Toni, hope Lucy is ok at the moment and not in pain or feeling sick.

The grass is a problem at this time of year Mig. The rain makes it grow but we can't get out to cut it.

Sounds as if you've had a good day Barbara. Hope it doesn't take long to get the answers you want. You're ENT appointment isn't too far away. At least it'll get that over and done with, hopefully.

Hope you enjoyed the gym Joan.

Enjoy your shop tomorrow Kath. Bet you're looking forward to getting out. The oximeter will put your mind at rest. I get a lot of starlings in my garden but nowhere near as many as you. Maybe 20 or so.

So sorry to hear about your friend Elizabeth. You must miss her. Hope you are keeping your chin up. (((hugs)))

I didn't get in yesterday. Well I did but was falling asleep so didn't post. Don't know what was the matter with me. Felt all afternoon as if I was going to fall asleep. I did take am iboprofen at lunch time. Wonder if it was that. :? I bought some fennel from T*sc* today and not sure what I'm going to do with it.

Hello people. Calling in with hugs and tea for Kath and TK (& anyone else that wants them). So sorry to hear about your friend TK. :( Hard to lose such a long-standing friend and someone who has had bad luck (and isn't it always the people you'd especially wish not to.. the good & undeserving.) Hope you're doing ok considering. xxx

Glad to hear Kath is on the mend and hope the little bit of light shopping went ok? The oximeter is a good thing to have. What's your next point of seeing anyone, check-ups etc? Sorry if you've said.

Joan, you and sue do very well to make the effort to go out. I ought to follow your example, even if for a little while. And you get to the gym too which is good. I don't think I've been out since my last bloods, I get caught up with things here indoors but it's not the same as getting fresh air.

Barbara what are the specials :) I had a poached egg & pot of tea but I might have preferred something from the board. Unless poached egg was the special. Hope baby is a little better? Also hope the bloods come back satisfactory and they haven't thought of any more they 'forgot'. Getting on ok with my music player, I haven't tried 'bluetoothing' it with anything though, do you use your GD's with your comp? Or something else. Hope you got into the garden. Last 2 days have been good, have put in some peas & tidied up, & a little bit of fence painted.

Applerose all I know about fennel is it's good for digestion. And it looks 'feathery'. Used to have some growing but never cooked with it. Hope you're less tired today? So glad mango is safe & sound & happy. :) Thanks for letting us know. Yes I guess you could use headphones with the music player but they sell it as a speaker for your mobile etc so probably think you wouldn't want to. Yesterday I kept getting an error that the track I was trying to load onto the card was write-protected, turned out I'd nudged the locking thing on the card - so why didn't it say that? :? Went round in circles working out what was actually wrong. Ooh, a pay rise. :D

Thanks for the cake mig :) and hope all the organised bits of your trips run smoothly. Hope your Sherwood Forest pics all came out well. :)

Cate, how nice that the lady bought your freecycle buggy round. I tend not to look at the things as I know I'd see something I'd like but can't go & collect, I forget that some people might offer to deliver. :) Oh for some transport! Next time you're passing the cream cake counter I wouldn't turn down an eclair.

Nearly there with the carpet I hope :) then it's just a case of trying to slim the stuff that came out by about half as the room looks so nice empty. Sigh, some hope.

Love to all & more tea I think.

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/11601575/Remorseful-thief-leaves-note-apologising-for-stealing-bird-bath.html

Call me gullible, and I know, I know.. it may not be all it sounds and yes it's still theft, but I found it such a sad little tale. Hope it has a happy ending. I know how I'd feel if I lost an item of sentimental value, but then again 'things are things' at the end of the day and people get into some sorry situations for one reason or another. Saying the chap's mother would understand may not be that simple. Too soft..?

Fish and chips and lemon drizzle cake sounds lovely Mig.

Barbara, thanks. I've had quite a good day today. Put on some loud music to disguise the buzzing noise from next door's hot tub when I got home and pottered in the garden for a while. Still got the fennel.

Toady, you've reminded me I have my fence to paint. I tend to just ignore that and concentrate on the plants. Still don't know what to do with the fennel but am thinking of putting one in the garden to grow. Glad your carpet is about sorted. I really should slim down my furniture but can't decide what should go. I'm a bit mixed on that story but I think mainly that the person's mother would understand if he/she couldn't afford a present. My sister lost her daughter at 4 years old 17 years ago. My mum and dad bought a toadstool and a fairy to sit on top in her memory. One day, the fairy went missing. My parents were extremely upset. A few very nice people offered their fairies but it wasn't the same. So you never know what sentimental value people's possessions have.

Well I came to bed to watch Gogglebox but I've already seen it. Think I'll read my book instead.

Joan you are too kind..you never say how things are with you, but then again you just get on with things...
toady..I totally agree that not very nice things seem to happen to good people.. I do connect my old laptop with her the Bluetooth..not sure if the dell has it..we got the music off spotif* I love it .still fascinated with it..and do wounder how on earth it all happens.. the specials board can be anything you like..including sweets for £5...all money goes to charity...my holiday... :o:lol:
Like you I am in two minds about the theft...the lady seems to be so attached to it..but if he or she brought it back I think I would give it to him...I'm a real pushover... :)
Christine..glad you had a good day..must say my hot tub make a awful noise..I WISH... no I would really prefer a swimming pool... :D my door is still not painted..just one side I did.. have you got your rise yet or is it this week.. :D
I have middle GD in bed she went to have the 4 teeth out yesterday for the brace..still cant get over 4 healthy teeth coming out  anyhow one went well but the other was hard work and they had to get another dentist to get it out..so she has to be off school today..in case of bleeding..the poor thing has to go back next week for the other 2... we had a stunning day yesterday and sat in the garden and pottered...but the wind is getting up has I speak..
oh forgot to mention the kettle Christine..apparently the smell is awful, think it was Toni that had one

After the gorgeous weather of yesterday today is back to being very cold.

I finally got my hair cut and dyed, I've not been since November. Lu approved, the OH said it was 'ginger' and too light. i liked it :D

Those were a couple of interesting links posted above by Applerose and Toady.
I read the original Which? article about many customer complaints about a certain kettle brand and passed info on to Toni. I'd be interested to see the outcome of this.

Toady I can see the thief is remorseful and feeling guilty but a note shouldn't absolve him from punishment for stealing. Even though he has promised to replace the bird bath(which I can't see happening) he has taken a much treasured item and should return it immediately. I'm sure his Mother would be horrified if she knew it belonged to someone else, I certainly would be. What was wrong with a bunch of park-picked flowers!

Good luck with trimming down the furniture Toady. Rooms always look lovely uncluttered. Glad the carpet is now down although you said 'nearly there with the carpet' so maybe its not down yet!.

Well it is nice to have plenty of birds but they do mess on my washing, usually on an item that is needed next day,

gosh my laptop shut down due to a scan and the post was still here when it returned!
    Right better post quick

Kath forgive me if I'm speaking out of turn but If you feel breathless, rather than rely on the oxymeter go to your GP or A&E. Its just that there is no subtitute for advice from a trained Dr. I remember offering to buy an asthma machine for my Daughter instead of keep calling out the GP every time she became ill (and it was frequent when she was young) but he said he'd rather see her face-to-face if she was unwell. I think that was great advice!

    Take care

Hello all, hope you are as well as can be.

Feeling rather tired, so definitely up for fish, chips and peas followed by Lemon Drizzle cake. :D

Elizabeth, the oxymeter is just to keep me aware of my oxygen levels. They're normally 95-97% but if the meter shows they are lower than that, it could be a sign of impending infection so sputum sample will go in and medics contacted before I become incapable of doing it. It can be a matter of 10 minutes to change from being OK to being prostrate. :?

Methotrexate day later. I had to miss 2 while in hospital. Next appointment is with my rheumy next Monday. She won't be pleased that my chest people increased my Pred dose while I was in. Back to normal now, maybe that's why I get tired so easily. 20mg down to 10mg. Waiting on an appointment with chest doctor and I have to have blood tests as usual next week.

Sorry, got to go lie down. a015.gif

Barbara's holiday charity? Not heard of that one. Oh your poor GD. Hope she has recovered a bit and the other two aren't a problem. I got my pay rise last week so the day after my boss told me about it. :D

Elizabeth, a lovely new hairdo. I don't worry what others think. As long as you like it, that's all that matters. I haven't had any birds mess up my washing yet but they often sit on the back of the bench or on top of the garden swing and mess the seats. You were lucky you didn't lose your post with your laptop shutting down. I'd have thought it was gone for sure.

Joan, hopefully a few nice days coming up.

Kath, we only do as we're told with meds. Not our fault if one medic changes it and the other doesn't like it. Hope you managed a nap and feel less tired now.

My boss and his wife were out today. The 17 year old and his friend came home at lunchtime and went in to the kitchen. The conservation went like this.
G - Shall we have bacon for lunch?
F - Yes. What about beans to go with it?
G - Yeah. Wash your hands first and we'll need knives and forks.
    F - Right. I'll get a bean-cooking tin out.
    G - A bean-cooking tin? What's one of them?
F - You know. One of those things you put the beans in to cook them.
G- Do you mean a pan?
F - Well whatever you call it.
I do worry about some of them going off to uni soon.

Just watching Shark on tv. It's fascinating but I find it scary as my daughter and her husband swim with sharks whenever they get the chance. I've seen photos and video of them with house sized sharks and with 20 or 30 sharks swimming round them. Makes me feel panicky thinking about it.

Elizabeth..has long as you like your hair.. ts good to have a change..very strange weather here one mine its hot the next cold
Joan..my GD has gone to school today..so all ia well but her lips still swelled..she has to go back next week for another 2 out :o
Christine...I love it the bean cooking tin... dear me..did they leave you to wash up or fill the dish washer..yes GD has gone to school thanks...but she is not looking forward to next week and we have to take her  surprised you haven't heard of my holiday charity..just pop the money in the tin buy the counter..
Kath ..it will take you time to recover ...and having a poorly chest on top of the other things must make it hard...hope you managed a nap yesterday ..sleeping heals...that is what my Mum used to say.. :? :)

Hello everyone, glorious earlier, but clouded over a bit now. Still nice enough to sit out with my book.

I just had FaceTime with my littlest grandgirlie. She makes my heart sing. She was dancing and singing to her music, bobbing up and down - and falling over - and touching her eyes, nose, and ears, like they do at her baby music class. She told me such a tale, in her own language. I caught "Joe Fish" a couple of times. My son told me later she means Joseph!

Barbara, it probably only feels like yesterday that your GD was in pain cutting her teeth, and now she's in pain having them out.

I'm laughing at bean cooking tin Christine. I gave my two a crash course in basic healthy cooking before they each left for Uni. Judging from their rubbish whenever we visited, they were using the same tin cooking tin method!

Like your hair Ginge! I've just done mine, usual dark honey blonde. Nearly killed me because of my shoulder.

Kath, so good to have you back. I've put a lovely yellow duvet cover with big sunflowers on the bed, so get yourself in there. I promise I won't tip you out.

Love to Toady, Joan and Sue, Toni and anyone else who pops in.......Cate.x

    Hello everyone,

Lovely sunny day today, and quite warm in a sheltered spot. OH washed all my hospital nighties for me, but I hung them out myself. We have a rotary line so no walking up and down the garden path. Got everything dry.

    a025.gif

Cate, what a lovely facetime with your littlest. She sounds so sweet. I appreciate the lovely duvet. Sunflowers are so cheering. Thank you. :D

Barbara, Happy Birthday for tomorrow. That happened to me with ES Mother's Day card. I never told him either.

Christine, hahahaha a bean cooking tin. I wonder when they will start appearing on wedding gift lists.

Hope everyone is as well as can be, and that you have enjoyed the lovely sunshine.

Barbara, it is silly of them not to just deliver the post with it costing more money in the long run. No, I didn't need to wash up after the boys had their lunch. When I went in to the kitchen, my boss's mum had turned up and was putting everything in to the dishwasher. Happy birthday for tomorrow. Have a lovely day.

Cate, facetime is a great thing. Aren't they funny when they are learning to talk. I think most students live on beans so it's best they learn about the bean cooking tin.

Kath, isn't it nice to get the washing out on the line. I think the bean cooking tin will definitely be on that lad's wedding list.

I was talking to my daughter in Australia. She told me she had gone out for a walk and when she came back, the back door, which was locked, and the back gate, which was padlocked, were wide open. She called the police who have taken fingerprints. They had had a possum in the loft since they arrived which was banging about all through the night so they had called someone out to block the hole and they had come while my daughter was out so they think it was them who left the door and gate open. My daughter is worried about it though as she is the only one who has a key.

I'm hoping we have some nice weather this weekend so I can get in to the garden. Hope everyone has a good weekend with some sun.

On a similar subject Daisycat knocked one of my orchids off the kitchen windowsill in the night probably looking at some small creature outside

That was fun clearing that up this morning NOT!! At least she hadn't cut her paws.

It's good to see Kath back properly isn't it?

and Barbara - happy BIRTHDAY :)

Ooh honey blonde is what I really want Kate. I had a couple of different colours put in because I am still searching for the ideal colour so it is a process of elimination.OH is not very good with his choice of words and he never has been but I am used to it.

Happy birthday Barbara. Enjoy your trips out. Our local garden centre does lovely food, posh sandwiches and scones and cake. £1 handling fee is ridiculous. What difference does it make to the post office?

I'm surprised the boys could cook bacon and beans! I thought they might stick them in a bowl and microwave them. thats if they could open the beas in the first place.
That is scary for your Daughter Applerose if she is the only one with a key. How and why would the possum man have got trough a padlocked gate and a locked door. Surely he'd have called at another time.

I have a long serving orchid Toni but no cats! Did she damage the orchid because they can be quite fragile? I'm sure you coul;d done without all that clearing up after a mad week.

Got a letter through today, following a height and weight check at school, the wording of which could cause distress and panic! It says my Daughter is very overweight for her age and height and sex. I know it is just a warning but these sort of comments can so easily cause more problems than intended so I will not show her the letter. In fact I might bin it to be on the safe side. She is 8.3 and does love her sweet stuff.

Son has Friday off so we are going to take the Greyhounds out for a walk again. Its his treat now. Other Son doing his A levels and they don't need to go into school every day. Then it is yet another holiday half term week!

Hello to Joan, Toady, Kath and Mig. Hoping you have a good weekend too Hope that is everyone!

barbara_zpswfd1ur5h.gif How disappointing that the cake wasn't for you. It was nice to get the flowers and other presents though.

Thank you for the cake and champers. My daughter sent me a message. She said she found the door and gate unlocked again just after her OH went out to work so she now thinks it was him who left it open the other day. It was still very wrong of the possum men to just walk in to the house. At least it looks as if it wasn't burglars.

Toni, that must have made a right mess. Hope you found all the bits of glass. Oh Daisycat, not an orchid. Were there flowers on it? Hope it wasn't too badly damaged.

Hope your washing dried Cate. I got mine done. Some sun and plenty of wind here.

Elizabeth, my boss's son is very good. He can cook, iron and has kept his bedroom spotless for nearly 3 weeks now. His friend, however, doesn't seem to have a clue. It sounded as if my boss's son was telling him what to do. My daughter has now told me she thinks it was her OH who had left the door and gate open. Still wrong of the possum men to just walk in. I do think you need to be careful of those sort of letters. Some people have more muscle than others so are naturally heavier. Even if they are overweight, it can still cause problems for them. If she does need to lose any weight, it should be up to you to deal with it your way.

Joan, hope you and Sue have been able to get out with the dogs this weekend.

Was hoping to get in to the garden. Well I did sort of. I did 3 wash loads and hung them out. Didn't take long to dry so I got back outside to bring the clothes back in. Put all the photocopied family tree stuff in to folders and errmmm ...... that was it.
