Bubbles, it's always a good idea to think about how the other person is feeling, especially patients. That was very good advice. Fortunately the only time I have been a patient in hospital was when I was having my babies. Hope your cat forgave you once you fed him. My eyes are a bit better today thanks. Hope your father-in-law is ok after his cataract removal.

Barbara, I can't help smiling at little dogs as they run along. They look so cute. Was it really 3 weeks ago? Hope the time is going quickly for you. How is your jewellery making coming along. Have you made much yet?

Mig, what a coincidence that was and everyone winning something. When I was still living with mam and dad, dad would get us to pick names out of a hat for the race then we'd all sit and watch it.

Joan, my eyes are a bit better today thanks. Glad you got out today with the dogs.

Well, what have I learned today? That you might just get a wage rise if you ask for it and maybe it helps to make your boss a cup of tea and chat to him about his fish. After telling me last week that he thought he was paying me enough, my boss said today that I can have an extra 30p an hour. think maybe I should stop complaining about him now. :bouncing-ball: His mum had bought a few different packets of gluten free pastas and biscuits for her GD when she stayed but she didn't eat any of them so she gave me them. They'll keep me going for a while.

    Late evening greetings to all.

Good to hear that you are feeling a bit better Kath, the smallest things can mean the most and make us feel so much happier. A lot of people don't realise that gifts are not always material things, they can be just a few words. The pin sounds lovely and the restoration trust is a great charity to support.

Well done on the win Mig, it is something I have never thought about putting a bet on, I always refused to watch it after so many horses fell one year and some had to be put down. I know they have lowered the fences, but it still fills me with dread. Great that you won though.

A small pay rise is good too, if you don't ask, so the saying goes. :D

Glad your eyes are less sore today Christine, I have gel from the Dr's to put in mine, sometimes they feel like they have been taken out and rolled in sand. Computers and smartphones don't help, I know. Something to do with the blue light spectrum that they give off (beyond me, but I will believe the colour analysts).

F in Law had his other cataract removed. Getting up at 0600 was a shock, but I seem to have pottered and achieved more. He was ready to come back home by 1030, all done and dusted. He will have his big sunglasses on tomorrow when we go for a coffee, looking like Roy Orbison. I will try not to sing pretty woman :lol: Bless. Glad he is all sorted and ok.

We did have a nap as I was fading by 5pm and I actually fell fast asleep, for a change, which was lovely. Two hours, all the cats settled and got comfy on their cushions and pillows and away we went.

It has just started raining here. Sunday is supposed to be the best day for sunshine.

Take lots of care, XX Bubbles

Bubbles, I have eye drops to replace the oil from my eyelids to try and keep them lubricated. Only lasts a short time though. I do try to stay off my laptop as much as possible but it's not that easy. Glad your FIL is all done. That sounds lovely. You and the cats all cosied down and snoozing.

Joan, I hope you and Sue and the doggies are ok.

Barbara, please be careful. That sounded very painful. People do leave such a lot of rubbish lying around. Glad you got out to the garden centre. What a pity it rained.

I've been feeling worried since last night. My son sent me a message just as I was about to go to bed. He had been on his way to the kitchen and saw a shadow outside the front door. He put the light on and looked out of the window and saw a man standing there. He walked off quickly when he saw my son looking out. Then this morning, he went out to the car to find a big scratch mark all the way down the side. The car is parked about 30 yards away from the house, not right outside. Then this afternoon, my daughter said they had someone knock on their door at 3 in the morning then run off. Don't know if I'll sleep tonight now.

On a brighter note, I did manage to potter a while in the garden and got some tomato, pepper and cauliflowers potted up and a bit of tidying as it was lovely today.

It's quiet in here at the moment. Hope that means everyone is enjoying some sun.

Late greetings to all, having looked out earlier, after a nap, to see snow on the hill ! We had rain, but obviously it is a wee bit colder up there, looks nice though.

Christine, that's not nice at all, what a horrible thing to happen and to see someone standing there. Some people are just horrid beyond measure. Very upsetting for them both and for you.

We had both our cars scratched and paint stripper poured on them, many years back, no sense or reason. We moved not long after, as it upset us so much. Not that it was in some terrible area.

Glad you managed to potter in the garden and I hope you sleep ok tonight. Carbomer is the eye gel I have from the Dr's, it is good for a while, but they soon go dry again. The Optician did mention Shogren's, but I am not persuing that alley, I have enough medical problems

Take care Barbara, it is so easy to trip and stumble, it jars all you bones for sure. OH usually keeps an eye out for whatever is on the floor or pavement. Cobbles are the worst for me, I am like jelly on springs.

Last night, going up for 3am, I heard a bang, it sounded like someone was trying to break in, OH was up as soon as and investigating, it was an ambulance, out front, taking our neighbour to hospital. Turns out she had pneumonia when I asked her OH after he had come from visiting. She is on the mend and in the right place, full of antibiotics.

Enough for one day me thinks, everyone take lots of care, stay safe. XXXXX Bubbles

Such lovely weather, just rather cold.

After hearing your experiences, I'm so glad we don't have a car. It would be worse here, as we don't have driveways, just a car park at the end of the row of houses. So we wouldn't hear or see anything.

Oh dear Barbara, that could have been very nasty. :?

Christine, I use Hypromellose for my dry eyes.

After snow, now we have beaming sunshine. Hi to everyone, good to see you back Toni - what would we do without wifi and the like now. Going back to dial up seems like the stone age, compared to the technology we have today. Remember the horrid screeching tone as the internet struggled to connect.
I digress - hope you had a good time.

Barbara, you took up the offer of assistance I hope, from the kind young men lol. It is bad enough getting in out of the car when it is near the kerb, let along when you are healing from a recent op.

I recall when our car was serviced last time, they said would you like a lift into town, oh yes, that's kind, thank you. Well, the car was very nice and sporty and SO SO low to the ground. I just about fell in and almost had to be winched out when we arrived in town. I was leaning on the pavement, with OH lugging me into an upright position. I said, don't worry about fetching us, we will get an accessible taxi back to the garage. Boy did I hurt. Anyway, next time we will wait at the garage.

I did think why did they not realise that someone who is on crutches and walks like a stalk, with knees going in all directions, might need a higher seated car, ie one similar to the motability car we have   Bless, it wasn't worth getting in a stew about really.

Hope you managed to rest Christine, I was thinking of you, bumps and noises at night give me the jitters. Usually it is one of the cats. We live in a very quiet area, in the woods, nice, but very dark at night, our neighbours and us (is that bad grammar) leave our outside lights on till the wee small hours and keep an eye on each other with the curtains open.

I am rambling away here, not knowing quite where the day has gone, it is nearly round three of pills already.

Leaving hugs and well wishes to all, Kath hope things are ok with you, feeling a little better.

Take lots of care, enjoy the weather. I think we will go out for lunch tomorrow, I feel the need.

Bubbles, I hope that's the last of the snow. It's bad enough your car being scratched but paint stripper? What on earth would someone get out of doing that? I don't blame you wanting to move. I use Systane for my eyes. I know what you mean about not wanting to 'add' a new problem. I've jumped out of bed a couple of times during the night to find an ambulance at one of the neighbour's houses. Why are they so noisy? Glad your neighbour is recovering now.

Yes thanks Joan. I did have a good night's sleep last night. Hope you did too.

Kath, it's the same where my son lives. The houses have a footpath down to the green and the cars are parked on the road at the end of the houses so it's not possible to see if anything is happening to them. I use Systane for my eyes. I love Call the Midwife.

Barbara, only another few weeks till you can sleep on your back and hopefully things will be easier for you. Glad you got out. How lovely of the men to offer to help but I can understand how you felt. At least you got to look at two good looking men. :too-hot:

Welcome home Toni. Don't worry about not getting in her while you were away. As long as you were having fun. Good to hear Paul's mum is home. Hope she is feeling much better.

My son phoned today. The police have been to see him. They said they think it is someone who lives in the village but they can't do anything without evidence. There have been other things happening, minor car scratches, petty theft and posters being torn down. My son has been speaking to other residents and they all mention one person but can't be sure it's him. Someone said the house across from where the car was parked has cctv so my son is waiting to talk to them in case it picked anything up.

I've been in the garden in a t-shirt today. It was lovely. My pond is in quite a mess with leaves disintegrating. I managed to get some of them out but there is frog spawn and I don't want to disturb it. And I was sure I'd cut back the clematis at the end of summer but I hadn't so did it this afternoon. Looks much tidier for now.

Thank you Bubbles I had a great tie and have posted a couple of photos in the frogmorton thread.

Dial up? Thank goodness that's obsolete!!

We saw a drag show while we were out and they were so lovely to Lucy :)

Thank you Joan it's lovely to be home. I hope all has been well with you all while I've been AWOL

Christine I really hope something shows up on the CCTV. Having said that I am more than relieved that it wasn't only them being targeted.

Frog spawn :) Lovely! I adore frogs :)

WE had some sunshine then rain still raining now so no T shirts here :(

Barbara I hope the foot has eased a bit....sure you'd enjoy semi-frozen peas for diner ;)

I haven't overdone the washing today just two more loads and a little ironing. Paul and Lucy's uniforms.

Man been to look at the dishwasher, ordered a new oven seal and 3 lightbulbs for £17 off ebay! Stupid expensive ones which are supposed to last 2 years and reality last 5 mins ::)

A the joys of moving eh?

Joan, sorry you still have pain in your foot.

Barbara, it does make you feel better getting your hair done, doesn't it? How sweet Niamh thinking the peas were your dinner.

Toni, I'm not sure now that it is frog spawn. I thought I saw tadpoles but think I've got air bubbles and insect larvae. Although I do have frogs somewhere. All the bits and pieces do add up when moving, don't they?

It's been sunny today but a bit chilly. I'd left my warm jacket at work on Friday so had to wear a lighter one this morning and carry one home after work. That's the second time I've done that recently.

Hope all the missing café dwellers are ok.

Have had a few things on my plate so sorry not been around very much. I'm having to ease my Daughter back into school after nearly 6 weeks off. I stayed in the reception room like a protective mother hen this morning but I promised her I would be on hand if I was needed.

Dan came home okay but he doesn't like to talk about his respite so I allow him time to 'recover'.

Rheummy on Thursday plus I booked a blood test before hand but really it is overdue by a month. I'll have to tell her about my hip as it has been very bad and waking me up all through the night.

I've not read back so shall do so now....

Barbara, I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling miserable. I think we all go through that after being out of commission for some time. I hope things improve soon.

Christine, I'd love some tadpoles and frogs. We used to get quite a few visitors, we think someone nearby must have had a pond. But we haven't seen any for ages now.

Toni, don't envy you moving. I don't think we could cope with it any longer. I hope it all goes well.

Joan, hope it's not too much of an ordeal for Sue getting the mark removed. When does she go to the hospital?

Barbara, you've just reminded me that the bulb at the top of the stairs has gone. I can't replace it as I'm scared of heights and I'd have to stand on the ladder next to the banister. I'd love to go away and come back to a decorated house too. Maybe we should contact one of those tv programmes. have you thought about selling your jewellery on Ebay or FB?

Elizabeth, hope your daughter finds school life a little easier soon. Do the people at the respite let you know how Dan is? Hope it goes well at the rhuemie on Thursday.

Kath, I'm glad you are feeling better. I used to love moving but don't think I could cope now either. There are quite a few delicious sounding meals on the menu today.

What a mess there is in the next town where I go to T*sco. It was originally supposed to be a supermarket, a row of shops, health centre and fitness centre with 5 small villages of about 20 houses each around it. They forgot to stop building and there are now thousands of houses. In fact, they say it is the biggest housing estate in Europe. The footpath I walk along used to have a small road on one side and fields on the other. All around is now a huge mudbath as they build houses on the fields. The road is being turned in to a dual carriageway to try to handle the huge amount of traffic. Think is, there's a bridge at the bottom of the road which can't be widened so the traffic will still back up.

Not sure what I'll do tomorrow as my GD has started nursery every day. My daughter has started her job and the au pair has moved in to look after the kids. My daughter is a bit upset as the kids asked if they should call the au pair mummy.

Evening to one and all, I am just having a read back and not getting very far. I read of frogs and frog spawn, light bulbs and extra expenses of moving, that's for sure Toni, every time, it adds up and then some.
Hope you foot is easing Barbara and that the frozen peas helped. Over compensating causes its own range of troubles, as I am sure you know.
It seems to be a bad time for hips, I, like others have been hobbling along these past couple of days, so not been comfortable to sit for long, or stand - pity we cannot float for a while.
Kath the menu is super good. I will start with scones, I am addicted to scones at the moment and they don't upset my blood sugar, which is a huge bonus :D
The gas man came to service the boiler today, so it was an at home day, OH nipped out to take Mum in Law to the Drs, then they came back to ours for T and yes, scones, lol.

He said our boiler was in super condition, I said I do clean and polish it - he probably thought, how sad !! Well, it is at eye level so I can reach it and if I can reach it, I clean it. If it's low, then it is not my domain. Sorted some washing, thought about ironing some bits, but that is as far as that thought went. It will still be there tomorrow. The day has just vanished, even though I was up early doors.

out for coffee and scones in the morning, pop into the vets for some cat food, sainsb---- for human food and then home.

Take lots of care, XXXX Bubbles.

Christine..you will feel lost today, I remember it well when the girls started nursery or pre school..I sobbed that day..and was always pleased when it was the school holidays... :D the building work sounds awful, dont you just get sick of the councils giving planning permission..there must be a lot of money changing hands.. :x its the same here..they are surrounding us with estates..I did ask my GD to contact the TV on my behalf..not sure if she did but nothing happened..I did think of Eb*y but there is so much jewellery on there..what I might do is see if the hospice can sell it then it goes to good use ..and give some away to family and friends..
bubbles..sorry to say the foot is worse...it feels like an hot poker being shoved inside...I just hope it goes has quick has it came..now I like the floating idea... :D I had to laugh at you polishing the boiler..bet it was the cleanest he had seen...I often think about my ironing..
    love to everyone..xxxxxx
    Love
