Hi everyone,
Christine, I don't like the sound of that guy. That's beyond pushy. I can't believe he would imagine he'd be welcome on a family holiday......after one meeting!!! Please be careful.
Well, where's this warm sunny weather we've been promised? Dull and quite chilly here, although the South seems to be much better......as usual. These weather forecasters couldn't forecast a storm in a teacup.
Barbara, I know it's afternoon, but as you are cooking, can I have a bacon buttie and a builders please. I hope your son's MRI goes well. I hate those things myself.
Elizabeth, what a lovely mum you are, always putting your children's needs first. I know that's what we are supposed to do, but not everyone does. I did too, and now have two lovely, caring men.......who I don't see enough of, but they have lovely families, and good lives and great careers, so job done.
Right Barbara, where's me buttie?.......Cate.x0 -
Hello everybody, goodness, lovely to see you all in here.
Elizabeth, I think the problem with GN and Boat Race being on at the same time now is because the BBC no longer have rights to racing. But it was nice to see the ladies race, even though Cambridge didn't do too well. I prefer the Oxford blue anyway - which shows where my interests lie. The kit and not the sport.
Cate, many thanks for the Thorntons choccy. Only too happy to help you with it - I presume you meant with the eating of it. 8)
Toni, I shared Lucy's photo and details of her illness and treatment with my Valentines group. Had one like already, but most are at work during the day.
Joan, how's your tummy. I hope it's nothing that Sue can get too. :?
In February my chest consultant arranged for me to have a blood test to check my antibodies for Pneumococcus and Haemophilus influenzae, which I assume are Pneumonia and Flu. My antibodies are low, and those for Tetanus. Which is odd, as I had a Pneumovac a few years back and a flu jab every year. Anyway, I have to go to GP surgery next Monday (20th) for jabs, then have another blood test a month later to see how things are.
Christine, what have you done indeed. . Hope you manage to worm your way out of seeing him again. Companionship is one thing, but having someone taking over your life.give me a good book any day.
Now I've scoffed myself silly on cate's chocs, I think I need a lie down. A walk would be better, but beyond me sadly. This is how I fee."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Hello Kathleen Barbara Christine Elizabeth and anyone else I missed.
Christine you take your time with him.
Barbara how is your son.
Elizabeth I hope the spots don't stay too long.
Kathleen I hope your blood test goes well. I had to have one after a month.

Hello all, just to say I'm still here
wouldn't say I'm fizzing with energy but resting up in the hopes of slow improvement from the jab, some things are better (any small bit of joint swelling I had down, sleeping better) but whether that's proof there was much inflammation at work.. dunno. :? Annoyed me they couldn't fit me in for a blood test just before the jab as it would've been useful to compare it with the last one. Sure they could've squeezed me in if they'd wanted.
Anyway I am keeping tabs on everyone, even if not here much (and I will put your ceiling on 'the list' barbara) - have to go to a dentist appt tomorrow so am taking requests for M&S tasties assuming I get that far. Actually the challenge is going to be the buses there & back, will be a right palaver. Horse & cart would be quicker the one way than the current route and that's not even a joke. Glad to see everyone seems not too bad - applerose, run like the wind I would :? hope 'he' is not someone you will have trouble avoiding if needs be (ie he doesn't live round the corner etc) probably harmless but alarm bells go off when people go from 0 to 60 like that. The pity is some people don't see that by coming on strong it has the opposite effect they're aiming for, but what can you do..
Joan, I hope your stomach is feeling more settled.
See you all soon. xx0 -
evening all
Ooh sorry Cate I am slaking..think I need more staff ...do you still want that buttie...bacon is a bit cold..I do love the word buttie we were brought up on them..jam to be precise or sugar not much difference...
Joan he has to wait for the results thankyou..how is your tummy doing
Elizabeth I am sure Dan will get there somehow..maybe the tuition is the way..my son is ok thanks and my GD is still plodding on but no more money. poor Dan with the fugal infection our step GD has had some sort on infection on her face and neck but its not come out has spots ., hope it clears up soon for him
toady..sorry the jab in slow in working ..what a shame but hopefully it is keeping things at bay..ts good of you to put my ceiling on your list ..could you do the door while you are here...or is that cheeky..it would have been good to compare the bloods..and wouldn't have taken them long..hope you carry on sleeping better ..and make sure you get the rest..I have the dentist Wednesday good luck with yours..
It is freezing here..strange weather...hope you all have a good evening I will put the kettle on for Chrsitine...xxxxLove

Barbara, he did say he was lonely but I'm not comfortable with the way he's behaving. How can someone be so clingy after only a couple of hours? :? Yes, farmers' markets are a bit expensive. I guess you're getting everything as fresh as possible and it's supposed to taste better than supermarket food but the pie I had from the new stall wasn't nearly as good as the other one I go to. Don't think I'll use that one again. Hope your son's MRI goes well. It is good he's not in too much pain. Thanks for putting the kettle on for me. I'm ready for a cuppa.
Elizabeth, he is pushy. It feels as if he thinks we are a couple already. Couldn't believe he said he wanted to come with me to Australia. Extra tuition for your son might be the way forward for him. Maybe it will ease him in to work experience and further education. Hope his infection clears up quickly.
Cate, I'm thinking I don't want to see him again. He doesn't know where I live, thank goodness. The sun came out here today but it didn't get very warm.
Kath, I'm not in to sports but I think I'd choose who I want to win by the colour of the kit too.Hope the tests and jabs turn out well for you. I do get the impression that he would take over my life a bit and I don't like that one bit. Doubt I will see him again. Think I'll stick to my book too.
Joan, doubt I'll see him again. Hope you're tummy is feeling much better today.
Toady, glad you are managing to rest. I'm sure they could have fitted you in for a blood test. It only takes a minute. Hope the bus journey isn't as bad as you expect and that the dentist appointment is just a check up. He doesn't know where exactly I live, just the town. He lives about 11 miles away so I shouldn't bump in to him.
Had 2 calls tonight from a company called Locum Clinic (I think). A man the first time then a woman 3/4 hour later. Both from different numbers and both said they could get me compensation for an accident I had in a factory. I've never had an accident or worked in a factory. They both got a bit annoyed when I asked who they were and when I didn't just give them my information. Put the phone down and reported them to the Telephone Preference Service.Christine0 -
Morning all
Christine..we have been inundated with calls lately..I have had a few blocked ,but still we get withheld and always late evening..it can be very hit and miss with farmers markets ..we notice this when we last went..some delicious food though..
its cloudy here this morning..I think Elizabeth is in for the really good weather..
We are off our for some shopping ..then OH is trying to clear the garage again..you never know we might find some treasures..mind you we bought some rubbish when we used to do the auctions and fairs..
Hope toadys dentist appointment goes ok...its mine tomorrow... :roll:Love

christine, you could always point him in the direction of a couple of clubs and encourage him to join. If he has any interests such as art, local history, or even joining a gym, he would find company and keep him at arms length from you. Or am I being horrid? :? :?:

Barbara, I set off out today with a warm rain jacket on and took my scarf just in case. On the way home, I had to carry them and my jumper because it was so warm. It was supposed to be the hottest day so far in the south. Hope your OH got the garage sorted. Hope your dentist appointment goes well tomorrow.
Kath, that's not a bad idea. I got home today with the intention of telling him I didn't think we were compatible. He had left another message saying he feels he needs to get away for a while and would I go on holiday with him. I still told him we weren't compatible. He just replied with 'Ok. I'm sorry it didn't work for us.' At least that's it done now.
Joan, yes, I think you are right. I won't be seeing him again now. it's cold here in the mornings and evenings still but quite warm during the day. You are at the dentist too? That's a few now. Think I'm going next month.Christine0 -
Hi all
well I made it to the dentist, it went ok, thanks
considering I nearly cancelled as it was a bit near the drs appt, I'm glad I got it done all in all. Have to go back (only for what I knew I would need, and nothing worse). The shock of the cost of a coffee & piece of cake in M&* was almost more than the quote for my treatment. Stood and looked at a sliced loaf cake at £2.50 a piece and thought - that works out at about £25-£30 per whole cake. I know you're paying for all the frills but really.. I've never quite totted it up like that before. As for their clothes, I despair how poor they were. Can't think how they can't get their act together. Anyway got a bit of shopping and got back though with more walking than was ideal. Went into TKMa** and could have spent £££s in the housewares dept so it's just as well I didn't have that much on me.
It was really hot, I mean really!
Good luck with your appt tomorrow barbara, and yours joan next week. Glad you are feeling a bit better now.Hi to Kath, mig, Cate & anyone reading.
Going to pack off to bed early & have a quiet day tomorrow. Glad you have sorted your 'situation' applerose, in some ways I think saying something constructive about where a person is going wrong could help them in the long run (being too pushy etc) but very hard to get right in practice I imagine. After all a lot of behaviours are in the eye of the beholder. And easy to cause offence.
Hope TK is ok today as it was humira day yesterday :?
Hoping to get post tomorrow as I'm expecting some little samples (cheapo carpet for spare room). Yes I'm excited about cheap carpet.Sent for some ages ago & they sold the one I liked while I was thinking  every other one, you can still get to this day, and that was ages ago. Typical me.

Morning all cloudy and trying to rain here..
Just back from the dentist, all was well apart from a broken tooth I showed her..it was filled for 30 years and last year the tooth break and she has to drill it out and fill again..the filling is still holding she said I could put a bit of filling were the break is but it would be £50...butt i would probably come off ..she said it a good tooth apart from that..so I am leaving it to see how its goes..
Glad to see that toadys went well..I know what you mean about M&" coffee and cake..my OH always says I could have bought a pair of shoes for that...we have just had a little TKM open nearby I love it..hope the jab is doing its job..
Joan glad to see you are feeling better..and my appointment went well thankyou..look after yourselves...
Christine..the weather is upside down..it suppose to be really warm, but we have a lot of cloud here..glad you have made your mind up about the date...it wasn't sounding good
Kath...how are you doing I hope the itching is staying away...I think that Christine pointing him a another direction is a good idea...
Like toady says hope that Elizabeth is ok after the meds...
Right I am hungry for once..not had any breakfast...so will put the grill on..Love
Barbara0 -
Just called in early for a change for a coffee.. with if still around somewhere.. at cafe prices, thank goodness! Not surprised your OH says that, I'm starting to think in terms of the classic, 'that was an hour's wages when I started work'.
Hope you can decide what's best for the tooth, good that there's nothing else to do.
I'm off to tackle some painting on the 'hair of the dog' (so to speak), ie leftover momentum from being up & doing yesterday, & hang the consequences.
Will move onto your door that needs doing. I still smile about your saying green paint seems to be all there was (going by all our walls were done in it), every time I cover a bit more up.
Just thought that humira is usually fortnightly so if that is how TK's are done it may have been the week off yesterday. Hope she is ok anyway, lots to do thinking about education etc, hard decisions. :?
Keep meaning to say I'm glad to hear applerose's Dad is going on well where he is. Hope the family are getting on not too bad at present.
Was very sad to read this morning of the death of Hayley Okineshttp://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-32174131
Kettle on for anyone calling in. xx0 -
Afternoon everyone. Sunny here, and I took a chance of going out without my hat and gloves on. Thankfully I kept them in my bag because the wind was really cold. So on they went.
Christine, I'm glad he seems to have taken the news so well. Let's hope you hear no more from him. :?
Joan, you are absolutely right about it being chilly in the mornings. But sometimes it warms up so quickly, you can be taken unawares if you overdress. Only this morning it was the other way round.Last night I woke up just after midnight absolutely dripping with sweat. That made my bumps swell up and start to itch, so I pushed the covers off to try and cool down.
Toady, I'm a sucker for freebies. I'm one of those people who wander around the doctor or hospital waiting rooms picking up every leaflet available, even if it's nothing to do with my ailments. But a carpet would be a bonus. I remember when mum would get carpet squares and I would cut them to size to fit in my doll's house.
Barbara, glad your dentist appointment went well. Daren't go to the dentist any more. I haven't looked after my teeth recently. I'll have to start quoting Pam Ayres "Oh I wish I'd looked after me teeth". Even so, although I have a few crowns, most are still my own.
Helping myself to a cuppa and a cheese and onion quiche - my favourite. Followed by a small piece of chocolate. eastern_basket:

Evening all
toady I had a tear in my eyes when I heard about Hayley, she was such a brave young lady, and her eyes just drew you in, I remember her story on the tv when they met people from other countries with the same, she was delighted to meet them all bless her..yes green pain remember it well in this house and the first one we had..hope you finished the painting..I am embarrassed  I have half a door still not done..
I think the tooth will be left unless I have trouble with it..she more or less said it wasn't worth the money fora little but of filling stuck on the side...good luck with the carpet..
Kath..I didnt have a dentist for years m after they all went private..but found this one when I needed a filling and they are very good, I dont have a lot of teeth left ,2 bridges fill the gaps left from the 1960s dentistry  ...its the same here quite cold out..and in come to that..
Just sat looking at the stunning magnolia tree in next doors garden I try and put a pic on...Love

Toady, it's always good to get a dental appointment out of the way. I've never thought of how much a whole cake would be. That's shocking. I did think about telling him where I thought he was going wrong but, as you say, someone else might like it. Nothing wrong with cheap carpet, especially for a spare room. Yes, my dad is fine now, thanks. Not sure how my sisters or brother are. haven't heard from my sisters for a few weeks or my brother for a couple of months now.
Barbara, I think I would wait a while to see how it goes too. I left a broken tooth for about 6 months before I saw the dentist. Didn't bother me at all. Magnolias are lovely aren't they. I was meaning to take a picture of one round the corner but you beat me to it.
Kath, I do that, take my scarf and gloves just in case. I also have my sunglasses. My duvet is on and off all night. I even tried leaving the window open. It helped a little but a blackbird sings at 4.30am, there was a coal delivery at 7am this morning and people round here seem to set off for work between 7 and 7.30 so the window will be shut tonight. Hope things are ok for you tonight. I always thought I'd looked after my teeth, just as well as anyone else but my dentist reckoned I hadn't. I spend about 15 minutes cleaning them morning and night and it's still not enough.
Got all my ironing done. It was mostly summer clothes which I washed last week. Now all I need is some more warn weather. It's my youngest GS's birthday next week so I'm trying to find something for him in Australia. My daughter has told me about a shop near them which sells toys and I can buy online.
My laptop just switched off to do an update. Thought I'd have lost my ppost but it was still there when it came back on. Phew.Christine0 -
Morning all cloudy but sun is peaking through
Christine ..family's eh..has long as you see your dad it doesn't... matter let them get on with it..hee I wish I could get to the bottom of my ironing pile..I keep forgetting that I have put summer clothes in a plastic box under the bed..the magnolias are stunning ...especially with the weather not being to cold..
Went to Ald* yesterday and they have some good gardening stuff in..got a very tall metal flower display thingy..will take a pick when its in the garden...I cant bend...so its something to put flowers on..so might be off to get some plants today...
Not seen anything of bubbles i hope she is doing ok..
See you all later..xxxxLove

I'm awake today so was able to take Lucy for her first ever blood test. The ladies were so nice and kind to her. Not sure what the GP is looking for, I noticed thyroid mentioned on the form but really she keeps getting colds and headaches. she already wears glasses so don't think it is a vision issue.
We have had glorious weather but of course I've been asleep through most of it. Unfortunately our upstairs radiators come on when someone has a shower, even though the heating is turned off . So on hot days it is boiling!
Cate thank you for your kind comments. I get such a lot of flack from everybody, because their needs are great and it is constant full-on. I'm sure your boys are lovely!
Eating cake and drinking coffee out is always expensive Toady. I did actually order myself some T shirts from M&S this week as I have hardly any left now and I'm fed up hunting around for tops to wear. Of course it depends on what they look like on, I might be sending them back!
Yep it was the week off for humira. and I'm positive it is the humira that knocks me out, even throughout the fortnight, but the pain has lessened noticeably particularly in my knees.
Applerose the meds ruin our teeth especially mtx. A dentist should be aware.
Just got to do some bits and bobs and hope to pop back in the cafe soon, or shall I sit in the Sun?
Love to Frog and Joan, Bubbles too if she is reading.

Your not being horrid Kath. It is awful to be lonely but as you say there are clubs and classes to join. Its also good to meet people with shared hobbies, I always found that worked for me.

Hello one and all,
Started off really dull, then the sun came out (just in time for the bin men) now the sky has gone a really funny colour. :? Hope that most are feeling quite well. I won't have any chocolate tonight, just had MTX and I'm feeling a bit queasy already. Can't understand why as I'm on injections. Anyway I'm having a packet of salt free crisps instead.
Joan, is your tummy better now? Hope so. xx
Elizabeth, I'm very lucky in that I never seem to feel lonely. I do enjoy my own company, but I'm the sort of person that if I'm standing at the bus stop or even sitting on the bus, complete strangers come along and tell me their life stories.I've had some very interesting chats with people I've never seen before, nor ever seen again since. Thank you for reminding me that MTX ruins our teeth. That's what I'm going to blame my lack of dental hygiene on in future. I just wave my toothbrush in the direction of my mouth, quick rinse with plain water, then Difflam if I've got soreness in there.
Barbara, Magnolia trees are lovely. There's quite a few around here and it's quite sad when the petals fall.
Christine, oh yes. sunglasses are a must with me. Very dark ones for bright sunny days and slightly lighter ones for dull days. I even wear them in winter as the wind dries my eyes out more and makes them sore.
Those crisps have helped my queasiness, wonder if I dare try a small choccy egg? :easter-egg:"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

I didn't finish my ironing either Barbara. Still got some of my summer clothes to do and will be washing this week's clothes over the weekend so making the pile bigger.
What plants did you get today?
Elizabeth, my upstairs radiators used to come on when I heated the water, so a bit of a problem in summer, but not now I have a new boiler. Glad you are in less pain now. Hope they get to the bottom of what's causing Lucy's colds.
Joan, hope you and Sue are having a good week and you are feeling better.
Kath, I'm feeling a bit queasy this evening. I usually have some supper but doing without. Won't do me any harm though. As I'm having problems with my eyes at the moment, I'm wearing sunglasses most days.
Just been watching another leaders' debate. I think I've almost decided who to vote for. :? Best get to bed now before I end up sleeping downstairs.Christine0 -
It's 6.50 I've been up for an hour ,which is early for me ,but I was in bed and fast asleep by 10 so that's one of those rare things a good nights sleep.
It's quite chilly yet and a bit breezy but it's early yet.
Going shopping later just odds and ends but it will get me out for a while.Mig0 -
Morning all
Mig you was up early...but its good sometimes especially when you have had a good sleep...I just dont sleep not through pain ...just tossing and turning..hope you enjoy your shopping like yous say it gets us out..
Christine sorry you are still struggling with your eyes..there does seem to be quite a few on here with the same..is it the meds or arthritis...I do wounder :? never mind the ironing no one will know..only us lot..I started to watch the debate but ended up going to bed..hope you don't feel has queasy today..
Kath same to you...it not nice feeling sick..I do love the magnolias but like you say they are short lived...a pigeon landed on this one last night and lots of flowers fell off..hope todays a better one
Elizabeth I hope they get to the bottom of what is wrong with Lucy..its always worrying...Im glad to see the humira is working on the pain..suppose you can cope with the side effects if it works...
Joan I can imagine the meds not being good on your teeth..Hopefully the dentist will keep on top of it..how is Sue doing now..
Its cloudy here..and quite chilly but suppose to be warming up...we have book 3 days in Llandudno next week ..might have 4 if the weather is good..hope everyone has a good day...xxxxLove
