Quick hello.
I went to see the Greyhounds today and had loads of cuddles. I could have taken a dozen home with me.
Sadly one of the children at Daniel's school died on Monday and it was a little girl who had also attended our local school. I used to talk to her Mum while Lucy and C. went to gym club. Her Mum was thrilled when she got a transfer to the wonderful Junior school my Son had attended. It it so sad.
Glad to see everyone is coping and Toady is doing her gymnastics.
No I dare not watch BB as it takes too much of my time and I find I'm not listening to Lucy when she is talking to me.
Letter binned Toni...I know she would be distraught if she saw it
Take care all.

Just a very quick one from me, as have been using the internet a bit too much again (so says my head anyway - too much screen or reading seems to not go down well these days  ) so better not push my luck.
Glad you have got your 'net access back barbara, the answer to what we did before we had it? Looking around me..? Housework.Well at least, there's no real doubt, that it's where a lot of my time once spent doing other things goes.
Anyway, hello to all, and with a shudder at applerose's daughter's spiders(never, never would I go to anywhere that had those - how would you sleep?!) and a lovely slice of mig's unstoppable ginger cake
I'll sign out & be back in due course.
love to TK, frog, joan, Cate & kath too xx0 -
Morning everyone!
Toady you are wise not to overdo the screen reading :? Thank you for your hello and one back at you. Housework is what we did
Elizabeth that is such sad news about the little girl(((()))) for you. I hope the Greyhounds helped you feel a bit better.
Hi Joan - I think it's good carers still help Sue. Makes it easier for both of you
mig I hope the ginger cake was edible and if so can I have a slice??
Barbara - that is one good thing about the teenage Cancer Trust - they pay for free tellys and wifi for the kidsHope your GD coped at school after her extractions
Christine I am impressed your GD is being a builder!! Go her!!!Is your employer the single employer of the painter?? He's always there!!! somehow he really doesn't appeal to me :?
Lets have some sunshine today please
KathT I hope the new nebulizer thingies help keep you out of that place!!! I think you have seen enough of the inside of there for a good while
I'm watching BB with lacy and Paul - I love it

Hello all cafe dwellers,
Sunny here, and quite warm. Been to A**a and bought a new pair of pink slippers to put in my hospital bag - I like to be prepared. The theory is, if I'm all ready for the off, nothing will happen. I know, I live in cloud cuckoo land.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend, and keeping as well as can be.
New nebuliser is now positioned so I can use it in the living room when the TV is off. When TV is on, I shall be relegated to the bedroom where my old one lives. It is really helping me.
mig, is there any cake left? I love your baking/cooking
Barbara, don't overdo it in the garden, or is someone else doing the work?
Toni, some parts of being in hospital are rather good, the meals for example and the cups of tea. Plus, I quite enjoy some quiet time by myself, but it does get boring after a while, especially when you start to feel better. One of our oncology wards has a special section for young people, paid for by donations from parents to the Teenage Cancer Trust. The rooms are amazing - I know because I got to spend a night in one when having chemo and became ill. I was very lucky.
Elizabeth, how sad to hear of the little girl who died.
Joan, glad to hear that Sue is doing well and the carers are still coming in for her. It must be a relief for you too, takes some of the pressure off you.
Just spent an hour looking at bags on the place in the jungle (I practically live on there lately) but they were either too small, too big, or too expensive. I saw one I rather fancied until I noticed that it cost over £102came off the site double quick.

Are you being blamed for the marks on the table? I think you've told us the painter sometimes brings his girlfriend round? Do you think he is paid by the hour
? (edit; I hope that doesn't look rude, it was't meant to be  )
Cate massive apologies I spelt your name with a K. I don't know what possessed me. Can I blame brain fog?
Joan it doesn't take a lot to upset my Daughter nowadays. She's always walking round with a sulk on. I'm not even sure what it is about half the time.
Toni the dogs did cheer me up. And it was nice to get out of the house and chat with fellow Grey lovers.. The kennels are in a lovely spot of countryside so that makes it even better. Also I got to stroke the Grey that I sponsor and that was a treat.
No advice on travel insurance. I have a free policy with my building society for basics but it was £70 for extra cover and I thought that was bad enough.
Had a long lie-in this morning. I'm constantly coughing and it hurts my head each cough so I'm not comfortable at all. I'd like to be resting now but I'm on parent duty. I'm keeping a bottle of water next to me to sip.
Oh yes housework! I definitely limit it to the bare essentials nowadays.
I'm not sure I can sit through Eurovision tonight although I like to see who the winner is at the end. Its the 'political' voting that annoys me so much.
I couldn't stand the spiders either Toady although I once held a tarantula and stroked its front legs.
Mig that would be your nice new oven then that nearly got a spillage. Lucky you had put the tray in.
Kath I'm glad you are getting some extra, new meds aded to your prescription.
Are you seeing any improvement?
Okay cloudy here and not much to report. It is half-term but we haven't booked anything. What I'd give to go sit on a white, sandy beach under the palm trees!
Hope all goes well for your GD Barbara. I'm sure it will be worth it in the long run.
Take care everyone

Evening all..its been and still is a lovely day..
Joan I haven't tried cornflower..only for thickening gravy..I will give that ago..
Mig glad the cake turned out ok...I could just eat a piece with a cuppa and we dont have any in..or biscuits..
Kath I know what you mean about hospitals thought it was only me, but I enjoyed being catered for..and the me time...Oh did the garden ..I just pruned a couple of things I could reach..crutch in one hand
Elizabeth..glad you enjoyed walking the dog..it is relaxing especially if they dont pullsorry its cloudy for you ..I was just thinking of holidays..the effort seems to much..especially the airport ..I do like the in between
bit..
Oh cut the grass I watched ..then our youngest son turned up with the baby so he cut the front..so it looks nice now I will take a pic of my planter thingy...honest...Love

Evening everyone. Didn't get on last night as my eyes were really tired. Thought I'd check in early tonight.
Barbara, I'm glad things went well for your GD. Good on her going in to school. It would be the last day before the holiday, isn't it? Haven't strangled the painter yet but there's still time.I'm fancying cake now too but don't have any. Can't be bothered to get up to make one either. Glad you got in the garden and got to see the baby.
Whoops Mig. That sounds like what would happen to my cake.I love anything ginger.
Joan, good to hear Sue is doing well with the help of the carers. Hope you are both having a good weekend.
Elizabeth, sounds as if you had a good time with the greyhounds. Dogs can be very therapeutic. How very sad to lose the little girl. Hope Daniel isn't too upset. Her family will be devastated. Yes, it's the same painter who brings his family round. I think my boss thought he had made the marks on the table. The varnish and the shop which sold it are being blamed because of the chemicals but I think the painter should have known it could happen. I didn't think it was rude at all. I see you still have that awful cough. Makes it worse when it hurts your head. I won't be watching Eurovision. Might watch a film I've recorded if there's nothing else on.
Toady, I'm trying to cut way back with the internet too as the light from the screen aggravates my eyes. I agree, housework used to take up the time I now spend on the internet.
Toni, that's good that the TCT pay for the tv and internet. It would cost a fortune for the parents with them spending so much time in hospital. The painter works for himself. He has mentioned work he has done in other houses round about. I think it's either silly of him to take so long over a job if he gets paid by the job or silly of my boss to get him in if he's paid by the hour. :? Hope you did get some sun today.
Kath, I do hope your theory of being prepared works. Are you looking for a new bag or do you just like to look? It is amazing how much some people will pay for things.
I went down to the High Street today and got my paint for the kitchen. Only one wall to do but I need to take some wallpaper off first. Might do it tomorrow and I might not.Put a few plants in the garden and did a bit of weeding as it was such a lovely day. Did I tell you that my daughter was making dinner the other day and thought the kids were a bit quiet. She went to check on them and they were busy colouring in the settee. Thankfully it was leather and it all wiped off.
Christine0 -
Morning all..raining here today after a glorious day yesterday..suppose this is what makes England the green and pleasant land..well used to be pleasant..
I'm rambling already... :?
Christine ..yes she is on half term now..she is quite hard when it come to pain...glad you got the paint ..if its anything like mine I open it then leave the brush in till next bit and I don't get round to it..so new brushes and have to take the skin off the paint..I had to laugh at your GC colouring the settee... thank goodness for leather..
don't you just know something is going on when they go quiet...
we didst watch the eurovision ..I used to in the early days..to political now
I had all sorts planned for the garden today thinking it would be sunny..maybe this afternoon ..
I will get the grill warmed and put the kettle on..Love

Hello everyone,
Haven't been around much as I've been running myself ragged getting everything ready for my son and his little family coming. Enough food to feed Lancashire, lovely new bed linen, and more toys than Hamley's. Only to get a call to say they can't come. I'm devastated. This is the third time since Christmas. I know who is behind this and it's not my son. We've spoken, and he knows that I know, and seems just as devastated. I have been absolutely adamant that he says nothing which will cause him problems. That will only make things worse. I'm heartbroken and just can't understand it, but there's nothing I can do. And they say Mothers-in-law are difficult!
I'll just sit quietly with a coffee and read everyone's posts to take my mind off things.....as if!......Much love to you all.....Cate.x0 -
-
Oh Cate to say I am sorry doesn't seem enough..I have gone through this with my GC..and believe me I know how you must feel, all I can say is you are doing right not saying anything..my late mum used to say bite your lip and boy my lips have been sore,..love and hugs coming your way ..((())) xx
Sorry hello Toni xxLove
Barbara0 -
Cate I feel so sorry for you but you are very good not causing a fuss-fuel for the fire they say! But you know everybody would have such a lovely time so it is a shame. Sometimes it is just fear of the unknown that is causing problems that aren't really there so if they could turn up they could leave at any time (but bet they wouldn't). I bet your Son misses you.
Sorry you have gone through this too Barbara. But you know I do keep away from OH parents but that's because they have never believed me or helped me when I'm ill. I'd rather not get upset and say something.
Thankfully the drawing came off the sofa but I know a friend who had marker pen put on her new leather sofa! My Son covered my brand new sofa in something horrible (I don't think I'd better mention it) too!! Just the one arm but that was bad enough.
Baking cakes sound like a plan as we don't have any either, in fact no bacon or duck eggs so we can't even have a fry up!
Daniel was a bit upset, they'd had a special assembly, but doesn't really know C. but I was very upset when I saw the letter from school.
Must say I prefer to wax tables rather than varnish but glad you are not being blamed Applerose. Good luck with the painting.
I don't mind the travelling Barbara because it is getting the family out of their comfort zone, and I love flying, but I'm never keen when I arrive at my destination as I seem to spend it doing housework, trying to keep Dan relaxed or trying to get everyone to sleep!
I'm off to bed in a minute. I had a sneaky limoncello and it has now made my stomach ache, not what I intended. I'm looking forward to Match of the day tonight if I'm allowed the remote!
At least my head is feeling better.
Take care all, hoping you are well and safe. Toni enjoy the flicks.

Morning everyone
I hope cate is feeling a bit better today. I hope things do settle in time.
Barbara it's reassuring to hear you've been through it too. I'm glad I have girls...maybe it's less of an issue if you have girls? Just in case I need to in the distant future I WILL learn to bite my lip
Elizabeth - the flicks was well-scary!!! Lucy let out an almighty shriek when the first person was killed....after that she hidI managed to watch it and stay calm. Personally I am terrified of horror films, but think us Mums can cope with most things for our kids can't we?
I know what you mean about travel - I love it, but as a Mum (particularly if one of the kids has any extra needs) you do spend too much time settling them or trying to cook what makes them feel happy
Shame about the limoncello
Looks overcast out there and I was hoping to get in the garden too!
Yah booh
Hope everyone is ok....KathT??
Joan??
anyone else I forgot

Morning all
Hope Cate managed some sleep..
Elizabeth everything turned our sort of fine if that makes sense..the girls ended up living here most of the week, there Mum was poorly so we got her help and now we are best of friends...wont say it easy easy but we manged between usno wounder you were upset with the letter...I like flying its the airports that I find hard even with a wheelchair..
Toni I have heard the film is scary ...the things that us mums do...at least you both got through it...
Its cloudy here but the sun is trying to come out..we are off visiting today Ohs brother...neither he or I look forward to this..not really him but his wife..they are very posh..Mrs Bucket comes to mind..
Will see you all later hope you have a goodish day...xxxxxxLove

Hello Toni Barbara Mig Elizabeth Christine Cate and anyone else I missed
Toni its cold here as well. I hope you have all had a good day.
Barbara I hope you had a good day.
Mig I hope the weekend went well for you.
Elizabeth I hope you all had a good weekend.
Christine i'm sorry you are having a problem with your eyes.
Cate I don't know why people don't get on I think they look down on others and they don't want to get on with them.
take care all

Afternoon everyone. Hope you are as well as can be. One question - WHERE THE HECK IS SUMMER???
Toni, KathT is feeling quite well, just a bit tired. Chest is working well. A few aches and pains, but we have to expect that don't we - don't we?? :? Hope you and Lucy are keeping well too.
Elizabeth, oh dear - don't know what limoncello is, but sorry you now have stomach ache.hope you managed to get the tv controller for Match of the Day.
Cate, feel for you in that situation. Such a shame, as GCs suffer too.
Christine, I was originally looking for a replacement for the bag I use as my handbag. I don't suit normal bags as I have to wear them cross body, but they have to be roomy so I can fit all my paraphanalia - inhaler, eye drops, spare tissues, comb, pen and notebook, medical folder, steroid cards (I have two, one for tablets and one for inhaler) kitchen sink - no, scratch that. Oh yes, bottle of water, small vaseline for lips and mouth spray. So I'm very hard to please. :?
Barbara, glad you had plenty of help with the garden.
Joan, hope all is good with you and Sue.
I have a picture in my mind of mig at the cooker, thinking up delicious meals, cakes and other tasty morsels just for us."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Whoops, I was in here last night but must have fallen asleep in the corner as I haven't posted.
Oh Cate, that's not on. All that hard work for nothing. I know what you mean about not saying anything. Hopefully, they will come another time. (((hugs))) Sometimes, I go up to my son's house to find my DIL has taken the girls out shopping so I don't get to see them. It is upsetting.
Toni, it sounds like quite a scary film. It didn't mention that when I googled it.
I didn't get in to the garden either. never mind, it's there for another day.
Joan, it's a bit cloudy here but quite warm.
Elizabeth, a holiday can be such hard work when kids, can't it? You expect to relax and spend it all just as you would at home. I've not tried limoncello but it sounds nice. Sorry it upset your tummy. Hope you get to watch the match.
Mig, I've got some pulled pork here I'm having for dinner. Haven't made it myself though.
Barbara, I have often left brushes covered in paint. I did find a good tip. Cover the brush in cling film if you plan to use it again. Problem is I leave it for weeks. It doesn't work thenHope you did enjoy your visit to The Bucket's house.
Kath, I use a big bag most of the time as I carry things just in case.
I've been scrolling up and down and answered posts in the wrong order so hope I didn't miss anyone.
I painted the one wall yesterday but, as I'd painted the ceiling a pale yellow and was now painting the wall white, I just had to do the ceiling too. What was that you said? Glutton for punishment? Yes, I think so too. Gave it a second coat this morning.
Had a walk up to my son's yesterday to drop of an anniversary card. They had gone out to a bbq but I didn't think I'd see them before their anniversary. This afternoon, I set off to go to the park in the next town as they had pipe bands and dancing on. Got less than half way and the energy drained from me so I just came back home. Feet up with a cuppa now.
My son and GS went to Wembley this morning. Think they must be gutted now. Their team lost 2-0.Christine0 -
Well there's horror films and HORROR films Toni. Today's films can be so gory so I'm not a great fan. In fact I hardly ever watch films at all. I only watched James Bond's Skyfall for the first time last month (but thoroughly enjoyed it).
Applerose do they know you are visiting? Why doesn't she go out alone and leave the kids so you could spend time with them? Your Son and GS must be Middlesbrough supporters.Such a shame but Norwich have been on fine form since they replaced their manager.
I'm very pleased to read your chest is much better Kath. Summer appears to be a little shy this year-a couple of times she has peeped out from behind the clouds but not for long!
I'm really sleepy but then I had a badish night. I wonder if I could get OH to keep watch while I have a sleep?
Barbara I'm so glad DIL is thankful now because you must have been such a help and a weight off her mind. Haha visiting Mrs Bucket. At least you'll get well fed with neat sandwiches and cake.
IS GD family paying for her braces? My ex paid for Charlies braces (so I've no idea how much it cost or whether she was expected to repay him-that wouldn't surprise me) but it was so worth it in the end
Hope it is not too cold for you Joan.
When we visited the Greyhounds Lucy spotted a couple of small knitted bags with dog faces on so persuaded me to buy them. Its only when we got them home that I realised they were poo bags! They are far too pretty for that particular duty.
Finally Lucy went horse-riding for the first time. I hope to put a pic up on facebook.
Hoping Toady is getting on with the carpet and furniture rearranging and Cate is going to make the most of the following days.
Shut eye time I hope
