Toady, I often buy things I like but don't get round to hanging them or laying them or whatever. They usually lie up against the wall on the floor for quite some time. Talking of gadgets, I've got a few which I left out on the kitchen worktop so I would use them. Still didn't get used so now they are back in the cupboard.
Cate, it is a good idea to SORN your car until you're sure what you want to do. I spend about £8.50 a week at the most on buses so don't know how I'd manage with a car. Guess you just do. Hope your sleep pattern sorts itself out.
Joan, it rained here until tea time then we had a little sun.
Mig, as there's only me, I only use chicken breasts so didn't notice they didn't stock whole frozen chickens any more. I thought people would still want them.
Barbara, I think that sounds like a good idea to go to each other's houses and all get stuck in and get jobs done. Hope your GD manages to get her revision done.
I spent the day at my son's house. My dil and eldest GD had arranged to meet up with friends at lunch time but my GS and youngest GD were there. My GD was Doctor Peppa Pig and she said her big brother was George. She had her doctor's kit so was making us all better.Christine0 -
Morning all
Hope Kath is feeling a little better today..and hopefully she will be home soon
Christine..I think I now know every episode of Peppa...glad you got some time with your son and GC..
tired but happy...I have a free bus pass and don't get to use it..the buses are so far away I wouldn't make it now
I do think the time is getting near to moving..we have lived here 40 years next week ,we got the keys on my Birthday..so will be sad to leave..but there are no buses nearby or shops...and I don't drive ..I did many years ago..now I'm rambling...
Today I think we are off to the garden center...I hope...
Will put the kettle on and stoke the fire ..I don't believe it in May...Love

Morning Barbara. If you were nearer a bus stop, you might get out a bit more but, as you say, it is difficult to leave a house you've lived in for so long. Hope you have a good afternoon at the garden centre.
I'm still in bed. Had a good sleep last night - 9 hours. Not surprised as I only had 2 hours the night before. Was like a zombie yesterday. I want to get a big job done in the house today. Maybe painting a wall in my bedroom or dining room but don't feel I can be bothered. Might just potter and get a few small jobs done. MaybeChristine0 -
Hello Barbara Christine and anyone else I missed.
Christine you needed that sleep don't wear yourself out to day.
Barbara you have lived there a long time it's not the house it's the people that's in it that you care about.

Hello everyone,
Had the heating on most of the day, not feeling like May at all.
Christine, I hope you left the big job, and just enjoyed your day off work. It'll all be there tomorrow. One good thing about living alone, we can please ourselves.
My eldest granddaughter was nine on Friday, and my son sent a video. I was happily singing along with Happy Birthday at the top of my voice, forgetting that the window was open. When I went to put the bin out front later my neighbour asked me whose birthday it was. When I told him he looked at me as if I was ready for the Home for the Befuddled! Then I got another video of the little un at a petting farm, loving it all and chasing after everything in sight. Then she jumped in a puddle - she did have wellies on - and landed on her bottom. By the time she hauled herself up, her hands and face were all muddy too. She laughed like mad then said "Oh dear what a shame". I roared, but made sure the window was shut.
Barbara, like you I have been in my house for over forty years, and I will never leave. It is far too big for me, but full of wonderful memories. I always feel so safe here.
I hope Joan and Sue are as well as they can be, and enjoying the weekend.
Love to Toni, Mig, Elizabeth, Toady, and of course Kath.......Cate.x0 -
Joan, thank you. I didn't do too much today and have enjoyed my extra day off. Hope you had a good weekend.
Cate, we had quite nice weather here. Not sunny but was fairly warm. Yes, I did leave my big jobs and spent the afternoon pottering in the garden instead. Exactly, I always say these jobs aren't going anywhere. They will be there for later. You're right about living alone. You can do or not do without any complaints. How wonderful getting the video. Don't blame you singing along. Nothing wrong with that. Sounds as if she is loving life. It's fun getting muddy. My house is too big for just me but I like it. Love my garden more though.
I'll leave the kettle on for anyone else who calls in. Hope everyone has had a lovely weekend.Christine0 -
Morning all ..we had lovely weather yesterday ..but raining this morning
Cate..it will be so hard to leave this house like you say all the memories are there..my youngest son was 2 months old when we moved in..how lovely that you feel so safe... :)I bet the neighbours enjoyed the sing songbrilliant to see the little one enjoying the mud..that takes me back to making mud pies
.. hope that shoulders has eased for you..
Christine..glad you enjoyed your weekend especially the lie in ...and the pottering..the weather was to nice to waste..I'm the same with the garden because I have always been the gardener...
Joan..thankyou...you are kind..hope you and Sue enjoyed the weekend..keep getting out on those scooter...
Today I might just paint the other half of this door...any help would be appreciated...we enjoyed the garden center yesterday but it was so busy, they had a farmers market..so bought one of the pies Christine mentioned, the breakfast one..it was delicious..
Kettle is on...and I might be in bed..shattered this morning...Love
Barbara0 -
Toni I'm a bit late but I read in which?mgaazine that a certain kettle brand has been returned by many customers because they could not get rid of the vile taste. I wonder if it is the same one?
I have managed to stay awake today. i went to wish my sister Happy Birthday then kept going.....been looking up financial things, universities and politics. I also took my Humira injection;this will be 3rd one in a row.
Hi Barbara, we are still at the stage of walking the Greyhounds at the local rescue to help them. OH took the youngest 2 children to introduce them slowly. Think I would like to wait until we move house as this one has the road and a Greyhound would be through our hedge no problem!
We have wooden floors Toady and only have carpet on the stairs, landing and in the bedrooms. OH laid our floor and did a very good job.
Applerose hope you feel more awake now. Well done on finding all those bargains from m&s.
Cate we have SORNED a few vehicles, that way insurance and mot costs are kept down.
We get our frozen chickens from Waitrose but sometimes they have sold out.
Lovely and windy today so catching up on the washing. Doing some of the bedding. Hope the weather is okay for Joan.
Must pop off now and watch who do you think you are repeats on the Yesterday channel. I do love that proramme.

Hello Barbara Elizabeth and anyone else I missed.
Barbara don't work too hard painting can make your body ache.
Elizabeth I know you will look after the greyhounds well.
when we went for a walk years ago my dachshund was attacked by a greyhound that ran out of his garden my dog had 30 stiches and she was on a drip for 3 days its thanks to a lady who was passing she hit the greyhound and he dropped her. the man who owned the dog paid the bill.
after that she had cancer.

Did you get your door painted today Barbara? I guess it's another of those jobs that will always be there for another day, if not. Hope you stayed in bed for a while being so tired. Did you enjoy your pie?
What a good idea to help out at the rescue Elizabeth. Bet the kids love it. We've had strong winds here too but with rain, heavy at times. Fortunately, I didn't get caught in it.
Oh, Joan, your poor dog. I think most of that type of thing happens because the owner doesn't have control of the dog and hasn't trained it properly. Thank goodness for the lady who stopped it.
I had my boiler serviced this afternoon. Can't believe I've had it a year. I was sure I'd read it would cost £100 so thought about not getting it done but I've got a 10 year guarantee on it, as long as I get it serviced annually, but it was only £35.Christine0 -
Afternoon all
Oh Joan your poor DogHow dreadful and to think she got cancer afterwards coincidence I know, but such a shame
HI ChristineI am glad you had a nice surprise, with the service being cheaper than you expected for your boiler
I broke the door handle on my washing machine and a man has taken it away. It's integrated so an unusual make ::)
Elizabeth 10:1 it was the same kettle!! Horrendous whiff it was. If could have braved tasting it I imagine it would have tasted awful too.
I hope your sister has a happy birthday and hope 3 humiras in a row will make a difference. I hope you get a house move soon so you can help one of those dogsHow lovely
Barbara - I hope you are ok you were very tired yesterday and that the door painting didn't finish you off for the day. We have a thoroughly miserable day here today.
One of Charley's friends has been in an accident so I have her here on the settee with Lucy fast asleep. Lucy is proud to be looking after her. The lass' parents have moved down south so I have become the responsible adult
Take care everyone
Love

Afternoon all had bloods this morning then shopping...its never stopped pouring down..so we went to the trafford center and got a wheelchair..I still hate them  but they are a means to an end..
Elizabeth its a good idea to walk the greyhounds first and get the children used to them..they are normally placid dogs..and love there home comforts..bet the center is happy with the help
Joan your poor dog..think it because the greyhounds chase the dummy when racing...so any little dog is a prime target..I never got round to painting the door  I feel I have got so lazy.. hope you are not in to much pain..
Christine..the door is still not painted and we loved the pie..cant believe how good they are..and it was down to you that I had heard of the breakfast one..the boiler service was a good price and nice when you are expecting more...you can treat yourself now..
I have got my letter off the rheumy after 2 phone calls..apparently I have 8 of ten trigger points for fibro... :? and no inflammation so that is good..but have to have another blood test in 6 months..and she mentions the hips and the bulging disc..things I knew about..so not much nearer really
I hope that Kath is improving..bet she is so fed up being in hospital..and haven't heard off bubbles for a while..
Bought some hotel Chocolate while we were out..its amazing...the last time I had some was 2 years ago for my Birthday..will leave some in the tin ..
Just spotted you there Toni...how lovely for Lucy and you to be looking after her friend..she must be shook up bless..and don't worry I didn't paint the door...it will do for another day...hope your back is doing ok...hee Im a poet..
Love
Barbara0 -
It's one of Charley's friends Barbara so Lucy is extra proud to be helping
Glad you didn't overdo it doing that door!
Have cleaned out my t*ssimo so a macchiato for you???
Interesting letter from rheumy though. Answers a few questions doesn't it? Does that qualify you for a diagnosis of fibro too??
Let's hope Kath is improving and gets home on Friday for the weekend. I too well remember that feeling if they don't let you home on Friday...'stuck here all weekend'
Love
Toni xx0 -
Joan how awful that your dog was attacked by a greyhound. The trouble is some like to chase cats. rabbits and probably small dogs and some do not like small children so I will have to make sure it has been cleared first.
I am starving and wish i had some chocolate, my son just brought me a packet of crisp as was getting shaky but I need something more.
My Daughter phoned today. she is going for the radio show uni course interview again, having postponed it a year. I think she will still be working part time.
Glad the bill wasn't a shock Christine. toni your bill might not be so welcome if Washing machine is intergrated.
today my left arm is hurting, I've never really had an issue that side.
Think i must go and get some grub as feel a bit faint.
Sorry to rush off,

Hi all
raining torrents here all day & strong wind. Same again til the weekend it says, though maybe a bit less. Garden will have to wait - finally got some bamboo canes, & now can't get out to put peas in. Never mind, plenty to pot indoors. The 'mystery' seeds turned out to be cumin, I had obviously done 3 pots of the same & thought it was 2.
Glad to see everyone not too bad but not as much news of Kath as hoped.
Not much to report, no further with big jobs so will add mine to the pending pile with barbara & applerose. £35 is very reasonable for the boiler, is that as part of some sort of scheme? Mine's more than that.. mind you is very thorough and is her for hours..
Did you buy any plants at the garden centre barbara? Are there things on your plant display stand you bought now?
Hope you are getting somewhere with the financial research TK. What a lovely way to have some time with dogs by helping out the centre, without taking the responsibility on - greyhounds are nice dogs aren't they although I am a little bit wary of all dogs. I would worry about something happening as it did to joan's dog if I was an owneryou just don't know what other dogs you are going to come across when you go out.
Hope joan and sue are going on alright & not cold now that it has dropped chillier again, Sunday is forecast to be 20 degrees here, such a change!
Glad you enjoyed singing along with your GD's video Cate even if you did not realise you were performing to an audience. That's one thing I would like if I could have not such near neighbours, to be able to turn music up. But I'm very lucky they don't, no loud tv &c, so fair's fair.
My new gadget is a small music player, that you can put your own music onto (designed to be a bluetooth speaker really) can't quite believe what you can get these days for so little money. Didn't expect brilliant sound quality even though reviews were good, but it's a great little thinglooks like a little rubbery grenade (you may have seen them around, there are a few firms doing something similar) you can touch it with wet hands etc so ideal for kitchen/bathroom & looks cool too.
I've got an mp3 player but this does a different 'job'. Love it.
Hope you get your washing machine back soon, never thought that some bits like handles might not be simply 'fittable' but it stands to reason I guess! And something to replace the tinny kettle. What I can't understand, is don't they notice these things during development/production? Same as ones I saw where everyone said the water level window starts leaking, isn't that what product testing's for?! Hope Charley's friend is ok?
Love to all, hope mig is ok. Something hot & frothy to drink is called for, will leave the (non-horrid-tasting) kettle on! xx0 -
Toni, I hope you get your washing machine back soon and it doesn't cost too much to repair. We can't really do without them, can we? I do hope Charley's friend is ok. Hope you and Lucy don't tire yourselves looking after her. You seem the type of people not to hesitate in offering to help.
Hope the bloods went ok today Barbara. Glad you did use the wheelchair. Even though you don't like them, you'll be able to get about a bit more. Don't be worrying about the door. Just do it when you feel up to it. Did you think you had fibro before the tests? At least there is no inflammation. Sounds like a waiting game again. :?
Elizabeth, glad you managed to get something to eat and you feel ok now. How nice of your son to bring the sausage rolls up for you. Ameretto? Mmmmm, lovely. I like it on it's own but sometimes have it with coke. Good luck to your daughter with the interview.
Joan, hope you and Sue are getting out with the dogs and the weather isn't too bad for you.
Toady, maybe we should all swap big jobs. We might get them done then.My boiler is only 1 year old and I have a 10 year guarantee which says I have to have it serviced every year for it to count. Your music player sounds like a good idea. So does it work without head phones? I like the idea of it still working when it's wet.
Just spent an hour going through all the candidates for tomorrow. Here we can vote for 1 MP, 3 borough councillors and 11 parish councillors. I'll be glad when it's all over.
A while back, my cousin's son let me have a look at all the family tree stuff his dad had collected over a lot of years. I gave it back to my dad to give him. A short while later, my cousin's son contacted me to say there was a bag missing which contained quite a lot of info and a few birth, marriage and death certificates. I'd not seen those so told him I knew nothing about them. Tonight, I've looked through some of my dad's things which I am storing for him and, guess what. I came across the missing bag. There is a lot there. I'm going to photocopy as much as I can then I really must let my cousin's son have it all back. Hope he understands. :?
Hope Kath gets home on Friday. She must be really fed up by now.Christine0 -
Sending positive vibes and hugs to all that need them and the poor dog.
Kath hope things are improving for you. (((((((()))))))). Mig0 -
applerose your Cousin's son will be over the moon. He probably thought they'd gone for good!
I have made the effort to vote this morning, even put on my make-up.Then as we passed my hairdresser's house I was able to arrange much needed hair appointments. We had lost her phone number and although she lives near I've never quite felt well enough to just walk over.
I got an appointment through today for lung function and it is for tomorrow morning! My coughing has been atrocious these past couple of weeks so I'll be timing it right. I'm really not feeling right at the moment. Maybe OH and I will go out for lunch afterwards as a treat.
Toady my eldest boy is healthy so I don't mind asking him to help. I would remind him how lucky he is if he dared complain.
I've never owned a dog and they are a responsibility so supporting them in other ways such as with sponsorship and walking.
I used to be on the ball with finance Toady but I'm just so drained nowadays everything seems to go in one ear and out the other.
Joan the weather is rain followed by warm sunshine here. My washing is soaked but as it keeps changing I've left some out now. VE day celebrations at school tomorrow so I don't need all the usual uniform to be dry and ironed.
Is Kath still in hospital? She must be so down. We'll have to put the bunting up for when she returns.
Toni you didn't answer the birthday question? You are last day of April aren't you but I didn't see it on facebook or on here! Did I miss it or were you keeping a low profile?
Take care, having chicken, yorkshire puds and rumble thumps now.

What good timing for your lung function appointment, Elizabeth. They'll see just how bad you are. Hope they can help with it. Haven't seen Kath around so think she is still in hospital. She said it might possibly be tomorrow when she gets out. Think I've heard of rumble thumps but not sure what it is.
Barbara, you might as well make the most of being out and about and have lunch while you're there. it was quite warm here today too but I didn't notice and spent the morning inside photocopying family tree stuff. It's supposed to be good over the weekend.
How wonderful that you get away so often Mig. You enjoy it. Fingers crossed the weather is good for the wedding.
Joan, hope you and Sue are as well as you can be.
Been to vote. The MP vote was easy, the borough council vote was fairly easy but the parish vote paper was about 2 feet long. Looked as if everyone was taking a while to go through it all. There were people sitting all over studying it. I had already chosen who I was voting for and written them all down but still took a while to find them all on the list.
Last night, I dropped a bottle of Japanese mirin on the floor. The bottom smashed off and the mirin splashed all over the floor. I mopped it 6 times but the floor was still very sticky. Just done it again so hopefully I've got it all up now.Christine0 -
