Hello everyone
sorry to have been AWOL for a few days. I have been supporting my friend while her wife has her breast reconstructed after cancer.
Blimey it's amazing! She's had a tummy tuck into the bargain as they've used her own tissue.
The op was lengthy though and recovery will be slower.
We are still not online yet despite the photos being taken on Monday and the EPC done yesterday.
Paul's Mum is back in hospital with pneumonia so we had to go over the Warwick too ::)
Hope for a more restful weekend!
Love to you all
Toni xxx0 -
Oooh Toni, that is the reason I didn't have a reconstruction. It was the choice between a one and a half hour op., or a five hour op! Also, I only needed one drain for about five days - which drove me mad, or three drains for considerably longer.
Joan, Sue's escapade made me giggle too. Just as long as she didn't hurt herself.
Barbara, I hadn't realise I'd put so many bread puddings in.
Mig, sausage casserole. Yummy yummy."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Afternoon all freezing but sunny so we had a ride out..
Oh Joan..hope you have got the rubber back on the walker..and the airer will stand up straight..
I meant say you could be my PA not PM...
Christine Im another that love steam trains and have always lived near them..it was awful when they started to disappear, I hope you get to see it..they have down a brilliant job on it..we are not far off Bury but didn't no it was there or we could have gone to see it..at least you have been pulled by it...and yes our GC do give us a lift
Kath dont worry about the bread and butter pud I have tried them all...
Toni I hope your MIL will make a good recovery oh and me have had our pneumonia jabs I hope they work..how lovely of you to support your friend...it amazing what they can do now..and hope she make a good recovery...
I haven't got a dressing gown yet, I know the hospital has a polivy of not being to warm because of infection..so will need a warm light weight one if they exist..got in the right frame of mind now and I'm ready to have it done...I rang them and they have said they will put me a back brace on then when they turn me over during the op...then it wont go on me and I dont wake up and cant walk...I have some M&* hotcross buns here..so help yourself I will put the kettle on..Love

Hi everyone, how are you all?
Great menu Kath I fancy the chicken, also the dhal and the feta dish looks interesting so I'll maybe try that too! I'll make up for all that by only having one pud - I think it'll be the pear pud. Thank goodness they're all calorie free.
Toni, you poor thing, you're run off your feet aren't you? You're clearly a good friend to have, just remember to recharge your batteries whenever you can.
Barbara, I can relate to your forgetting to pay the food bill story. I think most of us have done that at some time or other. OH and I did just that a few years ago when we were holidaying in the north of Scotland (more north than where we're living now). As it happened RAF jets were doing low flying exercises over the loch outside the café we'd stopped at and we had an awesome show all afternoon. As a result we totally forgot to pay for lunch and were halfway back to our campsite when we remembered and turned back to go and pay. The owner was astounded we'd come back.
I'm having a dropsy few days, I've dropped so many bits of paper, thank steroids I've been able to pick them up!, and nearly dropped a four pint container of milk. I dropped my shower cream bottle in the shower this morning and the top came right off it. By the time I managed to pick it up half of it had run out and the shower tray was fun of suds. At least my feet got a good sudsy clean out of it!!
I'm sorry I've missed out a lot of folk, I hope you're all keeping OK and forgive my forgetfulness about who's doing what. I find that when I'm working I'm too tired in the evenings to log on although I do generally try to have a read through the posts and at the end of the week I try do some posts
All the best to everyone, ( time to go make some food)
slomo0 -
Joan, I hope you managed to mend the airer and walking frame.
Toni, it sounds as if your friend's wife has been through it. I hope her recovery is quicker than expected. And Paul's mum. Hope she recovers quickly too. Hope you manage to relax a bit over the weekend.
Barbara, it was sunny here too. Not too cold either. I think spring must be on it's way. Glad to hear you are ready for your op. It'll be over and done with before you know it. Hot cross buns. Yummy.
Slomo, don't you find the less you are able to bend down to pick things up, the more you drop them? I know I do. Don't worry about missing people out or not posting. I'm the same, often too tired to post by the time I get to the end and then forget who's doing what.
Friday night and 2 days off now. Yippee. Might get my bathroom window sills painted. And maybe I won't.Christine0 -
Kath - you understand that right enough! Well she was having issues with her self-image and so decided to go for it. Very brave after going through the cancer treatment I think!
The problem was finding decent blood vessels to 'plumb' the new tissue in, but she's doing great now
Barbara - those two have been a great support to me and Lucy and still are being so they've earned itI was best woman at their civil partnership 9 years ago.
Matalan is usually good for dressing gown and George too.
Christine - please could you paint my bathroom windowsill too - it's desperate before anyone sees it!
I hope you get to rest on your two days too.
Paul's Mum should be ok now I hope. Fingers crossed.
Slomo - you are doing well so well back at workdropping a few things is perfectly normal
Are you going to be on the steroids for long?
I always pay my debts too - not long ago I bought (self-scan) 3 bars of caramac for £1.20 and when I got home I had 4  next time I went in I did the same scanned one twice and got 2. PHEW!!!
Hi JoanHope all is well with you and Sue and the doggies too

Toni, this morning Operation Paint the Bathroom Window Frames started. I had gone upstairs to go to the loo and thought 'While I'm here .......' I got started on cleaning the paintwork. I had noticed a bit of mould but there was more hiding behind the blind so it took longer than I thought to clean it. After a break to have lunch, I decided to go and buy a tin of paint as the paint I thought was in the cupboard, wasn't there. As it was sunny and I'd got quite hot, I decided to tidy up a bit of the front garden. An hour later and another break for a cuppa and I couldn't be bothered to do any more of the window frames. So, I am willing to do yours for you but it might be next year or the year after.
Mig, that's a good idea to get your fruit and veg delivered. Hope you enjoyed your ride out.
Barbara, it's lovely when you start to smell spring in the air. Wonder where your snowdrops are. Hope you find the right dressing gown in George.
Joan, sounds as if Sue is up to her tricks again. First the walking frame and airer then your walking stick.
Well as I was telling Toni, I managed to clean the bathroom window frames but didn't get any further. You never know, I might get the sanding done tomorrow. This evening, I opened up the box of my mum and dad's photos and managed to look through a few. I need to get them on to my computer at some point.Christine0 -
Mig very good idea getting everything delivered and being able to support a new and local business too
Christine I am ready to start cleaning my bathroom window...so a tad behind youI think you need to do mine first as we are trying to sell remember......
I also have the family photos to put on computer!! Are you the eldest sibling?
Joan - that was quite a picture in my mind of Sue making off with the trolley on the back of her leccie-chair!! Was ayone else looking??!!
Barbara - unfortunately Paul's Mum is a 3 mile round trip away from us so not great really. She seems to be slowly on the mend, but Paul has several days in Scotland this week and is worried about getting there.
My friend's wife has an infection I'm afraid and temperature, but is doing well otherwise bless her.
George have a so so soft pink/peach dressing gown Barbara and a blue dotty one not quite so soft and matching slippers
I think Daisycat may be being bullied by another cat out there....she's got a bit cautious about going out :?

Got my repeat prescription through on Friday. Everything was there, but they had sent the wrong Adcal. :x I have Adcal D3, and they sent the one that is Calcium alone. Rang pharmacy - surgery's fault. Rang surgery = pharmacy's fault. I can believe that, as the repeat slips were in the bag with the meds, and there was the usual one. I think it might have been a locum pharmacist. Anyway, the surgery printed another one out and put it in my pharmacy bag for them to collect and deliver, so I can replace the one they sent first. What a palaver.
Toni, poor Daisycat. Hope she doesn't get hurt.
Christine, I've just tired myself out reading of your bathroom cleaning and gardening. And my back aches just thinking of it.
Oh Joan, I think Sue needs a red for danger warning sign on her wheelchair. I'm glad the carer managed to fix the airer. I think I'd be worse than that if I was in a wheelchair. I'd probably get banned from every shop in town.
Mig, we get our shopping delivered from T***o now as neither of us can walk very far, and it's quarter of a mile to the bus stop. But I do miss my burger stall breakfast on Saturday and Wednesday.
Slomo, glad you enjoyed the menu. We aim to please.
Barbara, good to see you are building up your strength for your surgery. All those bread puddings should do the trick."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Afternoon all its been a lovely day here..hope you have all had some sun..
Oh Joan its not good hen you have to go and chase after your stick, it reminded me of when my OH walks off with the trolley with my crutches in  ..yes we have had a lovely weekend thankyou..hope you and Sue have
Christine I soon get distracted ..dont worry it will get done some time or other..I love looking through old pics but then when I look up hours have passed..I noticed yesterday when I was ordering jewellery stuff on Eb*y, that it is coming form your town..not sure if its a shop or selling just on the net
Toni did you mean a 30 mile round trip for your MIL...I hope your friends temp comes down soon ..and she can get home..it was such a long op ..we had a fox on the drive the other week ..the cats next door apart from the kitten are very old so its a worry ..
Kath..its a pain when they get prescription wrong..I am ok at the min OH picks them up and checks them first, but I remember all the palaver when my dad was poorly..now that is a good way at looking at things ..I am building up my strength..
Been out for a carvery today and enjoyed the bit I had to eat, and made room for iceream..
I was thinking we haven't seen bridlass around I hope she is ok..Love
Barbara0 -
Toni, I might have to do yours first. One of the reasons I'm putting off doing mine is because the sandpaper is somewhere in the cupboard under the stairs. Today I went in there to get it. After emptying half of the things n there, I only found a very small piece of fine sandpaper so will need to buy some tomorrow. At least the cupboard got a little bit of a tidy. Yes, I'm the eldest sibling and grandchild on my mum's side. We don't know my dad's family very well. Only met them a few times. Hope Paul manages to get to Scotland ok and your friend's wife gets better soon. Poor Daisycat. They had better leave her alone or we will all come and chase them away.
Joan, hope you've had a good weekend without any more mishaps.
Kath, what a carry on with your meds. Hope you get them sorted ok. Sorry to tire you. I decided to do some gardening today as the sun was shining but, when I opened the back door, everything was soaked. Didn't notice it raining. So I didn't do much today. Just sorting and scanning more photos. Hope you've had a more restful day today.
Barbara, I've spent nearly all day looking at photos and getting them scanned in to the computer as my cousins want copies of some of them. I'm very tempted to put some of the embarrassing ones on FB. Oooh, that's interesting. Wonder who you got the jewellery from. We have 3 jewellery shops in the High Street but, as you say, it could be an online shop or private seller. I do love a carvery.
The problem with me starting repair jobs or things like scanning photos means that the house will be a mess for a while as I get everything out and it doesn't get put back for quite a while. The ladder is in the bathroom and the things from the windowsills are now on top of the basket I keep the cleaning things etc in and my living room floor has the scanner set up on it and is covered in photos. And I haven't washed the dishes yet. Been too busy. Oops!Christine0 -
Morning all
Christine dont think it will be a jewellery shop more a craft one ..loosed beads fasteners and things..but its so cheap and that have millions of beads on there, I have got a it carried away...might just be opening my own shop when I have done..dont you worry about the housework..my late mum always said it will be there when you are gone..I wouldn't care but she had a day for everything..Monday was washing day...glad you are getting those photos scanned...very important..my late brother did all ours before he died..
sunny but very cold here today..but the birds are singing away...had our carvery yesterday but cant eat much these days so I shared mine with Niamh..she ate more than I did..
hope everyone's doing has well as possible xxxxxLove

Christine I hope you have a good week at work. how are the puzzles doing.

Joan, yes we do have dial-A-Ride for the time being, but it will be gone in a couple of years. It currently costs £1 for a single journey, but £2 return. But the powers that be are including it in the many council cuts. It will be replaced by a scheme where those who want to use it will have a pick up point where they have to wait for a certain time. I can't help wonder how some of the people who cannot walk, will manage. We have never used it, and I don't think we ever will.
Took my Oramorph last night instead of paracetamol, and slept much better. But oddly, I still feel remarkably tired. Anyway, I hope everyone is feeling okayish."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Thank you Joan - Paul loves Scotland, but would rather be on holiday up there. I worry about snow :?
Barbara Monday was washday in my Mum's house too in the days of the old twin-tub. They cleaned better don't you think? I bet Niamh can eat more than you bless her she's still growing!!
I mean a 3 HOUR round trip to MIL without actually speaking to her!! Not grate eh?
The birds here are up to mischief and the squirrel is still pinching next door's nuts and burying them in our lawn!!! I love him
I hope Elizabeth is alright too....as well as Bridelass...coco...etc
Christine I have sandpaper! On blocks really good stuff you can use
I'm not the eldest sib - but my sister is in Scotland and I was my mum's main carer so inherited all the paperwork ::)
Well-done for doing your scanningI need to do the same myself. I also have 3 albums ready to make one each for myself - sister and brother
The mess is what worries me with us trying to sell. The woodwork is being painted outside this week.
Kath - it sounds as though the oramorph made you sluggish this morning, but it's better than not sleeping??
Well done getting your meds sorted - I failed to get Lucy's today because Dr Tim was away and someone else had to do it
Paul is fetching them for me on his way to his Mum at the hospital.
Ah well at least we are all ok eh?
Love

Barbara, I think you hit the nail on the head. I also changed my patches yesterday. Although I used Oramorph again last night, no patch change this morning, so not so tired.
Joan, I'm glad you can use your dial a ride, especially on swimming day. Good exercise, but you must get tired.
Toni, did you manage to get through to the ortho man about Lucy?
We also had rain this morning, but later the sun came out. The DN came out to do my blood tests this morning. He looked like a drowned rat when he got to my house, as we don't live on a road. We live on a court, so he had to park in the car park and walk a few yards in the rain to get to me. I saw him and opened the door for him. Some of his patients kept him on the doorstep while they came to the door, which is why he got so wet. He's a lovely man.
Hoping everyone who is missing are as well as can be. xxx"Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein
