Banana cake i made from scratch this morning.0 -
Ooh, a slice for me please, with a bit of butter if that's allowed!
I am writing Easter letters, enough said I think. Woe, woe is me. Someone take pity me and put the kettle on...!0 -
i love banana cake!
It is so cold here but I'm sitting in the coldest part of the house, the kitchen, my son's room is always boiling due to his computer being on all day!
It is OH's birthday and we are hoping to have a takeaway but other things keep cropping up. Lucy is on a curtain hunt, OH does not like spending money, so there is a bit of friction going on there.
We took some boxes out of the attic because I have kept curtains from my previous homes, hoping to pass them on when the kids move on but she didn't see anything suitable. She did find some of my old clothes she liked and I made a box up for Charlie to have a rummage through before passing on to charity.
Police knocked again today about the burglary. They parked up in a merc and broke in through the back door. A neighbour heard the noise and confronted them but they said they were painters. It was all smash and grab so they must keep a lookout for when a property is vacant, which is worrying. I've no idea why they picked on her as she is a new tenant and the house is a bit run down.
Applerose maybe the Yorkshire's were getting near the sell-by-date, making way for fresh stock.
Barbara how awful the carer didn't learn from the first theft. It is such a worry that some carers feel they are entitled to help themselves. Some even give sob stories to borrow money and they are just as bad IMO.
Hi Toady, no further with the decorating then? Not an easy task is it and a little and often is fine.
Is it your first name you dislike? Elizabeth was my middle name as I hated the name my parents chose for me as it was so unusual. I changed by deed poll just to be on the safe side but chose my middle name so as not to upset them too much. I gave my children popular names and one decided to change it to an unusual name. Can't win can you?
Hi Kath it was my fault for losing the post. I should have been more careful.
I'm starting to panic about losing this post now so I'll sign off.
Love to Cate and Joan too, Coco and Bubbles if they pop in. I see Frog is busy, not surprised as fundraiser is getting closer.

Mmmm, banana cake and a large mug of tea. Just the ticket. For some reason I'm having an exceptionally hungry day today. No, seriously, even more than usual. :?
I sent a Jackie Lawson Easter card to my DIL's mum. She always sends us a proper card, but JL do some really nice ones.
Elizabeth, I thought the police turned up in a Merc until you mentioned they broke in through the back door. BTW, when my eldest was at school all her friends called her MAZ! She now insists on everyone using her proper name of Marie-Claire. What is it with my family and hyphens?
Toni, I hope you get your press release done in time.
We got another order ready for Milk and More to deliver tomorrow. We included a bag, a bit like a cool bag, to put outside for him to leave the order in. Only a fiver.
Hope everyone has managed to keep warm today. That wind was FREEZING."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Toni, you must be extremely busy now. Don't worry about us. Just as long as things are going well. Hope Lucy is ok after her chemo.
Barbara, I don't like wallpapering so I only do paint. I have put lining paper on in my bedroom and the dining room with paint on top. Hope you GD is ok after her trip to the dentist. Let's hope the carer doesn't get another carers job. Wonder how much she has got away with.
Mig, could you please make another banana cake? The one you left has all gone. It's looks yummy and I would like a slice with my cuppa.
Toady, hope you got all your Easter letters finished.
Elizabeth, happy birthday to your OH. Hope Lucy manages to get some curtains. I'm sure she needs them to finish off her room. Did you get your takeaway in the end? I wondered if the Yorkshires were about out of date but there were only a couple of packs in the reduced section and no new ones. They had put new products in their place. Just been to check the date and it's July 2016. Guess I can live without them.
Kath, I go through phases of needing to eat. Not sure it is always hunger though. That's a good idea to have a bag to leave the milk etc in, especially for when the weather warms up. Have you heard of Beamish Museum in Durham? Back in January, they asked people to put forward their 1950s houses. They got the public to vote to choose the best one. That is to be replicated at the museum and they are going to change any modernisation so it looks exactly like it did when it was first built.
Had a delivery today of 6 tomato plugs, all different. Must get them planted up tomorrow. It's rained on and off all day but at least the wind has dropped. It howled all night last night.Christine0 -
sorry Kath! When I read it through it again it did look like the police arrived in the Merc and broke in!
I get days when I am more hungry than usual too!
We had the take-away KFC so no cooking. Still got to wash-up though. Curtains, padded seat, curtain pole and a throw all purchased for under £50!!!! So OH is happy.
Oh no Applerose, you'll have to find a new stockist of GF York.puds.
I'm just starting to feel tired even though I've had a quiet day but luckily it almost time for bed. So going to do the final chores, make a hot water bottle and then off to watch TV or read a book.

Elizabeth KFC is good for a change ,hope you had a good sleep..I keep forgetting my hot water bottle, and warm my wheat cushion instead but the heat doesn't last..how awful if the burglary ..its does leave you feeling less safe..
Christine..hope you get the tomato plugs in ..home grown are so much better but mine were to tall for the plastic greenhouse so It put me off...we have started to paint over the wallpaper in the living room much easier than taking it off...but the poor people that get this house :bunnye:
Kath I love the JL cards and sometime just play them to watch...very clever..the bag is a good idea for your milk..our milkman stopped coming up our rd so now its from the supermarket a shame really,I might just look for another one

Hello all.
Whose idea was it to put all these chocolate eggs on? Forum techies, can you make them edible please. :happy-easter:
Oh Joan, thank you for the egg. Slurp. Why is it that Easter egg chocolate always tastes better than normal choccy?
Elizabeth, we've been watching that program about KFC, I've never had one, and after watching the program, I never will!! If the food on display hasn't been sold within 30 minutes, they chuck it away. What a waste :?: :?: :?:
Christine, in my case it isn't always hunger. I'm just greedy. :chocolate-bunny:

Afternoon everyone,
I'm finding all this chocolate talk very tempting. I'm doing the 5 2 diet plan, and have lost quite a bit on it, so haven't bought anything for me. Aren't I good?
My Blue Badge is due for renewal on the 15th of this month, so I filled in the form - more like a book! - and sent off all the documents they asked for three weeks ago. As I hadn't heard anything, I rang this morning. They haven't received anything. Will have to start all over again!! Not very happy.
I'll pop back later, as I need to go to Te*co and get more passport type photos.......avoiding the chocolate aisle like the plague!.....Cate.x0 -

Cate, sorry you haven't heard about your badge, we have to go in person now and be interviewed and have our pic taken there... I hope you get it renewed in time..sorry bet I have made things worse with the diet..every year Iam dieting for summer and then Easter come along.. :chocolate-bunny: you keep up the good work
Hope you all have and anyone's thats missing have a good Easter.. :happy-easter: xxxxxxLove

Cate, what a nuisance for you. Can you deliver it by hand to make sure they get it?
Barbara, it's been raining here too. All day. Haven't feeling too good today, so keeping away from choccy. Methotrexate last night. :x Feeling better now, just had half a pack of ginger biscuits.
Joan, what a pain up the you know where. Cold callers are bad enough during the day, but to call that late. Hope they don't bother you again. :?

Happy Easter folks :happye:
Well now. Apart from the fact that I remembered another card I had to do (just in case 2 friends got talking and one told the other they'd had one from me), apart from I had to trawl through online church newsletters to check no-one I was writing too was dead  (having stupidly stopped having paper copies sent), apart from the only mention of someone's daughter's name being in a letter from 2007 that I couldn't find, and that at one point I slopped tea on myself & keyboard - the Easter post went very well.
Today = reward myself with chocolate & listening to spoti*y & doing nothing much. No eggs though. Someone will pass me a bit I expect.
Oh I did do a bit of mending/making good the plasterwork so I can get on with the painting. Glad you got all the curtains and things TK, £50 is very good for all that.I'll have to put a pole up too sometime when I get one. Never done it before. Oh yes, typical about the names
I don't like either bit of mine really but feel a bit ungrateful saying so. They just don't flow well together; though hardly anyone uses my actual name, just a shortened or a nickname these days. It's 'officials' that jar on me saying it & on post etc.
I've had to google Jackie Lawson, Kath. I don't send many actual cards these days, and Easter is really for churchgoing old family friends. Glad you are getting useful stuff off your doorsetp deliveries. The only thing I find occasionally, is that if there are special offers or temporary things, they don't have them sometimes. Actually must go in myself. Glad you're feeling a bit better after the mtx now. The old 'medicinal' ginger biscuit excuse, eh.
Barbara's hair is looking nice.Going off into little fantasies about Easter eggs are we. Maybe I will pick up some 'leftovers' and for now I am consoling myself with ki*-ka*. Has anyone had a brea***ay lately? Compared to what they used to be like - dreadful!
Hope your GD's brace goes well especially any extractions are straightforward.
Joan has left me an eggthank you joan! Hope you have not had any more cold calls. I have caller display too, like Barbara, and find it such a big help. My phone is upstairs so I usually let the machine take a message then I check if it's anything important.
Cate how annoying the BB people haven't had your stuff! As if doing it once isn't trouble enough. Hope the photos go ok (no smiling I suppose! not that you probably feel like it) - what does that cost these days? Well done with the diet, hope you were not led astray in Tesco. Or by everyone slobbering over chocolate in here, little pigs.
Still chilly here. Hope applerose found a fine few minutes to put the tomato plants in. Glad you have a few days to yourself, hope it brightens if you want to get outside. Feels like a Sunday today, so even allowing for the clocks, I'm still all 'out'. :?
Waves to frog on my way over to Lucy's thread.Have a good weekend everyone.. xxx

Morning all..sunny and cloudy at the same time
Kath hope you feel better after the meds, its not nice knowing they will make you sickly ..I have heard a few say the same and has toady say the tiredness..
Toady..you do make me laugh, eastern_basket: I love reading your post it reminds me of me..its scary when you have to check if people are still with us or not..I was sending a Christmas card to a friend, then had off her daughter saying she died 4 years ago  wish they had told me then :bunnysuit: you carry on chilling out with the ki*ka*..you are right they aren't the same..here you go have one of these :happye: ..
I am a pig when it comes to chocolate..my GD had taken hers home..the baby had clothes and her sister has her egg..so there were 2 left..I took a pic to send to my eldest GD ..bad move..could I have one for my friend that is stopping at her mums..so now I have none..sorry Im rambling a bad night..
I hope Christine is doing ok ..not seen her about for a couple of days..maybe she is tomato planting..
Hope you all get some sunshine..see you later...xxxxxLove

Had a lovely day at my GD's 2nd birthday party yesterday but spent most of last night in the bathroom. I'll check in later when I feel a little better as all the Easter eggs are making me feel a bit queasy. Hope everyone is having a lovely weekend.Christine0

Hello Barbara Kathleen Toady Christine and anyone else who's in.
Happy Easter everyone.

Kath I'm not a fan of take-aways as they are so expensive but OH wanted to eat out but all 5 of us would have cost a fortune. It was £20 a head for Mother's day so in total £100. Out of 10 people, 5 drink alcohol and 5 don't so I don't like splitting the bill 50/50 as it doesn't seem fair to me.
Applerose was it something you ate or too much chocolate that has made you ill? I hope you feel better soon.
Barbara you are too kind giving away all the eggs! Unfortunately Dan helps himself and has eaten more than his share. He likes to melt them on hot water bottles
Toady you are commended for being so thorough and thoughtful for checking through the church magazine!
Yes I have a nick-name too, Sam, and family still call me by my real name. All these names can be so confusing! It helps that I have moved away
I remember breakaways. Are they different now?
keep on with the decorating Toady at least ours is done now. Lucy is very anxious about noise and isn't sleeping well so at least the room feels snug and enclosed now.
Cate I had trouble doing my BB as I filled out the form online yet they wanted documents brought in personally, which of course confused them! I did my photo free with my Son's phone and he helped me post it to the BB office. At least that bit worked.
I didn't get an egg either Toady but I don't really want them as my teeth are sensitive. I've had to stop eating ice cream too!
Lucy is showing promise as an artist, so se suggested we did some drawing together, a little bonding session. We had a lovely time, she did a sign for her room and I drew my birthday roses which are still alive after 4 weeks!
It is very chilly and rainy, typical Easter weather. I will be watching the football, this keeps me ticking over.
Hope Frog is keeping up with everything and Joan is okay. cold calling is a nuisance but they never give in!
All the best, hot coffee and hot cross buns

Joan I always google phone numbers now. just type in what number is this, or who's telephone number is this followed by the number. It is usually PPI or similar.
I do this when I check my phone bill too if it is a number I do not recognise and the call is expensive.

Elizabeth, I remember years ago, going out with all of my OH's family. We used to split the bill equally but we didn't drink but all the others did. One even asked for cigarettes to be put on the bill and she was the only one who smoked. I prefer to pay for my own. Not sure why I was ill. The only thing I can think of is half a packet of liquorice allsorts and half a bar of chocolate. I shouldn't have had that much but didn't expect to be so ill. Thanks, I feel much better now. Your roses have lasted a long time. Lovely to draw them with your daughter.
Barbara, I keep the same hairdo, only changing it if the hairdresser does it differently, not because I asked. I've painted over some of the wallpaper. As you say, much easier. I find that too. I decide to lose some weight and then along comes Xmas or Easter or I need ice cream in the summer.
Joan, thanks for the Easter egg. Hope you got yourselves one each.
Kath, yes it's strange but Easter egg chocolate does taste better than when it's in a bar. So you haven't been well either. Glad you're better now.
Cate, how good are you, not buying yourself an egg and losing weight. Well done. Wonder if your paperwork is lost somewhere on someone's desk. All that paperwork to do again. As if there isn't enough.
Joan, it is terrible when people phone you like that. I have signed up for the Telephone Preference Service and only get the odd call now.
Toady, glad you thought about that last Easter card. Could have been awkward. You fixed plasterwork? I don't do that. Just paint over it.I felt as if it was Sunday too but I've still got 2 days off. Yaaay!
Haven't got my tomato plugs in yet and I've not got some bell peppers too. Had a lovely day at my GD's 2nd birthday. She really enjoyed getting all her presents and running around with them. I got her a big solid plastic wendy house. It was for the garden but is in the play room just now with half her toys in it.
Love the Easter smilies. I'm sure the bunnies weren't there yesterday.
:bunny: :bunnysuit: :bunnye:Christine0 -
HAPPY EASTER everyone
If you can catch one there's an egg each in the basket
Joan - if I knew everyone is safe I think I would NOT get out of bed for the phone!!!!
I heard that BT have a phone which can stop those calls, but you have to pay for the service!!! ::)
I do hope Christine feels much better soon((()))
Elizabeth - I am still manically busy with the 'do' yes. I have two large items to actually receive and when I do I will be posting the auction item list on fbook.
I am glad your Lucy loves her room and is showing some of your artistic flair
Barbara is it me or do you love ALL the new Easter smilies??!!!
This year my girls are having an egg each - they haven't had one for a couple of years!
Paul and I have had NONEHe is on a diet and has lost about one and a half stone so best not to
Oh Toady - that was funny checking no-one has passed on before you do your cards!!!
I have had one or two Jackie Lawson cards (Joan!) and I think they are lovely. Much better for the environment eh?
Poor you KathT. Bloomin MTX doing that! Grrr!!! Gingers biccies are rather nice though
Cate I hope your Blue Badge Application goes smoothly now.
We have to either have higher rate PIP?DLA or apply and have a medical here now.
Love to you all

Hello everyone, hope all are feeling fairly well and enjoying the Easter weekend.
Yes, cold calling is a da*n nuisance. But we had a letter from our housing association last week, apologizing for the fact that they sent out a letter with the dates of our rent free weeks, which were the wrong dates. Dafter still, considering they own our house, although the got our name, street and post code right, they put the wrong town on there. Good job the post code was right, or we wouldn't have got the apology.
I don't understand why MTX is affecting me so badly this time. When I used to take it before I didn't have any with it.. Not only do I feel sick on and off, I still have the sore mouth issues, bowel problems (don't go there) and I keep feeling eyebrow/eyelash hair falling onto my cheeks. I used to have quite thick bushy eyebrows before but now they are quite slender arches. Also, I'm sure my hair is a lot thinner than it was. But that could be compounded by the Anastrazole (anti hormone cancer tablet) which can have the same effect.
Oh well, such is life. I love these Easter chicks.
