Well Bubbles I love France - my Mum was French (Dad was Hungarian) hence the name Antoinette.
We go regularly to a place about 25 mins from Bergerac airport. My French isn't too bad, but imagine yours is better. We had actually considered living there permanently before Lucy got ill.
I think it is far better to be here in the UK if you are ill or someone close to you is. Best to be able to express yourself in your first language.
Thank you for your kind comments about Lucy's illness - all I can say is we are very very lucky. During the time of Lucy's illness and treatment at the fabulous QE she/we have lost many many kids we knew. Including the infamous Stephen Sutton of course. The AVN we'll deal with - she is alive
We could never forget our Val could we or Trish! Naughty Jan (pixyandfairies and of course Cris skezier. Those were the days eh? I was an early bird not a night owl myself.
I have just done a mountain of ironing as well as completed a silly form for the solicitors re house move
Sitting down now with wheatie on my neck
KathT All will be well when you have that check up and you can 100% rely on me to be in your pocket for your vital check-up. ((()))
You were one of the fabulous guys on here who supported us all through those dark, dark days...ooops! snivelling again
It is a good bit chillier today isn't it?
Love
Toni xx0 -
Afternoon all lovely and sunny but not quite has warm..
Joan that is awful stealing your charger..for goodness sake they will take anything..I hope you both have a lovely weekend
Kath I can understand you being scared when the chemo finished ..in its own way it must have been comforting..if you get the jist..what a palaver with DNs..I find the NHS doesn't communicate the same anymore ..hope your test or ok..
bubbles yes Trish and Val were lovely and are missed bless them...how lovely that you lived in France..I have never been ..but cant believe the price of property there and it looks so peaceful..
Christine that is scary that an house nearby was burgled, there have been few around here lately..think they are looking for open windows because of the warm spell..our neighbour has a recording of a dog and its set to play now and then in the day and they have a box that simulated a TV in the dark..the things you have to do
Toni..that is such good news that Lucy last chemo is Monday..bless her cotton sock has my late mum would say. .she has come a long way..I hope she can get her hip done with very soon and its make a big difference to her..and hopefully you will get through to them about her shoulder..
Phew is that everyone..I will make my self a none alcoholic cocktail and sit on the patio..and one want to join me..xxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Not at all Toni, Let's hope Lucy continues to improve and has her hip and shoulder suitably treated.
That's good to get away to France, it is a beautiful country, without a doubt. I am glad we went when we did, not long after I was retired from nursing, also glad that we came back at the right time too. You are right, it is always better to talk in your first language. Sometimes I find myself thinking in French, strange being, I know
Joan, their fingers should burn, for taking the charger. People will stop at nothing to steal something to gain a few ££ to fuel either drink or drugs more often than not.
I remember one of the bigger Tes*** that we go to, their buggies were always in the entrance area, until one day they had moved. They were all out of action as someone had stolen all the chargers. Well, Karma on them. When they are in so much discomfort that they cannot enjoy a shopping trip without a buggy, see how they like it when none are working.
Kath there are some lovely buildings in "town" as we used to say. Not the Victoria Centre, or Broad Marsh, but the older ones are great works of art.
I will get my pills and join you on the patio Barbara.
Take care, XXXX BubblesXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
I'm up for a cocktail before the weather turns completely Barbara
It is fabulous that all this cancer malarkey will be behind us as for the hip and shoulder we'll sort it! Still didn't get through to the secretary :?
Bubbles I adore France definitely. I chunter away in France sometimes too Daisycat thinks I am very odd!
I remember that couple who's little lad had a brain tumour and they took him away from hospital for treatment abroad. they got arrested? I was fuming - Lucy was in the QE at the same time and I knew I was struggling to understand it all even in English.
I spent a lot of my youth Kath and Bubbles working as a volunteer for the winged fellowship trust in Notts (West Bridgeford) and LOVE Nottingham
I rather like the idea of karma getting those who nicked Joan and Sue's chargers.
Grr Grr Grrrrr!!!!0 -
Joan, stealing the scooter chargers was a terrible thing to do. I hope the police do manage to catch them.
Toni, well done on doing all that ironing. I don't mind ironing but can only do a bit then come back to it later as it makes my neck feel stiff. Hope your neck is getting better with the wheatie. You can come and pull me out of the hammock now and you can have a go. Not long till Monday then that's a big big thing over and done with.
Bubbles, they stole the chargers from T*sco? I wonder what they do with them. I enjoyed riding pillion on a motor bike through France some years ago. I found anyone we spoke to was very pleasant and friendly.
Kath, I can imagine you feeling anxious for the annual check ups. It's only natural. And when you've had chemo for a long time, it's a life style change again when it finishes.
Barbara, I've been thinking of a recording of a dog barking. I'll have to have a look and see if I can find one. A cocktail sounds good to me.
Well I'm not impressed with the weather forecast for the weekend but there's nothing we can do about it. Might pop in to town. I need to find a battery for my laptop. Mine's on it's last legs. I'm only getting half an hour out of it now. I've got squiggly red lines under everything I type in here. Not sure what I've done.Christine0 -
You must have changed the language o your lap top or something Christine??? The spelling looked fine to me and I usually spot spelling mistakes.
That hammock IS rather comfy isn't it?
I have one of those steam generator irons and it is so fast! Without it I would do much less.
Neck is doing ok ta although I am still resting it a lot and haven't stopped with my pills
What a good idea a dog barking sound!! Mind you will the neighbours be reporting you to the RSPCA for leaving a dog in all day!!!
I can't believe it sunshine here still :sunny:
I think Bubbles made a mistake here telling us about being male.....anything that needs moving in here will be his job now
Off to the Estate agent's today to sort some things out.
Love

Morning all..lovely to wake up to the sun..
Toni I bet its much harder now moving house..I know you have to have paper work for the boiler ..double glazing..insulation..its puts me off..hope it all goes straight forward...
bubbles ..its good you did come back before your health issues started..do you go back for holidays...
Christine..I agree with Toni it sounds like your spell check is not recognizing the language..hope you get sorted with a battery..but check the prices on line there is a big difference
Think someone spiked the cocktails last night... feel very unsteady.. Niamh is coming this morning with daddy while mum has a min to herself..they are still thinking some form of autism..she will be monitored for the next 2 years in school..she is like perpetual motion..bless her..you just want her to sit for a min and rest..
Then hopefully will get out before the sun goes in..we went to town the other day the bigger one ..and has we were parking we heard an almighty bang..a man on a scooter had gone thought the glass door of the town hall and was covered in glass...you would think being safety glass it wouldn't have broke.. :? think I had better stop rambling now..
Love to everyone xxxxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Afternoon, on what was a sunny day, but is getting cooler by the minute.
Oh no, count me out for moving Toni, lol. We will have to get people in for hefty jobs that need doing.
Glad your neck is doing ok, pills never stop do they, I get fed up with them all to be honest, but, needs must.
No, we have never been back to France, since we came back in 2007. Our passports have long expired and they would not let me on a plane without a ream of letters, plus, I decided that my flying days were done with, being a nervous wreck did me no favours at 38000 feet. I don't do boats and the one trip through the tunnel was more than enough (are we there yet)?
Promise I didn't spike the cocktails Barbara, just the usual night time drugs on the medicine trolley. Hope you had a good visit, it is so tiring when a little one is super active. Hope the man was ok who went through the town hall window, what a shock.
Went out as planned with in laws, while OH waited for parcels. I was fit to be tied by the time we got back, F in Law is testing, to say the least. We went for coffee and scones, the place was heaving, a bus trip had arrived and it was like a turkey farm inside
Time to do some pottering, fuss in the kitchen a while, throw a few things about. Take care, one and all XXX AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Hello Toni Kathleen Bubbles Barbara Christine and anyone else I missed.
Toni its hard to think it will all be over Lucy still has to have test's for so long wont she.
Kathleen how are all your pain's getting on.
Bubbles it was hard being a matron but good.
Barbara I bet that was a shock when you heard that bang.
Christine I sit down to do the ironing. you work hard.
take care all have a good weekend.
joan sue has a new charger.take care
joan xx0 -
Hi Joan - good that Sue has a new charger, but annoying she had to. Yes Lucy will be monitored closely for years I think. She will have a bone marrow test once all chemo has left her system.
Barbara! I rather think you were right about the drinks.....so if it wasn't our Bubbles do you think it was Elfie or Christine???
That poor man I hope he's ok? Safety glass shatters I think doesn't cut you???
I am glad they are keeping an eye on Niamh bless her. She might settle down one of my nieces was super-active and now she is a perfectly calm 15 year old.
Afternoon Bubbles send your FIL over here I'll take a turn.
I am pricing up removal firms and praying it's not too expensive for the house move.
No passports then now? Ours need renewing October, but you don't need long on them for France so we're waiting till after the move or the address will be wrong.
Love to you all
Toni xxx0 -
Right who spiked the cocktails... sorry if I left you all a bit woolly headed..
I said earlier the baby was coming with daddy , so I asked did she want a yogurt..bless her she waves her finger and say no no mamas.. grandas will get it ..poorly leg ...
Joan the bang did make us jump..but the poor man was mortified
Toni I hope Niamh does settle down its awful she keep going with her eyes shut she is that tired...you be careful with the packing
bubbles I see what you mean with flying I find it hard getting insurance being on the patches..and been offered back surgery wish they hadn't now..what a shame it was so busy for you today..I dont like like crowds any more..
Right I'm off to get in the hottub..its freezing here..xxxxLove
Barbara0 -
Toni, I must have done something like that. No red lines tonight. Didn't think about the neighbours wondering about the dog. Mind you, I reported my next door neighbours to the police and RSPCA for leaving their dog outside in all weathers barking and crying all day and no-one would do anything. As long as it was fed once a day, that was ok. It's not there now and they've got a new dog which they are looking after. Hope the house move is going to plan.
Barbara, no red lines tonight so back to normal. I went in to town today to a computer shop and he said he can order a battery for £30. Online the price varied from £15 to £70 and I didn't know if I'd get the right one. I can collect it next week. 2 years seems a long time to monitor Niamh but maybe they think she'll settle down. How sweet of her to realise you had a poorly leg. Hope the man on the scooter was ok. There should have been safety glass as that breaks in to tiny pieces but I don't think it should fall out.
Bubbles, I love travelling. Don't mind how but prefer trains or planes. I wouldn't talk about being tied up around here with some of these women. :swim-shark:
Joan, I did sometimes sit down to iron but my physio told me not to sit for more than half an hour and it usually takes an hour or so. I'm glad Sue's got a new charger. Did she manage to get it on your insurance? Doesn't seem fair if she had to pay for it.
Toni, I only put everyone's meds in their drinks. Thought it would be easier for them. I've told Barbara I thought safety glass doesn't fall out. You could be right. It does but just doesn't cut. Is it 6 months you need on your passport? After I'd booked my flights to Australia, I got my passport out knowing I had over the amount of time, to find I needed twice as long so had to renew mine. Was glad when it came back almost straight away.
I managed to hang a few things out this morning and some of them almost dried. Brought them in before I went out just in case. I had a nice wander round town although there were a lot of inconsiderate people around. People shouting at their kids or each other, people walking up to me and just standing till I walked round them rather than them move a little too, people just walking through doors when I held the door for them with no thank you. I did go to a gluten free café for a drink and a bit to eat. Took about 20 minutes to make some cheese on toast. The woman did apologise saying the toaster just wouldn't toast. It wasn't great but ok. At least I know it's there if I get peckish. Bought a couple of new t-shirts for work but was shocked when I tried them on and looked in the mirror. I must shrink this tummy.Christine0 -
Evening Toni Barbara Christine Joan Elizabeth and all............
Hope everyone is as ok as possible. I won't mention being fit to be tied then Christine, that made me chuckle. So, we have found the culprit for the night sedations........I will have to put a new code on the trolley lock
You have been busy, shopping and dealing with the great unwashed who have no manners whatsoever. People rarely thank you if you do even a little favour, like holding a door. If I am in the buggy, people often look at me and you know they are thinking "you are in my way". Well, get over it. Some people are good and polite, which does restore some faith in humanity. 20 minutes for cheese on toast, that's some going. I don't do mirrors, only face and neck ones, for shaving and lotions and potions. Flights to Australia, oh boy, I would have to be under anesthesia !!
Like you Barbara, I don't like crowded places, I get quite jittery to be honest and just want to be home. I don't like confined spaces either  what a wuss eh. I have to use lifts, reluctantly. Some time back my Sis in law and family we all got in this small lift, there were 5 of us. Halfway up, it stopped and would not go either way. I was pressing the alarm like a demon. OH was saying it's ok, from the floor above, someone is on the way. It was hot and getting hotter. Anyway, they managed to make the lift go up to the next floor, after some time. Sis in law and I were stateless and had to sit in the cafe for a while to compose ourselves, the kids thought it was hilarious.
I am babbling on. Enough already
I will air lift my F in Law over to you Toni, you have been warned, lol. Hope the removal quotes are not too scary.
I must move, I am chair shaped, potter time.
Rest well everyone. I will leave the heating on low, it is cold again tonight. Is cuddles still about, I haven't seen her. Marigold, Yack, we did have quite a farm going on out back.............I will have to take a look.
XX BubblesXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Right Bubbles cuddles is definitely still about
as is Marigold
But I haven't seen the yak for ages and assumed skezier took it with her???
Head/neck/full-body when I look in the mirror my late Mum looks back at me
Your FIL has yet to arrive hope he gets here before we move
That lift story is terrifying
Christine that poor dog! The RSPCA were rubbish when I reported a cat who looked unwell and neglected too.
At least they 'like' the one they have now.
You are wise to order the battery from the shop at least you know it'll be right
I see the problem with the cocktails and meds now! I took mine as well and I bet Barbara did too
At least you can get some gluten free toast if you are desperate now...only not too desperate else you might pass out waiting!!
People can be ignorant can't they? Ignore them not worth it, but don't stop being nice
Hello Mamas AKA Barbara Grandad can jolly well get it you do have a poorly leg. I think Niamh is adorable, but not good if she's so exhausted. My Niece used to stress everyone out with her inability to sit. I hope your gorgeous GD will be the same.
Do you remember the cost of insurance for Lucy?!! A thousand was the average for those who even quoted! Managed to get an annual on for £400 in the end but only in Europe as far as Tenerife I think.
She got a flyer in the post yesterday. 'You had a quote from is this time last year....we have excellent rates for the over 60's'
If you need the name of the company we used let me know.
Anyway must get on
Love to you all
Toni xxx0 -
Morning all its chilly here but dry..I sound like the weather lady..in fact if they give me a chair I could do that job..
Christine what a day you had..we are always grumbling when OH holds a door and they just walk through...has for me on crutches most people are nice but the odd ones will make me move..glad you managed to get something to eat at least...I am the same with this tummy..I think when I have an op the weight will go but they feed you up in hospital...
Joan I have told my OH about the battery..he was fuming for you..Im glad Sue has one for you to use...
Toni..when Niamh comes she rolls up my jeans to look if I still have the socks on... what a difference in the price of insurance..the last time we went to Spain mine was £300..someone said to me print out all the paper work then you can take it with you ..just in case..blinking ek it was 25 pages..but I do worry that they could riddle out of it ...Monday is nearly here... you go Lucy...
bubbles I am the same with lifts when you mention that it stopped with you all in my heart fluttered..I am fine with heights thank goodness ...oh no cuddles we haven't fed her for a year... marigold was brilliant for fresh milk...but I think she went on to pastures new..if my OH reads this he will think I have gone all together...
I am off to get some more supplies for my jewellery ..I get most of the net but need a couple of clasp for these leather bracelets my GD has ordered....hope you all have a good day...xxxxxLove

Hello Toni Christine Barbara Bubbles and anyone else I missed.
Toni how long will it take the chemo take to get out of Lucy's body.
Barbara Niamh sounds a lovely caring little girl.
Christine have you tried the gluten free muffins.

morning Barbara Toni Joan Christine and all
We do like our weather reporting, they should give us a job on TV AM
I will feed Cuddles, not that I can find her at the moment, but I will leave some chicken and tuna out. Good to hear that Marigold is still here as well. Bless. I know what you mean, no one could ever understand the workings of the cafe, apart from the ones in it, lol. A little escapism.
My Dad looks back at me, from the mirror. I don't mind, he was a lovely man
I have heard about the RSPCA not wanting to know or being bothered when people report ill treatment.
I nearly put our three cats up for adoption last night, it was bad enough trying to get to sleep, then they decided to mess about, howling and shouting, jumping around. For some unknown reason I got up at 0415 and started to get clothes sorted, to get dressed. It took me a little while to realise what the time was  So between the cats and me being completely out of sync I didn't have a good night.
Glad you have a battery sorted Joan. The chargers in Tesco** were all fixed down, but they unscrewed them and waltzed off with them.
Hope you managed to get your supplies Barbara.
Holiday insurance sounds horrendous. Glad we don't travel now, they would likely not touch me with a barge pole, not without hiking up the price. I remember someone calling once about life insurance, "oh yes, we insure everyone". That was until I answered his question "do you have an pre existing medical conditions"? Errr, well, yes, here is a list. He didn't stop long after that
Time to potter, I hear the dryer has finished, so I will get my grabber and delve inside. It is like wishy washy's laundry here.
Take care everyone xxxx AidanXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

I would have run over her toes for saying that - makes me mad, we are not disabled for a laugh, or as a lifestyle choice. GrrrrrrrrrXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -
Well, I've just read through everyone's posts. There have been some shenanigans going on. Spiked cocktails, stolen chargers, and people calling those in mobility scooters LAZY. You know, I can be a mean minded person sometimes, but can't help wishing people like that would find themselves in the same position and overhear some ignoramus saying that about them. :x :x :x :x
And it's lovely Lucy's last chemo tomorrow.
Slept well last night, but this today the pain in my groin is like a knife and my bottom and leg is completely numb. Ya boo!!
I've now begun to download radio plays to listen to. The last one was four comedy detective dramas starring Timothy Spall as the detective and Cheryl Campbell as a Mother Abbess. Yes, I know, an unlikey coupling but I loved them. The next series has Bernard Hepton . They are all quite old - bit like me."Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea." Robert A Heinlein

Bubbles, you'll have to give me the new code so I can dish out the meds. :bouncing-ball: I can manage lifts while they are moving but not sure how I would handle it if I got stuck in one.
Toni, even £400 is a lot, isn't it? Bet Lucy had a good laugh at the over 60s flyer.
Barbara, I think sometimes you need a suitcase just for the paperwork. Hope you got the clasps for the bracelets.
Joan, I've tried some gluten free muffins but found them to be a bit dry. It has put me off trying others. Why is it some people think wheelchair users use them by choice.
Kath, I do try not to judge but I, like you, sometimes wish the same happens to those people.
Well I've been on an adventure this afternoon. There were vintage buses running all afternoon from our High Street to several of the other towns. All free too so I hopped on one then another and another. Been all over the place.
I think I almost got thrown off the last one. I was upstairs and the bus was supposed to go down one road then turn back to where I wanted to get off. Instead it turned early so I pressed the buzzer to tell the driver I wanted off at the next stop. There was a lot of traffic so when the bus stopped a bit away from the bus stop, I took the chance to get down the stairs. As I got to the bottom, I realised there was no door on the exit so turned to make my way inside the downstairs of the bus. As I took a step forward, I noticed everyone on the bus (and it was very full) had turned to look at me. Then I noticed the bus driver had turned round too and there was a man making his way down the aisle. He asked me if I wanted to get off there. I apologised profusely and explained I wanted to get off at the next stop but would get off there as the bus had stopped. I felt very embarrassed but surely the bus driver didn't think I meant I wanted off immediately. :splash:Christine0 -

Afternoon all, hope we are as good as can be. I won't mention the weather, apart from it being colder, cloudier, rain and windy.
1234 is the code for the trolley, best keep it simple or I would forget it in an instant and no one would get their meds.
Sounds like quite an adventure on the buses (gosh, do you remember that series)? I would have done the same, if everyone was looking at me.
I don't know why some people think we use wheelchairs and buggies out of choice and look at you as if you are from another planet. One lady did say to OH one day, while I was nosing at the shelves, "ahh, bless, has he had it long"? HAS HE HAD WHAT? I don't think the lady meant any ill feeling, it was just her way, assuming that anyone in a wheelchair could not speak for themselves.
You get the same looks sometimes when you are in a blue badge bay, as if to say what's wrong with you, you look ok - OH says just ignore them - but I do flash a filthy look in passing
Been out for coffee and scone, which was nice. Maybe a bit too much coffee, rather dithery at the moment. I know caffeine helps with pain killer absorption, so I will put up with it
More washing to potter with, so I will away, maybe have a shower. Dentist tomorrow - I have been going there since 1998 so I know them v well. Last time, he was chatting with the dental nurse, while he was putting the chair back, he must have forgotten to take his foot off the button, as I was so far back I nearly vanished under the cupboards, wooooooooah.
Take care, one and all. XXX Aidan B See, I don't know what to call myself now.
Just seen your post Kath, we will be there for pocket duties, while you have your x rays...........xxXX Aidan (still known as Bubbles).0 -

Dentist is not tomorrow, it is Wednesday   See, that woman was right when she said "Bless". I don't know if I am on this earth or Pluto. Never mind, I have taken my T time meds so all will be well.
