed."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

The cold is slowly on the mend but not quite there yet.
Toady I know what you mean about not feeling right. Its hard to explain to people but the bloods have shown you know your body best. I always get reverse results; I think I'm doing well and blood shows otherwise or vice versa!
Off to finish hair in a minute, I'm going for a warm red brown as my skin is sallow and cannot take blonde anymore. Had to pop in to Son's school for a review; 6th form is proving to be very hard work for him and he may have to drop one of the 4 choices in order to concentrate on the other 3.
So just time to hide a Christmas present I bought today before D. is home.
Will pop in again later for a chat and who mentioned mince pies and cream Barbara?Never be bullied into silence.

Well Lucy likes it but I'm not so sure. I really wanted it all over but its in thin stripes so next to my mid brown hair doesn't quite sit right. At least the grey has gone.
Not too long to see the rheummy Kath. I think you'd better make a list so you don't forget to ask about anything. My OH needs to go and sort out his ears but doesn't bother with the GP.
The gaps in the doors must be horrible, especially with winter on the way. We have one bathroom window that we think somebody tried to break in when the extension was being built and so it lets in noise and cold. I need to seal it up with cardboard really. Better put it on my list of to do's.
Hope you enjoyed your couple of 'free' hours Mig. It is nice to have time to yourself.
Christine I'm hoping Mango is okay with his tummy rumbles. You don't want to be clearing up after him! Maybe he's a bit anxious about all the changes.
Can't say I'm a biscuit person either Christine but I love my cakes.
I'm sure the drawers were welcome Toady. You see people with the bare minimum nowadays. Don't think we will see much sunshine for awhile but you do get those beautiful winter blue skies.
Barbara time for a new laptop. Are you dropping hints?
Nice to see you Joan and hopefully all is well with Sue and the carers are doing a good job and not annoying you.
Will hope Toni's Lucy is back on the mend after her setback and the fund raising is going well,

Barbara, it seems strange to me that charities won't take some things. Health and safety I guess. My brother has just finished breaking up our dad's furniture because they wouldn't take it. All ended up in the tip. Mango was ok fortunately. I looked after him for a year a few years ago and enjoyed having him. It did seem a bit quiet after he went back home.
Mig, that's good to know that we can rely on you for a potion to keep us well over Xmas. Hope you enjoyed your free time. I think it will be lovely at Chatsworth at the moment.
Kath, I have no chance of birds in the garden when Mango's around. He chases anything that moves. Glutton free? Does that mean we can eat as much as we want?
Elizabeth, warm red brown sounds lovely and rich. If your son does have to drop a subject, I'm sure he'll do much better at the others. I remember hiding presents from the kids. Mango was fine. No mess. I like my cakes too but don't think too much about them now I can't eat them. The gluten free are too expensive and don't taste too good.
Good evening Joan. Hope you and Sue have had a good day.
I went in to town today and stood under the 50 foot tree. It is big. They were just on with putting the lights on it. I also saw the giant xmas bauble. It was fenced off for now. The giant Rudolph looks great and they have put in place about 30 small cabins where they will be selling Xmas goodies from next weekend, I think.Christine0 -

Christine I am getting all excited for with the 50ft tree..bet it looks lovely lit up..and the little cabins will be nice..I am contemplating going to the Christmas market in Manchester..trouble is crowds dont go well with crutches... but will give it ago..there is plenty of seating..its such a shame having to break up furniture I am sure someone would be glad of it...but you cant be stuck with it..
Elizabeth wish we could see a pic of your hair..red..goes well over blonde..sort of lowlites and highlites..I am hoping to be able to wrap the presents I have then no one sees them..mind you not much chance My eldest GD and her friend are coming for the weekend..she is still waiting to hear about an apprenticeship and had applied for quite a few..
Kath the doggy sounds lovely for a cuddle..hope the itching hasn't been to bad for you..
Think we might be off out today...we have a shop not far away and they sells oils and water colours and brushes very cheap ..you never no I might be the next LoweryI dont think

Hello everyone who's here, just popped in to say hello and wish you all a good weekend. I've just watched a yukky video of a doctor removing ear wax from someone's ear, it was on Y**tube. Hope mine doesn't have that much in it. Sorry if you were eating when you read this.

I hope Toady's is managing too.
Lovely to read that Sue's carers are good Joan and that you are still getting out and about.
I just cannot get my hair to sit right (although the colour has grown on me) whereas my hairdresser makes it look lovely. I had to go to the funeral yesterday and wanted to look presentable but it was a battle. I met up with friends beforehand for tea, sarnies and scones and then we went to say our goodbyes. I am feeling shell shocked.
How long is the visitor staying Barbara? Or is she going to your GD's house. I hope she hears about an apprenticeship soon. My son is finding school 6th form very hard work and has been advised to drop one of his 4 subjects which I think is a good idea.
Toni I'm glad Lucy is now a bit better and has been allowed home and she has the new bed. I bought my Son a double and yes it oes fill the room but as I have to stay with him until he sleeps I can lie next to him ad read a book and then when I leave him he has more space, cos he is taller than me now!
Kath how long before you get your ears looked at? The only thing that puts me off my lunch is that programme hoarders!
Christine have you heard from your family in Australia? Are they enjoying themselves?
Okay I have not had a tea for a good few hours so I'll put the kettle on now.

Hello Barbara, Toady, Toni, Elizabeth and whoever else is lurking.
Guess what, THE LAMP ON THE CAR PARK IS WORKING!!! Fantastic.
Elizabeth, I get my ears done on Wednesday at 9am, as well as a blood test - not related in any way.
Barbara - urgh, I shall have nightmares now about having maggots in my ears. I know mum used to say (when my ears needed washing) "you could grow spuds in there".
Toni, yep, I was a good Girl Guide, always prepared - well almost always.
I thought I'd better bring in some washing up liquid, disinfectant and J-cloths. Sorry about the mess in here, but Toni, you clean it so well.I don't know about Barbara's standards, but you certainly surpass mine. :?

Joan, I'm glad you and Sue are able to get out.
Barbara, I bet the market in Manchester will be a good one. Worth going if you can have plenty of stops when you need them. I never wrap presents till the last minute as I forget what's in them and end up buying too much. Hope your GD finds out about an apprenticeship soon. It is scary when you hear of an escape. You never know where they'll be. Glad they caught them quickly.
Oooh Mig, I lorrrrrve cherry scones. A few years ago, a cafe was serving cherry and spice scones for Xmas. They were to die for.
Kath, it does sound a bit yuk but it's good to know someone is able to do it. I used to have it done but they don't do it here any more. Yay, the light is fixed. It is needed at this time of year when it gets dark so early.
Toni, it's always nice getting a new bed and a nice big one. Hope it's lovely and comfy. Sorry for all the crumby mess. It was Mig and her neighbour's fault for the lovely tasty scones.
Elizabeth, your hair sounds lovely. I sometimes can't get mine to look the same as the hairdresser does. I'm not surprised you are feeling shocked. Funerals are always difficult. My daughter phoned me a couple of days ago to let me know they had arrived. They have now started house hunting. It's a bit strange talking to them while they are about to have their evening meal and I am having breakfast.
Mango has started his usual evening routine and is barking and growling at me to play ball with him. It's the same every evening around 8pm. Daft half hour my mam used to call it whenever the dogs or kids went a bit crazy in the evening. I went in to the loft this morning to get my hats and scarves out and ended up bringing the Xmas decorations down. My son phoned while I was doing it and said they were all going in to town so I left everything lying about and dashed out to catch the train to meet up with them. My GD picked out some clothes she wanted so I bought her them for Xmas and brought them back to my house. My GS wants the X-Box 1 and has been saving like crazy towards it so all he wants for Xmas is money. I'm looking for a kitchen for the baby but they are all very expensive or very flimsy. She loves Peppa Pig but the kitchen looks as if it'll fall to bits.Christine0 -
hi everyone, x0
-
Hello all, just popping in to see if there are any scones left.
(Not sure about out the other side barbara, but I'm no worse - whatever that indicates, given the steroid 'leg-up' :? - and doing some enforced bits of rest. Ugh). Horrible dull day out there again, and deadly deadly quiet, one of those where you feel the rest of the planet could have disappeared and you hadn't noticed. Or is that me becoming delirious.
Nice to see coco, frog and the 'regulars'. Hope everyone's xmas shopping is going ok. Good luck finding a sturdy kitchen applerose, some of these things cost more than you'd spend on yourself don't they, 'toy' this and that. Hope the market not too busy if barbara can get there. Hope the painting is going well too, did you get some supplies on Thurs? I have no real yearning to paint but I DO like all the lovely equipment, same with a lot of things.
Well my furniture was turned down :? not entirely surprised, as I had my doubts.. and when barbara said what she did too.. and sure enough, 'too dated and (read between the lines) tatty'. Spect the little lad they sent thought much the same about me. Don't blame them of course, they know what they can sell, but now I have a lumping great chest in the hall which I won't have the heart to take back upstairs so will have to shift somehow.. eb*y at 99p I suppose.
Hope son gets on better with dropping a subject, TK. It can make all the difference. I moved schools in my final year of 'O' levels and had to drop a subject (different curriculum), and it was a huge huge help. Hope you can get your hair to behave. :? Oh to have naturally manageable hair.
Kath has illumination!Jolly good. Yes it's getting darker but in 4 weeks-ish it'll be the shortest day, let's all think about that. Good luck with next weeks appts.
Best to joan and sue and hope I haven't missed any vital news, will be in & out hopefully.. love to all.. toady. xx0 -
an X box will cost a lot Applerose! I've just been reading about the consoles trying to find games for the kids, if i see any bargain x.box deals I will let you know. I've seen wooden kitchens for children, like little playhouses, is that what you are looking for?
glad to read your lamp is working again Kath. last night we had a power cut very briefly and it frightened Lucy. Think I'd better buy some new batteries for the torches incase. They the powers that be) say there maybe shortages ahead
Enforced rest is okay but gets tedious after awhile! Fancy turning down your furniture and now it is in the way. We put an old wash machine in the garden and within the hour it had gone!
Hello coco, hope you are well and Daughter is enjoying uni.
I thought you were going to say Mango ate the Christine Decorations while you were out shopping Christine!
I am shattered so going to sleep in a mo. I finished my book last night so starting on another. I've got a backlog of about 4 from my birthday still to read. Had a hot choccy and my blood pressure pills and take-away pizza for all so no cooking.
Have a lovely weekend. Toni put your feet up, No Barbara today hope she is having a good weekend too,
