Coco, good to see you in the café. Hope you are doing ok.

Toni, I enjoy fish but don't eat nearly enough of it. Must try harder. My glasses are taking a bit of getting used to. I keep looking over the top of them. Haven't got used to which bit to look through for different distances. My daughter and her family are very well. Thanks for asking. My GS has been at school for just over a week and his younger sister has started kindergarten. She's been desperate to go and loves it. Over shoes sounds like a good idea. My sister got a cream living room and stair carpet a long time ago. No-one was allowed to walk on them without the overshoes and definitely no food or drink near them. Unfortunately, that only lasted a few months. So did the carpet.

Mig, I'm the same. I hate what RA has done to me but, at the same time, feel so lucky I didn't get it when I was young. I hope you find some way of getting your tapestry finished. Could a friend do it or a local art college. I'm expecting to suddenly realise one day that my glasses aren't bothering me any more.

Joan, I'm a bit up and down with my glasses. They are helping with some of the blurriness but if I move quickly, it makes me a bit dizzy. Just need to get used to moving my head instead of my eyes.

Barbara, the magnifier will be a big help. I'm looking forward to seeing some of your jewellery. I'm not wearing my glasses all the time, especially on the stairs until I'm used to them.

I went in to town today to buy an aerial. I had told my son I was thinking of getting a little tv for the dining room so I had company while I do jigsaws, family tree and my course (which I've hardly done any of). He came round with one which they weren't using. I set it up and set it to retune while I was in the other room eating my tea. After a while, I heard voices and switched the living room tv off to listen but all was quiet. A few minutes later, I heard voices again and went in to the dining room to look out of the window to see who it was (I'm not nosy. No, really I'm not. ) Anyway, the new tv had finished retuning and had put the football on.

    Oh mig!

You poor thing. I love tapestry too and have restricted what I do by far, like you turning to crochet more now - it is easier. I think I would see if there is a knitting group nearby and try to locate someone to finish your one.

Have you ever read 'yours' magazine? My Mum used to love it and there is a personal adds bit with all sorts of odd requests in it....

By the way - you have every right to say you HATE this - you hardly ever moan.

Christine I heard your story about your sister's carpet loud and clear I will keep up the overshoes :)

Good to hear that your daughter and GKs are doing so well out there. School and kindergarten eh? :) Bless them :)

I can't wear my reading glasses on the stairs either!!! Safety first eh?

Oh you can tell your little TV was a bloke's Tv - fottball

Barbara you got your magnifier?! Good I bet it makes a difference - has it got the daylight bulb in it? I am so glad you can distract yourself like this. Better get a lot of stuff ready for after your op eh? (they had better not hurt your back :x

    The carpet does smell fantastic!!

Hi Joan all is well here - one of Lucy's friends stayed with her last night so I am tip-toeing this morning. Hope all is well with you Sue and the doggies :)

Hope all our missing friends are doing ok :?

    Love

Hi everyone, just popping in for a quick catch up, back to work tomorrow so probably won't get the chance to look in until Thursday or Friday.

How you doing with the specs Christine? I've got varifocals, had them for a few years now and took to them quite well. You really have to remember to turn your head rather than peeking out the corner of your eyes so as not to be looking through the area where the distance section changes to the reading section and everything goes blurry. Hopefully you'll soon come to love them.

Barbara, hope you're enjoying getting back to jewellery making. You'll have Christmas sorted this year, - pretty sparkly things for everyone.

Mig, hope your little explosion of frustration has scared your arthritis into submission, if only for a little while. I've not reached that stage yet but then it's less than a year since my diagnosis (got that info in a phone call from my doctor on my wedding anniversary last year!) It's my knees legs and shoulders that are my problem so lifting and carrying things and walking and climbing up and down stairs. We used to do a lot of walking about when on holiday, whether around town or more of a ramble. I really notice the difference with that and feel a bit guilty that OH is maybe not getting the holiday he thought/hoped he'd get. Will just have to be inventive.

I think I would go loopy if I could only crochet squares, the thought of having to sew them all together! Can you do circles? Maybe a circular cushion cover just for a change. I used to crochet many years ago when the children were little. Can't knit to save myself, it's cos I'm left handed. Ever seen a left handed person trying to purl and move the wool with their left hand? Clumsy isn't the word for it!!

Toni you and Lucy hang in there and keep strong. Hope the house move isn't too stressful and you get your dream property soon.

Time to go grab a cuppa now before himself gets back from work, I'm sure I've got a pancake tucked in the cupboard so I'd better just clear that away too.

    Love to everyone

Toni, my son used to use the tv occasionally to watch football and my GS used it for his computer games but got one in his bedroom for Xmas, so you are right, definitely a man's tv. It had better let me watch chic flicks. I love the smell of new carpet.

Barbara, I bet Niamh looks really cute with her hair cut. I have locks of my kid's hair from as soon as it was long enough to get some. I don't think the younger ones today think about keeping anything at all. I've got drawings and things they made and a few from my GC.

Joan, no I don't have a line on my glasses but sometimes look through the distance bit when I am reading or over the top to see in the distance. I'll get used to them in time. Hope you and Sue have had a good weekend. Your post did come on twice but better than it going missing altogether. :)

Slomo, it is a bit strange when reading here and moving my head from side to side. The top of the text goes one way and the bottom of the text goes the other but I'm getting there. Hope you managed to find a good 'home' for the pancake and hope this week at work is better for you.

Today's plan was to sand down and paint the wall around the bathroom windows where the steam has lifted the paint. Ended up cleaning out a couple of shelves in the kitchen cupboard. I needed a carton of tomatoes and couldn't find any. They had been pushed to the back where I also found some soya yogurts dated 2014. My son has just put in a bathroom suite in his house. The sink and toilet went in no problem but the pipe to the bath keeps leaking so he's now looking for a plumber.

Morning all the sun is shinning..
Slomo I am getting there with the jewellery, this thumb of mine gets in the way so its slow going..I was the same for walking either on holidays or not..sometimes I think I have come to terms with it..and then again..but we get there.. :) will be thinking of you at work, hope this weeks is better..
Joan how interesting you working in the record factory...we collect stylus needles and have lots of old records and we play them on our very old record player...hope you both had a good weekend ..has for nimble fingers yes but not the thumbs so its fiddly..
Christine,,glad your tv is up and working..OH has one upstairs but he just uses it for DVD..isn't it a shame the young ones dont keep things like we did..like you I have stacks of painting ,cards..and other stuff..I even have the ankle name tags from when they were born..aw your son has done well there hope he can get a plumber to sort the pipe....
Have I said I have a date for my hip the 17th March..I am getting all jittery..now I know whats coming..and still worried I wont be any better off with this back..even the surgeon wasn't hopeful but let it us to me..
Right on a lighter note..I am seeing my niece today..if anyone can lift people its her..she is so upbeat.. :D

Good news - my sciatica is easing off, and I'm walking better. I hope it won't be long before I can go a walk outside with my trusty walking stick.

Just ordered some new clothes for George at A**a, so roll on warmer weather.

Barbara the 17th :? :? :? What I wanted to say was that, even if it doesn't help your back, the hip will have been making your back worse so it will still be a good thing overall.

Remember we'll be with you :)

    Joan
Lucy would love to have Barbara with her!! I wish we could arrange it too :) I expect they'll try other stuff first though don't you?

Kath I am very pleased to hear the back pain sciatica is easing back for you. Soon it will be good enough for you to get out in your new clothes :)

    Christine! It's a bloke's TV ATM, but not for long...you'll soon re-train in ;)

cleaning out cupboards is a good thing to do I think you did well to do that. Sanding can wait for another day :)

Sorry your son has to find a plumber! Expensive and not easy to find :)

    Slomo
I hope work has gone ok for you today :) It was interesting reading about the varifocals. Doesn't it hurt your neck all the movements??

Thank you Lucy is and will do just fine. Very kind of you to think of her :)

Today the photographer came so I spent the morning with the help of my friend getting the house ready for it's photos.

Once we're all on-line shall I post the link?? Joan you worked in a records factory?! That is amazing! I bet Lucy doesn't even know what a record is

    I shall educate her!

    Hoping everyone is ok

Barbara, it's not long now till your op. I think I'd be a bit apprehensive too but just concentrate on when it's all over and things will be better. Hope your niece did make you feel cheerier.

Joan, I used to knit a long time ago. A few years ago, I knotted bootees for my GS when he was a baby. Instead of knitting them together, I did one at a time so they were different sizes. I knitted a third one and that was different again.

Good to hear your sciatica is a bit better. It'll be lovely to get out in the sunshine (hopefully it will be sunny soon).

Toni, my son sent me a text late last night feeling very pleased with himself as he had fixed the leak on the bath. Time for photos. It's getting exciting now. It's strange to think the young ones don't know what some things we used to use are.

I went for my second eye test today. The one where they put drops in my eyes to dilate my pupils. The optician said things were the same as they were last year. No new problems so the blurriness is probably mostly the need for stronger glasses and the wavy lines, I'll just have to put up with till they settle down. My 60 balloon has come down from the ceiling now. Almost on the floor so guess it's time for it to go.

    Just finished half term.

All is well-nothing bad to report :D

The itching has finally eased big time :D

Hope the house hunting is going well Toni. Are the new carpets for you or to help with the selling.

Yes OH parents have a dormer bungalow. It was used in the murder most horrid programme Whoopi Stone episode 1 as Dawn Frenches house. I actually stood next to her during a break in filming and didn't recognise her cos she had blonde hair (or a wig). It always make me laugh when I watch it back.

    Hope everyone is well,

Joan, my dad is fine, thanks. Every now and again, he does a few drawings and has asked me to get him a new drawing pad because the one he has is almost finished. It gives him something to do. Hope you and Sue and the doggies are having a good week and you're getting some sunshine.

Oh Barbara, I bet you were horrified leaving without paying. I once took my kids when they were about 10 and 13 to a posh café for lunch. Afterwards we were walking down the street when a waitress came running up to say I hadn't paid. My kids were so embarrassed. I think it's easy done though as some take payment before you eat. Looks as if I missed the down time.

Elizabeth, I'm so pleased your itching is much better. What a relief for you. Oh wow, how wonderful your OH's parents' house being used for tv. What a pity you didn't realise who it was. Hope the second half of the term goes well.

It was lovely and sunny here but freezing so we stayed in and played at going on the bath bus (I can only think that came from last week when we went with daddy to get a new bath and he put my GD in it and pushed her round on a trolley) and we went on holiday to the beach.

Barbara you must have felt embarrassed when you went back in to pay. I will be thinking a bout you on the 7'th. sue came out of the kitchen in her electric wheelchair and caught behind her was the clothes airer and behind that was my walking frame it must have looked funny I was out.

Joan, that made me laugh. Just wish you'd been there with a camera.

Ooo, Kath, sweet and sour turkey meatballs sounds tasty. Don't know which of the bread puddings to choose or maybe the banoffee trifle. Mmmm.

Mig, I haven't read your post but will go and check.

Barbara, I do have fun with my GD as I know you do with yours. I hope you manage to find a nice dressing gown to go with your nighties. I'm not keen on nighties. They ride up during the night and twist round me.

Did anyone see the Flying Scotsman on tv making her way from London to York? I love steam trains. Got my fingers crossed she comes this way on the tour of Britain. If not, I'll have to try to get somewhere to see her go past. I'd have loved to have been in one of the carriages but at £450 a ticket, it was a bit much for me. When I was 10, we moved from Glasgow to Teesside and used to get the train back and forward visiting relatives. I remember a couple of times being pulled by the Flying Scotsman.
